(( just a heads up i maaayyy possibly be switching emma's faceclaim at some point bc lee hyeri (her current faceclaim) has like, no other hair variations other than suuuper short hairstyles - which are cute, but i just don't see it for emma,,, ))

when it was just emma and colby at the bottom of the ladder, they were being very playful, talking about how strong they each were and emma was even saying that she could bench more than colby. pretty bold accusation for a girl with literal noodles for arms. as soon as sam and madison called for emma to come up, she sighed and grabbed the highest bar she could, which was only one above the bottom bar. "let's go!" she laughed as she pulled her chin up to the bar. the first time? easy. the second time? her hands couldn't even reach the next bar. "my arms are too short!" she said, pulling her feet up to a lower bar to start climbing like a normal person. by now, her cheeks were bright red and it was hard to tell if it was from her working out or from laughing. probably both.

when she got to the top, emma stepped out of the way beside madison. she looked down at he ground, seeing colby laughing at the bottom. "i would've had it if my arms weren't so short." she pouted, walking into the doorway, but not actually going inside. it was still dark in there, and whike madison and sam both went inside, emma wasn't really good with going in there just yet without any lights. it smelled pretty musty, but that was to be expected from an old building. "do you have a light? oh wait just kidding, hold up." emma stopped herself, remembering she still had her phone on her. stepping inside completely, she pulled out her phone and turned on the flashlight, fully looking around. it was honestly cleaner than she expected, but the walls were completely littered in graffiti. to emma, she could nearly smell fresh paint.

when she heard colby come up, she stuck her head out of the doorway, facing the boys. "did i win?" she asked, her voice higher than usual.probably because she was trying to be quiet, and her voice always goes higher when she tries to be quiet. emma knew better than to just believe their words, so their actions told her everything she needed to know. "i'll get you next time, this isn't over, brock." she teased, walking fully inside.

colby brock

one by one, each friend went up, until it was just him and emma beefing it up at the bottom of the ladder. colby was purely joking around the entire time, giving emma fake confidence in her actually beating him in their little competition. he was pretty strong, so he didn't really worry at all. he knew emma had a cheerleading background, but the most she did strength-wise is tumbling, which did take a lot of strength, but colby thought he still had her beat.

as she started up the ladder, he immediately bursted out laughing when he saw that her arm couldn't reach far enough to pull her up any higher than the first bar. "awh, that's okay. that's still pretty good." he complimented her, even helping her get her feet up to the right bar. close behind, colby followed, making sure they didn't leave anything at the bottom.

sonce he was taller, the task was much easier for him. he pulled himself up four bars before giving up and climbing up the rest of the way. "whew, that's enough lifting for me today." he said as he got to the top. as if on cue, emma came outside and asked how he did. looking at sam, colby gave an awkward smile. "yeah, you.. totally beat me. i couldn't even pull myself up once. i'm a lot weaked than i though." he said, his tone blatantly telling he was lying.

once the whole group was insides, the flashlights came out and were on full blast. "okay, so i think it'll be easy to get down there from here, but i'd still be careful. all the stairs and everything on the floor is concrete so it should be pretty solid which isn't anything to worry about, but again, we don't know if anyone's here, so we should be careful." colby i structed, looking around and checking any nearby rooms. a strong watery smell came fron certain areas upstairs, which reminded colby of the masks in the backpack. "oh, and since it's kind of musty in here, there might be mold or something. so, if you need a mask, just say something." he told the group. well, mainly the girls.

emma grabbed a mask, debating on whether or not she should put it on yet. to be safe, she paused everything and put on the mask, discovering what madison was doing. nobody could see, but her smile was incredibly wide. her eyes formed two little crescent moons, showing she was wanting to laugh. because they're in such a wide and empty place, her normal laugh would sound way too loud, and it would echo a lot. not only would it be annoying, but it'd also probably get them in trouble, either from someone inside or someone outside. emma didn't want to take that risk.

"you know what, let me lead." emma said confidently, skipping her way to the front before she immediately ran to the back with sam, frantically repeating "just kidding!" over and over. emma had a tendency to act tough as a joke, exhibit one being the pull-up contest she had with colby not even five minutes ago. "i really don't want us to get lost or anything, let me stay in the back." she laughed, covering her mouth with her hands although her mouth was already covered by the mask. her personality really was quite 'out there', and from an outsider's perspective, it probably seemed like she was trying too hard to be funny for content. truthfully, emma never really tries to be different in front of a camera, which is something she's always tried to make her image based off of. what you see is what you get.

as colby led the group, emma stayed back, following the group with her flashlight pointed down. as they continued searching, emma stayed relatively silent, which anyone could find unusual as she's been very talkative nearly this whole trip. emma was just really immersed in the building and the graffiti scattering the walls. she couldn't read half of them but the art was pretty, it's like a free art museum. as soon as they seemed to have found the right passage, emma snapped out of her graffiti-caused trance. "this is insane," emma sighed as they began to enter the first tunnel, which was now being lit up from the flashlights. once everyone was in the tunnel, emma looked at the group. "is there a way to keep that door open?" she asked, her voice somewhat shaky or nearly scared. she wasn't really scared, she was just narcissistic in these kinds of scenarios and thought that the door wouldn't remain unlocked.

when the group was finally ready to set out, colby took the reigns and led the small pack, scanning everything and anything he could with his flashlight. the others were doing the same, but since he was in front, he needed to make sure everything was fine for everyone else. it's a safety thing. and sure, sam and colby may not do the most legal things sometimes, but at least they're safe... majority of the time. safety was always a huge thing for the two boys. they may not be complete geniuses, but they're not dumb enough to forget safety.

"yeah, they should be in a corner somewhere," colby trailed off, leading the group downstairs onto the main floor. "the part of the building we're looking for is like, the office part. or what used to be. the door leading to the tunnels used to be like, some sort of secret employees-only route, so it was in an area that only employees had access to." colby informed the group, never taking his focus off of scanning the area in front of him. for such an unknown building, they had a lot of information. "i have no clue what this place was used for or why they'd need a secret employee tunnel system, but i'm intrigued." he laughed, making light of the situation at hand. it was really weird, how they knew so much yet so little about this building. it seemed like all the important pieces to the puzzle were missing. nobody knew what business went on here, nobody knew anything about this place when it was up and running, things only starting coming out when the building was abandoned. that's what makes the mystery bigger and better.

as if on cue, colby stopped, causing the group to stop. he was standing in the doorway, or what could've been a doorway to a large room, a very suspicious door was tucked in the corner. "i think we found it." colby said, stepping inside the room and heading straight to the door. from the windows outside, the sun was close to fully setting, so only little peeks of orange and pink could be seen, but the light of the flashlights made the room brighter. with a few hard pulls, colby managed to open the door, stepping inside to make sure it was the right door and that it was okay for everyone to come down. stairs leading downwards greeted them first and a long, dark corridor met them afterwards. pointing his flashlight down the hall, a turn could luckily be seen not too far away. "wait, what the hell? it looks like this was lit with candles, that's so creepy." colby said as he walked down further into the tunnel, shining his light on the walls. every certain amount of feet, a candle holder was placed on both sides of the walls, and it was obvious those candles were used a lot, based off of the amount of black ash on the wall right above the candle holders.

walking down the staircase, emma's mouth was wide open the entire time. she had a feeling she was stepping into something incredibly crazy, but the boys had constantly reassured that this place was safe, so emma didn't really feel unsafe. "something isn't adding up." she said, recalling the stories the boys have told about this place. "are you sure this isn't some cult place?" she asked sam, observing the walls and candle holders. at this point, emma really wouldn't be surprised if this turned into some satanic meeting place and the first door they open is the door to a ritual area.

once they reached the split, emma looked down the tunnels madison was shining her flashlight down. "why does that one go on for so long? there isn't anything else in the area, right? i didn't see anything when we were on the hill." she said, instantly becoming wary of that longer tunnel. this building was the only one in the area, since it's surrounded by a forest. wherever that longer tunnel led probably wasn't to another building. looking at the group at they all circled together, emma stayed quiet, listening. it seemed like the boys wanted to go down the left side, which seemed understandable since the closer door was just another empty building.

"long tunnel, right turn, up the stairs to the trash can door. i can remember that." she recalled once sam mentioned how to not get lost. emma was pretty good at navigation, so she'd probably be ableto remember a way out. although, she shouldn't be the group's dependent if it ever came to them having to get out in a hurry. emma gets nervous in stressful situations.

taking off her mask once sam did, she traded him for the camera, holding it somewhat facing down, but still in an easy spot to move in case something happened. "hello mtv, welcome to my crib." she said quietly, mainly since it was echoey in the concrete tunnels. the sudden laughter from colby made emma smile and give out a few giggles, finally being appreciated for her comedy.

not going to lie, colby was getting a little weirded out by this place, the longer they were in there. although, if nothing was known about this place, then nothing major could've happened here, right? "i'm pretty sure the candles are fine. we just associate them with unusual things. that doesn't mean they're always associated with that kind of stuff." colby reasoned, trying to calm the group as well as himself. if he didn't talk himself through nearly everything, he'd be a lot different today.

stopping at the split in the path, colby faced the group. "what do y'all want to do? where should we go?" he asked, his voice a lot quieter. colby often forgot about his surroundings sometimes, and this time they're surrounded by concrete that can make a voice echo for a while. looking at sam, colby nodded when he said they should try the left path. it was a lot more creepy, mainly since emma pointed out that the buildings here were close together, so there'd be no need for such long tunnels. "we can try to see where this one goes, and if we get nothing then we can try the right side. is that okay?" he offered, mainly wanting to get a response from the girls. he already knows they'll probably be down for it since it could be harmless, but it felt rude of him to just make decisions without consulting the group. if he was with anyone else, that wouldn't slide.

colby was the last to take off his mask and just looped it around one of his belt buckles to keep it on him. it looked like a huge hassle for sam to get the bag off, take out or put in the masks, and then put the bag back on. for only a few masks, that wasn't really worth it. but hopefully they didn't need the masks after this. while sam was getting situated with the bag, he heard a near whisper-like comment from emma, which was really unexpected for him. controlling his laughter, he made sure to be quiet so he wasn't overly loud. "this is one weird crib you have here." he commented, surveying the walls. contrary to the building they just examined, the walls weren't completely filled with graffiti. but, it'll probably be a bad idea to use paint in such a small area.

when she heard sams comment, emma shrugged her shoulders. "they all do." she responded. once she gave the camera back, she went back to shining her flashlight around the walls, looking around. the longer they were there, the eerier is became. it was starting to feel like a horror movie.

emma wasn't necessarily scared, she was just unsure about what was actually going on. but if the boys were okay with it, so was she. and with how enthusiastic madison sounded, so was she. but that last thought immediately went away once emma felt madison's arm linked with hers. "let's get this going!" emma added, althought not as enthusiastic as everyone seemed to be.

they were walking for a little bit when they came up to the second path. something wasn't adding up for emma, and honestly this just made her even more anxious. "we should probably... go straight." emma trailed off, staring at the path they could've taken. she was honestly considering saying they should turn back, but everyone seemed to want to go further.

as if on cue, emma's head quickly turned down the hallways madison was pointing at. once madison explained she heard something, emma nodded slightly. "no, i heard it too." emma said. "but it's probably a rock or something that fell from the ceiling." she reasoned, trying to make the situation better. normally emma isn't really a skeptic when it comes to the paranormal, and she doesn't really find ghosts or anything like that scary, but when it comes to ominous noises and jumpscares, she's terrible at that. "let's just... keep going. i think there may be a door or something close." emma said, trying to keep them moving so they don't have to sit on the scary noises from the pathway.

colby brock

colby found himself next to sam, and then at the back of the group. it kind of made him uneasy having the girls at the front, but they seemed okay. he felt sam nudge him on his side and smiled once he heard what sam was talking about. "surely. these newbies are showing us up right now." he joked. looking forward at the girls, colby noticed that even though they were leading, they looked a little hesitant. but that was expected, really. anyone would be hesitant in a place like this. he looked over sam's shoulder at the camera screen, seeing what was being recorded. "that's a badass picture of them, they can use that as like a sneak peek picture." colby's photographer side came out when he noticed how the flashlights made the frame looked. plus with the girls being so cloe, it did look like a really good picture for them. colby will have to remember to make sure they get a screenshot to send to them.

when sam told them to be careful, colby smiled. sam was starting to sound like one of those overprotective parents, but he didn't want to say anything because he knows how the internet can take that comment. when madison replied, colby laughed. "damn, she's got you there, sammy boy." he said, repeating madison's nickname for sam.

as they kept walking, colby barely heard sam's comment, but he was quick to pick it up. "i think so, too. i'm not sure this leads to a building at all like emma said earlier. i think there's a reason this place isn't known." he replied, eyes on the firls ahead of them. even though we wasn't at the front, colby was still very observant and was always watching forward to make sure nothing bad was going to happen.

when they stopped, colby didn't really do much, he just watched the group and listened. nodding his head, he agreed with emma and sam. "going straight is our best bet. we really don't need to be lost in here because we took too many turns." he reasoned. colby was about to start walking again when madison and emma both turned towards the second path suddently. sam took the words out of his mouth when he asked what what was up. colby personally didn't hear anything, but he wasn't as close as they were to the path. "it was probably nothing, but if it mans anything, we're not going that way so we don't have to worry about it." he said, trying to make things better. colby could easily tell these girls were getting freightened, but they didn't really want to go back. was it because they were with the boys? did they not want to disappoint? no matter what, they'll have enough footage for a full video, so there wasn't any harm done if they go back now. looking at sam, colby thought of what to say. "i mean, if you want to keep going we can. if you want to turn back, we can." he offered the girls.

they kept walking forward and emma was honestly beginning to feel a sick feeling in her stomach. something didn't quite sit right with her, but it was probably the uncertainty of what they were getting themselves into. even though madison's antics made emma feel better, there was still this eerie feeling around them all that emma couldn't quite forget about.

once they got within seeing distance of the door, emma squinted to see the door better. to their surprise, it wasn't a door like the others. "maybe this is an older part of the tunnels? like how people add on to old buildings but use modern materials?" she reasoned. surely there's no reason for the door to be made of another material, but whatever makes her brain okay.

when sam talked about opening the door, emma's eyes went wide. yes, there wasn't anything else to do here, but the idea of figuring out what was on the other side of the door freaked emma out. she immediately went to the back of the group, happily being the last one to see the inside of the room. each time sam moved the doorknob, emma flinched. when the door was finally open, emma stayed back, looking over everyone's shoulder to see. she didn't see much, but what she saw was enough.

at sam's cue, the group all began heading the other way. "good lord it smells so bad." she said, referencing to the smell from the room they just discovered. but, there wasn't any way emma was going to stop to get a mask. so, she plugged her nose with her free hand and kept walking. once they were around 15 yards away from the door, a loud clanging sound rang out from behind them, making emma jump and scream in surprise. "i'm sorry," she quickly apologized to the group, picking up her pace to a jog to get out of there faster.

luckily emma remembered where to turn and they were led right back where they started. running up the stairs and out of the door, emma put her hands behind her head, squatting own to form a little ball when she got upstairs. when the group rejoined, emma looked up at all of them, her eyes wide. "what the hell was that?" she said, her voice quiet.

colby brock

colby walked beside sam, watching the girls be silly as they went farther down the path. they seemed to be fine now that they knew they could turn around at any moment, which was great. things finally seemed to be going okay?

they kept walking a little bit further and colby walked towards the front of the group when he heard madison point out that the door was different. it really wasn't like the others, which made it a lot more creepier. "that could be the case, but then this part would've had to be here before any other part of these tunnels. that doesn't make sense." colby replied to emma. sure, she was just trying to make herself feel better, but it was better to be realistic. this door is different because something different is behind it.

"okay sammy boy, let's see what you got." colby said once sam offered to open the door. taking the camera, colby stepped back, getting everyone but emma in the shot. emma stepped back, so it was only safe to say she was a little scared. when sam opened the door, colby got closer, which was a mistake once the smell got to him. but, he needed to get what was inside on camera. he looked at the room through the camera, and colby was shocked. they've seen stuff like this, but not to this extent. "yeah, that's fresh. we need to get out of here." he said, ushering madison ahead of him so she wasn't being left behind.

their pace quickened rapidly, only because they knew what was behind that door. this shouldn't have happened, nobody told them about this. but, normally nobody tell anyone about something like that. "we need to get out of here as soon as possible." he said. right after, the clanging sound occurred, and colby flinched, looking behind them. "what the..?" he said, not seeing anything behind them. looking forward, he saw the group hustling along and colby ran to catch up. he could care less about the camera angle right now, they were playing with some demonic stuff right now.

turning the corner, colby was relieved to see the staircase they were familiar with. he made sure everyone was upstairs before colby moved the trash can to the side and shut the door, making sure it was shut multiple times. he looked at the group, everyone catching their breath. emma looked terrified and colby couldn't help but feel terrible, this wasn't supposed to be scary. "that noise was probably a candleholder or something. that sounded like metal. but we need to get out of here as soon as possible. there could be people around here." colby said, bending down and putting his elbows on his knees for a moment before standing up again.

as the group stayed in the room for a while, emma didn't really know what to say. she was shocked, to say the least. scared? terrified? all the above? anything would count at this point. "and someone actually said this place was harmless?" she said, remembering that sam and colby both said that they heard this place was perfectly fine. it definitely wasn't.

even if she did put her trust in sam and colby to believe that this place wasn't supposed to be bad, emma knew better than to blame the boys. they obviously didn't know about that and they couldn't have done anything differently. this wasn't their wrong, and they've done their best to keep emma and madison safe. speaking of madison, emma looked up at her friend when she asked if emma was okay. standing up, emma nodded. "yeah, i'm okay. just a little spooked." she said, glad that her friend cared so much about her.

their journey out was pretty quick and soon they were at the ladder. emma at this point turned off her flashlight since they didn't need four of them shining in such a small place. when they were at the ladder, colby went down first, followed by emma. basically the opposite way they went in before. it was crazy how they were first at this ladder all happy and joking around. now, they were at this ladder completely terrified of what was around.

when everyone was down, they started their journey to the car. it wasn't long for emma to stop, hearing a loud branch snap a little ways away, followed by someone yelling. she couldn't quite make out what was said, but she knew it was dangerous. "oh my god." she whispered under her breath. colby told them all to run the opposite way so emma did just that. luckily her flashlight was off so she wasn't easily to follow. this day just keeps getting better and better, huh?

colby couldn't believe this was happening. in a way, he was almost mad. the girl they got this information from told them nothing was wrong with this place, and the info she had was recent, too. there's no way she could've been here before all that started happening. they were lied to, and that's what made colby the most upset. as they walked, colby stayed in the front, trying his best to not start ranting to the group. not here. maybe on the way home.

once they reached the door, colby didn't hesitate to open the outside door and lead everyone outside. "let's just hurry and get out of here as quick as possible." he said, reminding himself for the hundredth time. although he doesn't want to blame emma, but he did scream pretty loudly in that tunnel. and the tunnel echoes, plus the outside door was open. someone could've easily heard it and either called the cops or they're on their way to investigate. either way, colby had a feeling someone was going to be here soon.

one by one they all went down, and colby easily remembered the way back to the car. you would think that since they took so long to search, they would've forgotten which way they came from, but colby knew exactly where to go. and unfortunately, it was the same way they heard someone yelling at them. great. "oh fuck," colby said under his breath, instinctively putting his hands on emma and madison's shoulders, in a way to protect them in case anything bad was going to happen. "turn and run the other way, now. turn off your flashlights and just run." he said quickly, switching off his flashlight and running the opposite way behind the buildings.

he couldn't quite tell where he was going since it was so dark, but the moon was out so they had a little light to work with. behind them, he could hear multiple voices yelling at them, but he couldn't make out what they were saying. all colby could think about what how they're getting further and further from their car, and closer to anything else unexpected. "into the trees, hurry!" colby said to the group, heading into the forest.

emma ran and didn't look back. she didn't care where she went just as long as she didn't get kidnapped. she saw the shows in the investigation channels, she knew what people were capable of. 4 good looking young adults in the woods alone? anyone can take advantage of them. and while emma looked vulnerable, she wasn't going to let that happen. when the two of them stopped, emma squatted down again, covering her fave with her hands. "oh my god," she panted, barely getting her words out. she was in shock and her body was not responding well.

"where's sam and colby?" those words made emma freeze. she looked around, they were alone. "oh no," emma said, instinctively pulling out her phone to check for calls or texts. no signal. looking at madison, emma immediately ran up beside her, putting her hands on her shoulders gently. "madison, madi, madi, madi," emma said quickly, trying to calm down her friend. "everything's going to be fine, okay? we're going to be fine and we're going to find them. they're going to be perfectly fine, we know they are, right?" she spoke softly, hopefully calming her friend down. seeing madison like this made emma want to cry, but she knew she had to be tough for madison, since it's one of the only ways she'll feel okay.

once everything was calmed down, emma looked around once more. there were no screams or anything, which is good, at least. when madison suggested movin towards the car, emma nodded. "chances are, they followed the boys, since they had the flashlights. they're smart enough to have turned them off, so whoever was chasing us could be lost in the woods to our left. if we go right, we'll eventually get to where we originally came in." she scouted and eventually started leading the two girls back to the car.

as they walked, emma looked over and saw madison checking for signal. none. when madison started freaking out again, emma stopped, stopping madison with her. "madison, i promise you they'll be fine. they're probably closer to the car than we are. they're smart, they can do it. i promise you." she said, grabbing madison's hand back.

as they kept walking, emma checked again for service, none. instead of putting her phone back, she turned to the camera. "i'm only going to record audio, just so it isn't too quiet out here." emma said, pressing record. "hey, it's emma and madison here," she said softly, her phone clutched in her hand, pointed at the ground. "we're currently trying to get back to the car. we're just trying to avoid thise damn buildings and anything else that's out here." she trailed off. it was weird, whispering for a camera recording that's not even catching anything visually. but just in case anything was going to happen, emma needed a video or something on her phone.

colby brock

colby kept running, letting curse words slip out of his mouth quietly as he kept running. this couldn't be happening. he was beyond mad, and now he was beyond terrified that something like this would even happen. they've been chased out of places before, but never like this.

when they finally stopped, colby put his hands above his head, looking right at where they came from in case they were still being followed. "this is so stupid, this shouldn't have happened." was the first thing he said. the amount of anger he had for whoever set them up was unmeasurable. but, as soon as he heard sam ask about the girls, he stopped in his tracks. "fuck." he said, looking around. he would yell for them, but that'd give their place away. again, this couldn't be happening.

the possibilities of where the girls could be were endless. he didn't want to think of the negatives, but what if they did get taken? they're two extremely cute girls, they'd be prime targets. this made colby shake. "no, no, we can't think of that. they're fine. i know they are." colby reassured himself and sam, pacing in circles. they would know if something would happen to them. those girls are tough and surely they'd make some noise if they were in trouble.

sam was visibly worried, which made colby worry even more. he hated this, boy was he going to go off when they start going home. "i, i think we should start heading back to the car. we can't stay out here for long, and the girls know that too. if they're safe, i know they'd start heading back to the car too." he said, keeping his voice low. he looked around for a better way to go, since the way they came wouldn't cut it. they'd get to the main road a lot faster if they went left, and the right way would only lead them further into the woods. "let's go as far left as we can, and when we hit the main road, we just follow it back to where we parked. and we can see if we can find signal along the way." colby offered, still watching out for any signs of the girls.

as much as he wanted to go back and look for them, he knew that's too dangerous. he knew he'd risk getting them caught, as well as the girls. and the sooner they get to the car and a cell phone signal, the sooner they can try to contact the girls. "god, i'm so fucking pissed. this shouldn't be happening." he sighed, starting the walk to the road. he doesn't know how he'd contact that girl again, but he needed to get down to the bottom of whatever just happened.

emerson carlisle

emma was slightly shaking at this point, but it wasn't as bad as earlier. she just wanted to be in the car, on their way home. she spoke to the phone for a little bit longer, stopping once they reached the tree line. when emma was stopped in her tracks, she looked around with madison, looking for any danger. seeing none, emma sighed in relief. this is finally over. but, she couldn't exactly remember which was the car was. "which way do we go? i think it's to the left?" she asked, squinting to see if she could see the car in the distance. everything seemed to blur together, which didn't help at all.

after, madison exclaimed that she finally had service. instinctively, emma checked her phone too. finally, they had signal! unlocking her phone, she immediately went to her messages to see if she had any from either of the boys. none. but, maybe they didn't have service either. "is it ringing?" emma asked madison as she began to call colby. if it rings then they have signal, which means everyone is safe.

to get them away from the forest as quickly as possible, emma began leading the two down the road, hopefully towards the car. she couldn't wait to see them again, mainly because she needed to know if they were safe. but, if they're on the phone with madison, then they're both safe.

as they kept walking, emma could see the outline of the car a little bit away. "madison! look!" emma said, starting to run to the car. if they are at the car, then they'll be completely safe. stopping at the familiar vehicle, emma knelt down, sitting against a back tire. "god, i'm so glad this is finally getting to be over. now, all we need is the boys." emma sighed, relieved but still visibly tense. she wasn't going to be completely relieved until they were on their way home.

colby brock

"i don't even know, dude. she talked to me on twitter and then sent all the info to my business email. but i bet we can back track it if we talk to the right people." colby said, making sure to move quickly. they didn't know what they were up against out here, so they needed to get to that road as soon as possible. "god, that just, really pisses me off, man. they freaking tricked us. those girls aren't going to forgive us, aren't they? god sam, we fucked up." colby rambled on, his hands covering the back of his head.

colby honestly wasn't going to forgive himself for this, but he really wasn't going to forgive himself if the girls decided to not hang out with them ever again because of this. those girls are incredibly cool and colby really wanted to be good friends with them, but it's like something is telling them no.

"i hope they're okay-" colby started to speak again when he heard his phone ring. wait, his phone was ringing. looking around, colby noticed they were close to the road, which was just behind a few trees. checking the screen, colby nearly wanted to cry. "oh my god sam, it's madison." colby said, a smile on his face for the first time since they started leaving the building. "hello? madison? are you guys okay" colby said frantically, relief running through his body when he heard her voice on the other side.

when he got word that both of them were fine, colby sighed happily. "okay, so since we're both by the road, let's just meet back at the car, okay? we're about a half mile away from the car so we'll be there soon." colby said, putting the phone down to talk to sam. "okay, so they're at the road too, so everyone's safe. they're not hurt, or they didn't say anything." colby said, happy that he's able to say something good instead of bad. "should we run?" colby asked sam.

emerson carlisle

as the girls sat by the car, emma rested her head against madison's shoulder, sighing. "thank god, i'm ready to go home." emma replied to madison. honestly, emma was exhausted. not because of the running, but all the events that occurred today were just adding up to be too much. her emotions were all over the place, her energy was low. either she needed a cuddle or she just really needed a nap. but at this point, both would be nice.

a few minutes later, emma thought she heard the sound of someone coming towards them. the sound of shoes on dirt and gravel. instinctively, emma lifted her head, looking to either side of them. when she heard a familiar voice call the girls' names, emma looked at madison, then stood up to peek over the car. well, she didn't really try to peek, but her height and the car's height were awfully similar, so it was like she was peeking over the car. "sam! colby!" emma said happily, moving to the other side of the car.

before emma knew it, she was being pulled into a hug by sam. it was very sudden, but emma didn't really care. for all she knew, they could've been goners. being hugged by sam was one of the most relieving things she's felt all day. "i-i'm okay. my pants are just a little ripped, that's all." she answered, looking down to see a small tear right under her right knee. it wasn't really threatening or anything, definitely not something to ruin the jeans.

once the reunion party was done, everyone got in the car. colby was the one driving home, but emma still got in on the side she originally sat on. as they pulled out of their spot and onto the road, emma spoke up. "so, what now?" she asked softly, looking forward towards the boys. they had a few hours until they were actually home, so they really had time on their side.

colby brock

the last thing cobly heard from madison was that they're at the car. that was the best news he heard all day. "they're okay, they're actually okay, sam." colby said happily, wanting to leap for joy while he was running. as they closed in on his car, colby nearly stopped. didn't madison say they were here? she didn't lie to them, did she? this isn't a prank, right? they wouldn't do that, surely not.

when he saw their faces appear behind the car after sam called, colby perked up, meeting them where they were. "we're so happy you're okay." colby said, running his hands through his hair as sam went for hugs. once madison was free from sam, colby approached her, reaching out to place his right hand just underneath madison's right elbow. "is anything wrong? you're not hurt or anything?" colby asked, fully concerned for madison. honestly, he could've wrapped her up in the biggest hug possible, but he knew she already got a huge hug from sam, so he thought it'd be best to not overwhelm her with hugs at this point.

when colby knew for sure that madison was okay, he let sam unlock the car and then he took the keys, jumping over to the driver's door. "i didn't forget my promise," colby said to sam as they got inside. colby tricked sam into driving here, it was only fair for him to drive back. it was his car, after all. turning on the vehicle, colby wasn't slow to get the hell out of there. he was nearly speeding to get back to the main highway, he couldn't stand being in that area anymore.

after a few minutes, he heard a small emma voice from behind him, asking what to do now. "shit, we still have the outro." colby said, partially under his breath. "should we just do it now and get it done? i mean, we can also talk about what went down. we got a couple hours until we're back at our house." colby suggested, looking over at sam occasionally. he had the camera, he was basically in charge. "does the camera have enough battery or space?" colby asked. obviously he wasn't going to check it himself.

emerson carlisle

emma stayed quiet, she didn't really have anything to say in terms of what they needed to do on their way home. anything the others decided to do would be perfectly fine by her. although it seemed as if they were going to just talk for a little bit, which was fine. it gave them time now to figure out what was up and get it over with quickly, so they didn't have to dwell on it for a little bit. that's good, because while this adventure was fun, emma really wanted to forget about the whole "being chased by a cult" part.

shifting her weight, emma pulled her knees up to her chest, resting her forehead on her knees. she didn't want to fall asleep, but it was really hard for her to not fall asleep at any moment. it was also one of emma's favorite thinking positions. being able to isolate herself like that makes emma focus a lot more and gives her better room to think. as she sat there, she thought about what to say as the others talked, mainly sam explaining what happened on their side. what should she say? of course she'd say it wasn't their fault, it genuinely wasn't. why would they bring these girls to a place like this fully knowing what was here? madison and emma don't play with demons or anything like that, everyone knows that.

as soon as emma heard her name, she lifted her head, seeing madison and sam looking at her. "i mean, of course we know you guys wouldn't do anything like that. only assholes would do something like that, and as much as we'd like to believe, you guys aren't assholes." emma reasoned, tapping her knees in a fidgety way.

"i honestly think what freaked us out most was getting chased out." well, no duh, emma. "and i'm going to be completely honest with you guys, and you don't need to sympathize it or anything because i'm being serious. if i didn't scream after we heard that noise, i genuinely think we wouldn't have gotten chased out." emma admitted, biting her lip as she rested her chin on her knees. looking between sam and madison, emma continued. "there'd be no reason for anyone to come out here if there was no noise. i made a noise that fucking echoed and went out through the door we kept open. i was the one who made us get chased. i'm sorry." that thinking really made her more mad than anything. the math made sense in her head, and it all seemed to click once she actually had the time to think.

colby brock

as colby drove, he kept glancing in the rearview mirror, just to see if they were still being followed. it's a habit of his every time they get chased out of somewhere, but he's never been this scared before. god, he hated this feeling. his anxiety was starting to get higher each minute. but he knew it would go away once they were on the highway. he's only like this because of their situation. they're playing with a cult and he's got a carful of his best friends, he's the one driving so he's the one that is keeping them safe right now. it's all in his hands.

his leg uncontrollably tapping, colby listened to the conversation, nodding as sam explained their side. "it's honestly beyond words. i'm going to try to talk to someone... anyone to try to figure out who it was to get to the bottom of it. there has to be a way." colby put in his two cents, keeping one hand on the wheel as he ran his other hand through his hair in aggravation.

once emma began talking, colby nodded along, grateful that they were so understanding of them. and after she finished talking the first time, colby nearly laughed. not because he didn't believe her, but because she said it in such a comedic, sarcastic way, it was hard for him to find it not funny. at least she was trying to lighten the mood at least a little bit. that's the classic emma colby knew.

but, that all ended as soon at he heard the next words she spoke. did she think... that this was her fault? "emma..." colby sighed, trailing off. there's no way in hell he'd ever let her get away with pinning this on her, there's no way. "emma, it's not your fault. that was a fucking cult that chased us," colby started, his voice a bit gentle to get the point that he wasn't trying to sound aggressive. "even if that candleholder or whatever didn't drop, they'd probably still be in the area anyways. you had nothing to do with it." colby tried to get it through her head that this whole thing wasn't her fault. colby knows how tough it is to convince someone like this, or how to convince someone that something wasn't their fault.
