growing up maekar was always there in the background, always the quiet one who never sought to push himself out into the open spaces or fill the room up with his presence. sometimes he let others do the talking for him and sometime he didn't but by no means was he a pushover because of these traits. his presence at times sent a chill through the room, someone was always watching from the shadows and that was the young targaryen as he watched those that talked and grumbled with a quiet and gentle smile upon his lips. His expression always seems so far off as if he is not even in the current room but that can be seen as a rouse of sorts. though not intentionally done but he is always thinking about that is going on around him, no one detail being missed by his shifting and moving mind.

he's easily seen as a likable character when one gets to know him, able to talk when others call upon him and lighten up the mood of the room. he's never one to shy away from conversation despite how he seems to drift off into his own world. voice a pleasant and gentle tone, never raised above a gentle caressing volume, he walks tall and understands his place as the second born to the young twin sibling of the family. though he has no wish to actually become high king, if his faction deems him worth enough he will not stand down and will proclaim his own claim to the throne, but only if he sees it being beneficial.

However, this 'logic' is more cleverness and street smarts than it is in educated smarts. And while he does want to rule, he wouldn't go against his brother to do so. He is trying his hardest to secretly get the people to rally behind his brother and replace the Targaryens in the throne...but his ultimate motive is to be Hand of the King so he can rule. It's hard to gain his trust and affection, but if you do, you are probably the most protected person in Westeros.

The youngest two, Elia and Rhoynar, are fond of combative activities, Obella is a master of the body as well, but not in the same way, and the last, Nymeria, is stuck in her books- a traitor to her namesake, they like to jest. It's no matter, Allyria can lash her with a shaft and the next day suffer a killing blow from her sister's razor of a tongue. Allyria longs to one day be sharp enough, herself, to shut the woman up but she knows in all likelihood she will never be so. She has yet to find her passion in life but she knows it is not the books or chatter at a table, the closest she's come to finding it is the feel of another woman in her arms.

Perhaps it was in an effort to find her passion that she suggested her travel to the Red Keep. Maybe it would be the feeling of power that came from holding a sword rather than a spear, or the beauty of the capitol's great Sept, or maybe northern women would drive her to her bed sheets as often as any man pulled Obella there. No matter what, she had determined not to return to her native sands until she has satisfied her longing for she knew not what. She can be easygoing and friendly, and is determined to be accepted by everyone and universally recognized as someone fit to be the Head of House Velaryon. As a person, she is quite free-spirited and tends to need a break from her responsibilities as Lady of Driftmark.

Because of her family's slightly careless and not-so-strict ways of teaching Aelinor to be a proper lady, as a result, she has grown to act a bit tomboyish. After her youngest brother Rhaenys passed away, she brought it upon herself to fill his shoes - regardless of her gender and expectations. She had no problem with learning to become a ship captain, and in actuality she excelled at seafaring from the beginning. She isn't exactly accomplished as a woman, but she is definitely a capable seafarer. Aelinor tends to feel inferior to other girls her age, and will put a defensive front up. However, she does this in any situation where she feels as though she doesn't fit in. Her confidence doesn't really travel with her past Driftmark or High Tide, the only exception being when she is on her ship.

Like all people, Aelinor does have negative sides to her. She is quite sensitive, however most would say this is due to her young age and emotional immaturity. She can also be reserved and very guarded, often times appearing to act stuck-up to most on their first impression of her, which of course is unintentional. That being said, Aelinor is very critical, not just of others but also of herself. When in arguments or confrontational situations, Aelinor tends to be very defensive. She never wants to be 'in the wrong,' or at fault for anything. Not that she doesn't accept her mistakes, she does graciously. Aelinor is just the type of person who actively tries to be morally correct with every aspect of her life - and when she isn't, it's a very big issue for her. She despises injustice and anything immoral, and has no problem with being uptight about such topics.

As a young girl, Aelinor would often sail the seas with her family. It was a custom of her House to be excellent at seafaring, and she took pride in such skills, despite learning the majority through observing her brother's lessons. Her father made it quite clear that though Aelinor is the eldest child, her brother Jacaerys was the true heir to inherit Driftmark, the family's wealth, and High Tide. Her youngest brother Rhaenys was next in line. Aelinor understood her role, and though she never wished to be married off, she obeyed her parents as best she could. However, often times her mother would find her at the shore instead of reading, sewing, or practicing her harp.

Her parents are deceased, after being killed by a group of pirates. Jacaerys took revenge on the murderer but sadly in the middle of battle he was killed by another pirate. Due to Rhaenys passing away due to a jousting accident in Aelinor's teen years, she has become the Head of House Velaryon.
