Panic and confusion and defiance cried from their voices and Alkem reveled in the power he had to sow these riders of conflicts among these creatures. He turned around, his eyes snapping to the injured winged liger attended to by the dog. They seemed the most vulnerable right now, tied together by that familiar bond, and that brought back a spark of memory, a cool touch on his cheek. There was an irritable growl as he wiped away that thought and in that moment of hesitation, he saw that they were joined by a lion--their protector? Father?

It seemed to pour more molten anger into his heart. A roar ripped from his mouth as he swept down again, aiming to ram Gabriel aside with his head and snatch up both Persephone and Candela in one large taloned paw. Meanwhile, seeing that there was one of them with water elemental, that would be his next target. Another jet of fire would spurt hot from his jaws, hoping to burn down the watery shield that Spotteddream produced.

  • ✦✦✦ All it took was a jet of Alkem's elemental power to envelope Spotteddream in a specter of steam. Shit! Her vision was obscured by the billowing veil of fog, so when the sensation of blistering heat singed her flank, she was completely caught off guard. There was no time for her to evade the cascade of fire that seared the flesh clinging to her ribs, and no time for her to cuss the pain away. She wasn't about to succumb to a mere flesh wound, was she? Summoning all the strength she possessed, she staggered onto her feet once more, and began seeking her assailant in the shroud of vapor. "Not bad. I almost bruised a knee." Blinded by adrenaline, she was completely unaware of the severity of her injuries.

By the sounds of bemusement that echoed on either side of her, she quickly discerned that her clanmates were still struggling to subdue the beast. Adding to her sensations of panic was the fact that she couldn't see the chaos transpiring around her. Much to her embarrassment, her elemental onslaught had completely backfired. Thankfully, her acute hearing compensated for her loss of sight, with which she was able to detect the resonance of Alkem's footsteps. Without considering her own safety, she stumbled towards the source of the noise just in time to witness Alkem attempting to abduct Persephone and Candela. "The children!" Still heavily bridled by the now gaping wound that smoldered on her side, she attempted throw herself onto the children with the final ounce of vigor she had left. "Do what you will with me, but you'll never hurt these two as long as I'm alive!"

It hurt. Of course it hurt. Her wing was blistered and red, feathers singed off. It only made sense that the paid would radiate and affect her, however she did her best to pay no mind to it. No Paladin would give up after an injury, especially one that shouldn't affect her mobility too badly. Persephone had tunnel vision, and she was adamant on watching this disgusting creature go down.

Seafoam eyes met Candela's, pupils reduced to pins in the midst of her anger. Even with her (very obvious) crush on the other, she couldn't find a reason to settle down and accept that it was her turn to run. Candela's pleading only made her clench her teeth further, "I don't want to be seen as just a kid anymore, Candela. It sucks. I want to be a part of something, I want to help," she growled, sidestepping away from the other's touch. Her ears only rung as her father came over to reprimand her, her eyes lingering on his burnt skin. Her snarl faded slightly, before it came back shortly after with his threats, "I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying right here," she huffed, swinging her head back around to catch up with whatever battling had occurred in the meanwhile.

However, apparently, 'staying right here' meant playing right into the nasty claws of the intruder. She let out a shrill scream as she was scooped up, partially out of fear, but more so because her damaged wing was being handled to carelessly. Whelp, so much for being a help, "Let me go you disgusting mound of rotten prey!" she yelled as she was being jostled, trying to find some sort of footing in her captor's large paw.

-- A quiet, frustrated growl escaped his throat. He began to respond, and yet as he opened his mouth to speak, something slammed against his chest, knocking the air from his lungs as he crashed to the ground, thrown out of the way without being given any chance to fight back. Panic gripped him as he saw Persephone in the dragon's grasp and heard her scream, and despite the ache radiating through his body, he managed to regain his footing. Without a second thought, he rushed toward the creature, lunging towards him and attempting to dig his claws in wherever he could.

  • Spotteddream throwing herself over the kids surprised him. Slit pupils narrowed even further and a bemused smirk drew his mouth into a savage grin. "How noble of you, but your sacrifice will be in vain," Alkem rumbled. Why not take her, too?

The dragon let out a roar of pain as he felt claws dig into his hind leg, but he kicked out savagely, hoping to dislodge Gabriel. Then, should that work, he would attempt to scoop up Spotteddream as well and then lift off with heavy beats of his wings, off to the mountain.

// PHASE II will be up soon!

  • Canoris didn't like the sounds she heard from behind her as she tried to get everyone back in camp safe while the "big kids" took care of the asshole dragon. Why did it always have to be a dragon? She wondered briefly if he was a reincarnation of her father, Ululare. But no, it couldn't be. He was much too... emotionless.

Great spirits she hated how useless she was. She'd just have to call everyone together back at camp and see what the hell they were going to do next.

  • ✦✦✦ Spotteddream's minuscule frame was no match for the robust dragon. Before she could react, let alone process what was taking please, Alkem seized her with minimal effort. Suddenly, the thought of offering herself as a blood sacrifice seemed eminently unappealing. Try as she might, her elemental powers were far too debilitated to do any significant damage to her captor. Not only were her efforts to save Persephone in vain, but she would likely die watching her clanmates suffer. "This better be quick." Her growled utterance was muffled by the sounds of cursing and scrimmage, which didn't seem to phase the behemoth in the slightest. As forlorn as it may have seemed, she hoped that she and her clanmates' suffering wouldn't endure for very long. For all she knew, their bloodshed would lead to a fate far more detestable for BlizzardClan.

-- Gabriel hit the ground with a thud as he was thrown from Alkem's leg. He didn't even have time to regain his bearings and stand before the dragon was taking off with his daughter, as well as other BlizzardClanners. He forced himself to stand despite the ache radiating through his body, determined to do what he would have to do in order to get them back. Waiting would be the worst of it, but it would have to happen as the Clan figured out what the next step would be.
