there were a few things that if you told kai they were going to happen, he wouldn’t believe it one bit and just simply laugh at just how unbelievable it sounded to him. one of those things was him talking to miyeon and it going well. even after it had happened, kai had a hard time believing it. but nothing, and truly nothing, could have ever prepared him for what he was currently experiencing.
waking up on the couch was one thing. it had always felt weird, different than waking up in his bed. after a good nights rest in bed, he felt refreshed and ready to get on with whatever he had to do the next day. but after a night on the couch, he always felt groggy and like he barely got any rest at all. so it wasn’t really any surprise that when his eyes slowly blinked open and he became conscious to the world around him, that he didn’t really realize exactly what was going on. he was able to hear the sound of the tv, and once he was able to blink his sleepiness away, he looked up and saw that it was still on, so he figured he had just fallen asleep after watching a movie or something. it happened more often than not and it was a pretty logical explanation for why he hadn’t woken up in his own bed. but then he realized something was a little off, this wasn’t just a morning after staying up too late to watch a movie. he felt a weight on his shoulder, which wasn’t something that never happened before, he and heejun sometimes fell asleep in a similar position, but heejun wasn’t home. heejun didn’t come back to the dorm last night, kai was slowly starting to remember that, which made him realize just who was sleeping on his shoulder. miyeon.
kai was in a bit of a panic, he never imagined himself talking to her, so to have her in his dorm, sleeping against him was something he wasn’t really prepared for. half of him wanted to wiggle out his way from under her, just so the weight would be lifted off his shoulders and so it wasn’t awkward when she woke up. what if it was totally embarrassing for her? what if she didn’t think this was some cute little accident? but the other half of him knew that even the slightest movement could wake her up, which led back to square one of his current predicament. if she woke up, she would notice the position they were in, and there was a possibility of her being embarrased and things becoming awkward. it was times like these that kai really wished that he could just have heejun’s brain. heejun would know exactly what to do, he wouldn’t even have to think about it, he’d just do the right thing and things would be fine. but he didn’t have a mind like heejun’s, he was stuck with his own worrisome thoughts without an obvious, easy solution.
finally, kai just decided to just stop worrying about what happened when she woke up. why was he busy worrying about something he wasn’t even sure would happen when he had the prettiest girl ever asleep on his shoulder? now that he was really looking at her, she looked so pretty. not that she didn’t look pretty when she was awake, but this was a different type of beauty. when miyeon was awake she was bright eyes and friendly smiles, rosy cheeks and a beautiful laugh; something you couldn’t help but admire. when she was asleep she was soft, relaxed, all traces of worry just completely gone and she just looked so at ease. a sight to be completely in awe of. deciding that maybe just pretty much staring at her while she slept was pretty creepy, and would be hard to explain if she woke up and saw him, he decided to use these moments of her sleeping to catch some extra sleep himself.
so he rested his head back on top of hers, the same position they were in before he woke up. he let his eyes fall shut, mind slowly going blank, and breathed in slowly; the smell of her perfume was faint but nice, especially compared to the usual boyish smell that hung around in the dorm like a dark cloud. after a few silent seconds, when kai was sure he was just about to fall asleep, he felt miyeon stir a bit underneath him and he instantly sat up. he tilted his head, peeking at her face to see if she had woken up yet or if it was just her moving around in her sleep. and to his surprise, he was met with her eyes, a smile instantly appearing on his face. sure, he was blushing like crazy too, but there was no need to mention that. especially when he told heejun about this moment later, there would be absolutely no telling about how he couldn’t stop his cheeks from turning bright red around her.
“good morning.” kai finally managed to whisper, not wanting to startle her with his unusually loud voice as soon as she woke up. even he found his voice to be annoying in the morning sometimes, he couldn’t imagine what it would be like to someone who hasn’t ever heard it before. especially after staying up pretty late and waking up in a dorm that wasn’t yours. “i didn’t wake you up, did i? i’m really sorry if i did. if you’re still tired and want to go somewhere more comfortable, you can sleep in my bed.” and of course, his mind had to realize all the ways she could’ve taken what he said wrong, so he quickly tripped over his own words, trying to clarify that his intentions were very innocent and that all he intended to do was give her a more comfortable place to sleep. “i mean, my bed is way more comfortable than the couch, y’know? and you’d be alone, i mean unless you wanted me in there with you or something? i don’t know i just- i’m going to shut up now. sorry for talking so much, this is so much for you to process after just waking up.” and with that, kai slapped a hand over his mouth to keep himself from talking, wanting to give her a moment to adjust to the world again after a night of sleep and to give him an answer to the mess of what he just said to her.

kwon soojin
(( i saw a post about them and it said they just crack open alcohol and start drinking it at fansigns sometimes and other wild stuff like that and i just... i need to stan them, they’re wild™️ and they have such good songs too, i truly am missing out
but you know i can really see him having great duality, like he looks absolutey adorable and cuddly but at the same time he looks like he knows exactly how to win over some hearts and i gotta say, he’s won my heart ))
soojin was so beyond glad that the night had went how it did. sure, most people wouldn’t be too happy about someone spilling their drink all over them, and soojin couldn’t really say she was exactly ecstatic about that, but it did result in her meeting heejun, and she could confidently say that she would’ve taken something way worse than a drink spilling on her shirt to have met him. they just seemed to click, and the fact that his best friend was interested in her best friend just made things even better. her and heejun could hang out alone, or they could hang out as a group with their other friends. both were amazing options, she really had nothing to complain about when it came to heejun.
once they got over the “i’m sorry”s and “it’s okay”s that were a result of heejun spilling his drink on her, things went rather smoothly. they went back to her dorm, started off a nice little conversation, and even ended up playing scrabble together; the idea of him picturing her as some scrabble champion was just too funny to not play and see if she was an absolute champion just like he pictured her as. the only flaw in their plan was that they were both more tired than they had realized and ending up falling asleep before they could actually get anywhere in their game. at least that’s what it seemed like, because that was really the only logical explaination as of why soojin woke up with her face on a scrabble board with a few of the little lettered squares stuck to her cheek.
soojin slowly sat up after she managed to scrape the little wooden tiles off of her cheek and blinked, absolutely confused and groggy from just waking up. it took her a few seconds to realize that there was someone sitting across from her, asleep in the same position that she was just in, but when she did notice, she nearly had a heart attack. it wasn’t miyeon, that was for sure. the usual long blonde hair wasn’t there, instead there was a lot shorter black hair. that’s when soojin realized it was a boy, and that’s when she was sure she was really having a heart attack; her mind ran at a million miles per hour too, trying to remember how some guy got into her dorm and why on earth they fell asleep on a scrabble board, and then she remembered. as the realization that it was heejun set in, soojin let out a huge sigh of relief, and then quickly checked to make sure she hadn’t been drooling or anything in her sleep; that would just be the most embarrassing thing ever, to have such a cute guy see her drooling away all over a scrabble board. and then she remembered why they had played scrabble, which almost made her laugh, but she quickly stopped herself out of fear of heejun him up. sure, he didn’t exactly look comfortable, but nobody liked being woken up, and it wasn’t like he had to wake up, so what was the damage in letting him get a little more sleep? besides, he looked so peaceful and cute while he slept, in the least creepy way possible.
soojin shook her head at herself and stretched her arms above her head, wincing at how sore her body was from spending the night in such an uncomfortable chair. she was eventually able to stand up and quietly made her way around the dorm, constantly looking back at heejun to make sure she didn’t accidentally wake him up. she was able to find her phone, hoping to text miyeon to make sure everything was okay and maybe even tease her a little about being with kai, but the second she realized what time it was, she realized that she was doing more damage by letting heejun sleep in than just waking him up. sure, sleeping in was nice and all, but as a college kid, she had learned that getting off your sleep schedule could screw you over for months, and soojin wasn’t going to let that happen to heejun so close to finals, just because she would feel like a jerk waking him up.
she quietly made her way back over to him, despite the fact that she was waking him up anyways, she was going to be quiet. nothing sucked more than being woken up just because someone was being too loud. soojin intended on waking him up in the nicest way possible, stomping around the dorm was far from that. when she finally reached his side, she couldn’t help but to softly laugh at the little wooden letters that were stuck to his face and she reached down to pull a few off, thankful that they just fell off with ease. once she was sure she got all of them, or at least all the ones she could see, she placed her hand on his shoulder and gently shook him, hoping that he wasn’t shocked to wake up to some girl he barely knew in someone else’s dorm; she knew she was shocked when she first woke up, but she was sure that was nothing compared to waking up somewhere that you never did before to someone you barely knew.
“hey, heejun.” she spoke quietly, but loud enough to be heard and break through his sleepy state. “it’s time to wake up, it’s getting pretty late into the day.” soojin checked her phone again and let out a soft sigh. “i can even make you breakfast if you want, or lunch, whatever it would be considered at this time.” she squatted down beside him, a smile stretching across her face when she saw him moving, a sure sign that she had managed to get through to him. “hey there sleepyhead, you got a b stuck on your forehead.” she laughed, plucking off the wooden tile that she had missed earlier, tossing it back onto the table before turning back to him. “i feel so bad waking you up but i’m pretty sure you don’t want to be asleep in my dorm all day, plus kai might be wondering what you’re doing or where you are, so i figured you could give him a text or something. just so he’s not too worried.” that’s what she was going to be doing with miyeon, and from what she heard last night it seemed like kai and heejun were as close as the two of them girls, so she figured it would be a good idea for heejun to do the same. she went back to her seat and started typing out a message to check on miyeon, looking up from her phone and over to heejun. “if you need anything just let me know, i have a phone charger you can borrow if you need it and some pain medicine if you need any of that. once you move, you’re gonna realize just how much your body hates you for falling asleep there.” she let out a soft laugh, then looked back down at her phone, sending her ‘hey, everything okay? you need anything?’ message to miyeon, hoping to hear she had a good time with kai.
