  • (Alright! Sounds good. I’ll start it up and you just jump in.)

It all started with a camping trip. Lily was a cream colored cat who enjoyed the luxury of being a kittypet. It was easy living, though she did have a problem with losing her precious claws. Maybe she shouldn’t have clawed up all the soft pillows or messed with the goldfish at home. Lily was just enjoying her life like pets should, but when she was brought on the familys traditional camping trip she did not expect to be forgotten. The morning the humans left they were quite tried and ready to go home, forgetting about the cat in the pet carrier which was set the night before next to a tree.

When Lily awoke she lazily opened her eyes, her belly rumbling for canned food she was used to. She no longer heard the laughter of children or the family that was so loud the night before. Peeping out the cage and meowing, calling out to be fed. But her orange yellow orbs spotted no one around, just the tracks of the camper in mud and a dead fire pit that barely glowed.“ Humans?” She called expectantly. “ Hey you forgot me!” She meowed louder, hoping they would return and apologize profusely to the declawed cat.“ This isn’t funny!” She yowled pawing at the cage door helplessly. Lily huffed and curled to the back of the cage, sniffling.“they’ll be back. They have to.” She murmured to herself quietly.

The day dragged on quietly, nothing but mocking birds and the occasional forest noises. She was hungry. Lily had pawed at the cage once more, groaning. Her ears twitched a bit when she heard footsteps.“Guys?! Is that you?”

  • A wild cat to the core, Reed was the sort of feline to avoid humans all together. However, during the warm season, she would purposely shift her territory to where the the apes would gather to sleep in flimsy, colorful dens and dance around fire. Her reasoning: food. Human trash was quite a treasure in these parts, Reed herself had a particular interest in charred meats. She had been on her own most of her life, only occasionally joining up with other bands of strays. But their affiliations were always precarious at best, with frequent spats over prey and nesting spots driving the shadowy female to go her own way.

Reed picked her way carefully along the forest floor, her paw steps stealthy and silent. Half hidden behind a a tree, she peered around the now abandoned campsite, dark nose twitching as she searched for signs of human activity. All was silent, at least for the moment. Moving at a confident trot she easily made her way around the campfire in search of leftovers, marking tree roots as she went. Reed couldn't help but to feel excited as she spotted something colorful a little ways away, she rushed over for a look-see, her stumpy tail giving a triumphant twitch.

A loud crunch resounded immediately after she had shoved her head into the bag. A sudden voice called out behind her, muffled by the packaging, it nearly scared her out of her pelt. Spraying the crispy snacks everywhere as she flung the bag from her head, Reed automatically went on the offensive. Her black pelt bristled on her arched back as she stalked towards the carrier where the voice had originated. "Whose there?" She hissed through bared teeth.

  • Hearing as it wasn’t a human voice the she cat inched to the back of the carrier that contained her. Swallowing hard she found the courage to speak.“Not a foe. I’m not looking for any trouble here. I just want to be reunited with my humans.” She announced what she wanted. Her ears twitched and her tail swished in anticipation.“They’ll probably be back any minute now, they must have noticed Im gone.” She murmured. Lily felt intimidated by the other cat. Something about the way she talked, and the way she looked.

  • Reed crept closer her posture still quite menacing as she glared into metal bars to get a better look at the cat that had invaded her lands. "Not a foe, huh? If you're on my land, then you definitely are." The she-cat growled, her whiskers brushing against the mesh. But I suppose I can't rightly tell her to go away if she's trapped, here. She thought to herself as her fur finally went back to lying flat, though she no longer felt threatened by the pet, she kept up the act. The tailless she-cat would never understand cats who lived their lives as human toys, Reed herself would never let one of those apes shove her into a box.

"You sure you weren't ditched?" Reed asked, Leaping on top of the carrier to inspect it with growing curiosity. "Did you claw up one of their kits before they dumped you here or something?"

  • Her nose sniffed as she felt the hostility from the other. Lily was not accustomed to such an attitude and did not know how to react. Ears flattening and tail curling around her frame she narrowed her eyes. She felt sensitive about her claws being gone, and vulnerable.“I wouldn’t dream of hurting my humans. They wouldn’t hurt me.” She meowed, trying to remain calm. It was hard to not get emotional.“and another thing, you don’t own this territory- It was properly rented by my humans. So It doesn’t belong to you. Besides, I don’t have the choice of leaving if I wanted to.”

  • Reed couldn't help but let out a snort, she'd met quite a few cats left behind by their humans and they would all say the same thing. "Yeah, sure. And when they don't return you'll starve in that cage." The dark she-cat replied harshly, smacking the side of the crate with one paw. "They might not outright hurt you, but I'd much rather get my head chewed off by a dog, than starve."
At the kittypet's next words, Reed's pelt began fluffing up once again. She didn't understand what "rent" meant, but it still pissed her off all the same. It was well known among strays that humans didn't defend territories from cats, it was like a cat kicking out a bird. Leaping down to face the longhaired she-cat once again, Reed released a low growl. "So, by default that makes it your territory, pet?" Her dark claws slowly slid from their sheaths. "How 'bout we get you out of that box so I can claw off your ears?"

  • Feeling rather threatened the cat stiffened and felt her tail bush up.“This is not my territory. Its more of an unwanted visitation! You misunderstood— I don’t want to fight at all. I just want to go home where I belong!” She exclaimed trying to be reasonable.“Listen. I would definitely like out of this carrier but I do not want to fight at all. If It was my choice I would be far gone.” Lily felt her voice shake a bit. Her eyes were stuck on the black she cat with fear. She took in her others appearance. She was a bit jealous that the cat was...more fit than herself. She was thick coated and slightly plump from her cat food and treats. Lily did notice the scars, and of that she was curious. But cautious none the less.

  • Reed narrowed her amber eyes at the pet for a long moment before giving her pelt a shake and doing a slow circle around the carrier. She rubbed her cheeks on it to give it her scent, scraping her teeth on it as she went. Though the dark she-cat hadn't thought it was possible to bite through it, it was worth a try. "Hey, tell me how get it open." Reed grumbled as she sat down before the cage entrance once again. "I'd rather not have your corpse stinking up the place." Though she hated to admit that she couldn't do something, she didn't have much experience with carriers.

  • Sniffing she inched to the front of the cage. Lily was cautious, she didn’t want to get snagged and hurt by the other ones claws.“There is a latch that I can’t reach on the other side. Just..” she lifted a paw and pressed where the latch was on the otherside.“Pull it down and it should open this up. But- You better not fight me!” She exclaimed.“Just get me out of here.” Lily paused.“please.”

  • Reed picked her way closer once again, nose to nose with the other she-cat on the other side of the bars. The stumpy tailed cat listened carefully to the instructions with her head tilted to one side as she analyzed the metal contraption, though she wouldn't say it out loud, she was definitely impressed with this cat's intelligence.

"Absolutely no promises!" She jested with a wry smirk, as she pawed at the latch. With a loud click, the door flung open, sending Reed leaping back with a hiss. Her body had reacted before her head, as she was expecting it to be much more difficult. "W-Well...there you go..." Reed stuttered, giving her chest fur a few embarrassed licks.

  • Lily was hesitant to go outside the cage, and had to make sure she did not laugh at the other she cat, she never seen someone so startled from a door. When she was ready she quickly left the carrier and sighed.“Thank you. I really appreciate it.” She used her manners. This cat could kill her if she wanted to, now was not the time to slip up and insult her.“I would have starved in there if you haven’t come..uh...whats your name anyway?” Do wild animals have names? I was given mine from my human...maybe she named herself? She thought to herself.

  • (Man every time I started a reply, I got distracted by someone or something. My bad for the extra slowness)

Reed shook out her pelt, letting her original embarrassment fly off into the wind. I was no fault of hers that wasn't used to the sounds of human....junk. As the she-cat stepped out of the cage, Reed's amber gaze became narrow once again as she contemplated flat out chasing the pet off. "Reed." Came her gruff reply. "What kind of outlandish name did your housefolk give to you?" Her stubby tail gave a slight twitch as she went back to scarfing down a few of the chips that had been scattered around.

  • “Lily.” She replied as civil as she could, fur slightly standing on end.“My name Is Lily. It is not that different from yours.” She claimed solemnly. Her cream pelt was slightly ruffled and her stomach growled a bit at the thought of food as she watched the other down a couple human snacks.“Im not sure thats meant for...well Actually...” she trailed off. She wasn’t allowed to eat human food. But maybe it was all just a fib and they were selfish and gave her the same bland pet food. Sniffing she slowly went to the reamins of the camp, her nose touching a chip left behind. Lilys mouth opened and snatched the treat up. It was not bad. Not at all.
