  • Egil sheathed his owned blade. It wasn’t an exciting bit of training, but he did see slight improvement after several hours. Yawning to himself he started to make his way off the field before stopping to consider her invitation. “I suppose it wouldn’t hurt. I know you are just dying to spend time with me.” A teasing smile appeared on his face. The King’s other option for spending the evening was having Eske try to visit him until he agreed to give him an audience. Sending the generals off on errands meant he’d also lost his drinking buddies. “I don’t have to worry about Eske’s endless yammering at least, you are good repellent it seems.” He hadn’t missed the glares the man was giving her recently, but he also found it quite useful that he could avoid Eske simply by spending time with the princess. He’d probably use that as his excuse for spending time with her so often. “I’ll ask you now so I’m not surprised in the morning. Do you intend to sneak out to the streets every morning?” He asked as they walked looking ahead with his hand resting easily on his sword hilt. The castle halls were almost entirely deserted considering how late of an hour it was. Egil sighed with silent relief, he enjoyed the silence occasionally as well.

  • Kensi shoved him gently with a smile at his teasing. "It does seem that when I am present, Eske prefers not to be." she mused with a small laugh. She pondered on his question for moment or two "I do not think I will scale my prison tower again. Perhaps instead you could find a reason for venturing out of the palace?". She surprised herself by asking for more alone time with Egil. A yawn came from her lips as she turned down another hall. "Egil, while we are not at each other's throats I would like to thank you. My time here has not been a complete bore. Yes, you murdered my parents. That I may never forgive you for but I am beginning to understand more. You're simply giving peace to a world of violence. Every Kingdom you has been added to the Tora Empire. I'm sure whichever maiden you've chosen to keep would be glad to see you home.".

A pang of sadness hit her for a minute thinking of the woman that would be waiting for his return, if there was such a woman. She must be a fierce-some thing to behold. Being with Egil these past few days have been somewhat enjoyable. He had yet to punish her for escaping this morning but she knew now that it wouldn't be another whipping. She had bowed to him in front of his people and hers, well now theirs. She smiled softly to herself as she pushed open the kitchen doors. Chamber maids scurried to ask "King Egil, Your Highness, may we fetch you anything?". The princess looked at Egil and to the rumbling in her stomach "Tell the Kitchen Cook to fetch the best meat he has. We would like some wine as well." she instructed them with a smile.

  • Egil looked ahead as they walked, although he did give the briefest of smiles at her asking him to join on her next morning escapade. With quiet footsteps he offered a light shrug. “I might come up with a reason.” It wasn’t a guarantee, but he supposed she had a point in the fact he needed to interact with the people more here. The King did completely stop to turn to look at her as she thanked him. Quickly playing this thought off he continued to walk towards the kitchen. “I did not ever think I would hear those words come out of your mouth.” His tone was more light and less serious at first before they turned the corner. “Peace comes at a high cost.” He responded simply as they entered the kitchens. He avoided any mention of the woman that he might have waiting for him somewhere. He didn’t want to have a woman wait. A woman waiting for him would most likely have to wait in vain. There had been women that had promised to wait for him and he had laughed and told them not to bother. He stood back watching the women bustling around the kitchen hurrying to fill the order. Taking the basket that was produced, with the wine and meat neatly wrapped he gave a slight nod before he pushed his way out of the kitchen.

“These people need to learn to make a real drink. This is as weak as water.” He shook his head picking up the bottle as they walked. Plopping it back in the basket he walked along in silence. Thinking about the women he’d left behind. Glancing over at Kensi he was fairly sure he would simply part ways with her in the end. Egil shook his head when he felt a slight twinge of disappointment at the thought. Why should he care? He pondered this question as they walked along.

  • Kensi noticed he made no move to deny her claims of a woman waiting in Tora. She tried to hide the small hint of disappointment. "Our wine is not the best, I will admit. It did not stop several maidens from acting as though it was stronger. I can't recall how many would parade around in hopes a man would claim her that night.". She stopped by her Chambers pushing open the doors. She lit a few candles to light the room more than it was. She didnt understand why she felt disappointment when he didn't deny her claims or why she even cared at all. The man had murdered her parents and made her watch them bleed. Why did she feel anything towards the man other than hatred? But sadly, she realized she did. She had indeed learned to care for the man.

  • Egil recongized the slight hint of disappointment in her face before she was able to mask it completely. It struck him tha she was disappointed in the fact he didn’t deny it. Tabling this realization for a moment he followed her into the room chuckling a little at the description of the men prancing about pretending to be drunk. “I’ve seen women take one sip and that was enough to make them stumble about and swore they were drunk. Granted Torin alcohol is much stronger.” He tried to carry on the light conversation, it didn’t matter in the grand scheme of things if she cared about him or not. At the moment though he couldn’t quite convince himself of the pointlessness of even acknowledging her changing feelings or his own for that matter. “You mentioned a women waiting for me. I will not have any woman wait on me. “ Shrugging to play it off as casually as possible he did not want her thinking he was saying it for her sake. Pulling out the bottle of wine he pulled out two glasses with it. Pouring one for himself he then offered one to her as well.

  • Kensi seemed to nod at his words before taking the wine from him. "Well whenever a woman does wait on you I'm sure she will be a fearsome thing to behold. Must be to put up with you." She joked smiling once more. Cutting into the meat she found it was rather enjoyable. She hadn't ate like this in quite some time. Before the conversation could continue the doors were opened to a guard stating "Sorry to disturb you but a man is outside saying he is her husband.". Kensi's brows creased together in confusion before she groaned. "It's a prince from the Eastern Kingdom. Mother and Father had arranged a marriage to bond our kingdoms together. He is foul creature." She complained

  • Egil had just ripped off his first taste of food in several hours when the door was opened. Snapping his head around to look at the man it was clear that if it wasn’t important he would regret disturbing him at this late of hour. He stood himself up with a silent grumble sighing at her explanation. “I wonder how thick his head must be, to come here and demand anything of me.” His hand rested on his sword hilt. There was a dangerous glower in his eyes as he glanced over his shoulder at the princess clearly expecting her to come, but his eyes were blazing in anger. Egil had never taken kindly to being told what he could and couldn’t have and it was only agrivated over the fact this boy seemed to think he had any right to the princess now, after the Eastern Kingdoms had failed to do anything thus far to help the Arathem people. Striding out into the hall he motioned to one of the guards. “Let the princeling in and one man of his choosing, if anyone else is with him they stay outside the gates. Bring them to the Grand Hall.” The muscles in his jaws were clenched and as he pushed the doors open and stepped into the room Eske was already barking orders and trying to get things under control. Growling Egil glowered his direction. “I hope you have some excuse for letting enemies get to my gates without any resistance.” Hissing the man grabbed Eske’s collar before releasing it again as a guard came in leading the prince inside. Unclamping his hand from Eske’s neck he stood with his arms crossed over his chest.

  • Kensi followed Egil to the Great Hall before standing slightly behind him as the prince was brought in. "Kensington come here." He called holding out his hand. Kensi only stepped beside Egil and glared at the man. "Last you were here, I was slapped for simply asking for more wine. You take me for a fool? Your men did nothing to help my Kingdom and now you wish to claim yourself as my husband?". She spat at him. Stepping down from beside Egil she approached the man before a hard slap could be heard. "You disgrace me by standing in my presence. I am no woman to be claimed!" She yelled angrily. The man simply grabbed his cheek. As she turned to walk back to Egil, he gripped her arm tightly and pulled her back to him demanding "You dare lay a hand on me?! You vile disposable wrench.". Kensi tried jerking her arm away from him but with little luck. Remembering her training with Egil she jabbed his ribs with her elbow, threw her head back connecting with his nose in a loud crack and pulled a sword from a guard nearby aiming it near his neck.

  • Egil already had his hand resting on his blade as the prince was brought in so, he was able to bring it from its sheath without much trouble as she made her way over to him. The King frowned, but allowed her to go since this wasn’t his fight yet. His eyes narrowed however when the prince grabbed her arm and pulled her back to him. He stepped down stalking his way forwards as the guards around him all drew their weapons as well. He paused though as he heard the loud crack and the man clutched his nose letting out a yowl of pain. Egil nodded his approval before coming to stand beside her holding his sword close to the man’s chest with a sigh of disappointment. “I was at least hoping that you weren’t a complete and utter fool, but I was proven wrong.” He pressed his blade harder into the man’s chest drawing blood. “Your Magesty wait!” Eske was practically screaming hurrying over with his hands flailing in the air. “He could serve as a better hostage then as a corpse.” Eske was clearly trying to bargain for this prince’s life. Narrowing his eyes Egil’s sharp gaze was enough to shut the man up. He turned to look at the princess. “He is your dearly beloved. Make a choice.” He lowered his sword the tiniest bit turning his attention to her. Egil wasn’t typically willing to give up a kill, but he figured it was better to let the princess have the choice.

  • Kensi pondered on the decision for a moment. She knew his kingdom would retaliate but she also knew their King. He was a weak man. That was the purpose of this forged alliance. To better protect the Eastern Kingdom. Most of their army came from Arathem. Without any notice, Kensi took the blade she held and sliced it through his neck. "The cost of disrespecting a King is death.". Blood had splattered on her dress but she took no notice. Facing the man he brought with him her eyes narrowed "Tell your King, there's a new King. This alliance is dead. Ethan! Sent riders to the Eastern Kingdom. Call back the army we sent to aid them." She commanded, handing the blade back to the guard she had taken it from. Turning around, she walked back to the thrones and took her seat.

  • Egil watched the man fall to the ground wiping a bit of blood that had splattered on to his face. Drawing back his sword he frowned to himself. Eske narrowed his eyes as she barked orders scowling rather then doing anything himself. Egil wheeled around to face him with burning eyes. “Go.” He growled holding on to his sword hilt. There was a momentary pause in which Eske looked up at Kensington with pure hatred before making his way out of the room before the King delivered on his silent threat. Stalking back towards the throne he sat down as well shifting again. Looking down at the corpse now in the middle of the Great Hall he sighed loudly before turning back to the woman seated beside him. “You got to have all of the fun.” He pointed out before an amused look came over his face. Turning to look at the guards still present he motioned to the body. “Get it out of here. It would be considerate if we delivered the body back to the Eastern Kingdoms wouldn’t it?” A dark laugh rumbled in his chest. He could set his sights to the East now and take it with little trouble. He had wanted to take Arathem’s military strength out of the East’s control before they took it for themselves. He was anxious to travel again, but he knew it would most likely not be much of a fight if there was one at all.

  • Kensi smirked at him "Oh well. When the army returns, you can instruct them on the strike. The Eastern Kingdom is weak and always has been. That was the purpose of the marriage. So we would send our army to aid them. Now that I've called back that said army, they don't stand a chance and you get another Kingdom to claim.". She remembered Eske hate filled look at her but wasn't so worried about it. She looked down at her dress before locking gazes with Egil once more. "Is it wrong that I feel no remorse for his death?" she questioned not bothering to change or wipe his blood off her face. To be honest, she felt a thrill when she struck the sword ordering his death.

It gave a sense of power and strength. She wasn't going to turn bloodthirsty or anything but it felt decent to her to end a man as vile as he was. Perhaps next she should try to find her old professor. A smirk graced her lips before she yawned, it still being night. "Perhaps we should retire for the night." she was tired but conflicted with her emotions more. She felt something for the King and even murdered a man for disrespecting him. This was her Kingdom now. She was no longer just a Princess trying to seek reason, but a Queen.

  • Egil chuckled shaking his head a light smile with a bit of a twisted sense of amusement seeing the fact she wasn’t afraid after killing a man. “No, its not. He was foolish enough to come here, he needed to perish one way or another.” The man tone was rather callused about the man’s fate now. “That wine is even starting to look more promising then it had before.” Scratching at his chin he stepped away from the thrones and began to make his way out of the room. As soon as they had left the Great Hall he stopped to make sure no one was listening currently. “You defended yourself well.” Egil gave as a compliment not bothering to hide the fact he was impressed that she was able to protect herself against the prince and ended his life without much trouble at all. It was something he found impressive and not something he would have expected when he first saw the princess with her cobbled together sword raised above her head.

A lot would had changed in a very short time. This was what took up most of his attention as he walked through the torch lit corridor. He would be lying if he claimed to have no attachment to Kensi. Shaking his head Egil glanced down the hall as they neared his own chambers. “I suppose this is farewell until tomorrow.” He said with a shrug as he went to stand in front of his door turning to face the princess, taking a pause to appreciate the glow of the torches making her fiery red hair stand out even more.

  • Kensi blushed slightly at his compliment before nodding her head. "Indeed it is, My King.". Placing a chaste kiss on his cheek, she retreated to her own Chambers. Once the doors were closed, she let out the breath she didn't realize she was holding. As she brushed her hair, she hummed a light melody thinking of Egil. After she was bathed and dressed for bed, she noticed a wine glass and a note. Thinking it was from Egil, she opened it with a smile "We never finished that drink of ours.". She laughed to herself shaking her head before raising the glass as if to say cheers. Downing the drink in one go, she made a disgusted face. "We really do need better wine". Waking around the chambers, she picked up the book she had been reading wondering if she would ever finish it. Slowly a sharp pain settled into her stomach causing her to hold it with a pained face. She grunted out as the pain increased. The next that followed was the increased thirst and a headache forming. Stumbling to the door, she reached for the handle falling short. The glass in her hand shattered to the floor as she collapsed, her breathing becoming uneven. "Egil" she called out voice hoarse and weak. Her eyes fluttered close ever so often before finally shutting and staying shut.

  • Left utterly dumbfounded he had nothing to say as she hurried away to leaving him to touch the cheek she had kissed. Whatever feelings he was trying to deny himself of having started to bubble to the surface even more. Frowning he shook his head and stalked into his room slamming the door behind him. This was the last thing he needed on his mind. The guards he had assigned to watch over Kensi seemed to be more vigilant then the ones before as when they heard the glass shatter they pulled open the doors only to find the princess collapsed with the remains of the glass around her. One of the men went to check her condition while the other ran off to fetch Egil. The loud banging on his door drew the man up as he pulled it open to see a frantic guard. “The princess.” Was all he got out before Egil came into the hallway practically knocking him right off his feet. Egil sprinted down the hall to her chambers finding the large gathering around the princess. “Move!” He roared crouching down to examine her unconcious body. Scooping her up gingerly in his arms he turned to his men who were standing around in shock. “Bring every healer we can find. I want to know what is wrong with her.” He barked orders while going to lay her on the bed.

While the commotion was going on the note that had been on her nightstand was snatched up by a bribed guard. Egil would recongize Eske’s writing for sure. Crouching down he put his hand on her forehead his face darkening in worry as he felt how much she was burning up. He didn’t move from his spot until a healer arrived looking exhausted in their night clothes. Egil waved them in to examine the princess practically hovering nearby and causing the healer’s hands to shake from his constant gaze.

  • Kensi remained in her frozen stature. The healer pressed a wet cloth to her forehead to ease the temper before going to examine the room. "This is where she was found?" he questioned as a guard nodded to him. Picking up the shards of glass, he sniffed the few remaining drops before looking to the princess with a worried gaze. "She's been poisoned, My King.". He brought the glass to Egil as if to have him smell for himself. "Without knowing exactly how she was poisoned I cannot fix the antidote. She may day Your Majesty." Dread was clear in his voice as he looked at the Princess. Her held was in a frozen state as though she was holding something before falling.

Filler post since my character is unconscious haha

  • When he smelled the bitter remnants left on the glass shard. His eyes were narrowed to slits looking up at the healer clearly holding back blind rage from the fact that the healer couldn’t do anything without knowing what she had been poisoned with. “Do whatever it takes!” The King grabbed the healer’s collar. “If she willl die, then you die.” Releasing him Egil briefly walked over to her bed side touching her cheeks that were burning up. Drawing back his hand he turned away stalking out the room. Gathering up the guards he was deathly serious. “Lock down the castle. Bring everyone to the Great Hall.” Moving out of the room he stalked into the Great Hall as the guards were rushing about to get his orders out. Sitting down on the throne there were people being herded into the room, servants, guards, and high ranking members of the Torin army. Eske stumbled in almost last with a rather perturbed look on his face scowling at the crowd before going to stand close to Egil’s throne. The King stood up once the doors were drawn shut. A hush ran over the crowd all eyes turning to Egil.

“Princess Kensington was found after having her wine poisoned. The coward should come forwards now.” There was a shocked mummer, but no one stepped forwards. Eske yawned loudly earning him a glower from the King as he continued to stand waiting for an individual to come forwards, with his hand resting on the hilt of his sword.

  • The healer studied Kensington as her breathing hiccuped. Sweat poured down her face tempature rising. Thinking of anything he could to ease her fever, he placed her into a cold bath. The sweating increased before the shivering set in. Sighing, he rubbed her face with a rag praying that she lived. He didn't understand who could possibly have poisoned her. Who would want to? Kensington thrashed slightly in the water before he pulled her out drying her the best he could without taking off any clothes. "Come now my Princess. You must fight." He coached to deaf ears. Her fingers twitched slightly before going limp. It seemed as though the poison was paralyzing her before killing her.

  • His questioning was getting no where and it was clear the people were both growing worried for their own safety the longer this went on and if the princess died there was no telling what the King would do. Eske didn’t seem nearly as worried though, more just irritated with the whol affair. “If she isn’t strong enough to fight it then she was meant to die.” Eske waved his hand in the air dismissively, with droplets of sweat collecting on his brow. Egil scowled narrowing his eyes. “Tell the healer it might be a Torin poison.” He called out to one of the guards who bowed his head and hurried out the door. It wasn’t much to go on, but Torins weren’t big on poisons either. There were only three main kinds, two were simply for putting victims to sleep, there was lethal kind that they used to rituals when deciding who was strong enough to lead. Egil sat back down in his throne scratching at the edge of his beard. Eske was notably growing more agitated by the minute, but Egil seemly ignored him for the time being waiting for any word from the healer. He hoped that it would work. His heart twisted a little again at the thought of loosing her.
