-- the moon, obscured by an endless array of clouds which covered the sky, made the lands under it dark, foggy, and wholly mysterious. the rustling of the leaves, gentle shake of bushes with the wind, and small crunches of falling leaves from nocturnal beasts only set the otherwise calm tone in a swath of mystery- even, eeriness. there was no sound, no usual bustling of blizzardclan's members as they went about their day, nothing of that usual sort. no, it was something entirely different.

something that they much preferred to day.

paws crunched against dead leaves, tail swishing behind themselves as, without a peep, they shuffled through the autumn forests of the clan. the damp smell of rock and must that came from them only assured that they were not of blizzardclan- not even a clan at all. just a traveler it seemed; even if it was extremely odd that they would simply cross through the territory as if it was nothing. every local loner knew of the countless amount of budding clans- and how much they valued the scent markers. how come this simple animal didn't know?

well, they knew- they just didn't care.

finally, in the middle of silent rifling through bushes and dirt, they looked up with a suddenness that was otherwise nonexistent to them. eyes, covered by the appearance of a large, floppy hat, looked up the bark of a tree, until they settled upon the discovery of some type of... doll? thing? it was wooden, and it certainly was left by some blizzardclan member. the aggressive blizzardclan scent on it screamed 'don't take this'!

    ..

even so, they moved forward, gently pulling off gloves that were situated on their front paws. the feline set them down slowly, before pulling a bandanna, which was wrapped around their neck, over their muzzle. finally, with a soft grunt, they managed to sink their claws into the bark, and began to slowly haul themselves upwards. the sudden noise of creaking wood and wildly shaking branches would of definitely alerted any intruders; but they paid no mind. instead, they climbed higher, eventually reaching the branch which held the strange figurine. it was basically presenting itself to them, and with no hesitation, they gently gripped the statue in their jaws. a pause.

how were they going to get down?

    "oh no.."

  • Narukami did not take kindly to trespassers. Those who crossed the border so often had malicious intent, as they had seen in several deaths and kidnappings. His frequent patrols across the territory were with the intent of either catching such transgressors or attending to joiners. Narukami was more lenient with the latter than the former for very obvious reasons, so when he perceived a scent that did not belong to any of his people, to say he was displeased was a vast simplification. He did not hesitate to intercept, setting off at a brisk trot, the scales on his cheeks already flashing warning colors, and naturally, instead of an actual enemy, it was a fool. A fool in a tree with their greedy paws on an object that clearly did not belong to them, and a deep growl reverberated low in Narukami's throat, thick tail lashing behind him.

"You have three seconds to remove yourself, cur, before I do it myself."

-- a few seconds pass. two, three, four. the time that transpired before they turned their head to glance at the other seemed like forever, but eventually they turned, half lidded, sleepy eyes staring down at narukami. they eventually set the object down on the branch next to them, and began to wash their face with a paw, mouth slightly frowned.

"you don't even know what i'm doing."

their voice almost sounded as sleepy as they looked- deep, slow, lazy and thoughtful. almost as if their mind was dipped in deep molasses. they continued to sit on the high branch, staring down with a blank expression; one single tooth a shine, sticking from their lower lip, a bright light against the blackness of their fur. they blinked slowly, once, twice, before finally shimmying their way down to the trunk.

the object was firmly planted in their jaws, and as they shifted to slip the muddied green gloves back onto their paws, they glanced back up at the staring blizzardclanner. eyebrows slightly creased, they spoke. "do you want this?" it seemed they had no clue how dire the situation they were in- or, more likely, they just lacked the energy to care.

"It doesn't matter what you're doing, you're on Blizzardclan territory." Aurelio hissed, one step behind Narukami. Lately, it felt like he was always one step behind the older male. It made sense - he idolized him in a way. The same way that he did Kady, and Rosemont, and Aleksei. He looked up to them, and he knew that these were the people he wanted to be like as he continued to grow. He had learned much from Aleksei about fighting and he allowed his claws to slip out, sizing up the individual in front of him. He would take him if he had to. "What are you doing, if it's not trespassing?" Aurelio spat. He hated outsiders. They only brought death and misery, in his experience.

-- one thought entered their mind: these guys really are angry, huh? charun simply shrugged, their eyes blinking slowly as they sized the newcomer. certainly smaller, and not really aggressive enough to scare them. did anything scare them? who knew. they set the little wooden object down on the grass, and took a deep breath. "i'm looking.. for... art." damn, they even spoke at an excruciatingly slow pace! was there anything that they did that was fast?

they motioned towards the wooden object next to them, their tail swishing back and forth, causing leaves to sway with the movement. "you're not very good at being scary."

"and.. besides." they let themselves smile, just barely, before going back to a neutral frown. "i live here." they papped the ground with a paw, churning up grass and dirt. "in there. with the..... worms."

  • Impudent, lazy little beast. Narukami's tail gave another lash, and momentarily, he glanced over toward Aurelio, who was understandably upset, considering his mother had been killed by someone who cared not for boundaries or respect. He found his own temper flaring alongside Aurelio's, more so at the flippant response that was absolutely ridiculous. Living with the worms? In the dirt? Hardly, unless they resided in the hole beneath a boulder- which was likely, considering this cavalier attitude. "They will certainly enjoy a feast of you," he asserted, head raised high, and he could feel the urge to tear a sense of respect into the creature growing, pulsating behind his eyes, and Narukami recognized it as a rather harsh sign of his mangled instincts. Instantly, his charring gaze fell back into a stony flatness, expression lacking inflection.

"There are better, less disrespectful methods of locating art," Narukami said after a moment, voice equally as dispassionate as his face, forcibly so.

-- they shook their head, at narukami's words. "they don't do it. it's the other way around." as if to prove a point, they nosed their way in the small hole they dug with a paw earlier, eventually pulling out a small, wriggling worm. charun lifted their head back, and swiftly swallowed it, swiping their jaws with a tongue. it was as if it was nothing- they ate a worm, right in front of two other people. and even stranger, they frowned after swallowing. "damn.. that was a small one."

they then stretched, tail poking high in the air for a few moments as they stretched out their paws. "here...." they began with a slow voice, moving to sit up, smiling lazily against the shade of their large, floppy hat. charun glanced at the two before continuing. "we can have a compromise.... i join your thing or whatever, and i can take your trash. walking up and down those stairs tires me out... too much work for digging through trash.."

  • "how about we all calm down." came pastel’s soft voice he pastel stepped forward from the brush, eyeing the two blizzardclanners more than the intruder. from what the man had gathered the intruder meant no harm, at least not immediate, where as the blizzardclanners seemed to be getting aggressive. the tension and aggression filled the samoyed with extreme unnease, even more than watching the stranger chew and swallow a live worm. pastelboy cringed but fought through it, turning his attention to the queer stranger.

"you should apologize for trespassing instead of making excuses. you’re only making yourself look worse," pastel advised the intruder, voice light and warm as always but holding a stern undertone. then, the canine turned to narukami and aurelio. "please, let’s not get angry. it solves nothing." once again, his voice was warm yet stern, like that of a mother. pastelboy paused, taking a short moment to make sure nobody attempted to kill each other before continuing. "my name is pastelboy. let’s talk." though his words were mainly directed to the stranger, they were open to the blizzardclanners as well.

-- with the introduction of the new blizzardclanner, charun dipped their head, if only in slight courtesy than anything. as usual, it took the large feline a few moments to speak, slowly processing what traveled throughout their brain before they finally decided to make the others hear it. "i live here." it seemed they were firm on what they thought. "in my cave."

finally, after what seemed like forever, the strange creature finally smiled, and more than for a few seconds, strangely enough. they waved a paw, tail tip flicking this way and that. "i'm charun." chair-roon, that's how it was pronounced. what a strange name they had. did they come up with it themselves? like with a lot of things with them, who knew.

lifting to their paws, charun picked up the object in their jaws, before swishing past all three of the observing blizzardclanners. their whiskers twitching, they turned their head, dark golden eyes glinting with the slightest hint of amusement. "i won't take all your stuff. just stuff that catches my eye."

  • ARCANESECRET

    ☆ blizzardclan resident | bio

the atmosphere of the night was dark and mysterious, with the light muffled by thick grey clouds like a tight scarf. it seemed fitting, arcane mused, since halloween was so close. it was the perfect weather for perhaps a murky spirit of the underworld to surface and lurk.

so why was arcane out and about, on such a gloomy night? well, it was simple: he found no reason to stay inside. he wasn't the superstitious type, and even if something did pop up, he could defend himself just fine. and although the cold, sharp breeze tugged at his very skin like prickly fingers, he still marched on.

the canine had been wandering about when his ears caught upon a disturbance in the eerie silence of the forests. blinking, the australian shepherd padded through the crunching leaves and twigs, not making much of an effort to conceal his presence.

surfacing from the shadows, the merle-coated dog's eyes shifted upwards to the stranger. by their foreign scent, they didn't belong here. and as much as this creature seemed to aggravate narukami and aurelio, he did not follow suit. he had encountered these types of people in his time as a leader of another clan, and he knew it was best to be civil.

"hmph. well, it would be helpful to have a trash collector here." he said, his tone light as his muzzle curved into a slight smile. "if you intend to join, blizzardclan has an auto-acceptance policy." he informed charun.
