  • Kambrie nodded eagerly with a smile. "Duh! What was yours on again?". She reached across the couch grabbing her laptop for researching purposes and to help him with her own notes. She scooted closer to him while taking a mouthful of ice cream. "Mr. Adams must like you or something. You're the first person I've heard that he ever gave a extension.". Truth be told, she had heard a few things about today but didn't mention them. She was going to fix everything tomorrow or at least that's what she told herself. She was completely oblivious to how fake his laugh and smile had been. "I've got all my notes upstairs but I remember a lot of the topics he had given out."

  • “I got this.” He said pulling out his phone from his pocket and showing her the picture of his project paper. He was relieved when she didn’t seem to realize the fact he was practically lying through his teeth just to make things easier. He couldn’t have a crush like when they were kids, no that was completely ridiculous. “Somehow I don’t think that was it. I think he just wanted me to leave him alone.” Darcy chuckled as he leaned over to look at her laptop screen with her. “I can go get the notes if you need me to.” He offered before scooping out some ice cream with his own spoon. “I tried getting Sammy to help, but he’s MIA right now.” He shrugged bringing up his friend Sammy who used to help him with school work since it was easy to tell that school wasn’t something he got naturally. He scooped out another spoonful of ice cream. He smiled a little, it helped after the kind of day he had.

  • She shook her head with a smile as she ate another spoonful of ice cream. "It'll be fine. Besides it's not I'm completely helpless without my notes Darc." She laughed as she propped herself up better. She started rambling on about what he could for the project, how to describe what the teacher wanted to know more about, and various other things smiling the entire time. School was genuinely something she loved. She had mixed emotions about being friends again but slowly became happier that they were. She had missed her best friend.

  • “Am I going to alright without them though?” Darcy asked a brow. He hadn’t been able to keep up with her in middle school when she started talking about school subjects, so it doubted that was going to change now. So he grabbed his phone and started typing to try and get what she was saying down as fast as she was saying it. He would occasionally bob his head while she was talking to show he was following, at least a little. When she finally finished he huffed a little and set his phone down on the couch beside him. Picking up a spoon he scooped himself a pretty big hunk of ice cream. “Some things stay the same.” He muttered with a smirk before eating the ice cream and going back for a second. “Seriously though thank you. Now at least I have something. I’d be in it deep if I didn’t get something done by tonight. “ He chuckled albeit somewhat nervously. “Did you know my mom has vein that pops out when she gets angry?” Chuckling a little to himself he shrugged and got another spoonful picking up his phone with his free hand to start looking a few things up that would hopefully help him.

  • Seeing him rushing to type the words that flew out of her mouth she laughed lightly. "Geez Darc. You think that I'm just going to rush through something with you? I've learned since middle school. I'll email you my notes and maybe then you can have enough to Ace this project and even put the famous Darcy spin on it," she promised with a cheeky smile. She turned her attention back to her half empty ice cream a frown forming. "Ugh. I hope that my Dufus of a brother brings more ice cream home," her words ending with another mouthful of the deliciousness. She seemed at peace again for once since her dad left and all of Darcy's torment.

  • The young man gave an over dramatic sigh and pretended to wipe sweat from his brow. “Bless you. You are truly a saint.” Clasping his hand together in front of himself he bowed his head a little. Then he looked back up to with a lopsided grin sighing as he leaned back on the couch getting another scoop of ice cream. He sighed looking down at the now almost half empty tub of ice cream. “Darcy spin? I wasn’t aware that was a thing.” He murmured through his spoonful of ice cream. He was happy, mostly because she seemed happy. This didn’t exactly erase their less than pretty past. At least it was a quiet moment they could enjoy each other’s company. Humming he tapped his spoon on the edge of the ice cream tub. “If not you can always come raid our freezer. My mom always keeps a couple tubs hidden in the back.” Darc offered a wink before he stretched his arms over the back of the couch with a slight huff.

  • Kambrie smiled widely at him before sighing. "Maybe another time. You know, when I'm not injured?" She teased the smile returning to her face. She knew that she shouldn't forgive him so easy but he seemed different and if she knew anything about change, it was possible. Darcy used to be full of nothing but pranks and rude comments. She saw something different in him. He was actually trying. Her father? That was a different story. He left them high and dry to go find himself a new wife and new children. Her heart clenched at the memory. She didn't think she could ever forgive him. Her eyes glossed over for a minute before she seemed to shake it off and push it farther back in her mind. She didn't need Darcy to see the mess her father had left her in nor the scars of that pain. She forced a smile before questioning "Gryffindor or Slytherin?".

  • “Oh come on, don’t let a little thing like this stop you from free ice cream.” There was a teasing smile on his face as he looked down at her ankle before he yawned to take another scoop of ice cream. He happened to glance over at Kambrie out of the corner of his eye and caught sight of her brief glossy distant look to her. Just like that it was gone though and she started asking him about Hogwart houses. “How is that even a question? Slytherin of course. What about you? Please don’t tell me you’re a Hufflepuff or something.” Darcy would be lying if he said he wasn’t a hardcore bookworm when he was growing up. It really shouldn’t be surprising that him being the little brat he was would relate better to the Slytherin house then any other. Yawning he patted his stomach happily with an easy smile. “Man now I’m completely stuffed on ice cream.” He sunk back into the couch completely happy. He quirked a brow when he heard his phone buzz next to him. Setting his spoon aside he picked up his phone and sighed softly as he scrolled through the texts, multiple in fact one after the other from his classmates. None of them were particularly nice. Shaking his head he slid his phone in his pocket picking up his spoon and scraping out another spoonful of ice cream.

  • Kambrie was about to respond with a smile when she heard his phone buzz. Watching his features and body language it didn't take a genius to figure out who they were from. "First things first," she said as she scooted closer to him. She opened the camera app on her phone and went straight to Instagram. Grinning she took a picture of her head leaned into his shoulder laughing. After posting it she simply shrugged her shoulders "Now let them talk. Oh and by the way I'm totally Gryffindor."

  • He was left blinking a little in shock as she opened her camera and snapped a picture like they were having the time of her life. He offered a somewhat crooked smile when the camera appeared. He sighed softl to himself when she put it away. “Now why’d you do that then?” He huffed although there was a noticeable smile on his face as he went to scoop up the last of the ice cream. Sighing briefly he shrugged it off. He didn’t need to watched over like a helpless baby. Even though he appreciated it. “Gryffindor huh? I should have figured that out sooner rather then.” Yawning a little he stretched before he looked towards his old friend. “Why is that your favorite house?” He questioned as he licked the end of spoon and put settled the spoon on the tip on the tip of his nose ideally crossing his eyes to look down at the end of his nose.

  • Kensi shrugged as she responded "You're my friend are you not? I would've taken the picture before you left anyways. Moments like this need to be photographed." She grabbed another spoonful and went for another until she realized it was empty. She frowned before turning her attention back to Darcy. "Isn't it obvious? Hermione! She's the brightest witch of her age and I promise you if I was a witch she would be my idol." She laughed lightly.

  • “Sure you were.” He shounded less then convinced, but just shrugged his shoulders. Maybe this would be proof enough for people to just leave him be. That’s all her really wanted now. He glanced over to at Kambrie smiling softly to himself. “Yeah I remember when you dressed up as her for Halloween. I can’t believe you talked me into being Ron. I couldn’t rinse out that dye for days.” Puffing out his cheeks a little leaning back a little. He sighed when his phone buzzed in his pocket. Frowning a little he pulled his phone out of his pocket. He sighed when he saw a message from his mom asking if was behaving himself. He typed out a quick yes before slipping it back in his pocket. “Going somewhere like Hogwarts would be way better.” Standing up from the couch he collected up the empty ice cream container and spoons moving towards the sink with the spoons.

  • Kambrie started laughing at the memory. "You played him so we'll though! You could have been a Weasley," she teased him. She turned around to still be able to see him when he left for the kitchen. "We should do this more often. It's a load of fun," she invited not wanting him to think she had to see him everyday like when they were growing up but often enough. She had missed her male best friend and even lost her female best friend for choosing him. Least he could was be her entertainment for a few hours. She sighed softly in comfortablitiy. Her mind wondered to what school would be like when it was time for them to go back. Honestly, she was excited but also nervous. She didn't want people bashing Darcy just because she was a major jinx waiting to happen. She frowned feeling bad that her clumsiness had caused all of this.

  • (Lol whoops ^^’)

Darcy looked up practially dropping the spoons in his surprise when she said they should definitely do this again. This was good, right? It meant she was willing to let him back into her life a little more. Washing the spoons off he came back to the table with a goofy grin on his face. “Definitely.” He nodded his head a little before he looked at the time on his phone. “Geez looks like I better get going. I’m almost at my curfew.” Slipping his phone back into his pocket. His mom was no giving him an inch after he came home. “I’ll see you at school then.” Darcy hummed redundantly as he moved around the other side of the couch giving her a somewhat awkward wave.

  • Kambrie waved back at him before yawning. She was curious of where her brother was but didn't bother calling him. Instead, she hobbled her way up the stairs and into the shower. Admittedly she fell once or twice but managed fair enough. Once she was in her room, she opened her laptop clicking on her email. Typing in Darcy's email she linked her notes regarding the project and anything else he might need with a small side note from her 'Don't stress Darc! You've got this!'. Smiling softly she pressed send before drifting off to sleep.

  • Darcy walked in the door to find his mom, dad, and even his older brother all sitting in kitchen crowded around a couple to-go bags. “I’m surprised you came back.” His brother commented as he took a bite of his burger. Darcy huffed lightly shaking his head before snagging up one of the bags and hurrying off to his room, having the rest of his homework left to finish. He smiled when he opened his laptop and saw the email from Kambrie. Chuckling to himself he got to work on the project up most of the night to finish it all. His alarm went off way too early for his liking the next morning. Grunting to himself he slammed the snooze on his alarm clock and rolled back over in his bed, grumbling to himself.

  • Kambrie woke that morning to the annoying calls of her brother. Groaning she rolled over in the bed wincing when she hit her ankle. Grabbing her crutches, she hobbled to her closet picking out a pair of black tights with a purple blouse before going to the bathroom. After showering, she got dressed and pulled her hair into a high ponytail. Grabbing her books and her latop she made her way downstairs taking a seat at the table to eat whatever her brother made which so happened to be cereal in a bowl. Smiling at him, she began eating the food finishing within a few minutes and heading towards the door.
