    the svelte figure trotted airily, nearing the strong scent of other felines. sun had been walking for what felt like forever, but she never minded long strolls; and this was no different. besides, she had heard her sister tempest resided here, and that only motivated her further. the graceful young feline's fur was a bit tangled and messy from all her traveling which annoyed her thoroughly. she could feel that she was close, and this was definitely not the first impression she wanted after seeing her sister for the first time in moons.


    sun tip - toed about, sprinkling in little leaps here and there as she admired the area. a babbling brook caught her attention, and in the distance she noted a little creek with stepping stones paving a way to the other side. the beaming sun was starting to set, and the scent of other cats and fish were strong. she noted the fish carcasses on the other side, and figured this to be the border. sun figured the clan cats wouldn't take kindly to her trotting on in, so she decided to take advantage of the setting sun and basked on the first stepping stone to the other side.

    Polypaw had been on a small walk after a hard day of training when she first scented the unfamiliar cat. She really didn't want to scare the other cat so as she came into the open she decided to announce herself. "Hello, you're on RiverClan territory, were you looking to join?" The she-cat asks in a genuinely friendly tone. The recently ex-BloodClan cat had not been hardened by her time in the city, in fact, the very opposite had happened. Polypaw may be a little over-sensitive even, the last thing she wanted to do was hurt or intimidate another cat, especially if it meant giving them the wrong idea of the clan.


    "If you don't mind me asking, what lead you here, was it the air?" She asks curiously, light ginger ears flicked forward with interest. "That's what lead me to RiverClan when I joined."

    ashfolly could jump in, but she didn't.


    instead, she watched from where she lay crouched in the bushes. her little apprentice, eight moons old but skin-and-bones and tiny, had been so small when she first showed up. now it seemed her old hesitancy had stuck with her, and while her gentleness was sweet, it also put ashfolly on alert.


    if this new cat wasn't friendly, polypaw might hesitate too long to defend herself. and that was dangerous.


    still it seemed that poly's friendly attitude wouldn't go to waste, as the newcomer seemed passive enough.


    ashfolly would only intervene if she had to. she wanted to see how her apprentice handled this.

    sun was hardly taken by surprise as her tufted ears swiveled to the strong scent padding over to her. sun sat up luxuriously after her like two minutes of basking on the rock and narrowed her golden orbs before giving an enthusiastic and an affirmative nod 'yes.' "Yes I'm looking to join," she paused before asking, scared to hear the other female's reply, "I'm looking for my sister actually." her tail whisked behind her inquisitively before she took a step forward towards the other feline with an investigative look on her face. "Her name's Tempest and I'd heard she was here, is she?" sun realized she must've looked so serious! perking up and letting a warm smile grace her maw, she said sincerely, "i'd love to join." the young fawn female took a whiff of the air before agreeably nodding to what the other cat had said, "yeah it's really like, strong. you know, just fishy; the air is." there was something else in the air, and that was the hint of another feline. in the bushes or nearby sun figured. so, since she had an audience, she announced in a divine introduction, "i'm sun, and you?"

    Polypaw flinched slightly when the other cat stepped towards her but her pleasant-look never left her. Sun's first question jogged her mind and for a second and Poly realized that she hadn't seen Tempestpaw around for some time. "I'm so glad you'll be joining us, Sun, my name is Polypaw." The she-cat introduces, dipping her head politely. She wracked her mind for another moment or two while she tried to recall what could've made Tempestpaw go unnoticed by her for so long.


    "Tempestpaw lives here, yes, but I haven't seen her in some time. I'm sorry, I've been really busy training with my mentor and the rest of my time is spent sleeping or eating." The admittance is slightly embarrassing to the she-cat and she quickly adds the following. "Oh and hunting, my mentor, Ashfolly will be teaching me how to fish once I learn how to swim so I've just stuck to land-prey for now." A light orange ear flicked as the little she-cat realized she was rambling.


    "Sorry if I'm rambling, I'd be glad to lead you to camp if a warrior hasn't shown up in a little bit." Polypaw apologizes, bowing her head slightly before perking up. If her energy had a name it would be, kit-like. Genuine excitement at the life she was being allowed to live with RiverClan.

    sun was notably less than pleased when she heard her sister tempest, what was it? tempestpaw hadn't been seen for some time. looking lost in thought for a moment, her thoughts were chaotically flying all over as she contemplated what her sister had been up to. polypaw mentioned hunting, and sun was snapped out of it. hearing about fishing made her excited for whatever reason, if she lived here she figured she probably should learn to fish! "i'm not too bad of a hunter, maybe we could go out sometime, you can show me around this place!" sun perked up, and figured she'd just see tempest soon, somewhere around here. moving forward on the stepping stones slowly, she said, "if you could take me to camp or call somebody over here, i'd really appreciate it."

    this seemed like a good time.


    better to break the news sooner rather than later, the ginger molly thought bitterly, and slipped out of the bushes, creeping forward after poly. the apprentice had been friendly, kind, polite-- and as a result it looked like riverclan would have another capable warrior on their hands in due time.


    it made ashfolly glow. she knew she couldn't take credit for polypaw's bubbly personality, but she was still proud to have landed such a sweet kid as her apprentice.


    "hey there, poly-girl," the one-eyed warrior said as she approached, then offered a smile toward sun. it wasn't a happy smile, though.


    "if you don't know bloodclan," she began softly, "then you've been lucky. if you do, i don't need to explain just how ruthless they are. they're the ones who-- who kidnapped your sister. that's why she hasn't... been around much." she flinched a little at the end, realizing with dawning horror that she hadn't even told polypaw about it. that this was how she found out.


    she'd been trying to protect her apprentice, but she saw now that it hadn't done much. she'd have to find out at some point that these kinds of things...


    they happened.

    "i'm ashfolly. polypaw's mentor. tem and i, we're close friends," she added as a means of introduction, in a separate post because i forgot (like an idiot) but can't edit my posts without ruining the fancies.

    Polypaw smiled warmly as her mentor approached. Turning her attention back to Sun, her smile quickly disappears to be replaced with horror; only now understanding her mentor's words. "Tempestpaw was kidnapped by Blood Clan!?" Her words are laced with terror and she begins to tremble. Light ginger limbs shiver violently, threatening to give out.


    All of her plans of impressing Sun and touring the territory seem far away now. The apprentice can't believe what she's heard. It can't be true, Tempestpaw was nearly a warrior; how could she have been captured? Polypaw manages to steady herself but her sadness is evident.


    "I'm sorry..." She utters weakly. "We will lead you to camp." Her voice cracks but she manages a weak smile.

    sun was staring at polypaw's mentor in awe, but when she broke the news to the young loner, one golden eye twitched. the fawn she-cat had kind of a wow ok kind of look on her face, before shaking her head. sun gave a polite wave of her tail and a faint smile. "it's nice to meet a close friend of my sister's," she said warmly, sincerely, "it's nice to meet you, ash..........folly?" sun had no clue what a folly was but she had to admit she loved the she-cat's name. trying to compose herself, but her stricken sadness and panic in her eyes betraying her, and her now distracted demeanor, she gave yet another benign smile. "i'm sun, soon to be sunpaw I guess!" she let out a forced and ditzy laugh to try and lighten the mood but she was 85% sure she just made it worse. shaking her head and moving closer to the she-cats, sun sighed out, "if you could take me to camp, just so i can introduce myself, be accepted, then i can go help my sister." unbeknownst to her her sister would literally show up in short time.

    ashfolly runs her tail over polypaw, stomach twisting. she whispers that everything's gonna be fine, they're gonna get her back, then turns to address sun.


    "ashfolly, yup." ash smiles a little. "folly means... silly. or, alternatively, it means mistake." she laughs weakly but doesn't offer context, instead turning away as she nods in answer to sun's request.


    "of course, we're headed to camp right now. and-- yeah. absolutely. saving your sister-- first on the itinerary! you know, tem was-- is-- about to be a warrior. betcha she'll get a really cool name. she's earned one, that's for certain."
