  • // trying to get this guy back in action

Sprucepaw hadn’t been out of camp too much since becoming an apprentice, much less done anything very... strenuous. He’d hunted and gone on a few patrols but if a something like a fox were to attack, he’d probably die. The fluffy point tom was determined to try and do something today, and so he’d gone out and climbed a tree. Easy, right? He’d had some fun and had finally fallen asleep on a high, thick branch.

About half an hour later, clouds rolled in and a cold rain started to fall. Sprucepaw jerked awake, his paws scrabbling against the slick branch he was perched on. The forest was suddenly dark, and thunder boomed overhead. Oh no! Where was he? He tried to lean over to see where the forest floor was, only for his paws to slip. He gripped the branch tighter, righting himself in one fluid motion. While that might have been cool on a normal day, now it was just scary. Sprucepaw has no idea what to do, but didn’t want to call for help. No, no, he could figure this out....?

  • Thunderstorms were uncommon during winter, but not impossible. Today, it seemed Starclan wished for there to be a storm. The pitter patter of rain woke the ginger warrior. She blinked her eyes open, and gazed around. Pebblecloud seemed to be still sleeping, so she decided to go catch him something. He would surely be hungry when he woke later.

The feline slipped out of the camp, not minding the cold rain falling along her back. This hunt may be unsuccessful, but the least she could do was try. As she quietly listened to the charred forest around her, she almost thought she heard something above her..Flameseeker would look up, then notice Sprucepaw clinging onto a branch for dear life.

"Sprucepaw!" she exclaimed, running towards the base of the tree. As she stood on her back legs and sunk her claws into the bark, she winced at how slick it was becoming. "Hold on! I'm coming to get you." Slowly the tabby heaved herself upwards along the trunk. The last time she had climbed a tree was before her accident with the monster.

  • Duskeyes didn't see what was happening at first. She wove around the bushes blinking rain from her dark eyes. Her heart lurched. A young one was stuck. The brown molly watched a clanmate clamber up the tree. If they fell....

"Crowsight! Help me! We can pile snow for them to land on!" Duskeyes called over the thunder. Her paws went into the white frost and she pulled up hefth scoops until a pile was forming. She only hoped Crowsight would help her.

  • The call of Flameseeker below came as both a relief and a huge embarrassment to Sprucepaw. Here he was stuck, asking for help. He was a warrior apprentice? Shouldn't he be able to do this on his own? But his thoughts were drowned out both by thunder and by the relief in his veins. He was glad someone was here. The point tom was not dying today, not at all. More voices flittered from down below, but Sprucepaw kept his attention on Flameseeker. She was climbing the tree; wasn't that dangerous with it being so slick? He himself was having trouble just standing. "B-Be careful, Flameseeker," Sprucepaw called, ears flat on his skull. What would they do once she reached his perch? Stand with him? Make him jump or climb down? He gulped, eyes wider than they'd ever been, awaiting his hero to reach him.

  • It took awhile, but finally she reached the branch he was perched on. The trunk was growing slicker by the minute as the rain continued to fall from the sky. The fire colored warrior eased herself onto the branch, then motioned with her paw for him to come. "Come on, we are going to climb down." she would say, backing herself onto the trunk again. She would stay there until he reached her.

"We will go slow. If you feel like you need a break, we will stop for a bit, sound good? I will walk you through it." This certainly was not the ideal element to learn how to climb down a tree, but everyone had to learn sometime...right?

Scrambling over to the scene, Rosewater looked up through the rain pouring down, blinking against the steady drops, and found Flameseeker and Sprucepaw a decent ways up a tree. Golden eyes widening when she realized the precariously situation, Rosewater tensed slightly. She would stay to watch things unfold, but she was ready to race back to camp and fetch Heatherpaw should either one of them - StarClan forbid - fall from the tree and need medical attention. Oh, she really hoped they didn't fall. They didn't need an injury like that happening, especially not now when herbs were likely running low because nothing was growing. Tail flicking back and forth anxiously, Rosewater tried to keep her paws still, anxiety making her want to pace uselessly.

    "don't you mind?"

  • Duskeyes nodded to her clanmate chucking snow with her. She turned and padded it down softly before lifting her head in time to see another clanmate charge off to find a medicine cat. She sighed softly but felt her heart heat up at the thought of the young one hurt. It sting like a biting retort.

"Just go nice and slow. You'll be okay little one. Follow Flameseeker's words. We'll be here for you." She called up with that nurturing warm nuzzly voice she used when Whitekit was afraid.
