  • BLURRED REFLECTION OF STANDSTILL POND !

He was a good man, but he had a broken heart —

[ooc] gonna post this today instead of the routine Friday just because I'm gonna be pretty busy tomorrow and don't know whether I'll be able to get on

    [ic]

He would not be surprised if, with the determined prolongation of his leadership reign, phantom echoes of the cathedral bell haunted his nights. As he stood alone at the forefront of the lengthy cathedral hall, Standstill had to fight the wince that came with the booming clang of the bell bounced off the stone walls. His back straight and face statuesque, despite the cowering of his ears against his head. Although, he had never started a meeting without the announcement coming from his own booming voice. A voice that had learned volume in the volcanic lands of the ToBE. As the cessation of the ringing cathedral bell onset, Standstill parted his jaws and unleashed his own summoning. "Shadow Veil, gather for a meeting!"

The bell always seemed to ring a foreboding influence across the Veil. A prolonged warning of something to come. In all honesty, amongst everything he had on his mind, Standstill did have something at the forefront that would ignite an inferno. Not something that he would reveal in the meeting- the clutter of everything else would throw everything into disarray. No, that he had mind to announce in a separate gathering. Perhaps tomorrow. Today, he would keep spirits light and ensure morale was high. So it was devoid of the cumbersome thoughts hardening his features that Standstill watched the slow leak in of NPCs.

And bang! A flash of white and there was Geralt, sitting there right up at the front with his intense gaze locked on Standstill. It was perhaps a little creepy considering how fast he liked to be but he was an eager-beaver. But he was not the first, oh no, his dad had beaten him by a margin. Geralt nearly screamed because of it, but he simply wrinkled his nose and held it in. 'You win this round, dad, you win this round.'

  • The bell that rang always made him jolt because he always forgot of its existence. It wasn't something he thought of on a daily basis so when it happened he had to calm himself and remember that it was the Cathedral and nothing more. Rising to his paws the pale and powder blue creature made his way over slowly, eyes upon the ground though he was easily able to see because his vulture was flying up high and scouting out the area upon his movements. He tilted his head a bit as he watched the different npcs come forward from their homes as well and soon he was with them all grouped up in a mass where he sat down and waited to see what this meeting was about.

  • Admittedly, it felt strange to the hellhound that Standstill was up there instead of him. Ringing the bell and calling for a meeting. But he supposed...maybe he had too little experience. Perhaps Standstill would be a better leader than he ever was. And maybe, with him out of leadership, Mingan wouldn't crush him as much--though his injuries, still healing, proved otherwise.

He made his way to the cathedral after the unfamiliar male, taking a seat.

Bulletangel had heard the chime of the bell followed by the call of the meeting. She dropped what she was doing, which really wasn't much, and walked into the cathedral. She took a seat beside a, what seemed to be, slightly distraught Soundcheck. She offered a soft nudge in both greeting and support before turning her attention back to Standstill.

  • ❝ THOSE WHO PICK UP THE SWORD WILL DIE BY THE SWORD ❞ Lyon comes in and sits next to Soundcheck, giving a quick check over that bandages and fresh and nothing is bleeding. She's nervous for his health if she's honest, people that came back like this never really survived. And of course, she'd treated his wounds out of desperation - she was more than worried that she'd accidentally fucked something up. She's not one for public affection, but the hound stays close to her father.

Jitterdoll would approach soon after the call was made. It seemed she had joined just as a meeting was happening, which was impeccable timing on her part. The six month old child would approach the scene of the meeting with curiosity glistening in her captivating amber gaze. The hybrid would lower herself onto the ground around the front, her tails moving to settle beside her and waited for Standstill to go on with the meeting.

  • This was the first meeting she’d shown her face to in a long time. She frowned, wondering where the swell of conflicting emotions was. Wasn’t she supposed to feel some type of way about this?

Either way, the winged charcoal lioness seated herself beside no one in particular and pointed her surf eyes towards Standstill.

  • BLURRED REFLECTION OF STANDSTILL POND !

He was a good man, but he had a broken heart —

He watched as more creatures than the week past filtered in. Scarce but increasing- something that gave him reassurance in his efforts of sustaining his clan. Feeling the bear totem against his chest, a presence that seemed stronger now that he found himself before a crowd once more, the clouded leopard decided to ensue with the meeting.

"There's been new faces around recently, it's nice to have you here (and back for some of you). Welcome to you all: Seraphina; Bulletangel; Pippaw; Grimpaw; Murdoc; Jitterdoll; Montgomery; and Jones." He surveyed the meeting, let down only by the fact that, of the named, the numbers of the crowd did not add up. Evidently, some of those newly named had not made it to the meeting- he hoped for reasons of accommodating rather than absence. "A reminder for Ascension quests- for those of you newcomers or adolescents who want to gain the title. Just give a shout if you're interested." He would refrain from an explanation, it would make meetings that much longer. It was best for the interested to query themselves; repetition was boring after too long.

"I also want to welcome back Soundcheck. I hope your condition's improving." Fortunately, the male hadn't seemed so steamed on his return at the change. He was glad for, despite the unintentional arisen from the reign, he liked Soundcheck. "Regarding Soundcheck's kidnap, our relations with the Thunderlands are immensely frayed so I want everyone to keep a keen eye out." A fair warning to his clanmates who were vigilant as it was. The warning was, in truth, all but a reminder.

"But, onto happier news, I'd like to give shoutouts to Geralt, Argus, Lyonesse, Sta-Redwinter; Bulletangel; and Soundcheck for all of your contributions to the Veil." It perhaps seemed pointless, to compliment their sole interaction and presence but the two were key to a healthy clan. Standstill had certainly learned that fact under his brother's reign when silence had reigned the tribe. "As such, I also want to promote Geralt to Nightwatcher." A rarity, perhaps, for one so young to hold such a significant place in the clan hierarchy yet, Standstill had nothing to fault the pup with. It would be a crime not to lend Geralt a podium. "Under the eye of Redwinter, who I'm also promoting to Nightwatcher." It had taken him a lot of thought but the decision had finally come to ascend the clouded leopard straight for position. He had lent more to the clan in his first few weeks than could compare to many and Standstill had decided that to put Stark through the ranks would only be an insult. "An introduction, too, for our new Spiritcallers Argus and Lyonesse." They had both shown dedication for the role, the past week- promise indeed for them to rise in the ranks, too. It was uplifting to see the potential amongst his clanmates.

Although, there was also the matter of those who had dissipated into inactivity. "Unfortunately, Melinoe and Karasunowing are demoted." Names he was sure the rest of the members could not put a face to. It had been a long while since Standstill had exchanged words with either of them.

"The SunClan and the Cartel positions are also now open, for anyone who wants them. Anyone who's interested, just call out. Reminder for ambassadors to visit their clans." He did not want to have to take the position of any others yet alliances were something he wanted to be strengthened for the Shadow Veil.

  • Soundcheck listened intently. This way, he could get caught up. Ascension quests...what were those? Maybe it would be best to inquire Standstill about what had happened while he was gone. And oh hey, he was given a "welcome back" message. He had no idea that his Clanmates hadn't been too thrilled with Standstill taking up the reigns, but c'mon. Soundcheck was an idiotic pacifist. He was a horrible leader. And now he understood that. It was better to watch someone who seemed more experienced take the reigns than to barge headfirst.

And hey, he got a shoutout too! Things were looking good. Geralt and Redwinter--so that was the other male's name--were Nightwatchers. And- oh. New Spiritcallers. Argus, whom he didn't know, and his daughter! Ohh his heart burst. It burst more than it had ever bursted in his life. Metaphorically speaking, anyway.

Melinoe...and Kara. Both were demoted. It was a shame. Where old rocks crumbled under Standstill's reign, new structures emerged--in the form of new Clanmates holding the ranks. Melinoe, though...she had been a big help. So interesting, too. And Kara...always such spunk and spirit. Soundcheck missed them both, truly.

And ambassador positions. Soundcheck wasn't sure if he wanted to be an ambassador again or not. He hadn't done so hot last time. Still, it was something to consider.

"Thank you, Standstill. And congratulations to all promoted." The hellhound dipped his head respectfully, and attempted to gently nuzzle Lyonesse with his nose, in congratulations. "Especially to you, my daughter. You will make a wonderful medic."

For the sake of participation, Wren would say that this meeting had happened after Toxi joined the Veil. The dark-furred feline sat at the edge of the group, watching intently with sharp green eyes. Mostly boring hubbub that she could tune out, as meetings always seemed to be. She only recognised two of the many names; however, the Ascension sounded interesting enough to gain her attention. She would need to enquire.

"Congratulations," she meowed, a standard reply without much feeling.

Bulletangel's grin faltered slightly, totally expecting some sort of promotion. She then shrugged it off; just meant she would have to try harder for the next meeting! "Congrats everyone!"

  • He listened as his father began to welcome all of the new faces that they had gotten over the past week or so and he gave a light nod. Yes, Shadow Veil had been growing and it didn't seem to be slowing down. He wondered if they should hold a mass meet and greet to get the clan together so that they could actually conversate and get to know one another. After all they were all clanmates and considered family to some degree so they needed to have that bond and that loyalty. He breathed out softly as he waited for more news, Soundcheck coming back and hoping he was doing well. Thunderland relations going down the drain which was nothing new and he frowned a bit before the promotions were spoken of after the Ascension quests were spoke up and he still needed to get around to finding that thing that was bothering the Overgrowth. As he listened on he tilted his head when Geralt was promoted to Nightwatcher at such a young age but that must mean that he had a good head on his shoulders. Although when his father spoke of Geralt being under his watch eye the male almost busted out laughing. Under his blind gaze he supposed but he was mildly shocked that he was suddenly promoted to Nightwatcher as well. Did he deserve such a thing? He wasn't sure but he merely dipped his head and waited for the rest of the news to come forth and the fact that they had Spiritcallers now. There were demotions and ambassador spots opening up and he sighed lightly before finally being able to speak up. "Thank you. Congratulations to those holding positions now."

  • ❝ THOSE WHO PICK UP THE SWORD WILL DIE BY THE SWORD ❞ The meeting starts with welcomes and touches on the frayed relationship with the Thunderlands. Lyon is scared of them, if she's honest. She saw one of them kick on the border, she's saw what they've done to her father and she wants them to just... Go away. War doesn't suit the hound well, but at least they aren't fighting dragons like in Ishgard. She wouldn't go back there for love nor money.

When she's promoted, she can help but smile. She's promoted, Argus is promoted, her father is promoted. Managing to just avoid the nuzzle and just shaking her head with a genuine smile, she thanks her father and voices her own congratulations.

The young wolf choked on a sharp intake of air as he heard that he was promoted. Nightwatcher? That... that assistant deputy?! His mouth hung open as he stared in utter disbelief at Standstill, but did he truly have what it takes to fulfil such a role? Some people were already mocking him over his young age so he imagined that it was only going to get worse. And then there was the training he needed to do... how was he meant to fight those Thunderlanders?

In the end Geralt's satisfaction and pride remained marred by his fears which left him suddenly rather subdued, his snout lowering as he tried to avoid looking at anyone. What was he going to do? And he wasn't looking forward to being placed under Red's tutoring either, guy seemed like a real grump. The pup exhaled and groaned lightly as his stomach began to ache under the weight of his worries.
