Her name was Faye. She was a princess of a kingdom that was known for having a problem with shape-shifters....outcasted humans from their environment. Her father, the king, ruled these ridiculous laws into order. Fights always broke out, battles....everything. Faye was only 16, yet she witnessed all of the discrimination and tragic events ever since she could remember. Her mother, the queen, couldn’t only don’t by and watch submissively. However, it wasn’t long before Faye was actually kidnapped by a large dragon....at this point she had no clue if it wasn’t anything more than that.

The dragon that took the young princess is the very same her adventure in life will begin with. He is a large, midnight black dragon with brilliant golden eyes. After seeing her alone the way she was. Seriously, why weren’t there tighter security around this girl?! Shaking his head, the male landed in another castle belonging to his family and gently set the girl back down. Although it is a pain to speak in the common language while in his beastly form, he decided to try to communicate with her.
“You’re a strange girl aren’t you? You hardly fought against me during the flight.” He said, staring at her. For now, the dragon named Zyrsu, chose to stay in his dragon form. He just watched her, seeing what the princess would do.
-
Faye glared down the dragon, even though the beast was many times the size of her. “At least I have the courage to fight!” She growled at him, her long brown curls falling into her face at her intensity. Her deep blue eyes showed a set of confidence.
-
“Oh? You mean against the very ‘monsters’ your stupid father calls my people?” He sneered. “The very same people that gets treated as slaves and even worse? The innocent people that can’t help but be born as they are?” Zyrsu huffed, shifting back to his human esqe form. In this form, he largely looked human and yet there were distinct features belonging to a dragon, the two black horns coming out of his head, a scaly tail and sharp eyes.
-
“My father may have made many rash decisions, but he most certainly is not stupid!” She snapped back at him, balling up her fists at her sides. “Your so-called people have been terrorizing us for centuries!”
-
He snarled, walking up to the spoiled princess and smacked her. “We have done nothing but try to peacefully exist with you humans but it is you who terrorize my people. Children here gets stolen from their homes to be sold as slaves or worse. And the ones that did choose to live in your kingdom is discriminated so much they can’t make a living and survive without resorting to thievery. Tell me princess, have you met a shape shifter and tried to get to know them? Or did you avoid them simply because they weren’t human?”
-
She frowned at him, and gasped when he slapped her. She reached up a hand to touch the area, but she soon forgot all about it. “If you lay a hand on me again, I swear you will pay for it! And why would I even want to?! You kidnapped me for Pete’s sake! That clearly shows your true character and intentions already of you creatures!” She spat.
-
“And you’re just a spoiled brat little girl.” He sneered. “I took you because I want your father to understand what it feels like when he loses his daughter. Just like how he personally ordered some of your men to come here and kidnapped my baby sister, barely four years and killed her publicly. I’m sure you remembered seeing a small white dragon calling and begging for her parents only to be met with death.”
Zyrsu turned around and held a hand over his eyes to hide tears beginning to spill out. “She was just a child. My sister never got to grow up because of you humans... unlike your kind, my sickly father and I are not stooping to your level. Yes I took you but you get to live because we don’t kill unless absolutely necessary.”
-
Tears starts swelling up into her eyes as she was about to explode in anger. “You think you’re the only one who has lost someone?! My oldest brother was lost in battle because of you monsters!” She wipes her eyes as well, still glaring at him. She felt a pang of sadness for him over his sister, but that didn’t cover up her own loss. «And because of that....I’ve been training to fight in husband place.”
-
“Kari.” He called out, bringing forth a meek feline shifter maid. “Take the princess to her room and make sure the guards are covering every possible escape route. During her stay here, you will be tending to her needs.”
Her ear twitched as a sign that she understood. “Yes your highness...” she whispered, bowing her head and turned to the human. “If you’ll follow me princess, I shall escort you to your room.”
“And princess, ask yourself one thing.” Zyrsu began, beginning to walk away. “Ask yourself if it’s worth killing innocent children simply because they’re not human. Is it really worth it when you don’t even understand my people’s struggles?”
-
She was about to retort, but she just shook her head. Clearly she was wasting her time with this pathetic being. She turned away from him and walked over to a corner. She wouldn’t let anyone touch her again. She glared at the guards that were attempting to take her away. “Touch me, and I swear you will regret it.” She hissed.
-
Kari swiftly caught the princess, not even afraid to grab her by the shoulder. “Princess, you may be high in the food chain of your people but you’re not in your kingdom. Your status means little right now. The prince could have put you in a dungeon but instead you get to have a proper room. Now if you’ll follow me, I’ll take you there.” She said, unfearingly staring at the young woman.
-
She snorted and reluctantly followed Kari. “My father has already sent our his whole knight guard to find me! You’re all doomed now!” She snarled as she wa sled away.
-
“Assuming he can find this castle.” She said simply. “It’s not marked on any human map. Either way the women and children will have long evacuated.”
-
Faye grumbled, but she didn’t say anything. “Just take me to room...”
-
Kari did just that, leading the princess inside the room set aside for her. “This is where you’ll be staying for now. I will also be staying with you to ensure your needs are taken care of.”
-
(I was thinking they might grow to become friends!)
“I have servants back at home thanks!” She grumbled to her, staring out the window.
-
(That’s why I’ve created Kari. Someone to act as a dear friend before Faye and Zyrsu falls in love)
“They’re not here are they? Unless you want to starve to death, allow me to tend to you. It’s not like I can harm you anyways. I’ve been declawed by humans so it’s tough to fight and survive.” She said nonchalantly.
-
Faye turned back and looked pitifully at Kari. “You were declawed?” She asked, still staying where she was at.
-
Kari nodded. “Yes princess. I’ve been declawed since I was a little girl. The prince is who brought me in and gave me a chance to live.”
