  • TAGS ✦ ✧ ✦ — "Thank you..." she mused, placing the cobwebs in the basket, her tone absentminded and empty. After a few more moments of thinking and staring at the ground like a fresh squirrel was screaming at her to eat it, she shook her head furiously once more. She had to forget the past. What was done, was done. And with Angelbeats by her side--presumably the rest of the Ruins as well with Always Dead in charge--her babysitter had everything to fear, and everything to lose. "Let's...keep walking, okay? Can you help me find some...tormentil, please?"

  • BILLIE JEAN --

Swallowing, Billie would nod in agreement. The tabby still felt guilty for prying, though she hadn't anticipated that the medic trainee's past be so harrowing. Sundance seemed anxious to let the topic fade, and she would oblige her, not wanting her mentor-figure to linger on what had caused her such pain. "Tormentil. . ." She repeated, closing her eyes in an effort to recall the herb that she had been shown earlier. "Yellow, small, with four flowers," she remembered aloud, keeping the imagery of the plant close as she prowled about, looking for it.

  • TAGS ✦ ✧ ✦ — Sundance nodded, giving a furious shake of her head, her bow flying off. As the kitsune went to retrieve it, she too looked around for tormentil. "Now, do you know what tormentil is used for?" she inquired, grabbing the bow and attaching it to her head once more, then letting her gaze sweep the ground for the herb.

  • BILLIE JEAN --

Billie gave an eager nod, eyes lighting up in recollection. "Yes, you said that it can be used to treat wounds and remove poison. You chew it into a poultice and then apply it." They had reviewed that herb soon after her arrival, and the kitten was pleased to be able to recall what the kitsune had taught her and hoped she had done so successfully. A soft smile would appear as the medic trainee re-adjusted her head. Around her neck was her seashell necklace that Valradin had given her; she liked seeing other creatures accessorize, too. She would begin to prowl about, searching for the four-petaled yellow flower.

  • BILLIE JEAN --

That was definitely a valuable herb, then. Scuffling through a tangle of greenery, her olive eyes would scan through the plants as she looked for the one they sought after in particular. Sifting through some long grass, she would take sight of a patch of familiar looking yellow flowers. "Sundance? Is this it?" She called, looking over to her mentor.

  • Her head perked up as Billie called her name, and she made her way over to the patch of flowers. After examining them for a few moments, she smiled and nodded. "Yes, these are it! Good job!" The kitsune bent down and picked up some flowers by their roots, before placing them in her basket. "Okay, do you want to go back now, or keep looking?"

  • BILLIE JEAN --

Billie's chest would puff out at the praise, her eyes sparkling as she thought, "I just found my first herb!"

Certainly would she look back on this moment with fondness, even as the moons passed and she would go on to pick more herbs than she could possibly count. This was an important day in her life as she feelings that swarmed within her chest were of a warm certainly, the feeling of finding the tormentil having been unlike any other. It was what she was meant to do, she decided, it was her destiny and her paws itched to find more; to learn more; to do more. But as her maw parted to pleadingly ask that they continue looking for a little longer, her words were intercepted by a massive yawn.

It had been a big day for a little kitten and she couldn't deny the heaviness that was beginning to weigh upon her eyelids, nor how sore her paws were feeling from the travelling. Each step had started to feel like walking a mile and though she was reluctant to admit it, she thought that it might be time to call it a night. "Maybe. . . We should go back and sleep," she suggested after a long moment, tiredness to her sparkling olive gaze.

  • TAGS ✦ ✧ ✦ — She smiled, albeit it was a tired one, as Sundance herself was starting to feel exhausted as well, and a bit hungry. "All right, let's head back. You can sleep in my den for tonight, and I'll take you back to Always Dead in the morning. How about that?"

  • BILLIE JEAN --

"Yes, that sounds good. Thank you for all that you've taught me, Sundance. I won't forget my time here, or all that I've learned." Agreeably did the drowsy kitten murmur this, though her tired eyes were tinged with admiration as she blinked up at the kitsune. It had certainly been a busy day and she felt as if she were a changed cat, in a way. The following morning, she would journey back home and share all that she had learned with her loved ones.

  • TAGS ✦ ✧ ✦ — "No problem, Billie. You're welcome to visit anytime you need lessons or advice--anything, really." the kitsune mused, before a yawn escaped her maw. Yep, she was ready for bed for sure, after a squirrel and time with her mate.

Her first apprentice...man, her parents would be enraged. She gave a small smirk as she headed back to camp.
