territoryranks and titles ✦ foreign affairs ✦ notable threads ✦ FAQ ✦ request an HP

Welcome to ThunderClan! In battle, ThunderClan is feared for it's ferocity, courage and strength. Out of battle, they are loyal, compassionate and respectful. It is not uncommon for ThunderClan to accept cats born outside of the clans into their ranks, which many of the other clans view as a form of weakness. Despite this, they remain accepting of kittypets and loners who prove themselves worthy of living with the clans. ThunderClan rarely starts fights and is known to have a strong sense of justice. Because of this, they are passed down in legends as the clan of destiny and heroes, a title which they take great pride in and do their best to uphold.

  • TERRITORY

THUNDERCLAN CAMP: Previously before the great fire, was a steep ravine of stone and sand slopes down to a hollow protected by thick thorn bushes and large boulders from a rock slide. If one slips between two particularly large rocks they'll find themselves in the ThunderClan camp, that of which is nestled inside an impenetrable barrier of thorn and stone (leaving only the path between the rocks as a way in). The dens are formed from remaining large boulders from the rockslide, the old oak that fell into camp the prior greenleaf, or thick foliage. But during the fire of November '18, the camp had been near reduced to ashes and became inhabitable. The clan then resided in the foliage surrounding the Sunningrocks, their dens in-between tall, fallen stones or the fallen trees that surround the small clearing.

Around the roots of the Great Sycamore, on the far side to Mangledheart and Nightcloud’s graves, is a small, roughly circular clearing surrounded by dense undergrowth. This place, rediscovered by medicine cat Heatherbloom before her death, is where ThunderClan makes their camp. Beginning in the centre of the camp, facing the large trunk. One of the roots rises higher than the others on the same side as the leader’s den, sturdy and commanding, stretching into the center of the clearing before it disappears underground. The leader calls meetings from here. On the right-hand side of the Meeting-Root is the fresh-kill pile, easily accessed by all of the Clan. Continuing clockwise the curled roots of the Great Sycamore, lively and bustling, provide a safe nursery that extends into the dip beneath an adjacent bush. There is plenty of room in this den for comfortable moss nests. Nestled between the nursery and a large boulder is a smaller den that belongs to ThunderClan’s medicine cats. The soil here is soft and springy, and some of the earth has been moved away from the boulder to create a safe herb store. On the far side of the boulder is the elders’ den, well protected by the cool stone on one side and the warriors’ den on the other. The warriors’ den is spacious, but a little less protected than the others as it is the farthest away from the Sycamore. Between the warriors’ and apprentices’ dens there is a channel that serves as the entrance to camp. The apprentices’ den is also large, big enough to house guests and visitors if necessary. Pressed between the apprentices’ den and the left side of the ancient tree is a small, secluded den; it is barely noticeable at a glance, but certainly there. The ThunderClan leader sleeps and holds audiences here. Camp Reference

TALLPINES: Shared with Skyclan. Watch out for the twoleg tree-eater! It makes the ground rumble and leaves deep gullies that fill with muddy water.

GREAT SYCAMORE: Its branches are thick and strong all the way to the ends. Young apprentices learn to climb here and dare one another to climb higher. Due to fire that ravaged the previous camp, Thunderclan had moved their dens here with the help of Heatherbloom's vision. It is here, Mangledheart (formerly Dapplestar), one of ThunderClan's greatest leaders, is buried. Her mate, Nightcloud (formerly Nightstar), was later buried beside her.

OWL-TREE: Halfway up the trunk is a hole that is home to a tawny owl that flies out at night. Legend has it that an early ThunderClan apprentice learned the secrets of night hunting from one such owl. Every night, as the moon rose, he would wait at the foot of the owl-tree. When the owl swooped out, he followed, like the owl's shadow cast by the moon on the ground. Eventually this bold young apprentice became a great leader known as Owlstar, for in the hunt, he was as silent and deadly as the tawny owl. Some, however, insist that the tale instead belongs to the great leader Nightstar.

SUNNINGROCKS: A warm spot in the sunshine. Keep a sharp eye out for prey darting between the cracks! Many moons ago, when the river was much wider than it is now, Sunningrocks was an island. Only RiverClan cats could swim out to it. Then the water dropped, and Sunningrocks became part of the forest shore, so ThunderClan claimed it. They did not allow RiverClan cats to cross their territory to reach it. Since then, many battles have been fought between the two Clans over these smooth, sun-warmed stones. During Blackstar's reign, he had a bout of weakness and lost their right to the sun-kissed stones, losing to Riverclan, the bengal leader stepped back and did not continue their fighting due to being weakened by the lack of resources. SkyClan has also began to take claim of the land as well. Sunningrocks is currently shared peacefully between SkyClan and Riverclan.

SNAKEROCKS: Beware the poisonous adders that lurk here! One bite could kill a cat. However, despite the danger, Thunderclan leaders seem to be perpetually associated with the snakes! It is rumored StarClan named the great leader Adderstar after the snakes that lurk here for her lightning quick wit and sharp tongue to match! And elders tell strange stories of the leader Foreststar hunting the snakes alone when prey in the forest became more scarce! Chervil grows abundantly here. The caves beneath the rocks provide shelter for dangerous animals, like foxes, badgers - and even dogs.

SANDY HOLLOW: A training hollow surrounded by trees. Warrior apprentices are unlikely to hurt themselves on the soft ground.

  • FAQ

Can my character be deputy/medicine cat/medicine cat apprentice?

High positions are usually determined in character. Things like working hard and stepping up can make a warrior character more likely to be chosen for deputy. And even though it is determined In Character, decent activity Out Of Character doesn’t hurt either! As for medicine cats, the leader usually chooses medicine cat based on who is willing to learn herbs or already has an interest in them, and then the medicine cat generally chooses their apprentice. Recent leaders have made threads where interested players add their character's name to a list for consideration.

Can we make an alliance/interactions/prophecies between Thunderclan and my fanmade clan?

Sadly, no, but thanks for the interest! The traditional clans follow the Warriors books somewhat closely and only interact with each other.

Where is Firestar, Bluestar, and other canon characters?

While the traditional clans follow the rules and arrangements in the canon story, traditional is considered to be an AU, following its own timeline from the books. As such, none of the canon characters exist here.

Who were Thunderclan’s past high positions?

As for medicine cats and their apprentices, traditional Thunderclan has probably gone through too many to list, as players come and go with the school year. Some notable medicine cats include Pipitpetal, Audenine (later Flickerstar), Icegaze, Creambounce, Peachmoon, Hopeclaw, Specklefeather, Asphodelfield, and Heatherbloom.

Thunderclan leaders (in order, as of the traditional RP reboot in July 2016): Marshstar (played by Frostsoul), Dapplestar (played by Vertia), Nightstar (played by Dodongo), Adderstar (played by vend), Thornstar (played by THORNSTAR), Stoneface (who quickly stepped down, played by neb--), Flickerstar (played by Dodongo), Foreststar (played by GreenTealiger~), Pumpkinstar (played by PumpkinPatch), Lambstar (played by Snappy), Blackstar (played by Saenarea), Moonstar (played by ~Obsidian Rose~)

Can my character join the clan (with or without the leader actually appearing in a joining thread)?

Of course! Though this is Traditional Warriors RP, anyone can join the fun! A joining thread isn’t even required, though some people write one for fun. Generally characters that are warriors and apprentices will respond as being near the border when they happen across someone there. If you would like an hp to ‘accept’ your character, post in the OOC chat thread or politely 'at' (@) the hp.

Okay but how do I write a joining thread?

Intros and joining threads vary depending on what a player feels like writing, though there are some common styles. Some people write a thread about things going on around the camp or territory inviting interaction, as if their character had been there forever! This might also be called ‘jump in!’ Some people write a thread about their character showing up at the border and requesting to join Thunderclan. Such threads are usually answered with patrolling characters.
