  • Egil sighed as he laid a wet rag on his neck, sheathing his sword. He’d been sparing before the sun came up, only lit by the torches lining the area. Now the sun was up and it was time for the more serious work to begin. He wandered his way between the narrow alleyways that were used by most of the servants get places quickly. Walking under the large stone walls he looked up catching sight of something white dangling from the balcony above. A make shift escape rope dangling from the princess’ room did not leave much room for imagination. Walking briskly back into the castle he rounded up the first men he found. He sent three to find and hold the men who had been left to guard the princess and the other seven came with him as he mounted up on his large golden horse and sent men into the streets. If the princess wanted to play games they could play games.

While he and his group of men were breaking up to search the streets, Eske had his own large group of assorted men knocking on doors to find out just who lived inside. Eske stood aside as they drug a clearly drunk Torin warrior out from a home while an older couple looked on relief. “By order of His Majesty any occupants other then the residents will be arrested and made to stand trial for trespassing.” Eske read off the formal decree in his hands looking down as he walked nearly crashing right into a hooded woman. He narrowed his eyes rolling up the parchment. Looking up quickly he frowned glowering at the woman. “Move, some of us have imporant matters to over see.”

  • Commotion started through the streets stirring the curiousness in Kensi. Following the sounds of guards and townsfolk she found Egil and Eske searching homes and throwing out Torin warriors. She decided to reveal herself "King Egil, good morning." A small curstie had the common folk confused. She walked up to his horse and began slowly soothing it. "Nice day is it not?". She fought a smile from forming. She had not only gotten away from the guards by her Chambers but also the guards on the street. No doubt Egil would be angry with her, she just hoped he would allow her to explain her actions before her punishment. Studying his fewtures, she noticed he was in fact a handsome man. 'A man who murdered your parents and your people's she reminded herself but even so still held some doubt in her mind.

  • Egil could recongize her as soon as she made to approach his horse. His blue eyes narrowed ever so slightly able to pick up on the bit of humor from her voice, he on the other hand was visibly irked. This was a game and he did not feel like playing along with it at the moment. Sitting taller in his saddle he frowned looking down at her. “Wasting time a search for a wayward princess is not my idea of a nice day.” He said with a harsh tone. He was annoyed at her being able to get past not only guards at her door, but men looking for her in the streets. There were common people staring in confusion at just what was happening. Rolling his eyes the King extended his arm down to her holding his hand out. He clearly expected her to take it. “Join me.” It was more of an order then a direct invitation to her. Helping her get into the saddle he turned his horse in the opposite direction of the castle venturing deeper into the streets. “I take it you have these morning walks quite often.” Anyway he rode the people on the stree moved aside making room for his horse. Egil didn’t make it clear where he was going except it wasn’t directly back the way they had come.

  • Kensi smiled breifly as they turned away from the castle. "Indeed. They are quite peaceful. This was not my way of playing any games with you Egil. I tire of seeing the same castle walls. You're guards would never have allowed me out of Chambers unless you commanded." She explained herself, to ease the situation. Punishment would surely come her way, though she hoped it would not. Passing the people on the streets she waved gently at them flashing a smile. Her loose wavy hair blew with the wind as she leaned her head back to bask in the freedom.

  • The only real response she got at first was a grunt, a sign that he’d heard her, but did not answer immediately. Egil continued to ride along through the streets. Since he had to come out here anyway he was going to make the most of his time. “Your brilliant solution was to go scaling off your balcony?” He questioned clearly not taking her answer as complete justification. Sighing he looked at one of the few people out trying to sell their wares, a farmer who was selling a pitiful amount of corn. Halting his horse a ways away watched for a moment before slipping a bag tied to belt. “Go buy what he has left and find out names who lost their crops.” He swiveled around dropping the bag in her hand. Leaning back in the saddle he watched from the distance knowing she would have an easier time talking to the people then he would. He thought briefly of what to do with her. Staring at her back he let out a quiet breath out. He would worry about that train of thought later. Looking around him they were drawing just as much attention here, he narrowed his eyes to slits with a hard frown on his face sending the common folk hurrying away leaving him be for the time being.

  • Sorry my posts seem short, I'm not on my laptop ATM.

Kensi slide of the horse and made her way to the man with a smile. "Good morning Evan." She greeted him. He bowed to her slightly "Princess." She took out a few coins from the bag and placed them in his hand "I would like to take these off your hands. I'm sure they'll be delicious.". Evan smiled at her and started to thank her a few times. Looking around at the now disperse crowd she caught sight of a few other farmers. "Sebastian, Lloyd. How are your crops?" She approached the two men. They too bowed before answering "Destroyed ma'am. The soil isn't as healthy at it was.". She seemed to be in thought for a moment before looking at Egil and then scoping the land. "Try to use the outer border. The soil was rich there this time of year." She reached in the bag and handed them each a few coins "For your crop.". The men thanked her before running off. Continuing down the streets and finding a few other farmers she greeted them and advised them as well. When she was done, the bag was near empty but the people seemed happy. Smiling at the other few common folk, she found a crying girl. She kneeled down to her height "What is wrong sweetie?". The girl sniffled before pointing towards the direction the army had come. "Where are your parents?" Kensi tried once more but the girl only cried more. "Come. We will find them together." She took the girls hand and led her through the streets finding a woman crying out for her child "Emerald!". The girl released Kensi's hand and ran to the woman. Kensi sighed happily happening to love helping the people.

  • Egil watched her from perched a top his horse. The King didn’t mind loosing the coin since it was of little consequence to him, besides it helped endear the people to their princess so much more. A blind man would probably be able to tell that she had an overwhelming amount of compassion for her people. While he waited he also observed Eske rounding up the last of the Torin men who had been squatting in people’s homes. Riding through the crowd to meet them he stopped his horse short of Eske who was once again reading off the docket he had prepared himself. “Eske get to the point already.” The King grumbled as he droned on to men who simply did not care. They were in trouble and that was all that they needed to know. The men bowed at his approach before Eske rolled up the parchment. He straightened his back when he saw that the princess was gone yet again. Egil motioned down the road where she had gone holding a little girl’s hand. “Why are you letting her roam around still?” Eske asked in a hushed tone standing close to the large horse. “The people like her. I do not mind letting her talk to them.” With a short nod he turned his horse and trotted away back towards the princess, sending people diving for safety to not get trampled by the massive beast.

When he got close enough he slowed his horse to a stop quirking a brow as he looked down at her. “Come on. I have to deal with your mess now.” He grumbled offering out his hand to her. Eske and his men went off for the castle as well. There was going to be a lot more sitting in those uncomfortable thrones in his future.

    (I get it ^^ )

  • Kensi looked at him with a smile. She took his hand and climbed atop his horse. "Thank you". She didn't care about what was to happen simply that her people were now happy and taken care of. She waved goodbye to them one last time before he rode off to the castle. Egil may not be the cruel man she had thought. He allowed her to remain in town after scaling the palace and allowed her to tend to her people. "Perhaps another day you can come with me to tend to the people. You're their King now Egil. They need to know not to fear you. They would have more respect for you if they saw what I did." She told him before climbing down his horse. She took the apple from earlier out of her dress pocket running her hand down the horse's mane as her other hand held out the apple. It tickled her hand as the horse ate the apple. "I shall see you in the Grand Hall, Egil.". She walked away from him passing the guard who shared a curious look.

  • Egil watched her back as she left with a slightly curious thought as she left. What exactly did she think she could see in him? He considered this after stepping off his horse who nosed his hand looking for any signs of another apple stashed somewhere. Rolling his eyes he handed his horse off to one of the guards sitting around gawking before making his way back inside. There was a good crowd of people gathering in the Great Hall, curious of what was going to happen. Not only were there several fighters charged with trespassing, but the princess and the two guards who had been watching her also had to be dealt with. Word traveled fast through the camps. Men stepped aside when the doors were pulled open and the King strode into the Great Hall with the same irritated expression he had worn all morning.

Sitting himself down in the former King’s throne he nodded down to Eske and the man marched in the men charged with trespassing. “I have better things to do then have to waste time and men pulling my warriors out of homes. The men will pay the original residences back for food and time stayed. Furthermore they will be stripped of their honors until they can prove they are men and not common scum.” His voice boomed out for all to hear. The men looked utterly shocked, but in the end bowed their heads and left the Great Hall with what little was left of their dignity. A man who didn’t have honors was considered a coward and lowest of the low. Egil sighed and sat back waiting for this boring business to be over with. There were far better things he would rather be doing with his time.

  • Kensi looked at Egil a little surprised before retaining her bored look. Served the men right for detroying homes of innocent women, men, and children. Instead of looking at the buisness Egil had to tend to, she let her thoughts ramble. Egil was not a kind man but he had a kind side. It showed when he let her stay in town and again when he let her tend to the people instead of dragging her back by her hair and another whipping. He held some form of compassion by forcing his men out of the common folks homes and ordering them to repay them for food and their time there. Interrupting what was being done, she rose from beside Egil, shocking guards and townsfolk alike. Eske seemed aggitated with her actions but she wanted to show her people that Egil could be trusted and was their New King. Sure she had done this in private but now she deemed it appropriate to have an auidence. She stepped down from the thrones and approached Egil's throne. Kneeling before him she spoke loud and clear "King Egil, I, Princess Kensington Charleston of Arathem bow to you. I swear from this moment forward to acknowledge you only as my King. My people are now your people. I swear to you my alligence. Long may you rein.". After a few minutes of silence passed, the townsfolk joined in chanting "Long Live the King". She smiled up at him warmly and to ensure that this was not forced, she reached forward and grabbed his hand placing a kiss on his knuckles. "Please tell me you washed that" she teased so only they could hear.

  • Egil watched her with clear curiousity when she interrupted everything to stand up and kneel herself right in front of him. It seemed she was still full of surprises. He listened to her more formal address now to all the people. It perplexed him considering the fact he had not prompted her to do it, which made it all the more shocking to not only himself, but the crowd as well. Egil chuckled a little to himself at the loud cheering that followed. Looking down at Kensi he studied her face, taking her smile as assurance that she indeed was doing it with this large of an audience because she wanted to. “If it makes you feel any better I will say I did.” There was a clear bit of amusement in his voice as he motioned for her to rise back up to her feet. Nodding one final time he turned his attention back to Eske who pointed again to his documents clearly wanting to steer things back in the direction he intended. Sighing to Egil dropped the smile from his face and they continued. This is exactly why he delegated this part of ruling to Eske who showed all the interest he lacked in it. Sitting patiently through the final items he dismissed the crowd out first. As soon as they were gone and he was left with the princess and his advisor of sorts he practically bolted up from the cursed throne he’d been stuck in for far too long in his opionion. Striding away from the thrones he glanced at her briefly. “Care to join me for a little stroll?” He needed to stretch his legs and he also wanted to have a word with the princess without Eske’s still perturbed expression leering at him the entire time.

  • Kensi watched with slight amusement at Egil's boredom while Eske seemed to drone on and on. She noticed the short glare she would receive from Eske simply smiling at him, to enrage him further. Once the crowd was dismissed Kensi eagerly stood from the throne breathing a sigh of relief. Once Egil spoke to her she approached him before following him through the doors. After a few minutes of walking in silence, she glanced around ensuring no one was present before taking his arm "Come. I wish to show you something.". She pulled him with great effort before stopping in front of a river. The trees casted over it gave it plenty of coverage and shade. She released his arm as she sat by the ridges, gently setting her feet inside the cool water. "Peaceful is it not? No one watching you nor expecting anything from you. I used to come here often to escape my professor.". She stopped when she realized she had spoken too much. Bringing her knees to her chest, she showed her vulnerability to Egil "He was a vile man. My parents hired him when I was seven. For years after I begged and pleaded with them to have him replaced or banished. They thought me a foolish child making up stories to escape my lessons. They increased them in turn as a punishment for my stories. That's why i forged my own terrible sword. As protection. It seemed to scare him enough to keep his hands to himself.". She quickly wiped away a tear and forced a smile towards Egil.

  • Egil was not extremely willing to follow anyone blindly since it very well could get him killed, still he finally gave in and followed her to wherever she had in mind. Coming to the river he inclined his head slightly before going to sit at the water’s edge. He listened to the soft sounds of the water as it babbled on by. He kept his feet on dry land while listening to her talking. His attention went from the water to her. He frowned, but kept quiet until she elaborated on what exactly she meant. He was clearly caught off guard by her suddenly showing him her move vunerable points. Egil’s frowned deepened and he picked up a rock and threw it into the water silent for a short while even after she had turned to look at him with a painfully forced smile. “Sounds like someone I would happily end the life of.” Egil mumbled mostly to himself before his blue eyes turned to meet her own. “It’s admirable, your sheer will power to overcome what should have held you back.” It was a compliment, in his own way of course. Leaning his back against a tree he closed his eyes for a moment lost in his own thoughts. It was hard to tell just what exactly he was thinking, until he opened his eyes again and looked her over. “Tonight meet me in the training yard. I don’t think waving a sword will be enough among my men.” Staring back at the water he fell silent again. Women weren’t typically meant for fighting, Egil had fought with a few women who were determined enough to become warriors, so he supposed she wasn’t completely hopeless in learning. He framed it in his own mind as trying to make her a little more useful to him, but there were other reasons he didn’t fully address in his own mind.

  • Kensi pondered in her own thoughts for a minute, his actions confusing her more. Smiling to herself, she ran a little ways down the river and changed into what in the future would be called a bikini. Running back, she jumped into the water splashing him in the process. A smile was on her face when she emerged. Swimming around she couldn't help but laugh at his wet state. "If I shall be trained by you then you need to be trained in the art of pleasing yourself.". She splashed him once more as if taunting him. "You surprised me today Egil. You could have dragged me back into my chambers by my hair and another wiping but instead you allowed me to stay and tend to my people. Thank you for that. Perhaps you are not what i thought you to be.".

    Filler post!

  • Egil stayed rooted in his spot by the tree until she showed up again. “You’ve lost what little sense you had.” He stood himself up just in time to be drenched head to toe by her antics. Snapping his head in her direction he scowled, not finding it nearly as funny as she did. Crossing his arms over his chest he shielded his face as he was splashed yet again. “And you plan to do that by pelting me with water?” He muttered before slipping his shirt off over his head hanging on a nearby branches. As soon as he took off his sword belt and boots he finally sighed giving in and leaping into the water himself. Reemerging a moment later, paddling straight for the shore, holding on to a tree root that had dipped into the water. Coughing on the water, he looked around not seeming to really get the point of how this was supposed be anything other then taking a bath. “You thought you had me figured out did you?” Egil chuckled to himself before suddenly turning and splashing her in return. “Don’t believe that this means I am going to forget about the fact you climbed off the balcony.”

  • Kensi looked at him with wide eyes huffing. "It was your guards fault. They should have been paying attention. Surely it had to have made some noise." she pointed out before climbing out of the water. She shook out her hair as she grabbed her dress and slid it back on. "Now then. I shall go change and be ready for tonight. If you deem it it to punish me best get it over with.". She walked away from him without another word. The guards seemed to hold in laughter at her wet stance as she passed them. Heading into her chambers she took off her wet clothes changing into a white shirt with black pants as well a pair of boots. She sat on her bed looking over the food that had been brought before opening her book and sitting on the bed. That man seemed to both make her curious and to infuriate her. She was barely able to focus on the pages of the book as she grew more agitated by Egil.

  • Egil stepped out of the water after she was long gone. He rolled his eyes as he picked up his shirt. Sitting himself down in the sun he waited for his clothing to dry almost immediately regretting his decision to jump in the water. It was a pointless thing that he shouldn’t have stooped to. As the time passed and his clothes finally dried he stood himself back up and yawned. Making his way into the castle. He was located by Eske almost as soon as he came inside. He listened up until the point he started to talk about going over plans later that night. “Not tonight. I need rest. I trust you to make the best decisions.” Waving him off he continued to stroll his way through the halls. Flagging a servant over he sent them off an errand before continuing his walk through the castle, wrapped up in his own thoughts about his wayward princess he had to deal with. As the sun set he made his way out to the training yards, with straw scarecrows propped up to serve as mock opponents and several swords and shields discarded off to the side. Slipping his sword from its sheath and waited. He had little patience so, if she showed up soon he would teach her, if not then he would drop the matter entirely. The King would put only as much effort into this as she did. Cleaning his blade he was standing near the low lit torches that kept the grounds from being in complete darkness.

  • Kensi walked through the halls before tuning towards the training grounds. She noticed Egil standing by the torches before she arrived. Walking to the blades, she grabbed one that seemed a little heavy but not by much. She swung it around a few times to a get feel for it. Turning towards Egil she took a defensive stance. "Teach me something.". She taunted him a few times before turning her attention to the scarecrow dummy. She faked a dodge rolling to her side using her foot to kick the scarecrow's 'feet'. As it fell she jumped to her feet and stabbed the sword through it's heart. She looked at Egil for any corrections or mockery.

  • Egil rolled his eyes watching as she swung around the blade to get the feel of it. “Burning up your torch light.” He called taking up his blade, but leaving her unchallenged even when she goaded him on. Sticking his blade into the ground he leaned on the hilt watching with amusement at her little dance around the training dummy before kicking its base out. Chuckling to himself he let her finish before drawing his sword up out of the ground. “I might find you terrifying, if I was made of straw myself.” He pointed out scornefully shaking his head in disapproval. “Your opponent won’t give you enough time to roll and then get a stab right through the heart. If you’re done waving it around at dolls would you like to have a go at me then?” He challenged with a thin smile across his face. This was one thing that the King had always felt at home at. It was a safe assumption he would not be easy on the princess, but he also couldn’t stand the thought of letting her swing around a sword like she did. If she wanted to pick up a blade then she was going to have to learn the hard way how to actually use the thing in fighting. He stepped away closer to the torches doing a bit of taunting himself.

  • Kensi hardened her gaze before charging at him. She swung the sword towards his arm, blocked. Swung it near his legs, blocked. She couldn't seem to make a move as he always blocked her. After a few hours of training Kensi now had bruises and a few cut marks. She was breathing hard and exhausted from the day's work. She had managed a few fists to Egil's body though so that was an improvement from his constant blocking. "Join me for dinner?" she asked as she threw the blade back to its original place.
