  • ❝ And I could be enough. ❞

Silver tabby fur slipped into the clearing of Thunderclans makeshift camp from the warmth of the nursery. As she stretched, the black stripes in her pelt seemed to move as well, tendrils of darkness that wanted her to go back into the nursery to continue resting. These kits were definitely giving her a run for her prey with how much engery they took from her. Not to mention she was constantly hungry and thirsty. But, she had promised Asphodelpaw that she would remain safely in camp, only going outside if absolutely necessary.

Moonwatcher took in a deep breath and then looked around camp excitedly, she had extended an invitation to her family to join her for meal today, and she really hoped that despite Blackstar dismissal that the others would come. She moved to grab two birds and a Squirrel from the fresh kill pile and picked a nice patch of sunshine to sit in as she waited.

-----> Being back together with Moonwatcher was the best decision he could've ever made. Anger burned in his gut everytime he looked into the blackened forest of his home, however sweeping his gaze into camp, spotting Moon, that anger always dissipated. Thinking about the meal she had requested him to join in on, Asp had made his way over when he spotted her. Placing a ball of soaked moss at her feet, he rubbed his head against hers before sitting down beside her.

He wasn't exited for this family dinner. I mean, he wasn't particularly close to Rustpaw or Laurelkit, having not spent much time around either, though Rustpaw and he often butt heads...But his main concern was really Snow. The last time they had talked Asp had said some pretty awful things to her. He would certainly apologize when he saw her again.

  • ❝ And I could be enough. ❞

Moonwatcher purred happily as she returned his affection and smiled gratefully, "Thank you, I was starting to get a little thirsty." She would bend her head and take a couple laps of water before straightening and blinking at her mate warmly, "Hey, I was thinking. Since you're a warrior again. Once the kits are old enough, I'd love to have a sparring match with you. I haven't seen your moves since we were both warrior apprentices." A mischievous light was glowing in her pale yellow eyes and it was clear she was half teasing, "Of course I'm talking WAY down the line. Starclan knows your kits are gonna be a pawfull already." She would purr lightly in laughter.

-----> Asphodlpaw pressed his nose into her ear, saying nothing at her teasing. But as nice as it was to think about sparring with her again..it was a sore subject. He didn't...want this. He didn't want to be a warrior. He had been trained to be a healer, and that's what his paws itched for. I mean - think of all the raids he'd sat out on in order to stay healthy for his clan-mates? What was the point of holding back if he was going to be demoted anyway? All those times he could've DONE something...

Asp bit his lip, feeling his anger burning through his veins again. He said nothing at her mentions, merely absentmindedly nodding and grooming her ear, feigning that he was distracted by that and not his festering rage over his demotion.

“Bleh, go get a private den you two...” Rustpaw teased as she padded up to her sister. On the opposite side, she nuzzled Moonwatcher’s cheek happily. “Sis, I swear i’ll be an aunt ten times over eight he way you two are. Technically, any time you guys fight, I hope to expect more kits.” The fiery ginger molly joked. Though things were barely a resemblance to how it should be, Rustpaw was still happy her older sister was okay. Blackstar wasn’t showing up huh? “What? Blackstar isn’t here? He usually dotes on you Moonwatcher... is everything okay?”

  • ❝ And I could be enough. ❞

Moonwatcher simply allowed Asphodelpaw groom her ear in quiet, understanding that he didn't want to talk about his situation further. When Rustpaw appeared her whiskers twitched in amusement as she playfully batted at the ginger she cats head, "Ha ha very funny. And yes, everything is fine. He had some leader business to attend to it would seem." Sadness flickered in the Molly's eyes, but it was only for a moment as she smiled once more, "How has your day been going, Rustpaw? Learn anything new today?"

“Like you, Flameseeker is also moving into the nursery...” the molly grimaced. “I have no idea if i’ll get a temporary mentor. Which kinda sucks.” Looking over the meal options, she wondered what they could eat.

Snow came trotting over happily, practically glowing with the knowledge that she was a grandmother, that she had lived long enough to see one of her daughters have kits of her own. It was true they weren't by blood, but Snow was over the moon anyway. Her mood dimmed slightly when she spotted Rustpaw, knowing how her daughter felt about her, but she didn't let it deter her for the moment. "Hello! How are you all?" Sitting on Moonwatcher's other side, she nuzzled her daughter's cheek and continued to purr.

  • Tumbling after her mother, Laurelkit skid to a stop in front of Moonwatcher and Asphodelpaw, squeaking excitedly. Her mother had told her about Moonwatcher's new kits, and she had gotten to see them in the nursery earlier, but she was still overly excited about it anyway. "Hi! I missed you!" the little silver ball of fur mewed. She didn't really understand this whole 'family dinner' concept, but if it meant spending time with her mother and siblings, then Laurelkit wasn't complaining.

Moonwatcher would look relieved that the rest of her family actually did show up. She purred loudly as she settled comfortably into her spot and she blinked warmly at her baby sister, "I missed you too. But since I'm in the nursery now, I'll be seeing you much more often." She turned her attention to Snow and gave her a soft smile, "I've been good actually. Asphodelpaw has been keeping me on my toes with my health."

Rustpaw gave Snow a small smile. She loved her mother, but there were things she didn’t understand and wanted to understand at the moment. “Hi Snow... Was Laurelkit able to eat that sparrow I brought the other day?” She spoke softly. Moonwatcher was here, why didn’t Rustpaw feel as confident as she normally was?

  • Before Snow could answer, Laurelkit was piping up and bounding in front of her sister. "Yes! I did! It awas good!" Weaving herself around her sister, purring unsteadily due to her excitement, Laurelkit paused in front of Rustpaw and chirped happily. "Thank you!" With that, she bounced over to her mother and Moonwatcher, settling between the two and wiggling restlessly.

Chuckling at her daughter's enthusiasm, Snow nodded in confirmation to Rustpaw, eyes sparkling but also dim as she faced her orange daughter. They really needed to talk. "She enjoyed it a lot, in case you couldn't tell," the white tabby chuckled fondly. "Thank you for bringing it to her." Looking around at the assembled cats, Snow's heart swelled in her chest, feeling overwhelmed with the joy that this was her family. It was slightly messy, and no where near perfect, but it was hers and she had managed to build it despite the trials she had been through in the past. And it was everything she had ever wanted.

Moonwatcher would only chuckle along side Snow at Laurelkits energy. She turned her pale yellow gaze to Rustpaw and meowed gently, "I keep meaning to ask you who has taken over your warrior training since Flameseeker is close to kitting? Have any of the other warriors tried to step up?" There was concern in her gaze, as if she already knew the answer. Despite having so many warriors, it was almost as if they were all out numbered by the apprentices.

Flameseeker would be out of commission for a while because of caring for her kits. But Rustpaw didn’t mind. “I Uh, was hoping to ask Blackstar about that. But I never seem to catch him since he’s always out somewhere when I end up finishing my chores for the day.” Rustpaw grumbled. Looking at her mother, she wondered if Snow realizes she did it because she cared and didn’t need the thanks. Rustpaw sighed and merely nuzzled her sister. “I want to be a warrior too someday. Do you think I can?” She asked Moonbreeze.

Looking at her mother, she gave a small smile. “I’ll keep bringing something for Laurelkit and you. Besides, I like being able to help my family.”

Looking warmly at her daughter, Snow nodded her thanks to Rustpaw. She was beginning to wonder how much longer they could go on for without talking about the elephant in the room. Snow knew it needed to happen, but she was uncertain of how that would play out.

"Of course you can, Rustpaw." She would butt her sisters shoulder with her head and meowed, "I may not be very active physically because of the kits, but never hesitate to come to me if you want and I can inspect how far you've come along." She would notice how their mother remained quiet and she pressed against her in comfort, "Snow, do you know any fighting moves?"

Almost immediately shaking her head, Snow shrugged and glanced at her paws. Paws that had--done that. "Nothing fancy or formal, no. But I know a few defensive moves. I've fought off those threatening my family before, but it was all instinctual and it doesn't happen often." Snow had never had any formal training as a warrior. When she had joined her first Clan, she had been expecting already, and the same was true for when she had stumbled to ThunderClan the first time. Tragedy had always forced her to move on after she was already expecting a litter. The white tabby didn't express it often, but she was overwhelmed with relief when she found herself settling down long-term with ThunderClan. So much of her life had consisted of her being driven away from a place she called home that this was a welcome permanent relief.

-----> Asphodelpaw simply stood in silence, letting the family talk. He didn't have much to contribute, especially since he couldn't very well help Rustpaw out with training since he was also far behind when it came to fighting and hunting - what with having been trained to be a damn healer for so long. Once again, a burst of anger ran through his veins, and he was more than happy that Blackstorm hadn't been able to make it to the meeting.

// Asphodelfield. ohhhhh where did you get those lovely badges?? they're gorgeous!

Glancing sideways at Asphodelpaw, Snow wanted to say something to the young tom, but she wasn't sure if it would upset him to hear from her. The last time they had truly spoken, she had caught up to him after his demotion. It hadn't been the best conversation in the world, but she had been trying to help him find his way - even just a little bit. Now, the white tabby queen was uncertain if he really even wanted to be here. She was inclined to off comfort or even just conversation, but still hesitated. The last thing Snow wanted to do was overstep her bounds and upset yet another cat.
