  • It's been a long, long time since the good guys won. The 'Chosen One' hero from another world already saved us all, he defeated the Dark Lord and brought peace to our home, gave us a breathing room from the monsters that never stay dead, and has once again allowed others from his world to come here to serve as Adventurers too. But that begs the question... when your destiny is fulfilled and you were supposed to die doing so... what do you do when you somehow survive anyway?

The Chosen One was indeed destined to die saving the world, and he almost did... but when the dust settled, the ashes of the Dark Lord began to blow away with the morning breeze, he rose, alive but injured.

Eventually he also found out that he is still unaffected by time, originally a system set in place to ensure he'd never grow too old to fulfill his destiny. And decades passed, eventually giving up with the whole 'adventuring' business since he was too strong for it anyway, he took up a simple life, serving as a forest Ranger for a small village, living in a cabin in the forests and keeping an eye on happenings to make sure the village was safe, usually keeping to himself.

That is, until a deal he made almost a century ago comes time to be paid. He had saved the lives of a noble family among Elves, and was promised the hand of the next King's daughter in marriage when she came of age, well, the next King was crowned and his first daughter just came of age. So one day the Hero, now bearing the simple title of Ranger, finds a beautiful woman at his door, claiming to be married to him.

Things may get complicated, as the retired Hero now has to decide if he wants to actually try this, or just work out a way to politely turn it down.

But since when has the Chosen One backed out of a challenge? (A few times likely but lets not mention that)

TLDR: Two characters: Human 'Chosen One' who already won and fulfilled his great destiny a long time ago (Details on that can be made as desired) Already a ridiculously strong person and likely also has some pretty sweet magical equipment from his time as an adventurer. Retired and now serving as a simple Forest Ranger for a border Village.

Elven... former princess who was promised to said hero a long time ago (At the time he was a lot younger and probably wasn't paying attention, by now he's probably forgotten all about it) and with the time come to pay that debt to him she shows up at his door with that bombshell of her being his wife now.

Choose either and I'll make the other character, this is meant to be a somewhat comedy(Anime after all, when does anime not have at least a few funny moments?) and probably really awkward romance(Again... anime...) With a few moments of classic fantasy action and monsters/magic. Details on the world are to be decided as we go, this is meant to be fun XD.

  • Just for reference, going to go with D&D/Pathfinder level and Challenge rating logic for how strong things and people are. Technically no level cap, but the vast majority of monsters 'cap' at level 15, without any Class levels nothing can get above level 5. Your character will probably be at most about level 3 to start XD

    Aiden Stormclaw (Originally Dean Tasker)
Physical age 20, chronological age 254
Class: 10th Level Paladin, 5th Level Ranger, 5th Level Wizard. Total level 20

Favored weapon is a Holy Avenger he named Talon, though he also has a few other magical weapons and armor sets as well as several Wonderous items.

Aiden was an enthusiastic and devoted Chosen One from the start, his past in his own homeworld was that of someone pretty much amounting to nothing, a loser, so when he came here he took up his destiny wholeheartedly, taking his first Level as a Paladin and pursuing his quest to the very end. As his quest itself took almost half a century he grew and matured over time. By now he has wisdom beyond his years for the amount of time he's been alive, he is still a fairly optimistic person and while not nearly as driven as he used to be he isn't a slouch. In current times he usually ignores politics and changing territories or alliances and kingdoms, preferring his simple life in the forest outside a village with his simple schedule and less stressful tasks, like driving direwolves and goblins away from the village boundaries and negotiating with stronger monsters to protect the place. He takes most things in stride, though he still does get surprised all the time. Overall he's a surprisingly cheerful but level headed fellow and plenty nice to others, just, more quiet than he used to be.

    Princess Ivelle Alainis Reydi

Physical age: 20s Actual age: 120

Class: 1st Level Druid, 2nd Level Barb

Weapons: A scimitar and a small dagger, carries a lute and a violin with her

Ivelle is about as far from a seasoned warrior as you can get. The only thing she knows about weapons are that they are sharp. She will do just about anything to get out of a direct fight. She is a little better with her magic, but still seems to mostly try to use it to try to avoid direct confrontation. Ivelle can be somewhat stand offish and uninviting to most people. She is slow to warm up or make many friends. She loves a good story or two and might tell a few of her own, whether they’re truthful or not. She does enjoy being out in nature, but probably wouldn’t survive more than a night or two if she were stranded out on her own.

(I’m pretty much clueless when it comes to d&d or pathfinder so hope her classes and levels makes sense. I took my best stab at it)

  • perfectly fine XD))

Aiden walks through the woods, hoping to get back to his house before dark so he could get some firewood set up for the next day, along over his shoulder was a deer he had hunted for earlier after he had taken care of a few other tasks like finding a village child who'd wandered too far into the forest and drew the attention of a bunch of goblins, just Aiden showing up was enough to scatter the things and he got the kid back home safely. He was tired by now, ready to drop off to bed as soon as he got... home...

    "Um... need something miss?"

play she is not a village girl, way too pretty... and an Elf to boot. What is an Elf doing so far East anyway?

to Ivelle, Aiden had simply appeared out of the treeline, he didn't look much older than her with warm brown hair and amber eyes, he wasn't unattractive, but he definitely didn't give off Chosen One signals, he just looked like a new adventurer.

  • Ivelle had come to come a long way from home to get here. Where exactly here was she couldn’t say for sure. Staring at what she would call a shack she was in disbelief that the supposed Chosen One lived here. Just as she was starting to have her doubts about him actually living here, she practially jumped out of her skin when a voice came out of seemingly nowhere. Putting her hand over her chest the young elf quickly pivoted around to meet whoever was coming out of the trees.

Ivelle didn’t bother to hide her astonishment when she came fact to face with an adventurer with a deer slug over his shoulder. Blinking she wondered how she’d gotten so turned around now. Whoever this was didn’t resemble a legendary hero at all. Placing her hands on her hip she gave him an assessing look. “Yes, I am here to find Aiden Stormclaw?” Ivelle stated matter of factly even if she wasn’t sure she was in the right place in the first place.

  • Her eyebrows slowly went up when he confirmed that he really was Aiden Stormclaw. “Simple, I am your wife. Or at least that is what was agreed upon.” She didn’t bat an eye while saying it. She pulled out a sealed envelope from her bag, stamped with seal of the current Elf King. Offering it to him Ivelle tucked a piece of auburn hair behind her ear. “Oh yes I almost forgot to introduce myself properly. I am Ivelle Aliainis Reydi.”

    (Basically Aiden's current expression)

Aiden stares at Ivelle blankly for a moment.
    "Wait come again..."
Aiden couldn't remember ever making any deal that ended in being married so he wasn't entirely sure what this was... well... shit... As he read the letter it came back to him.
"Hero Stormclaw, you have saved us what would you take as compensation?"
"Um... I don't really need anything..."
"Please take something! We owe you so much!"
"Um... I guess you could come up with something, I'm not too picky."

At that point he had stopped really paying attention, but he remembered it involving the next King's daughter and being married now a century after the fact.

Fantastic Aiden... your youthful enthusiasm for saving people mixed with your lack of attention span has gotten you married without even knowing it! Fantastic Aiden... well how do we fix this?

"Um... Why don't you come inside... I kinda need to... figure this out."
He walks past her to open the door of his cabin, it was much more homey on the inside, still simple, clean enough but it was obvious that the owner wasn't home very often.

"Uh... take a seat I guess."

  • (XD)

Ivelle tapped her foot looking at him, she sighed to herself when he didn’t seem to even understand what she was saying. If this was the Aiden Stormclaw, her family was so indebted to then he should know about all of this ahead of time shouldn’t he? Standing there while he read the letter she looked around the woods surrounding his home...wait wasn’t this her home now too? What exactly had she been signed up for? Sighing to herself she stepped in after him looking around the house as she did so. It was a little better on the inside at least. Settling down in a chair she crossed one leg over the other tipping her head a little to the side. “What part exactly do you need to figure out? I thought it was written so even a simpleton could understand it.” The elf tapped her chin, not really seeming to register the chance that he might take it as an insult.

  • He gives her a brief frown and takes a seat, he unsheathes a beautiful sword and leans it on the wall beside him, if any proof of his identity was needed that would confirm it, the sword was Talon, a Holy Avenger sword and made by Elves fro use by the Chosen One specifically, it was famed for the power it had gained in Aiden's use.

He looks at her for a moment.
"Well, I was a lot younger then, and I'll admit really, really uncomfortable at the number of very beautiful Elves who all seemed really interested in all rewarding me for helping your grandfather... I was just wanting to get out of there... I forgot about this entirely until just now, my life, if you can imagine, isn't really peaceful... nor does it leave a lot of time for me to remember things like this, and to boot I was fated to die... so I wasn't really expecting anything like this to happen at all."

  • The Elf leaned back a little in her chair when he just pulled out a sword of all things. She only stopped to look at it when he’d leaned it up against the wall behind him. Ivelle recongized it as a Holy Avenger sword. Deflating a little there was no denying the fact that this was the Chosen One. She sat back and listened although her green eyes kept flickering towards the sword as if she thought he was going to pick it up and use it on her or something. Drawing in a deep breath she frowned crossing her arms over her chest. Well now she wasn’t wondering if he was the Chosen One, now she was questioning his intelligence. “So, you agree to a marriage pact because you were uncomfortable with Elves being grateful?” Ivelle furrowed her brow. What kind of an excuse was that. He’d signed off on it and didn’t bother to read it at all. Pinching the bridge of her nose she let out a loud sigh of exasperation. “Well, it did happen whether you remember signing off on it or not. That agreement is older than I am.” Ivelle pointed to the letter frowning still. “I can’t exactly just go back home and tell my grandfather, whoopsie there was a little mix up.”

  • For the first time Aiden looks like the Chosen One, his gaze turns stern, his warm brown eyes turning nearly bronze. His Aura, which had apparently been suppressed, leaks out, it was strong, nearly overwhelming.

"Well, excuse me for being in a rush to get out, I was never one who was used to getting gifts or rewards for my actions. And at the time I had greater concerns, like the Lord Necromancer, who was still active and causing trouble."

He relaxes and his aura retracts, his eyes softening again, he sighs.

"But yes, I should have paid more attention to the pact your grandfather made, and I know I can't go back on it, Elven pride is too great for that."

Aiden runs the bridge of his nose.

"I'd rather fight a horde of high level monsters than deal with people and politics, but I guess there's no getting out of this. I guess I should show you around then."

That wouldn't be long, his cabin seemed to only have maybe two rooms.

  • Obviously not expecting the sudden change in his aura she jumped back, almost knocking herself clean out of the chair. She had to use the table to quickly catch herself. Recovering she blinked as he seemed to become less intimidating again. She blinked a few times staring at him shock as he just seemed to pop back to normal without much trouble. Ivelle was still in shock long after he’d moved on. She only changed her expression when he admitted that he couldn’t go back on all of this. “I’d don’t think politics are half as terrifying fighting a horde of monsters.” She muttered to herself before standing up to look around the tiny house. Somehow she didn’t this taking very long. She stretched out her arms above her head still watching Aiden out of the corner of her eye. “How exactly did any chosen one come to live in a place like this?” She asked rather bluntly. Even her father had been amazed when they found out he was living out on his own in the woods instead of some castle or something.

  • "Monsters at least I can just thoughtlessly beat my way through, politics are a different matter."

He stands and picks up Talon, inspecting the weapon a moment before sheathing it.

"Well I wanted a more simple life, no one has any real need of a Chosen One anymore, so having a castle would just mean I have a castle, an empty, pointless structure. A cozy cabin with a nice daily schedule is perfect for me. And better than going back to my own homeworld."

He goes into the other room and returns shortly with a small figurine made of marble depicting a door.

"But I do still have a castle of sorts.... or... I guess more just a personal pocket dimension where i keep my more valuable stuff at."

He sets the figure on the ground and sprinkles a small pinch of dust on it, causing the door to rapidly grow to impressive size.

"My cabin is where I live, eat, sleep and do almost everything, this little place is where I keep most of my extra equipment, tools, money and other odds and ends."

  • Ivelle couldn’t say she could really understand his choice in lifestyle after becoming the Chosen One. Still, she merely shrugged her shoulders as she took a better look at the cabin. “I will give you that it does seem more cozy than a castle does. I still haven’t explored half of my familiy’s castle for myself....” Petereing out she looked back towards him, brow furrowing together. “Did you just say something about your homeworld?” Backtracking she blinked as she looked him over. This Aiden guy really was something out of this world, but she had no idea he actually was from another world entirely. Taking a cautious half step back she eyed him a bit suspiciously. No one had bothered to mention that fact to her either.

She stared at the tiny replica of a door. She jumped back as the door grew bigger and bigger until it almost grew past the ceiling. Ivelle looked from the door and then back to him. “You have your own closet dimension. I shouldn’t expect anything less.” There was a lot she was going to have to learn about the Chosen One. Stepping closer to the door she light knocked on the marble doorframe. “Did you get this before or after your defeated the Dark Lord?” She stepped to one side of the door and then the other. Ivelle still waited for him to open though, as she wasn’t brave enough to try messing with something like that.
