  • Levi moved an arm around Everette and nodded. He finished his cigarette and huffed, flicking it off to the side. He hugged Everette a little closecto him as they entered the house.

  • “I’d like to go back to what’s left of my house soon, whenever it’s convenient for you,” Everette informed him, softer now that they were inside with the sleeping Lindsey. He didn’t want to wake her up, it sounded like it was the first time she’d slept in ages.

  • Levi nodded and looked Lindsey with a sad smile. He moved over and knelt by the couch, giving her forehead a small tap. "You gonna stay on the couch all night?" He whispered, not wanting her uncomfortable. She just gave a shrug, not even opening her eyes. "You dont want to go get in bed?" She just shook her head. "Ok." Levi sigh, standing and putting the blanket over her. It did seem like she hadn't slept in awhile, Levi honestly wouldn't doubt it.

  • Everette pulled his flask from his duster and refilled it with moonshine, and then put it back in its spot safely. Where they were going, he’d need it for sure. And maybe even then some.

  • "Well be back in a bit Lindsey." He assured, earning a sleepily hum in reply as she cuddled back up into the blanket Levi had given her. "I gotta get some happy juice, give me a second." He sighed, moving off to refill his flask in the kitchen.

  • Everette nodded and moved back outside to mount up on Henry. While he waited he braided some fresh flowers into his mane and just pet him, which Henry enjoyed very much. He tried not to think about what he might see when he got there.

  • Levi filled himself up for the ride, bringing what was left in the bottle with him incase. He sighed and mounted up on War, putting bith bottle and flask where they belonged. "Lead the way Ev, im right behind you "

  • Everette nodded, and off he went. “My mother and sisters were never buried. So their bodies are still there somewhere among the ashes. Just was never brave enough to go and face that before,” he explained as they rode along.

  • Jesus, this would be all sorts of fun... Levi sipped a bit from his flask and quietly followed after Everette. He didnt say a word, just listened to the growing night. He always really enjoyed the night time.

  • When they finally got there, Everette stopped Henry in his tracks just to stare at the charred remains of his childhood home. Some banisters and beams were still standing, but they were badly burnt, and looked as if they could fall any day now. He grew a little sick to his stomach, so he hopped down off of his horse to bend over and retch and gag. Nothing came up, but the anxiety from the situation still propagated the nausea.

  • Levi looked along the house and narrowed his eyes. Why was this place oddly familiar to him? He was sure he hadn't passed it enough during bounties to have it holding a place in his mind. Levi nudged War, wanting him to lap around the property a moment so Levi could get a better look.

  • The wind and animals were eerily silent as Everette approached the outline of the home. He couldn’t even hear the birds chirping. All he could hear was his heart pounding in his ears and the leaves of nearby trees rustling. He slowly and very carefully stepped into the burnt foundation and just started picking around in the ashes to see if there was anything he could salvage.

  • Levi narrowed his eyes. He took down another mouthful and glanced at War. He examined the land around the chared remains of the building. "Go..." He hushed, wanting to see what else might be here. Why did it bother him?

  • Everette was able to find a photo of his mother, his baby portrait, and a metal toy cat that his sisters used to play with. Everything was going fine until he stepped on something and heard a snap, a crunch. When he looked down and saw a skull, that’s when he absolutely lost it and let out a bit of a scream.

  • Levi watched through his binoculars, studying the horizon. War's ears gave a twitch when he heard Everette. He gave a snort and turned back towards the house. Levi lowered the binos from his eyes. "What?" He tugged War on and War trotted back up to the house. "Everette?" He called, packing his binoculars up.

  • Everette didn’t take long to descend into hyperventilation, stumbling back and falling into the ashes. He looked up at Levi and pointed at the small skeleton, spitting some incoherent babble and pulling his knees to his chest.

  • Levi sighed and moved off of War. He gave his neck a pat and moved over to Everette. He was careful incase he upset any debris. He lifted Everette up into his arms and removed him from the house, sitting him on the ground. Levi knelt in front of him and cupped his face.

  • “I stepped on her,” Everette struggled to breathe out, and he reached up to dry his face but the tears kept coming. He wanted to give them a proper burial, but he wasn’t sure if he could handle the sight of them anymore than that.

  • Levi kissed his forehead. "I know..." He hushed against him. "How about i bring out what i can find, then we bury them?" He offered quietly. "Just a peaceful send off. A time for you and them only."

  • Everette nodded and pulled his flask of moonshine out of his duster, and just kicked about half of it back in one sitting. He truly needed it. He felt like this was happening to him all over again.
