  • Ellis was dragged into the throne room forced down on the ground scared about what's going to happen to him. He had been spotted practicing magic in his home and was to be punished for it. He glanced up at the king looking at him with a pleading look. "Your majesty-" he started before the king motioned for him to stop

"You were caught practicing the forbidden acts of magic, the only justifiable punishment is death. You will be made an example of to the kingdom" the king announced

  • Athena heard the guards bring someone in. Usually, she didn't care for this kinda thing. Though, for some reason, she felt drawn to enter the room. She set the book she'd been reading down. She went to exit her study, but felt like she needed to fix her hair. She hummed, fixing it. She shook her head, then headed downstairs.

She could hear her fathers voice from upstairs. They must've been in the throne room. Athena hurried along, hearing the word death. She gulped. He had been caught practicing magic. She knew she wouldn't have much time. She hurried, busting through the doors. "Father stop!" She shouted.

She knew her father wouldn't punish her, so she muttered something, and the guards and her father were pushed back from the man. She frowned. "You only want to ban magic because of mother. Don't even begin to say differently. You can't stand the thought of losing me too, as you lost her." She growled.

She sighed. "It doesn't matter father. I have the same powers as mother. While I do love and respect you as king, and as a father, I can't bear to see you kill this man. I.. will watch him. Let him stay here. He can be a butler, my butler. I.. won't let him practice magic." She was lying, but she was good at it. "He'll be under my watch, while of course tending to my needs. Please father, I beg thee."

  • The king turned to Athena as she entered the room surprised by her outburst. "I told you to never mention your mother" he said simply before she continued on. He glanced over at Ellis still cowering about what his fate would be and while listening to his daughter's new offer for the boy. As much as he'd rather see him be dead, he knew he could trust his daughter's judgment. "Alright, I'll allow you to have this man in your hands, on one condition. You make sure he never practice the magic you have along with keeping him from doing so" he said

Meanwhile guards picked up Ellis and carried him towards Athena was he was still trembling in fear as these two people held his fate in their hand

  • Athena breathed out in relief. Thank goodness. She looked to Ellis, straightening her posture. She bit her lip. "Your name, sir?" She smiled. "Come, I'll escort you to your quarters." She smiled, turning. She began walking out. Though, she walked to her study instead. She hummed, allowing the man inside. She shut the door. She gestured to the seat, before sitting in her own.

She giggled. "My! You got yourself in quite the jam!" She sighed, with a smile on her face. "You know, I don't get to meet many with magic abilities, much like myself." She leaned forward. "So! Terms.. You be my butler, and you.. teach me what you know. In secret of course. I am the princess, I know my way around the kingdom. I know who will be where, and when. So! We can practice, together. Deal?"

  • "E-ellis your majesty" Ellis muttered. He followed after her into her study and sat down in the seat she gestured to. He felt nervous about what she planned to do with him, but listened to her. He was surprised though what she was asking of him. "You want me to be your mentor?...If you're allowing me to still practice my magic, I'll agree to it, but you'd better make sure that I don't get caught by your father"

  • Athena nodded. "Of course. I know better than to let you get caught. My father.. doesn't even realize I have magic in me. Just like my mother." She shrugged. "Listen, Ellis. Trust me." She chuckled. She hummed. "Can I get you something to drink? Also! Let's get you cleaned up!" She rang for her maids, ordering them to tend to Ellis.

After, she had him returned to the study. She smiled. "My my.. don't you look dashing." She chuckled. "So! Ellis, my new butler..." She sat up more. "Do you want a tour of the castle?"

  • Ellis was led off to change and was now made to look like someone who belonged in the palace. He glanced down at the outfit feeling strange in it. "Do you mind if I have my cloak when we do our lessons? It helps me focus on my magic better" he explained

"A tour would be helpful since I'm to work here until further notice"

  • "Can the cloak be.. easily removed? In case.. someone were to spot us?" She shrugged. "Eh.. whatever." She smiled. She stood. "A tour you shall be granted." She began walking around the entire palace. It would probably take them a couple hours. She explained what every room was, and how to remember it.

"And finally.. we have my room." She opened the door, walking in, taking a seat on her rather large bed. "You'll come in here every morning.. wake me up. I expect hot tea when I wake, I like earl grey with a hint of extra sugar. Ask anyone in the kitchen how to make it the way I like, they'll tell you." She smiled. "Then, you'll read my list of things to do for the day, then send in my maid to help me dress, since you're a male.. I don't expect you to help with that.." She smiled. She stepped down from her bed. "Any questions..?"

  • "It can, it's just a simple hood that I remove" Ellis explained. He followed after her taking note of every room in the castle trying to remember what every room was for.

He listened to Athena explain his duties and just simply nodded to that. "Questions? I have two of them. One, where do I go to sleep? And...why did you choose to save me? I broke the law after all" he reminded

  • "Ahh! Yes, Servant quarters was next on my list. We will go there in a moment." She smiled. "I'm not really sure. I felt drawn to you.. for some reason. I don't usually care for my father's doings.. but something told me.. to come down. And thats when I heard the charges.. My mother.. is the reason magic is banned. She was killed by another person.. with magic. So.. to avoid the same fate happening to me, as I am the only offspring.. He banned it. But.. what he doesn't know is.. I have magic in me, as I said before." She sighed. "Anyway, let's go." She began walking again, after fixing a picture of her mother on a stand, now walking towards servants quarters.

  • Ellis listened to her explain the story of the ban of magic being the aftermath of the king losing his wife. He frowned a little hearing about the loss. "I take it the magic comes from your mother then. Your father seems to hate magic with a burning passion that he would never try to use it" he said softly as they entered the servants quarters. Strangely enough, it was better than his old home.

  • Athena nodded. “You would be right about that. My father doesn’t have magic in him. I get it from my mother, as you said.” She showed him the servants quarters. “I see you like it.” She smiled. “Anyway, I’m going to my study. Madeline will help you get the swing of things.” She waved him off and walked to her studying

  • Athena shrugged. “Whenever I call for you, or if it’s time for dinner. Whichever comes first.” She hummed and walked away. She sat her study, humming a tune. She began reading through the book she wasn’t reading earlier. She leaned back, though she wanted some tea after an hour. She rang a bell, calling for Ellis.

  • Ellis nodded. He reminded with the woman Athena mentioned learning about how working as a servant would work when he heard her bell ring. He headed off to the study. "What do you ask for?"
