[ hawkpaw ] [ marbled tabby bengal mix with milky blue blind eyes ] [ six moons ] [ male ] [ trad. windclan mca ]

hawkpaw was relieved to no longer be spending his nights in the nursery; the scent of milk had ceased to cling to his tabby-swirled coat and had instead been replaced with the smells of a plethora of herbs. he wondered, though, how a particular snowy-furred molly was faring as leaf-bare's monotony dragged on.

she must be bored, he mused as he slipped out of the medicine den. maybe i could see how she's doing. he still wasn't much for striking up conversation with others, but as a future medicine cat it probably wouldn't help his reputation if he came off aloof- he would need to seem at least a little welcoming to those in need and provide comfort. he decided he would force himself to socialize a little today despite his reserved nature.

the nursery wouldn't have been hard to locate even if he hadn't had its placement memorized. it was milky smelling and typically had a greater amount of noise than other parts of camp. he could feel that the den was now overhead as the wind could no longer be felt; barricaded by protective walls. "um, is diamondkit in here?" he inquired into the dark void of sightlessness. .Nettlepaw.

bigdiamons_by_cat_frog-dct1gnb.png Diamondkit was pretty bored. The snow-furred she-cat needed some excitement now that the world was becoming monotenly white. The odd feline with a diamond on her neck wanted to do something. The girl padded over the nursery. She felt like she didn’t belong anymore here, in the nursery. She was going to become an apprentice soon, and she needed to get ready! But the queens always dragged her back to the nursery, so she couldn’t see the border so often.

When the kitten spotted the mca on the entrance, she blinked in surprisement. “Hey Hawkpaw!” she shouted for him to know where she is. Was he looking for her? Nice! The she-kit would pad over to them, swishing the ground with her tail. She could only imagine how confused the tom must have been. She looked into their blind blue eyes. It was pretty sad in Diamondkit’ opinion. “Do you wanna hear a story?” she offered, sitting down in front of them. She could feel a little bit of coldness coming from inside. Hawkpaw must have been pretty cold too. How did the apprentices hunt when there was freezing cold outside?

    oh, a story?

"sure," he agreed to the snowy-furred molly that had appeared before him. why not? it's been awhile since i last heard one. he thought to himself, whiskers twitching in anticipation as he wondered what tale diamondkit had to tell him. maybe it would take his mind off of the miserable weather outside, if briefly at least. "go for it." he mewed finally, taking his place next to her and wrapping his tail around his paws; pads slightly chilled from padding across the frigid clearing.

bigdiamons_by_cat_frog-dct1gnb.png Diamondkit smiled. She liked telling stories. "Well, it's a story about my diamond. It's on my neck," she explained to the blind tom. She padded closer, and aimed to hold up his paw and put the diamond in to feel it. It was sad they couldn't see it, but the world is not about how things look. It's about what they are. Diamondkit put the diamond down and continued with the story. "My mom gave me. I had a lot of sisters and brothers and then we went on a journey. My mom took me and she told me I am a diamond. She called us all her jewels. We were in a den and had a view on a pine forest. Or it looked like it. It could be any deciduous trees. And there was always most there in the morning. And then she told method would be my new home and well- I'm happy here. Mom was right, so she is smart!" she finished the story with a slight purr. She didn't blame her mother for anything. She hoped to be as smart as her mother! Still, as she aged, the kit was still more curious about who her mother really was.

hawkpaw hadn't been aware of the gem adorning diamondkit's neck- starclan, he didn't even know what a diamond actually was. it felt like any other rock beneath his pad, but it seemed to hold some importance to the fellow windclan youth.

"jewels?" he echoed with a perplexed blink of his blank blue orbs. "are jewels and diamonds... are they like special rocks? what do they look like exactly?" he inquired. was he interrupting? mousedung. he tried to envision pine trees as diamondkit went on; he vaguely remembered their needled appearance from his starclan-sent dream. was diamondkit's namesake due to the fact that she resembled a diamond in some way? it was all a little hard for him to wrap his mind around, being blind.

bigdiamons_by_cat_frog-dct1gnb.png Diamondkit understood the tom being blind, so she gladly explained. "Yes, they are. The light reflects in them some special way and they are shining and glittering when the sun shines on them. The diamond is white of color- just like me," she answered. "What about your parents?" she asked to be nice. Did Hawkpaw have parents or he was an orphan too? Has he been rejected?

hawkpaw nodded, able to recall what reflection looked like from the vision he had while sleeping.

"oh, i saw my own reflection in a pool in a dream," he said. he could see the sun in his waking moments as well, though it was always just a blur at the edge of what was his very scarce amount of sight. "so i think i kind of know what you mean." he added, his clouded azure orbs blinking at her next question. parents? he nearly forgot he had those.

"well, i don't really remember them." he admitted, though he didn't sound too bothered. if he thought about it too much he sometimes felt a tinge of sadness, but he was content living in windclan. "i didn't meet my father and my mother dropped me off near the border as a young kit. but i like it here." he specified to the apparently alabaster-furred molly.
