the highlands - very difficult - attack in limegreen

Toxin had sent out a call earlier to let the Highlanders - her Tribe - know that she was holding this. But now that the moment had come, she was feeling a little nervous. Would she find what she was looking for among the small group that had remained? "Highlanders, the herbal training begins now! By the end of today, you will have a knowledge of how to identify some poisons, as well as what to use with certain injuries." The white-marked Warchieftess called, tail brushing along the earth.

"I will make it very clear: I will be looking for a Shaman, or at least Highlanders who are capable of holding the Druid title." She meowed firmly, pacing in front of the group that had begun to gather. "While only females are able to hold the rank, the title may be given to any healing-capable member. So don't be shy."

All these weird-looking plants! Choine was simply too young to memorize everything about them, but she really wanted to impress Toxin, who she considered to be something of an honorary aunt. When she showed up to the training, the cub's short fur was all over the place, flattened in some spots and sticking straight out in others. She'd been experimenting with something weird she read about in the library called "chemistry", and following the books she could understand - read: the books with pictures in them - she learned to make a 'polymer' that was fun to play with, but oh boy was it hard to clean out of her fur. And it tasted terrible, too! Next time she would add sugar to her chemistry experiments.

    × × ×
That being said, she only half-understood what Toxin was talking about while she thought about the failed project. She seemed enthusiastic anyway, and was the first to ask a question (part of why she was the first to ask was because she blurted it out almost immediately after the Warchieftess was done talking). "I have a question!" she declared excitedly. "I would like to learn what to do if someone is playing on the side of the castle and climbs too high up and sees a bird and tries to catch the bird but falls on the ground instead and their paw really hurts now." Okay, Chione. Oddly specific, and also not a question. But at least she was trying.

  • 。・゚゚・ Sag and Rosie both just appeared there, as they do, and Sag was silent as Chione started speaking, but when she was finished, Sag frowned. "Oh no, did that happen to you, Chione?" Rosie also looked a bit concerned, but only for a minute before resolving to spin around Toxin a few times, for no reason whatsoever. Sag glanced over and hissed "Rosie, stop that." before returning his attention to the actual matter at hand.

I GOT ANOTHER CONFESSION TO MAKE

The woman would stroll forward and settle beside her daughter. Eyes on the small female and head tilting down. "Hmm.. Oddly specific my darling." She mused before nodding to Toxin.

Amusement flashed in the deputy's verdant eyes as Chione ran over. There was something about the cub that infused Toxi with nostalgia, but she couldn't think of what. She nodded to Sag and Aglaia as they approached, sparing Rosie an amused glance, and then returned her attention to the cub.

"Well, you'd want to find out if the paw is broken or sprained first." The inky feline recounted. She'd had both injuries in her youth, and while she didn't like to recall them she certainly could. "There are two really obvious signs of a break. One, is if this hypothetical climber's paw is facing the wrong way or at a bad angle. The second is how it feels. With a sprain, it really, really hurts. But if it's a break, where the bone is broken, your patient won't feel anything. It's completely numb."

"The best treatment for both is to stabilise it with a stick and cobwebs at first, or comfrey root if you can get your paws on it." Focusing, the dark she-cat grew a small sprout with pink and white flowers. It bloomed a minute later, revealing their bell shapes. Toxicpassion reached down and took a hold of the stem, yanking upwards to uproot it. "These," she meowed, gesturing to the bulbous roots, "are what you're looking for. Any questions so far?"

"Nnnnmaybe." She looked away from Sagittarius after he spoke and down at her paws. Specifically the one on her left. A sprain or a break, huh? She looked at her mom's paws for reference, seeing as they were both tigresses, and quietly sighed in relief that they seemed to match so neither of them had a broken paw... or maybe they both had a broken paw? Nah, cause it didn't feel numb. But it didn't hurt really really badly, either. Only really badly. So it wasn't a sprain either. Safe! She watched the rest of Toxin's brief lecture with a bit more confidence. Cobwebs and sticks and a comfrey root. Got it. She smiled in understanding.

The she-cat's whiskers twitched with amusement at Chione's half-denial of the injured feline in question being the cub herself. Maybe she would look into that later, just to ensure that the paw had healed properly.

"First of all, we'll start with dressing a graze. It's a common injury in anything from battles to falling down the stairs of the castle." She explained, mostly for Chione's benefit. "Grazes are, typically, an area where the fur and skin has come away; they're shallow and not particularly painful, but inconvenient. However, because they can cover a lot of area, you'll want to keep a careful eye on them so they don't get infected. Everyone got that?"

  • WISHING . SOMEDAY . THAT . I'LL . FLY ——— ☆

the kitsune was quite late but . . . it wasn't like they were trying to be late. they hadn't heard that toxin was hosting an herb training session until they'd heard the group talking as they were aimlessly passing by, looking for something or someone to interest them in their boredom. blinking pink eyes in slight curiosity, gray makes their way over with their head tilted slightly to the side, eyes finding that of the herbs the woman had grown at her paws. they hadn't a clue what they were for or what their names were. did they care? maybe. this could prove to be interesting to gray. so they sit down in the middle of her describing what happens when you receive a graze and what they look like and all of that. they seem to understand it, given that they nod their head every so often and didn't have an overly confused expression on their youthful features. "hm. okay." they murmur, gaze rolling to the side thoughtfully. "since a graze is where you scrape off fur and skin, it stings, right?" gray could only assume that much. it would sting as if you were burned. they'd dragged their paw pads on the ground before coming here ( a rather bad habit of theirs they should kick soon, they can't quite help it, however ) and while the grazes had since recovered, they were just scabbed over. they still remember the irritating stinging sensation on their paw pads though. unfortunately, this was around the time they'd gotten lost, so no one had been there to heal it. keeping it clean seemed to help enough though . . . they didn't have to use any pretty flowers to help it heal at all. huh.

Chione had had plenty of experiences with grazes. In fact she remembered getting a lot of compliments on her beautiful blue graze. Or... was that 'gaze'? Well the point is she got a lot of scrapes in her brief lifetime given how much time she spent playing outdoors. So she could understand what Toxin was talking about when she was explaining what they were, but there was something she did not understand. "Why would I dress a graze?" the cub blurted out.

  • YOU’VE PROBABLY NEVER BEEN SHOT DOWN BEFORE —

The woman would hum a bit and then smile slightly. It was easy to see that the kids were getting curious. She would simply watch for now. Tox had this.
