  • Alexander had been hoping that if things were going well for the other male, that he was able to get the change he wanted to. The other male deserved to change things. He recalled from the last time they spoke that Emeric managed to gain more power and was working on becoming a diplomat for the Islands. He just wanted to see him again. He wanted to hold him in his arms, kiss him, and tell him how much he loved him. He had even told his mother all about his lover. His mother already seemed to like him a lot. She was excited to meet him as well. He just kept praying for a call. He kept praying for good news. If the other male had found someone else, he would be completely heartbroken.

A deep sigh of relief left his lips as he heard his voice. “Oh my, Emeric. I had miss speaking with you so much. I had been worried that you got hurt or you found someone else.” He exclaimed. “I have been well. I told my mother about you. She already loves you! Are you going to be coming to the Isles? I really want to see you and hug you. I want to kiss you again as well. It has been such a long time since I have seen you. Are things well for you there? You need to tell me everything! I am sure I have missed a lot.” He rambled on a good bit in excitement of speaking with him.

    Sorry these are terrible))

  • ( it's fine!! )

Emeric was glad that the other was happy, but that did mean that it hurt more to ruin this. The words about 'finding someone else' in particular stuck out to him. "I think I'll get the posting in the Isles, and I managed to get Naeltalos back for being a pain during the war. It's just- That had some... unpredictable consequences." He said, feeling that if he just got this out of the way, then it would be easier for them. No way was easy to say something like this, so there was a long silence as Emeric tried to collect his thoughts.

"In removing Naeltalos, I, uh, I guess you could say I caught the eye of the woman who was going to marry him. He was disgraced, and she would be mad to still marry him, so in light of my mage status she asked my father if she could marry me instead." There was another pause, and Em practically winced before saying what would hurt the most. "He said yes." He stayed quiet then, waiting for a reaction, even Alex telling him that he shouldn't bother coming to the islands because he hated him was preferable to silence.

( thanks, by the way. I'm having a pretty tough time over here & rping helps distract me. )

  • you are welcome! <3 if you need to talk anytime, I am always here to listen. I hope things improve))

Alexander truly had a smile spread across his lips. It was the first time that he had smiled genuinely in a while. “That will be wonderful. I can see you then! I’m glad you got back to him for all he had done to you during the war. He also set those men on me that one time. I am glad that you have given him what all he deserves.” He spoke truthfully. His smile faded a little bit as he heard that it had unpredictable consequences. “Unpredictable consequences...?” He trailed off in a whisper. He couldn’t imagine what that could be. He fell silent as the other male continued to talk. That made him a little scared.

His breath hitched in his their, smile completely fading. “H-He said yes?” He managed to mutter out. Tears were already forming in his eyes. This was it. There relationship was over. There was nothing Emeric could do to get out of this. He was going to marry someone else and form a life in the Empire. He was going to not be apart of his life anymore. He changed the frequency without saying anymore. He threw the voice-caster off to the side and rushed out of the house. He didn’t know where he was going. He almost felt like there wasn’t a reason to live anymore. He found himself heading towards the mountains.

  • From what he could hear, Alex sounded upset. That was to be expected given what he just told him, and what he was about to tell him. "Yeah, it's a difficult situation and I'm not sure that I can- Alex? Are you there?" he said, stopping when he noticed that the light had changed on the voice-caster. Emeric had expected shouting, crying, anything. He tried to tell himself that Alex wanted him to be honest, but honesty was a double-edged sword, he had to have known that. Something about it unsettled him, but he couldn't quite figure out why. What he did know was that he needed to get over there.

He could always apologise to his father after the fact, say that he wanted to see more of the world before he got stuck as some Duchess' consort, or some other excuse. Very few ships were bound for the islands from Sar-Amel, but there was one and luckily it left the next morning. He would be gone before his family could figure out where. He took money, a few weapons, and of course the voice-caster in case either Alex or his sister tried to contact him. He just wished that the ship would go faster than it did - even going directly to the islands it would take far more time than he was happy with.

( It's just lots of stress from me being a perfectionist & not wanting to tell my parents about it because they'd be disappointed that i've failed 2 of my 3 exams. I'm going to work with someone in my classes to help me study this semester though, so hopefully this time will work out better & I'll pass overall. there's also the kinda shit you talk to a therapist about but i'm a student who can't realistically afford a therapist, my choice is 'get therapist' or 'buy accommodation and/or food' because my budget doesn't allow for both. Also idk if you want to describe what the islands are like in your next post so that i can have Em getting there and trying to find Alex in the post after that?? )

  • :(( I’m sorry about your exams! Everything shall pass and things will get better, I promise! I will describe them :) ))

The Islands were always described as barbaric and ugly by the Empire whenever they talked of them. They wanted their citizens to believe that they were the greatest out of all of the lands. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. The water as you approached the Islands turned to be a beautiful shade of turquoise. You could see the different kinds of tropical fish swimming through the waters. Some dolphins even jumped out of the water to greet the boy as it grew closer to shore. The Islands were filled with green mountains along the horizon. The shore around the exterior of the Islands was white sand. Some people could even be seen swimming. The fish didn’t mind one bit and it showed. Palm trees littered the lands. Everything was green on the Islands. They were a beautiful sight to see actually. Everyone on the Islands were very happy as well. No one fought or argued. It was wonderful. Alexander had described them perfectly when he told Emeric about it. They were nothing like the Empire has told.

Alexander had done something very stupid. He had ended up getting drunk and getting hurt. Someone had helped him back to his house. His right arm was wrapped up. He was sitting on the porch, staring out at the waves with sad eyes. He looked like he hadn’t gotten any sleep for days. Dark bags were underneath his eyes. They were also red from him crying. He couldn’t believe this had happened to him. Almost everyone on the Islands knew of him due to his older brother. They also knew where he lived. The easiest way to get to his house was go by the beach to the back porch. It was more on the secluded side.

  • It was a shock to say the least, to see such a peaceful place when he had only really read about it in a misrepresented way in books. Asking around about Alex, he was pointed in the right direction but he did get a few rather uncooperative people. They didn't know that he was a noble or a mage, and that was probably the reason they helped him. Walking down the beach with his boots in hand to save getting sand in them, he kept an eye out for a house like the one that was described to him and more importantly kept an eye out for Alex. When he did finally see him, he stopped in his tracks, unsure if his lover wanted to see him at all. "Alex?" he called over from where he stood on the beach, the other man probably hadn't seen him yet because he seemed to be staring straight ahead. Emeric was sure that this would be a waste of a trip, that Alex would tell him to leave and never come back because of how much he had hurt him, but it was enough to just know what he thought even if those thoughts were 'i hate you'.

  • Alexander had drowned in his own thoughts, the wounds of the waves crashing on the shore being the only thing that kept him calm. Some of the people that hadn’t been the keenest on helping Emeric could tell basically who he was by the way he was dressed. The Empire and the Islands dressed differently as well. The people from the Isles wore things to help protect them from the sun while not being hot. A lot of people wore shorts and lighter shirts. Some were been barefoot. The one thing he never expected to hear was the sound of Emeric’s voice. It was different from the way it sounded on a voice-caster. It sounded real. He blinked, lifting up his head. His eyes scanned the beach before they landed on the male. He took some gentle breaths. “Emeric?” He called out in response to him. He stood up carefully and made his way closer to him. It wasn’t long before he was standing in front of him. It was clear to see the emotional and physical toll this had on him. “What’re you doing here?” He asked quietly. It wasn’t hard to see his arm was hurt. It was wrapped a little heavily.

  • Emeric couldn't help but feel at fault for this, only feeling worse when he saw the bandages on Alex's arm. With the other man standing right in front of him, and the first words out of his mouth surprisingly not being 'get away from me', Em couldn't help but drop the boots and step forward to hug him, trying to be careful not to hurt his arm further. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I thought- You told me to be honest, so I was but then you didn't answer. I panicked, I thought I lost you." he replied, clearly emotional about the situation, and not as logical or calm as usual. Having a lot of time to himself to think on the journey here had only made it worse, with his mind conjuring up plenty of worst case scenarios in which he never got to see Alex again. It had made him realize just how much the other male meant to him, which he hadn't had time to put too much thought into previously.

  • Alexander couldn’t believe the way that the other male was acting. He didn’t think that he had ever seen him act so emotional or flustered before. Usually Emeric was able to keep his emotions under check. He was supposed to, after all. He was a noble and a mage. Alexander understand that the other male was well sought after. He had never thought that he would lose him though. He tensed up a little bit as the other male pulled him into a tight hug. It wasn’t long until his body relaxed. He even slid his arms around him in return. “I just never expected for you to be getting married. The fact that you aren’t mine anymore... Emeric I can’t live without you. This time apart has killed me. Then you told me that. It only has gotten worse since. Why did you come here? Did you come to shove it in my face more?” His voice was beginning to shake as tears came into his eyes. It wasn’t hard to tell how upset he was about this.

  • At this point, Emeric was too far from home to care about his reputation and he had realised that their relationship wasn't worth sacrificing for it anyway. His emotional reaction probably only showed more just how much this meant to him. "I won't get married then, not to her. My father agreed, I didn't. I can- I don't know, postpone it or call it off completely or just marry you instead. Alex, you mean so much to me. I love you, I won't be so foolish as to leave you." he said, there was a pause before he realised completely what he had just said in the midst of his rushed, emotional rambling. "I'll marry you instead." he repeated, more sure of the idea this time as if it was the best idea he had come up with in a long time. If he cared this much, it only made sense right? He had already promised to never leave him and a surefire way to avoid an arranged marriage would be to already be married. "Do you want to? I understand if you think that's a bit too much." Emeric added, remembering that his words had probably sounded less like a question than he might have intended.

  • As Alexander continues to be held by Emeric and as he listened to him, it made him realize just how much Emeric actually did love him. The entire situation was actually very sweet and very romantic. It brought a gentle smile to his lips. The biggest shock was that the other male wanted to marry him. “I love you too Emeric. I have for such a long time and I will for as long as I live.” He promised. His smile was only growing at the thought that they actually were going to be getting married. “I would love to marry you Emeric. Let’s do it. Let’s get married.” He agreed. He leaned up to give him a quick kiss before he pulled back to speak again. “There is a lot to plan. When do you want to get married? I am sure everyone here can help get a wonderful ceremony set up in no time.” He commented. His mind was running through all of the possibilities then. “You know, this was very sweet and romantic of you. You took a four day boat ride to come and ask me to marry you. I don’t think I have ever seen you this emotional.” He confessed. He was lightly teasing the other male. He grew a bit more serious then. “What are you going to tell your father though?”

  • ( I might be able to post today depending on how much work i get done in the next hour. I didn't think that things were going to get super busy before next week but I was so very wrong. I'll post when I can but my activity these next two weeks is going to be sporadic at best. )

  • ( so sorry about taking so long to reply!! I figured i'd give you an update anyway; I can't post right now, but after my birthday tomorrow I have some time off so I will get a reply up on wednesday more likely than not!! )

  • ( happy birthday!! i'm on the train going back home now so i've got spare time to post finally. so consider me posting after a while your birthday present lol this is kinda bad because I haven't posted in a while, sorry about that!! )

Emeric wasn't entirely surprised that Alex agreed, and the fact that he was so eager to agree did reassure him that they could make this situation work. He hadn't really thought much about the actual wedding, so he truthfully couldn't give much of an answer. "I don't know, whenever you want. Soon? I didn't exactly tell anyone I was leaving, so they'll probably want me back there if the diplomats don't sign those forms." He explained, pausing to search his pockets before speaking again. "I have a ring, though." He offered, holding out a golden signet ring with the symbol of his family - a cobra with a halo made from the sun - carved into it.

Alex raised a good point with what he said about his father. Emeric hadn't fully thought it through, but he had some ideas on how he could postpone the marriage until he got to a point where he could disregard it entirely. "I have a few ideas, enough that I can postpone the betrothal. After he gets sick of excuses, though? I'm not sure." He admitted.

  • thank you! <3 cx I appreciate it. it is a wonderful present!))

Alexander knew that he couldn’t say no to something like this. If he did, he truly was just being crazy. It wasn’t hard to see just how much he actually loved Emeric. The time apart had done him terrible. Then when the other male called to say that he was marrying a woman... well it wasn’t hard to get the gist. He was just so lucky and happy that things were finally turning on the bright side for them. They needed this. “Well let me introduce you to my mother. They can have a ceremony set up by tomorrow or the day after. They I can show you around the Island and you can see everything you have missed. It is wonderful here.” He spoke truthfully. He seemed to be in bliss at the current moment in time. His smile only grew as he saw the other take the ring from his pocket. He carefully took it from the other, gazing at it curiously. He then slid it on. He leaned up to give him a quick kiss. “It is beautiful. Thank you so much.” He murmured.

He pulled back as the other began to speak about his plan to distract his father. “If he gets sick of the excuses, go to the woman and tell her you are already married. Don’t say to who, but say you had promised to marry this person long before your father made you try to marry her. Usually that works. At least, I think it does. Now come on. My mother is going to love you.” He spoke truthfully. He took his hand and began to lead him towards the house.

  • ( I've been working on university work for a couple weeks now i find it super hard to get any balance between work & social life... either one or the other, i can't focus on both oops. But with that stuff out of the way now I should be more active on here. Maybe not always on a computer, so my posts might be shorter than usual more often? I'm back home for a couple of days, so I can write using the laptop sometimes, but I'm going to mostly be on mobile. I also have a dog laying on my foot because she missed me & now won't leave me alone, my foot is going numb but i can't bring myself to tell her to move ;_; )

While their time apart hadn't impacted Emeric as terribly, he had been able to keep himself busy with work to keep his mind off of things, and now that they were back together, he didn't want to have to leave again. It was inevitable of course, but perhaps he could bring Alex with him, say that he hired him as a bodyguard or some such thing. Bringing his mind back to the current moment, he smiled at Alex's words. "It's tradition to trade rings with the symbol of your house on them, to sort of mark you as a member of the family as well." he said, though as he said it was well aware that Alex's family probably didn't have a symbol or sigil of any kind.

Emeric allowed himself to be lead towards the house, stopping himself from asking how Alex could be so sure that his mother would like him because he remembered that Alex said they were very close. "How much did you tell her about me?" he asked, wanting to know just how much she knew, old habits formed in the empire were hard to break.

  • awww. I’m not going to be online March 17-24 because I am going to be on a cruise without any service :( ))

Alexander had more trouble keeping his mind off of everything. Emeric had become such a big part of his life. He had done pointless tasks to keep his mind off of it. Eventually you had to stop doing dumb things and your thoughts would take over. He was just so grateful that the other male came back to him. His biggest worry had been that he wasn’t going to. He wouldn’t mind to go back to the Empire as a bodyguard. He could play off that role so he could stay with the other male. By this point, he would do anything to stay with his soon-to-be-husband. “Wait until you see the ring that I am going to get made for you. It will capture some essence of the Islands and of me. It will be beautiful. Well, I don’t know if it will match this but it will be good.” He commented. He gave him a sheepish smile then.

“I told her a lot of things. I think I have explained everything. I didn’t tell her about us being broken up for the few days we were. She told me that she loves you already.” He informed with a laugh. He led him out of his own house and down the street. It wasn’t long before they arrived at his mother’s house. He just made his way inside. “Mother! Someone is here for you to meet!” He called out. It wasn’t long before a lady that very similar to Alexander walked out. She asked a few things on their native language. As soon as Alexander nodded his head, she came forward with a smile. “It is such a pleasure to meet you! He has told me everything. What brings you to the Isles?” She asked as she pulled Emeric into a hug. She seemed to be like a wonderful, loving woman. You almost couldn’t tell she was sick.

  • ( Aww no!! I'm sure i'll survive, but I will miss rping with you for a bit!! I'm travelling back to uni now, so much travel makes me tired and grumpy :c but i'll be able to post when I get back (which should be within the next 4 hours)! )
