    The Mystic

It takes a very special kind of person, to decide to walk into the Mystic; Largely because most people can't even see the entrance.

Tell me if you've heard this one before; There is far more to this world than you ever imagined. Monsters, magic, demons, it's all real. People are snatched in the night by creatures that most would consider complete fantasy. Bearded old men write books of magic to pass on to their chosen apprentices. In every town, a story hidden beneath the roads. In every city, a thousand monsters, hiding in plain sight. Magic is real, and it's present, and it's beautiful. Those who can use it? The whole world is at their fingertips. Any job you want, yours for the taking, with just a little bit of magical encouragement. Want to look different? There are spells to modify your physical appearance. Need quick money? Conjure it from thin air. Have a problem that's less... Mundane, than any of that? Chances are, magic can solve it. For someone who knows how to use it, magic can be the panacea for all ills.

But, here's the thing; Magic is complicated. Without the proper training, the proper instruction, the proper learning, it can turn on you in a heartbeat; Incinerating everything around you, summoning things out of your worst nightmares, changing what you would never want to be changed. Magic is dangerous without the knowledge needed to control it... And, the unfortunate truth is, those who know how to use it, hoard that knowledge jealously. Only a very select few are ever chosen to learn magic properly, in the ivory spires of the world's hidden magical academies. Less than a hundred students are chosen each year, in fact. So what happens to the rest of those born with the gift? Those who can use magic, but were deemed too weak, too unstable, or simply not enough of a priority to teach?

Well, for those living in New York, at least, they go to the Mystic.

A haven for hedge mages of all stripes and colors, the rejects of high magical society in New York often find their way to the Club Mystic, a place where there are others like them; The forgotten of the high and mighty, the outcasts of the great schools, those never given a chance. In the Mystic, one can learn how to use their gifts, at least to a point. It is a place where those who are forced to learn by trial and error, with disaster often following, can pool their knowledge, lessen the chances of mistakes. It's a place where someone who is desperate to learn, for whatever their reasons may be, can at least have a chance to attain the knowledge they need to practice safely. No one is denied entry, and no one is turned away because of who they are; Only malicious actions against fellow club-goers is enough to warrant a ban from the Mystic.

  • Form complete! Let me know if I need to fix anything!

  • clawfury I'm sorry, but I'm not quite sure what you mean. If you mean characters who use elemental magic, then it's fine for your character to want to focus on that kind of spellcraft, but magic is magic in this particular world. If you mean some kind of non-human character, however, then I'd say that I'd rather everyone be playing a human.

    Elvira Oriole Swan

Nickname(s): Playfully referred to as Birdy by her closer friends.

Age and Date of Birth: Nineteen years of age, born on December 3rd

Mystic Regular?: No, she has never been into this particular establishment.

    Ethnicity: Czech

Appearance Description: Elvira is a woman who very few forget when they see her. With blemish-free porcelain skin, she is quite frail ,not sickly, but of fragile build that makes it seem as if she could break from a strong breeze. Her slim rectangle frame leaves very little to the imagination, sloped shoulders hugged tightly to her small bosom and thin, bony hips that are not fit for bearing children. Petite could be another word for her body; Tiny hands and small feet all further push the frailty of her being. Elvira's long neck leads up to her diamond shaped face --a shape not very often seen-- where it is widest at her temples and gives her an angular look. Thin almond eyes lay not too deeply set under her thin, barely there eyebrows; The orbs shine a soft stone blue color, flecks of gray only visible if one were close enough. All of her features are so very soft and small like her perky nose and thin pale lips. Even her hair ,platinum blonde that it is almost white, has a thin and feeble quality to it that flows whimsically around her shoulders in semi-waves.

    Height: 5'1 (158 cm)

    Weight: 98 pounds (44.5 kg)

    Gender: Cisgender female

Sexual Orientation: Bisexual though leans towards women

    MBTI Type: INFJ "The Protector"

Positive Traits -Benevolent, Caring, Devoted, Fair, Generous, Humble, Intuitive, Intellectual, Kindly, Perceptive, Responsible, Unique, Whimsical

Neutral Traits -Cold, Enigmatic, Icy, Lame, Melancholic, Pessimist, Possessive, Quirky, Quiet, Sly, Spacey, Unwilling, Wary

Negative Traits- Brash, Close Minded, Cunning, Dense, Frugal, Grumpy, Ignorant, Inconsiderate, Isolated, Lone, Malicious, Neurotic, Sloth, Unchanging

Personality Description: Elvira is known as being an enigma to most. Her whereabouts are mostly forgotten by others and her lack of presence makes it difficult to remember that she is nearby. It isn't that she doesn't matter; She doesn't have any aura to define her being. At first sight, Elvira seems extremely cold-hearted and closed off fro the world, mind in another world and spaced out. True, she can be a touch cold to others and an airhead but it isn't difficult to approach her. When greeted, do excuse her skeptical nature towards strangers as she was raised rather sheltered and makes her wary of new things or new people.

    Quirks/Habits:

Magic Skill: Elvira is just discovering she has magical abilities which both frighten and intrigue her.

    Family:

History: (Doesn’t have to be terribly long, or you can go to town. Either way works)

I apologize for my untimely form which is not finished. I have been busy packing to move tomorrow and have a wedding today to attend. I will then be spending two days unpacking, picking up a kitten and adjusting them to our new home. I may be able to work on it via mobile but I will try and finish it by tomorrow or Monday.

  • thellan Sure! Alchemy can definitely be a magical discipline, though it's just as dangerous and difficult as spellcraft, and your character will have to learn it as he/she goes along.

The_Regalia No worries, real life takes precedence over roleplaying. ^.^
