It was a beautiful morning. The sun was approaching the peak of its escapade through the sky, bathing the whole camp in a warm light. The sound of birds, frogs, and bugs singing their various tunes rang delicately through the territory, creating a calming ambiance. Most of the warriors were out hunting or patrolling, but the cats who stayed back were milling about the clearing idly. The soft buzz of chatter came from the few groups of cats who talked amongst themselves. The words weren't distinguishable, but the overall happy tone of the conversations was clear. It was the perfect day for the kits to play outside the nursery.
Littlepond had always been the clan's resident caretaker. That hadn't happened intentionally, but after the queen's fourth litter, she realized she had spent most of her life in the nursery caring for kits of her own and others. She rose to her feet, ducking her head as to not brush the top of the bracken covered den. Her calm gaze swept over every kit in the crowded nursery, making sure all were present. Once she was certain, she began to speak. "Does anyone want to play outside? I have mossballs and feathers!" Her voice was upbeat and excited as she gathered the toys and tossed them carefully out the entranceway. She positioned herself right outside the nursery to keep watch of the kits during their playtime. "Everyone be safe and no roughhousing! Also, don't try to sneak away, I have hawk eyes! Oh and Miraclekit, you have to stay in the nursery to rest. I don't want you hurting your leg more."
