Okay so here is where we will plot for our very own Avatar thread (At least until Gold gets back from wherever they are)
So I can come up with a couple ideas, but I think we could do a roleplay set in Aang's era just without Aang, or maybe an era between that and Korra's era with some minor new technological advancements, but none of the characters from the original show (Unless you'd rather we do) Really it's pretty open at this point.

Sweet! I haven't seen Korra so I'm hoping to stay away from that era (though if everyone wants to go there than that's chill and I can look stuff up) but I also have a couple of ideas for setting to throw out there. We could do it during cannon's time period without cannon characters like you said, have it set in a world where Firelord Ozi successfully used the comet to make the Fire Nation dominant, or maybe during the era when aang was actually born before he ran away and the air nomads were whipped out.
-
What if we did a plotline where The avatar didn't run away from the Air temples, and thusly saved the air nomads as a people, but lost his own life in the attack (Or maybe he lived on for a number of years before dying) and so the new Avatar was born into the Southern water tribe (Which is devoid of water benders) So they need to get out of the south and to the other nations to learn their bending.
There's that idea, or maybe we just do a plot where we have the air nomad avatar who did run away from the air temples and has been slumbering in an iceberg for 100 ood years but it's all different characters.
Another idea would be similar to the other thread, in which several generations of avatars have been reincarnated, but it's 100 years later and nobody's been able to end the war yet. So now it's down to one last avatar who has to do it before Sozen's comet comes for the second time.

I do love alternative plots...
We could also completely avoid the Avatar, while still following the plot. Maybe the Fire Nation managed to kill the Avatar while in the Avatar State, and now it’s up to a ragtag group of benders and nonbenders to restore peace? It keeps the story from being focused on one person, in my opinion.
-
Adventures Idea brings up a good point, in that case the Avatar name would be a group of four Benders.
-
What if, rather than the avatar being dead, they're disappeared, like Aang for the 100 years, and we can have them come into play later on in the rp, or even not at all in character. That way The balance of the world can sort of still stay in check while our team does their own thing. We'd be like Jet's freedom fighters.
Alternatively, what if when the Avatar dies in the avatar state, what if they don't die permanently, what if they split up into the four nations, so we have four characters that have some avatar like abilities, but can only bend one element. That way we can play around with the spirit world and things like that, and we'll be perceived as a threat by the fire nation when they discover what it is that's going on?
Also if we were to do any of these ideas, our benders would have to be super novice benders, and not be good at all at the start, otherwise we have a case of four master benders just sitting around doing nothing cause there's no reason to improve.
-
OMG Montecristo I love that idea! That we we get to spread the love a little bit :) Perhaps all four have been lead to the same place because of visions or dreams sent by their last past life?
-
Oh that's a great idea! And a great way for them all to find each other. I love playing novices; where's the fun in playing someone with nowhere to grow? I, for one, wouldn't mind playing a bender from an 'outcast' or hidden sort of society, such as the Sun Warriors in the Fire Nation or the Foggy Swamp Tribe. It's an interesting way to explain why their power isn't widely known.
If these four were to get together, what would be their goal? Maybe they must train together to unlock full power? Otherwise there's no reason for them all not to split ways and train in their own element, individually.
-
Bumble Bee I love it! I think that the idea works perfectly, I would just like everyone else to give it the okay. As well we'd all have to agree on an age for them to be, because I assume they're all born at the same time. I suggest something younger like 13-15 in range so they can all still be novices at their bending but still be old enough to have crushes, have a little drama, etc.
I think this has a good chance to be a good thread, without being so close to the other that it feels like we're playing two of the same threads.
I think yeah, maybe for the spirit world to be in balance or something they must all train together or something like that, maybe they're at their strongest when they're together.
I call fire bender xD JK JK if someone else really wants it they can have it, but it's either fire or water for me. -
I can do any, I haven’t done Earth in a minute, always thought that’d be pretty cool to bend.
-
I’d really like to play a firebender if I could! Just to distance myself from Tau; I don’t want him to bleed into this thread, or vice versa!
-
Adventure I love the idea of a Sun Warrior!
What if, and this is just an idea, but part of the reason that they don't just go their separate ways is that they are each a bender for an element that they aren't born into? Like the kid from the Water Tribe is actually an Earth bender, the kid from the Air Temple is a Fire bender, the one from the Earth Kingdom is a Water bender, and the one in the Fire Nation is an Air bender or whatever it is we decide. That way, they have to meet and stay together so that they can each help guide each other through the nations they were born into and learn their own element respectively. I'm sure there should probably also be something about them being stronger together, perhaps linked somehow via their spiritual connection, like you guys suggested, but this could be a cool switch of the ordinary.
-
You take fire bender then, I trust you to do the whole, we're the ones at war with everyone, well enough x3 (Plus I have mei in the other thread I'll take the waterbender then, that just means we need our airbender.
Also what age should we make them, I was thinking like I said 13-15 If no one has any protest I can split the difference at fourteen and we have it like that.
I don't know about that one Bumble Bee I may just be being picky but I'm not a huge fan of that thought. Honestly I feel like they would all want to find each other since their connected, or even if they don't the have someone linking them together, keeping them together in a non binding way. BEcause why else would you follow the vision unless you wanted to find these people who are part of you? That's my main thing about it.
-
Actually, Montecristo , I was considering taking a rather naive approach. Especially if my firebender is from the Sun Warriors. A kind of 'wait, we're at war? And my people caused it?' kind of deal. Maybe even a hostile 'they're not MY people' take, since he'd probably view himself as separate from the Fire Nation. Thoughts?
And I'm open to mixing up benders, though I really was enjoying the thought of a Sun Warrior kid. I'm good with whatever, really.
-
Well I mean if you want to go for a sun warrior perspective on it. That’s up to you. I think just do what’s natural for your character. If being defiant and angry is your view. Then that’s your view. I could also see a fire bender who thinks what his people are doing is right would be an interesting take on it. And as they travel with the group the realize all the terrible things the fire nation is doing and realize they have to stop it.
If you all want to mix the benders I guess I can live with it. I’m just not a big fan of that plot tbh. I think it can nullify a lot of good motivations from the characters.
-
I just thought that, since Adventure pointed out that after they are pulled towards once another with the visions/dreams from their past life and the spirits they might want to head home. After all, they are only kids! After finding out something impossible it seems normal to want to run and tell someone or ask for guidance, but if their friends and family were not able to help them master their element they would eventually need to leave or be forced to stay with the group from the get go, plus it could bring about some interesting contradictory emotions for the kids associated with fire bending or the fire nation especially since they are now something that they were taught was inferior (or even extinct, if the air bending kid came from there) or are the very thing that has caused their home nation so much pain. However, I get that it also prevents other plots and character paths from being used, so I understand if you guys don't like the idea.

Uh so hi! Tumble recommended me this thread because I love ATLA and LOK and I was wondering if it was possible for me to join in here?
-
Of course it’s okay for you to join! Hi I’m Monte. X3 scouring the internet for a good fc for inspiration for my character. Who knows.
Do you have any thoughts you’d like to share ? Plot ideas and the like?
I think we’re set on doing the four split. But honestly I’m so indecisive I could change my mind on that. But for now that seems good to me.
-
Hi there Eyes!
-
As of right now? No I actually don’t XD I’m actually cool with what you guys have come up with so far with the whole the avatar died in the avatar state and was kind of separated into the four nations but the four characters but they’re not all avatars and they start having dreams and met up. Though is the airbender position taken?
