this is a mostly sci-fi cyberpunk thread. there is a fantasy variant since that was made first. It'll be under spoiler.
In a sterile and cleaned city on the surface, solar panels covering the rooftops of skyscrapers, the underground is a change of step and direction. Denizens consist of the poor, the homeless, and the hackers and various criminals. It is dangerous indeed, especially with a specialized police force called Hunters that track down wanted criminals. It's not uncommon for people to wear masks here. In fact, it's actually in fashion, but whether you wear one for fashion or necessity is on you.
You are a denizen of the underground. A hacker of neutral standing, you're hunted down by Hunters who have a warrant on your arrst for hacking into some information weeks earlier. The chase seems to be neverending, and you're getting round up and tired. But then you make a mistake that; while fucking up others, may have saved your life
You attack someone, and all you can see is that they're huddled to the ground screaming as they reach for their eyes. Blood? Maybe. They're definitely not from the underground though, and might be a person of high interest. But right now the guilt will be the only thing catching up to you.
And it does. Hits you in the chest. So you set on a mission to find out who that was. It's the youngest son of a CEO in a management company. Exact same age, by the looks of it. He was taken to the hospital by the Hunters who where chasing you. Blinded. In both eyes. Nothing could've been done, said the newspaper. By use of hacker skills, you find out what building he's being kept in after recovery.
Rumors in the underground that there's a white-hat hacker by the alias Witch that has more advanced nano-machines that feel made out of miracles itself. It could possibly heal him.
So you plan and set. To nab the prince, find the Witch, and have a good end to this story.
But things are always a little more complicated.
In a woods not so far away, there was a Wolf that was able to sing beautiful melodies that it overheard from a kingdom that kept itself nestled into the bristles of the underbrush. While it was heard by travelers to and fro, it spawned many rumors of creatures who'd use their song to lure innocent people to their deaths. Sirens, Nokken, Mimic birds, old witches. Of course, it was none but the Wolf himself. A Prince from the kingdom heard the melodies upon the castle, and snuck out one evening away from the eye of his much worried and ailing mother. Following the song, he disregarded the rumors as he ventured more into the woods. He could never find the Wolf, while the Wolf hid and found the Prince in a twist of action.
The Prince always applauded the Wolf's singing, and would leave to listen again another day. There was a day where the Prince did find the Wolf, however yet ended in tragedy. In the days before, wildlife hunters crept into the Wolf's territory, hoping for game. The Prince startled the Wolf, and the Wolf; misunderstanding and on edge, blinded the Prince.
Regretting his decision, he took the Prince back home and ran into the depths of the woods for injuring someone who only enjoyed his music. The Wolf searched for a witch with the ability to turn him into a human, so he could be apologize to the Prince. While the Wolf searched, the Prince was cared for. His eyes were permanently damaged, and he would remain blind for the rest of his life by the limitations of modern medicine. His mother decided it'd be safe to lock him within his room, since he was no longer able to go outside anyway. It took a month in order for the Wolf to be able to reach the Prince. By creaking into the kingdom by hire, either as servant, guard/knight, or masquerading as a minor prince from elsewhere, the Wolf found that the Prince was kept captive, and broke him out of his home-prison.
From then on, hand leading hand, The Wolf and The Prince both venture out of the woods to find a witch capable of healing the Prince's eyes and the Wolf's mistake.
