Amy choked out a sob, her hug on Sonic tightening as she began to cry harder, leaning into him.

Sonic held the hug tightly, staying quiet and silently lifting a hand... gently holding the back of her head as he held her closely, his own tears silently streaming down his cheeks.
-
Amy's body wracked with sobs - seeming small and frail in his arms. Her fingers dug into his fur, grasping onto him desperately, unable to let go of her only support.
-
Sonic held her closely and kept his grip tight but comfortable, squeezing his eyes shut and flattening his ears.
"A-Amy, I'm... I'm so sorry..."
-
Amy just continued to weakly cry in his arms, clearly exhausted, hardly even able to hold herself up on her feet.
-
He held her supportively, one arm wrapping around her waist to support her and the other gently holding the back of her head to hold her close; slowly sliding down to his knees and easing her down.
"S-ssh, ssh..."
-
Amy's face ended up buried into Sonic's shoulder, soaking it with tears. She all but collapsed into his arms as her ears drooped and her body continued to shudder with sobs ... although they seemed to be getting weaker with each passing moment, the more Sonic held her.
-
Sonic held her supportively, hesitant for a few seconds before lightly kissing the top of her head and keeping his own eyes shut.
"... I... I-I'll never let you go..."
His own chest began heaving with sobs, ears flattened against his skull with silent breaths.
-
Amy sobbed into him, her grip tight. "I-I'm sorry," she choked out between sobs, "I-- I'm trying - I'm-m trying s-so hard, Sonic...!"
-
"S-ssh, it's ok..." He softly rubbed the back of her head, eyes soft.
"I-I know, and you're doing a great job, A-Ames..."
-
"I'm not," she wailed, "I-I'm not...! I-I don't know what I'm doing-- E-Everyone is depending on m-me and I don't know what I'm doing!!" She slumped in Sonic's arms after her scream, her crying suddenly going quiet.
-
"..." He held her closely, softly running his fingers through her quills lovingly.
"S-ssh, go on... get it all out..."
-
Amy shook her head weakly, her ears flat to her skull.
-
"A-Amy, it's alright to cry..." He managed a small smile, softly resting his head on top of hers and gently rubbing her back.
"You... you don't have to be strong all the time... h-heh, I learned that from you...~"
-
Amy shut her eyes, trembling weakly, sniffling. "I feel like I'm letting everyone down," she croaked weakly. "Including you..." She shut her eyes, clenching her teeth. "I let them put you here... I gave the order... I didn't stop them from hurting you..." She shook her head miserably.
-
"Amy... you aren't letting anyone down, you're doing an incredible job..." He continued softly rubbing her back, eyes gentle.
"Ames... y-you haven't let me down at all... I-I... you made the right choice, of containing me..."
-
Amy kept her face pressed in his chest, trembling. "But y-you're hurt... you're sick and-- and we throw you in here and treat you l-like you're a criminal...!" Her throat tightened, the words sinking in as she spoke them, and it took everything in her to hold back the flow of tears. She shut her eyes tightly as her jaw clenched, all of her feelings swelling inside her chest and threatening to burst out. Her hands gripped onto his fur and shuddered. "Y-You're... You've saved everyone in here, so many times... You've saved my life... b-but..." She hesitated, before weakly continuing. "I'm... afraid of you, S-Sonic..."
-
He stayed quiet, softly rubbing her back with weak eyes.
“I mean, to be fair Ames, after all the things I’ve done now, maybe... maybe I could be considered a criminal...” He continued to hold her supportively, smiling slightly despite the tears.
“And, I... I know you’re afraid Ames, I am too... but keeping me locked away, from everyone else... it’s the safest thing to do right now...” He lightly kissed the top of her head “And I’m proud of you, dear... for being so strong, despite all these trying times...”
-
“But I don’t want to lock you up...” she whimpered, her ears drooping. “Without anyone to talk to... you’re just... w-wasting away...” her jaw trembled as she sunk down lower in his arms. “It’s the disease’s fault, but... w-we can’t...” she weakly punched the ground with a sob. “We can’t do anything to help...”
-
He held her closely, softly rubbing the back of her head and shutting his eyes.
"Amy, it's for the best... as painful as it is, we both know that's true..."
