  • Firecracker nuzzled against her, enjoying the closeness. It was an amazing moment, being treated so kindly. Being understood this way. Feeling so valid in his emotions. No cat had made him this happy before, he felt the same passionate spark he did when he watched flames dance around in a human burning pit. He felt his heart begin to pound, and decided.. it was time to pull away. "Ah, we should head back hn!" He blurted, leaning down to pluck the two birds once again. He waited until she'd picked up her prey before heading back toward their temporary home.

  • He was so close... just to be gone. She had to wonder, had she done something wrong? Though she didn't ask aloud, she followed after him and wondered the whole way back. Was she being too affectionate? Too personal? Was it something else? Hopefully, things wouldn't be weird between them.

  • They were several fox tail lengths from base when a loud voice came thundering toward them. "GO BACK!! GO BACK GET AWAY!" Redghost yowled. They couldn't see him, but his voice was coming from the campsite. The stink of fear rolled in.. as did an unfamiliar predatory smell. Firecracker's fur bristled, and he dropped the birds. "We.. we should go." He mewed, taking a few steps back, prepared to full on bolt. He wanted to make sure Bambieyes was going with them.

  • "C'mon!" Firecracker called, running sharply to the left, toward some undergrowth. The trees were too difficult to climb, so he figured buryign themselves and trying to conceal their scent was the best way to go. "Lay down, I'll cover you up." He said quickly, moving some leaves and dirt to the side. His heart raced, and he scanned around to make sure they weren't being actively targeted. A loud screech was heard in the distance, but it was tough to pin down.

  • "Okay, okay," Bambieyes agreed, growing more and more concerned as she laid down among the dirt and foliage. "What if they're hurt, what will we do?" It was becoming difficult for her to keep her cool.

  • "We'll help them, but we can't do that if we get hurt." Firecracker said, quickly shoving dirt and foliage overtop of Bambieyes. He kicked as much onto as possible, and sniffed a few times near the spot to make sure she was generally hidden. He leaned down to the shallow area of dirt where she could breathe through. "I have to hide somewhere else, but don't worry, we're gonna make it out of this." He whispered, before parting.

  • There was nothing around, no signs of other cats or critters. The stink of the creature was starting to go away. But the smell of fear lingered. She could hear footsteps coming, they were coming quick, whatever it was must have spotted her.

  • IT WAS A RACCOON!!! A BIG FAT MOTHER RACCOON!!

    Suddenly the smell of the predator was overwhelming, the creature was agitated, and had now spotted Bambieyes. It hissed violently and squared up, prepared to lash out at any second.

  • Firecracker was watching from his hiding spot, creeping along until the right time. Once Bambieyes had passed, he bolted out, intercepting the raccoon and drawing it towards him instead. The crazed animal followed hesitantly after the tom, who made his way off into a different area of undergrowth. This gave Bambieyes the opportunity to head into the campsite without a deadly maniac raccoon on her tail.

  • Initially there was nothing, just a bunch of foliage flung about. But after Bambieyes explored a bit, she heard something. From above, in the sky, it was Redghost. "What are you doing?? GO! HIDE!" He barked from his position up in the tree.

  • Bambieyes' fur bristled at the yowling but she was relieved to hear it was somecat she knew. But there was no time for celebration and she listened to Redghost's order. In a panic, and a bit embarrassed, she picked the nearest tree and climbed.

    {you can decide if she ran up a different tree or the same one as Red lol}

  • (it can be the same one!)

    Redghost tried to make his way closer to Bambieyes, maneuvering the thin and twisty branches. "Are you okay? Where are the others?" He asked quickly.

  • "I'm okay, I'm okay! Firecracker and I had been walking back to camp when we smelled the raccoon. He had me hide in one area and went off to hide, but after a bit the thing came over to me! So I went running and I think he tried to make it go after him. I hope he's okay," She rattled off the events, thinking them over with horror as she stared down below. 'It was so sweet what Firecracker did, what if he's hurt,' she fretted 'he did that for me'. Her claws dug deeper into the branch. "I have no idea where Crowshadow or Smokestorm are. Please tell me you do!"

  • "I don't know! The thing came at us and i went up here, but Crowshadow couldn't make it up, he ran off I.. I don't know where he went!" redghost explained nervously, "I've been keeping an eye out for him.. You saw Smokestorm last, right? Is he far away?" The tom asked, desperate for a positive answer.
