VALENTINE HARBINGER
( THEY SAY ALL SHOULD FEAR GOD )
Things had changed. Only a blind man would have been unable to see such, but even the scent of the place had shifted into one of unfamiliarity. The rolling dunes of sand brought back memories of when he was younger, when he, Serpentine, Michael, Gabriel, and his other long lost littermates had once strut around this territory like they owned the place. Technically they had, being the children of Aima and Gilbert. They were the princes and princesses of the Harbringer name. Creatures all throughout the clans knew their names. But now new families ruled, and his family was now legends told to young ones.
The tall serval walked silently across the sun warmed sands, his chocolate gaze alert as he neared a border he once knew like the back of his paw. How many joiners had he accepted here? Valentine allowed himself to pause and reminisce in the memories. Being here once again made him miss his brother deeply. Val and Serp had a bond that they did not share with their siblings, it was strong, and it led them both to great things. But Serpentine had always been smarter and stronger than he, which explains his rapid ascent to leadership. Valentine once had his own taste of it, but it was taken from him as quickly as it had came. Blinking his remaining eye, the half-faced wildcat seated himself to wait. Anxiety clawed at his belly. Returning to his birth clan after so long, he knew there would be no familiar faces to greet him. He knew that his friends and family were dead, or lost. It was a lonely world, no matter how many faces surrounded you. None were familiar. None would fill the hole that gaped within his heart.
