  • They were foggy images, blending in with the shadowy new world they had discovered. The foreigners' scents were muddled by the marsh mud underneath their feet. Dim figures waited politely against the brink of Silent Marsh's depths. The melanistic vixen stepped forth, a twinkle in her orange eyes. "Hello? We're here to join ..." she stammered, her paintbrush-tail hooking around her paws shyly. Her rabbit-heart beat hard and fast as she hoped the tribesmen showed up soon.

  • next would come the charming mutt, a twinkling smile on wispy golden fur as he had approached. jackie, as optimistic as ever, had given a playful bump to the smaller canid. "shy, lil’ polaroid?" a teasing tone, thick with a new yorker accent, the male was quick to take over the situation.

he adored polaroid, he really did! but…it seemed she wasn’t the best in these situations. of course, the extroverted golden was used to this. commonly approaching crowded places, shouting out headlines, it was all the work he adored. everything he had known. ever since he was young, jackie only knew about selling papes and papes only.

  • ✦ ✧ ✦ Joiners were rare around here, Valhalla was practically a ghost town but it worked in her favor. As much as she and Anko butted heads she doubted the thought of exile never occurred to the queen. As much as she wanted to dub her as weak Kukiko did know how to fight and if necessary would defend this disgusting marsh. Not out of a sense of honor or duty, she gladly watch valhalla burn but more out of a yearning to fight. She wouldn’t ever say no to a chance for bloodshed. The Marauder pushes her way through the swampy surroundings, disturbing slumbering wildlife as well as tearing through undergrowth or low hanging trees as she made her way to the border toward these two small creatures.

She sneered down at them; they wouldn’t last a second against her. So teeny and insignificant she could crush them with a flick of her claw. They wished to join and she had no qualms, they wouldn’t cause her any problems right? "Yeah sure. Welcome to Valhalla, just keep your head down and don’t fuck with me" she purred with a wink "Unless you have a deathwish than feel free to" she cackled meanly. Before hunching down to look at them better. "So what do you two call yourselves?"

    "Speech"

  • Zeppelin let out a breath through his nose, his mouth forming a thin line as he glanced over at Kukiko's response to the joiners. The feline padded over, keeping his distance from her and glancing at the two young ones who had been faced with her empty greeting and slightly threatening replies. "You do have to excuse her," he said tersely, not looking back up at the dragoness. "Welcome to Valhalla, you two. I'm Zeppelin, and that's Kukiko." He motioned to her with his tail. "But yes, names would be good."

  • "Hey! Wait for me!" a smaller voice exclaimed as a ferret like creature came running towards the group. They always ran off without her! She had smaller legs and a more feeble body, she couldn't keep up! What if she got lost, who would be scared then? Press just needed to sit on someones back and get a ride all the way to Valhalla. It wasn't some sort of short stroll either, that was a pretty long travel they had just had and she was really tired. Truthfully the femme just wanted to sit down and relax for a day or two, take out her journal and write some of the things she had seen on her little walk. Hopefully this place would let newcomers in on the spot, they really needed a home right now. Traveling and working on the newspaper wasn't a fun job. She seemed to arrive behind Polaroid and Jackie with other locals already asking questions. One seemed really rude, which frightened her. She really didn't want to walk all the way back to where they had just been. Like, really didn't. Although the other, and much nicer feline, seemed to be very welcoming which excited her. "Hi! I'm Press, this is Polaroid and Jackie!" she exclaimed pointing to the darker colored fox and mutt appropriately. She hoped they didn't mind her introducing them. "We are part of an Agrelos newspaper company and we need a place to settle down, y'know?"

EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!

  • The munchkin author of their soon to be Agrelos Times had trouble replying, and finally caught a breath of relief as their ferret friend piped up. Excuse her behavior? she wondered, thinking about what Polaroid had said. The dragon was quite rude and scary. That meant she was always like this, it seemed. She felt a squirming sensation of squeezing anxiety in her chest, and felt just a bit more tinier compared to everyone there. "Yes. We're starting a news company ..." she squeaked, quiet as a mouse. "Um, we need a home ... ?"

Her question hung in the air and her head remained ducked, unable to meet everyone else's gazes. This is really scary. There was a dragon! What if this was all just a trick and they were wrong? Please, don't eat me! She felt her legs tremble a bit, praying for them to finally get this out of the way so they could get to starting the first edition of their paper. Polaroid just wanted to start copying their finished version, as she knew they would need a lot.

  • The jittery Romanian vampire hadn't seen such a large group of joiners before. He hadn't thought that a lot of people would be willing to stay in a humid marsh such as Valhalla's but it seems like he was wrong. Reluctantheroes doesn't know what this will mean for their group, apart for more activity being spread about the place, but maybe Anko would be pleased? The scrawny lupine stood a couple of paces behind the other Valhallians, looking on at the group of three nervously as he shivered silently in his place. He wasn't sure if it was his place to allow the three to stay but... what harm could it be? They just wanted a home - no one could deny them of that, right? "I... I don't see why you can't stay here." His soft, Romanian accented voice would raise from behind Zeppelin and Kukiko, "Valhalla is... always accepting that of people in need of a new home." A gentle smile curves upon the licorice lips of the copper-eyed vampire, his gaze flickering over to the deputy briefly to gauge his reaction.

  • well…that was a warm welcome…but it didn’t simmer jackie’s light, ever bright as he had smiled wildly. though, it was nice to have someone excuse her. jackie could be the same way, too overexcited and not able to control his own speech. while the other two were more on the calmer side. the largest of the three had made sure to be in front, just in case…he could practically feel polaroid’s rising fear, probably at the oversized reptile. "jackie f. kelley, at your service." with a wink towards the creature with a soft romanian accent, the mutt had lowered himself in a playful bow.

jackie wasn’t the best writer, he never really wrote any of the papers. he yelled out the headlines and sold them, and he added interesting twists to capture the attention of ongoers. seeing him actually writing was a rare sight, but he was a fairly talented artist. a journal of his own, worn leather and filled with concepts and live-sketches. he proved useful in other areas, but he had still been a part of the newspaper he had loved. along with the two smaller creatures.

  • The young cub stared at the figure in front of her. Reluctantheroes: in her eyes, she was just a malnourished, scarred, yet fearful person. Or, wait -- was he a man? She couldn't tell from how frail his figure seemed. She felt like she was inhaling chlorine, adrenaline pumping through her like a shot of morphine. Everything was so new; so dangerous. At the moment, while she felt empathy for the lanky wolf, she also could not help but fear for the worst.

What have they done to him? She was definitely having second thoughts, but she was too scared to speak up. Trying to summon some fake courage, she copycatted Jackie, yipping forcefully, "Oh-- Oh, thank you! Um ... could we get a tour, please? Where ... erm, where do we stay at?" She pasted a smile up on her face, each side hinged to her cheeks, but her posture remained low and broken. No amount of reassurance or false hope could comfort her any amount. She just wanted to hide in an unfamiliar room for a while and get away from all these people ...

  • A newspaper company? Zeppelin was intrigued, to say the very least. When the group of little ones expressed their desire for a home, the Thane cast a glance in Reluctantheroes' direction at his response. He nodded slowly. "Right. You're all welcome to join us, yes. Welcome to Valhalla." He dipped his head in greeting to the three of them. "It's nice to meet you all. I'm Zeppelin Walker, the deputy." It seemed like Kukiko and Rel were the only ones who had decided to join the greeting committee this time around, and he did not trust Kukiko with giving three children a tour, so he glanced back at Rel. "Would you mind giving them a tour, please?"

  • The wink that was sent Rel's way by the golden retriever made the poor lupine smile abashedly, warmth quick to find its way to his cheeks. Well, at least the bunch here seemed to be quite the friendly sort of people. Reluctantheroes was sure they'd like it here, even if Kukiko was a little mean-spirited sometimes. He was sure that was just her way of being nice. "N-Nice to meet you. I'm Reluctantheroes Audax-Xerses but, uh... c-call me Rel." He stammers out, his tail beginning to wag slightly behind him. He was perfectly content with greeting a couple of people before going on his way but, of course, that plan was put on pause when he felt Zeppelin's gaze on him. His brows furrowed with what was asked of him.

Give them a tour? "M-Meh, muh, me?" Copper colored eyes widened a tide and he almost felt the need to ask Zeppelin: "Why can't you give them a tour?" but he finds that quite selfish of him. Zeppelin was the deputy... he had to be busy doing something important around Valhalla. Meanwhile... Rel wasn't much of anyone too important. He didn't have anything better to do anyhow. Besides, he couldn't just say no could he? "S-Sure... I'll, er... try my best." Reluctantheroes glances up to the three joiners, a meager smile on his face. "I-If you're ready... we can go on ahead, then."
