  • Great, just what he needed. It wasn’t the job exactly, he just didn’t expect to be paired with someone. He could just try to get along with the person but getting along never was part of his vocabulary. Felix checked his phone again for the directions to where they were suppose to meet up. The temperature was moderate, not too warm not was it too cool but a little muggy. Overcast day but that’s just what Felix liked.

Felix eventually found the spot, a little library on the corner. Huh, at least it wasn’t too suspicious. He checked his phone to read over what exactly they had to do once they met up. Murder. His favorite. Well, it didn’t exactly say murder but that was what it implying. Felix huffed and put his phone away, tucking it into his pocket before lazily looking around for who he was suppose to be meeting with before taking a seat on a bench to wait for the other. Hopefully they didn’t take too long to get here...

  • Adrian watched him, nose wrinkling in distaste. Checking his own cellular device in hopes of it being a lie, he sighed. Uncrossing his legs, the man stood and walked towards the twenty-two year old. He glanced at the picture on his phone screen again and rolled his eyes skyward. Just his luck, a undistinguished ruffian for a partner. Not that it mattered, the job would get done one way or another. He only hoped this one had some literary sense to him, or it would be a complete loss.

"Felix. . . Coldsmith, was it?" he droned, his voice bored and disinterested, and not really a question either. "I believe you are to be mine today forward."

  • Felix flicked his dark eyes over as he a man approached him. He stood up, the first thing he noticed was how tall this guy was. Dammit, he hated being considered ‘short.’ He listened to him and nodded in confirmation that he was the owner of that name. The next words that left Adrian’s lips made him raise a pierced brow and gained a quick reaction from him.

Yours? I don’t think you get it, Adrian, that’s your name right? Anyway, I don’t belong to no one, not yet at least,” he spoke up, his voice just a little higher. More of a tenor than a baritone if you classified voices by that scale. Not annoyingly so. He wasn’t going to give himself over to this guy so easily, yeah, even if his face was absolutely perfect and he had a nice voice. Not the point, he didn’t belong to anyone and he would make that very clear.

  • Adrian chuckled, though it lacked amusement. "We'll see, Coldsmith." Turning his face away, he looked up at the library then pulled up a page on his phone. Flicking a gloved finger over the screen three times, he put the device away and smiled indulgently at his new assassin.

Dropping to sit on the bench, he rested his elbow on the armrest and set his chin in his palm. "I take it you've got the target details? Zero wants it made an example of." His smile only grew the more he spoke until it had become a crooked smirk, his expression both easy and sardonic. "You'll have five exit options, and you won't be needing my help, right?"

  • Felix glared at the taller man, taking a moment to roll his dark eyes and sighed. He looked away at that smile. God dammit, he really wanted to hate this guy but his appearance made it a little difficult. He kind of wanted to punch him but not punch him too hard that he damaged his face because he was pretty.

Felix stuff his hands in his pockets, keeping his gaze away from the man he was assigned to and scoffed. “Of course I got the details,” he mumbled, a bit of attitude to his words. His glare snapped back to the other and his jaw clenched a little. “Like I would need your help,” he muttered. He could do this on his own, he has done missions like this before on his own. Yes, he was a bit on the shorter side but he was capable of killing.

  • So prickly, Adrian almost wanted to croon. For being such a ruffian, his new partner was about as cute as a porcupine. It only made him want to tease him more. Adrian sighed and waved his free hand dismissively. "Then go. You're wasting my time, Coldsmith." Of course, for all that he didn't like such unkempt individuals, Adrian knew anyone with a rank of Hellbringer had skill. Most were dead before their application even hit the review board for consideration.

"Just scream my name," Adrian added, bemusement leaking into his voice, "and I'll come for you."

  • Felix was trying his damnedest to not stab this guy. Ugh, his attitude was what pissed him off the most. He seemed so dead inside and such a stiff person. Y’know, the type that watched you from their window and went off about you to their friend on the phone about how you dared to invite someone over and hang out. How dare you have social interactions? He quietly mocked the other man before checking to make sure he had his knives and starting off. His last comment is what made him blush and stop for a moment. Felix felt a smirk pull at his pierced lips and he looked over his shoulder.

Mmm, sounds like my kind of night, Adrian~ and I’ll definitely consider it but you might have to tell me more before I make any commitments,” he purred daringly, breathily saying the other’s name, before disappearing into the location.

  • Adrian's laugh accompanied him in the doors before it faded. Porcupine indeed. He sat, chin in hand, for another five minutes, then considered following him in after all. It would be a blemish on his record if his partner got caught on their first mission together. Hemming and hawing for another minute, he stretched out his legs and climbed to his feet.

Walking a few steps over, into one of the most glaring blind spots of the entire city, and booted into the library's camera surveillance. Keeping half an eye on the people slipping past him in various directions, he smiled and leaned against one of the lamp posts to watch his porcupine's handiwork. He'd give him another ten minutes before enacting extraction protocol.

  • Felix checked his phone to get the picture of their target. He hummed a little and began his quiet search. If you didn’t know he was going to slaughter someone soon, it’d look like he was just a guy looking for a few books, even if he could barely read without his glasses. Eh, he managed. He just had to glare at the words until they decided to cooperate.

Felix soon found the older gentleman and pulled on a bright smile. He gently tapped his shoulder.

Excuse me, sir, can you help me find a book? It’s for a college paper on biomedical engineering. Just any sort of book on the subject could help,” he explained. What biomedical engineering was he had no idea but it was the first thing that popped into his mind. He followed after the man, humming a little and checking to make sure there was no cameras in sight or witnesses. It would have to be a quiet, clean kill. Neck snapping? That sounded nice. Felix pulled his gloves out of his pocket and slid them on silently before carrying out the deed.

  • Adrian removed himself and all traces of the hack to turn his back on the lamp post and watch the coffee shop across the street. Checking the time again, because looking at the screen once was never enough to remember it, he briefly wondered if the shop was one that remade their coffee on the hour, which would be best for him, or the type to only make another batch after the last was gone.

For lack of anything else to do but wait, he found the coffee shop's google reviews and hummed in appreciation. At least the ones that had commented only had good things to say. Glancing towards the library doors, he waved and asked with a brief, half-smile, "How about coffee to mark the occasion?"

  • He removed himself from the scene and soon exited the library. Felix sighed and checked his piercings over before running a hand through his hair. Well, he didn’t get the biggest adrenaline rush from that. He liked it when he didn’t know if he was going to win or lose, a lot more fun that way. Felix was a huge adrenaline junkie, but that wasn’t the best or safest thing to love. His gaze slid over when he heard the other. The young man thought it over for a moment, studying his features in silence before giving into the offer of getting a coffee together. It was worth a shot, maybe this guy wasn’t as much of a jerk as Felix thought.

Sure, why not,” he shrugged, walking over to the man and watching him for a moment. He still felt short compared to him and he hated it.

  • All clear. Adrian sent the text into the office and turned to the store. This kind of thing, he had to agree with his porcupine of a partner on. It was too easy, something the entry level agents could handle. All because the target's identity was something unusual, it had to pull them out for elementary work like this.

"How do you like it?" Adrian drawled, stalking into the building with an air of ease. The question was one of double entendre, commenting both on their mission detail and the topic of coffee. Though it happened to also triple as the most delightful innuendo.

  • Felix followed after the slightly older man, silently trying to figure out his age. He didn’t look too much older than him. Twenty three? No, that didn’t seem right. Maybe twenty four? If he was twenty four, he was only two year older than him. That wasn’t too bad. At least he wasn’t, like, thirty, then it would be a little awkward. The young continued to follow his partner in silence but looked over when he asked a question.

Mmm, I like flat whites, I like my missions hard and dangerous, and I like my nights long, rough, and hard,” Felix smirked and studied the other man’s features for a reaction to the last answer. “Are those the answers you were looking for, Adrian,” he breathed with an innocent smile on his pierced lips. His gaze soon fluttered away to what was in front of him, just acting innocent of course.

  • Adrian snorted, rolling his eyes. "Hmm, was that what you heard me in my question? Shows where your brain is, Coldsmith." Walking to the counter, he ordered a flat white then his own preference, a black eye. "Say my name like that," he said while returning to Felix, gloved hand snaking out to firmly grip his chin, "and I'll think you want something else." Turning the other man's head, Adrian let him go and patted his cheek, "You're a handsome porcupine, Felix, a little too filthy for my tastes, but I think I might turn out to like you someday."

  • Felix bit back a soft laugh and went to go sit down. He checked his phone, replying to a few messages from a couple friends before noticing Adrian return. He gasped as soon as his chin was gripped, the feeling of gloves holding onto him like that was new and little odd but he didn’t hate the feeling? Felix narrowed his eyes a little as the other turned his hair away and pat his cheek, glaring at the other.

I’m not a porcupine, but I will take the handsome comment,” he explained, watching the man. “And I’m sorry I’m not afraid to state what I like or what’s on my mind,“ Felix apologized sarcastically, looking around for a moment before flicking his attention back to Adrian.

  • "Oh," Adrian said, his expression dramatic, then his face fell flat, "No, I was talking about what you wear, Coldsmith." He sank into a seat across from Felix and once again rested his face in his hand, eyes focused out the store window. "If I cared about people's opinions of me, do you honestly think I'd do what we do?" Turning his black as night gaze on the man across from him, he gave an empty smile, "You can always try harder though, porcupine. I don't mind."

  • Felix blushed faintly as the other was addressing his clothes. “Hey, I like my clothes. As long as they’re mainly black and tight, I couldn’t care. Black hides the blood and tight clothes don’t get snagged easily,” he mumbled. He raised a brow at the question. “And don’t call me Coldsmith, that isn’t my first name,” Felix added a bit angrily. He always preferred people calling him by his first name, he didn’t really like his last name too much because it connected him to family.

I do it because of people’s opinions about me. They won’t fuck with me if they knew what I did. Plus, I never finished high school so this was the best option for me,” the assassin went on, waving his hand dismissively when he stated he never finished his schooling. The glare returned to his features and he scoffed a little, rolling his eyes and run a hand through his hair.

  • Adrian sighed. Such a hoodlum, of course he wouldn't understand the finer things in life. The coffee barista walked over with their mugs and he took his in hand to swirl it. Looking down at it, he cracked a smile. At least his coffee was the way he liked it, blacker than his eyes.

"Then what do you want me to call you?" he asked, managing to sound almost interested. Taking a sip of his drink, Adrian lifted his gaze back to the window and watched the library still. It was always a good practice to know who was the first officer on scene, and when it got reported.

Knowing that his partner was probably, somewhere in there, trying to open up a tad bit, Adrian chuckled. "Good enough of a reason, I suppose. Better than mine, anyway." His expression froze for maybe half a second, his pupils dilating. "We might have trouble on our hands after all, porcupine."

  • Felix kept his glare locked on him, wanting nothing more than to punch him right in the face. He noticed the barista come over and softened his glare a little, saying thank you to the employee before taking the mug. Hey, he still had manners even if he did kill people on occasion. He took a sip. At least he had coffee.

Just call me Felix,” he answered, a bite to his words. People just couldn’t get it through their thick skulls sometimes, could they? Is this what people have become?

Felix was about to speak up and ask what the hell kind of reason he had if his own was better than his but was interrupted when he noticed they may be in trouble. He seriously wanted to punch him for calling him porcupine but they had a different matter on their hands. He followed his gaze and tensed up a little. Oh... that was the trouble Adrian was referring to. Well.. that wasn’t good. Wait, that definitely wasn’t good.

  • Adrian drained his mug of all that remained and stood, a stern resolution coiling around his shoulders. He extended his hand to his partner, "Felix, then, shall we go?" His other hand, he used to direct forward to the appropriate personnel.

Fishing for his wallet, he laid out more than enough on the table and lead the way out of the cafe. Since things were finally getting messy, it was time to find out exactly what their boss was going to say. Checking his phone, he sighed. "Think of the devil," he said under his breath.
