Blackstar lied in front of the small cave that acted as his den. He let his sore muscles soak in the warmth of the sinking sun. The past days had been tiring, and much blood had been spilled to secure their place in this land. Since becoming deputy of FireClan, there had always been unrest in the territory. They'd been fighting for as long as he could remember, but this time they seemed to have gotten a message across. He hoped that there would be time for them to settle, for some of the warriors to start families and actually feel like they belonged in this place. They were stronger than they had been in a long time and while they were a little short on apprentices, their warriors were strong and determined to protect their home. As long as they kept heart, their territory would remain theirs. He closed his eyes and let out a relaxing sigh, getting comfortable in the sun as the sounds of his fellow clansmates moving throughout the camp hummed against his ear fur.

    --

Snowstream pushed her way back into camp through the twisted branches that made up the entrance, freshkill hanging from her mouth. Despite her light-colored coat, she was a skilled hunter among the other warriors. Since she was a kit, she had put extra effort into proving herself. Her father had taught her much before he'd been taken away from her and she used it in every action she made. She learned to hide herself in plain sight, using the light and her surroundings to camouflage her fur. As a result, she was able to put down two good-sized mice and a chaffinch onto the freshkill pile before giving herself a good stretch, showing off her attractive pelt as the evening sun reflected off of it. After a long day out, she was a bit tired, but now was the time for sharing tongues and catching up with her fellow warriors. A patrol would be going out later, since they were going out twice as much as usual, and she wanted to be prepared to join it if she was needed. With one more stretch, she wandered over to a warm patch of ground to begin grooming herself.

After a long day of training, Swiftpaw was beat. She had tried her best to fight like a warrior, but her small size made it difficult to keep up and to keep from getting overpowered. She was trying to use her wits, but it was hard when the other cats around her were witty as well. Glumly she made her way over to the freshkill pile, she grabbed a small mouse between her teeth before finding a place to make herself comfortable while she ate. Once she was lying down in the shade, she began eating her mouse near the apprentices' den, Unfortunately, the mouse didn't make her feel better after the day she'd had and she ended up just resting her head on her paws and sighing, staring at the rest of the mouse she'd yet to finish.

  • ♚ Stoneheart ♚

Stoneheart padded out of the warriors den and over to Blackstar. She walked with a slight limp on her right from leg, which had been torn apart my the rouges. Two against her. They never fought fair. "How are you feeling today, Blackstar"

    ♚ Mooneyes ♚

The she-cat entered the camp with a grunt. Her mouth held two birds and a squirrel by the tail. She'd gotten adventurous today and tried hunting in the tree tops. Luckily, she was successful. She tossed the prey on the fresh-kill pile and walked to the warriors den. She'd been up all night watching the camp. Then all day training her apprentice before taking a quick hunting trip. She just needed a quick nap.

    ♚ Robinpaw ♚

Robinpaw sat at the entrance to the Apprentice den, looking for his mentor.

  • Longear had long been up, checking on his sleeping clanmates to ensure he had lost none during the night. He had barely slept, but his exhaustion was nearly invisible as he scurried about, before going on to check cats whom were awake. He made his way to Stoneheart, knowing her injuries were more severe than most. His steps were quick as he approached, his fur still a mess, wildly pointed in every direction. "Good morning Stoneheart. How are your wounds? I'll need to redress them by Moonhigh. Good morning Blackstar" his words we rushed, practically mixing into a big blob as he sniffed the she-cat carefully. Times like these always turned him into a fumbling mess.

    Interaction: Stoneheart, Blackstar

Shadownose was laying on her side, trying to warm her bones. A long claw mark ran up her side, but had clearly already been addressed by the frantic medicine cat. Her eyes were closed as she rested, her pelts rising and falling as she lightly snoozed.

  • ♚ Stoneheart ♚

"I'm fine. I'm fine." She insisted to the medicine cat. "Go look for more injured. I don't think Shadownose has been checked and I believe she was injured. I'll come find you by Sunhigh."

Robinpaw spotted his mentor and walked over. When he saw her wound he gave it a light sniff. "I think you should see the medicine cat."

  • "Oh I checked her alright. She tried sneaking out to hunt this morning before I caught her. She got an earful from me" he told the she-cat, a grimace on his face from the morning annoyance. "Are you okay Blackstar? I don't remember checking you" he told his leader, lightly sniffing him as well.

  • Vixenstripe

The she-cat had been sunning herself at the edge of camp, her ginger body sprawled out on a flat rock before the voices of her clanmates brought her back to reality. The camp had been in a lull for the evening, while many cats rested up from the day or went out on their individual hunts. Pricking her ears, the deputy lifted her head, scanning the area for her clanmates before heaving a sigh. The ginger tabby climbed to her paws and hopped off of the elevated surface, making her way to the fresh-kill pile to examine it. Vixenstripe gave her leader a nod as she passed by and within a few more strides she had reached the pile of carcasses.

She nodded in acknowledgment at Mooneyes' and Snowstream's impressive catches. The prey they brought back would feed a good pawful of cats, keeping up everyone's strength as they healed. As she poked around the pile, she noted that it had been pleasantly well-stocked for the day and decided no further hunting patrols would be necessary until the next day. After all, dusk was approaching, and she needed to get a border patrol out. With the recent attack, they couldn't be too cautious. Vixenstripe lifted her head and scanned the camp, searching for those who seemed to be in the best shape. Unfortunately, nobody seemed to perfectly fit the description of "healthy and well." Even she had left the battle with a number of minor wounds and a wrenched claw.

    Stonepaw

After resting in the medicine den for what felt like forever, the young tom decided he was finally going to get up and socialize with his clanmates. Being cooped up in the isolated space with only Longear and Forestpaw to talk to took its toll on the extroverted tom and he ached for more interaction. The gray tabby glanced at his shoulder, pursing his lips in distaste. He had taken an unlucky hit during the battle, becoming the scrap of meat that two of the rogues had been seeming to fight over. While a larger cat had him pinned to the ground, a second rogue had wrenched his foreleg, ultimately dislocating his shoulder. After a pawful of poppy seeds, Longear was able to pop it back into place while Stonepaw was caught in a sleepy daze and had ordered the tom to rest for a couple of days. With the second day finished with, he decided he was free to go.

Climbing to his paws, Stonepaw limped out of the medicine den, favoring his right foreleg heavily. He spotted his mentor return from a hunting trip and flattened his ears, wishing he could have attended. Tomorrow, though, he would be better. All his shoulder needed was a bit of rest, that's all. Spotting Swiftpaw looking rather gloomy by the apprentice's den, the gray tom tilted his head and made his way over at an odd hobble. "Hey Swiftpaw, why the long face?" He questioned, coming to sit in front of the small black and white she-cat.

  • Lightningfang lay by himself, munching on the body of a squirrel. His golden yellow eyes scanned the area for his other clanmates. He noticed the medicine cat busy checking up on everyone. Luckily Lightningfang’s injuries were minor and didn’t need too much upkeep. His gaze then fell on a rather sad looking Swiftpaw. He finished his meal and padded over to her, just in time to hear Stonepaw ask what was wrong. The lengthy white tom sat down and glently flicked her ear with one paw.

“Yeah, that mouse isn’t going to eat itself,” He grinned.

  • ♚ Stoneheart ♚

Stoneheart chuckled at the medicine cats words. She knew he would never let a cat go unchecked. She lay down, curling her hurt paw against her chest.

    ♚ Mooneyes ♚

Mooneyes woke up and shook the remaining sleep from her head. It hasn't been a long nap, but it was enough for her to make it til nightfall without falling over.

Walking out of the warriors den, she looked around before spotting Vixenstipe. She padded over. "Hello, Vixenstipe. I was wondering if I could join the next patrol my apprentice can come, as well."

  • Forestpaw

The medicine cat apprentice stirred and awoke in her nest. Ah, did I oversleep? she thought to herself as she got up out of her nest. Forestpaw padded out of the medicine cat den. Noticing the sad look on Swiftpaw, she slowly stalked over to her and the other cats she was with. She listened, waiting to see if she could offer some comfort.

    Mintfern

Mintfern still was asleep in her nest. She had woken up rather early previously, and she went to sleep late. The gray and white she-cat slumbered, her dreams filled with hunting in a nice meadow full of flowers.

  • Mousetail let out a long and dramatic sigh, hoping someone would hear it. She had been stuck at camp since the battle due to a nasty wound on her hind leg, but now it was healed enough to walk on. The small brown shecat was feeling antsy as ever, but half of her clanmates were still at rest. She overheard talk of a patrol and wanted so badly to go, but she was unsure Vixenstripe would find her fit enough. So she sat there, impatiently kneading the dirt with her claws.

  • The large black tom opened his eyes and purred warmly as Stoneheart made her way over to him. Slowly, he sat himself up, wincing slightly at the move. "Good evening, Stoneheart," he said kindly. "I'm doing well... Just a little scratched up from the fight, but I'm okay." He gave her a quick once-over before tilting his head at her. "What about you? You fought pretty hard in the battle... Did you get out unscathed?" He knew many of his fellow clansmates had suffered some pretty bad injuries, but he was hoping once things got back to normal, they'd all be stronger for it.

Suddenly, Blackstar's ears twitched as the old medicine cat, Longear approached to check on him and Stoneheart. Straightening himself up, Blackstar ran his tongue over his chest a couple times to flatten the fur there before the medicine cat arrived. "Thank you, Longear, but there are others who need you more than I do right now. You can return when everyone else has been taken care of." He nodded his thanks to the hard-working cat before casting his gaze out over his clan. They'd fought hard and he was proud to be a part of them.

    --

Swiftpaw looked up as Stonepaw approached her. She flattened her ears awkwardly as Lightningfang joined as well. Forcing herself to sit up, she showed off the long scratch that tore down her side and wrapped under her belly. She'd been lucky, but one cat had grabbed her scruff and tried to flee camp with her, thinking she was a kit. It had been a bit humiliating, if not terrifying. Casting her fierce green eyes at her paws, she hesitated. "I... I was just thinking. About the battle the other day, I mean. I don't know, I just... I wasn't very much help and I can't really seem to get the hang of battle training." If it were just Stonepaw, she wouldn't feel as bad about complaining, but with a full fledged warrior listening to her, she felt bad.

"Like I said, it's no big deal... Just me overthinking things is all..." She looked up at LIghtningfang, trying not to seem like a spoiled kit. There were so many others who had it a lot worse through the fight, but here she was. Stonepaw hadn't even been able to attend warrior training because of his leg and considering that limp, Swiftpaw doubted he'd be getting out of camp any time soon. Now she felt even worse for complaining. As if to make a point that she was fine, she leaned down and took another big bite of her mouse, swallowing it even though her stomach clenched at the attempt.

    --

Snowstream watched as her apprentice limped out of the medicine cat den. She was relieved to see him moving around again. After the battle, she had been concerned he wouldn't make it. Luckily, the issue had looked worse than it was, though it certainly wouldn't be a fun recovery for the young tom. Regardless, he was up and out of his nest, so that was an improvement. She would have gone over to check on him, but he made a bee line towards Swiftpaw so she figured she would leave them be for now.

Instead of getting up and moving elsewhere, the pretty warrior simply sat up and groomed herself. She licked the fur on her chest, flattening it before licking her paw and drawing it over her ears. Suddenly she wanted more than anything to get out of camp again. She wanted to be helping... doing something other than sitting around, but since she'd just gotten back, she knew she needed rest before she tried to get out again. Regardless, when she saw Vixenstripe looking around for cats to join a patrol, no doubt, she got to her feet and padded over to the she-cat. "Need some help?" she asked, her ears twitching with an itch to get out.

  • ♚ Stoneheart ♚

Stoneheart showed the leader her paw, which was torn open in multiple spots from the rouges who decided to use it as a kitty pet chew toy. "Just a small wound. I'll be running around again soon." She largely downplayed the severity of her wound, like always.

    ♚ Mooneyes ♚

Mooneyes dipped her head in greeting to Snowstream as she approached.

    ♚ Robinpaw ♚

Robinpaw decided food was a good idea when his stomach made noise. He padded over to the fresh-kill pile, moving around the warriors and the deputy that we're standing there. He grabbed the first thing he saw, a mouse, and ran off to find a sunny spot.

  • Vixenstripe

The ginger tabby watched as Mooneyes approached her and gave the she-cat a grateful dip of her head. "That would be great, Mooneyes. Thank you." She lifted her eyes to see over her clanmate's head, noticing Snowstream also approaching and wanting to help. The deputy's whiskers twitched in amusement, admiring the two younger warriors' desire to help. "Both of you just returned from hunting, you sure you want to head back out?" Now, she just needed one more cat. Vixenstripe would have gone herself, but to be perfectly honest, she was exhausted from patrolling earlier that day and her healing claw ached. She knew they were capable warriors, but given their exceptionally young ages, she would prefer a more experienced cat to lead them, in case of any traces of the rogues.

"Shadownose!" The deputy called to the she-cat, flicking her tail. "Would you mind leading this final border patrol?" She knew the warrior had received a nasty wound in the battle, but she was one of the more able cats at the moment. Casting a look at the apprentices, she flattened her ears in sympathy and looked back at the patrol. "Why don't you all leave your apprentices this time around. They must be beat after these last few days. Keep a sharp eye out, report any funny business you may notice. And most of all, be careful, and be back before nightfall," Vixenstripe spoke the last few words gently, her eyes softening. She didn't want the cats to overwork themselves. They needed rest, and the sun was sinking fast. It would be a quick patrol, she hoped.

    Stonepaw

The large gray tom tilted his head, taking a seat by the she-cat. He looked at Lightningfang, then at Forestpaw as they approached, hoping it would make Swiftpaw feel loved by her clanmates. Noticing the rather nervous look she gave, however, he realized it may have overwhelmed her. He bent down to sniff at the long wound that wrapped around her abdomen and tried to cheer her up, giving the small she-cat a grin. "Hey, that's gonna scar up nicely! When you're a warrior, kits will want to hear stories of how you got it, and you'll get to tell them how you fought in the great battle with the rogues!" Stonepaw got to his paws and instinctively dropped into a playful crouch, wiggling his haunches. It looked a bit odd, seeing as he was keeping most of the weight off of his injured leg. Still, he straightened himself and puffed out his chest. "I can help you with battle training! A little extra practice can't hurt," He offered to the younger apprentice, waving his tail in the air.

  • Lightningfang furrowed his brow as he listened to the young apprentice. The injury inflicted on her seemed to have taken a toll not only her physical form, but her confidence as well.

“You were plenty of help,” He assured. “Every warrior has their bad day out on the battle field, so don’t be too hard on yourself.”

Stonepaw was quick to try and change the subject, so Lightningfang decided to leave the situation to the apprentice. He dipped his head in farewell and padded towards the center of camp. Perhaps he would go on a walk today, seeing as how the freshkill pile was full and the border patrol was already about to leave.

  • Forestpaw

Forestpaw nodded at the other cats. "They're right. You shouldn't be so down on yourself. You're still learning." The medicine cat apprentice remembered back to her first few moons of learning herbs. While she didn't know how to properly maintain them or which was which at first, she had learned from her mentor, Longear, and the experiences she had. "You did the best you could, and that's all the Clan is asking for."

    Mintfern

    n/a

  • Swiftpaw was relieved when Lightningfang padded away, but she still felt like dirt. Staring down at the half eaten mouse at her feet, she sighed. "All they ask is that I try my best, but what if my best isn't enough and someone gets hurt or killed because of me? The stupid rogues thought I was a kit. I'm not big enough to fight and it's hard to be clever when everyone else is just as smart." She looked at her paws in frustration. "Why do I have to be so small?" She frowned again before batting her mouse to the side and shaking her head.

Looking at her side, she listened to what Stonepaw said. "I don't know about that... But... I guess... when you're feeling better..." Standing up slowly, she forced herself in a crouch, trying to get herself in a better mood. She still wasn't really feeling great, but with her friends trying to cheer her up, it was hard not to feel a little better, at least. With an amused grin on her face, she playfully swatted at her friend, careful not to actually hit him. "Thanks, you guys..." she said softly, straightening up and purring at her friends. She still had a long way to go in terms of training and confidence, but with friends like Stonepaw and Forestpaw, she had a feeling she would be okay.

    --

Snowstream dipped her head a bit impatiently. "I'm certainly ready to get back out into the forest. I ate and rested a bit and my injuries aren't bad. I want to help." There was a heavy determination in her voice, a fierce desire to protect her Clan and prove herself at the same time. Besides all that, she wasn't really tired or hungry and there were plenty of cats in the clan right now that really needed the night off. Afraid she'd start pacing if they waited much longer, the pretty grey she-cat sat down and wrapped her tail over her forepaws, giving off the appearance of patience.

As they waited, Snowstream acknowledged Mooneyes with a nod of her own head. (Sorry I missed it before! I'm blind!) She closed her eyes for a moment and breathed in the scents of the night. Mostly, here, all she could smell were the smells of her fellow clanmates. Of course, if she focused, she could smell and hear past their camp. She could taste the scent of the pine trees that surrounded their camp and she could hear the sounds of prey coming alive at night. If she hadn't been ready to get back out into the peacefulness of the forest, she sure was now.

  • Shadowfur dropped the three mice he caught onto the freshkill pile. Looking around and seeing neither head nor tail of Silverbrook, he made his way over to the queens den. Once inside, he found Silverbrook sleeping on her side. Placing a paw on her large belly, he felt movement inside. He nuzzled Silverbrook awake and sat beside her. "Are you hungry?" he asked. "Just a mouse would be fine." she replied. "How did the hunting go?" "It went well." Shadowfur replied. He nuzzled his mate and went out to the freshkill pile to retrieve a mouse.

  • Forestpaw

"You're welcome," Forestpaw meowed. "Let me know if you need to vent or talk to someone." The brown she-cat padded towards the fresh-kill pile and got a mouse. After she ate, she would find her mentor and see if he needed her to check up on anyone. It had been a few moons since she last doubted herself as a medicine cat apprentice, but she still knew how Swiftpaw felt. She wished there was more she could say to help her feel better, but for now, she had said what she could.

    Mintfern

(Mintfern continues to hit snooze on her alarm clock)

  • Barkfeather - 40 moons - Warrior - No apprentice - Interacting: Open

The silver tom remained curled up tightly in his nest, his entire body aching and sore. He was certain that if he tried to get up he would only collapse again, so he didn't bother trying. He watched the activity in the camp through narrowed eyes, his head resting gently on his paws. He heaved a soft sigh and closed his eyes, pricking his ears as he listened to the bustling activity in the camp.

    Icepaw - 8 moons - Apprentice - Mentor: Mintfern - Interacting: open

Icepaw wearily trudged out of the apprentice's den with a large yawn. She sat down, curling her large fluffy tail around her paws as she watched her clanmates interact with each other. She couldn't spot her mentor, and guessed she must still be resting in the warrior's den. Icepaw sighed softly and shuffled her paws in the dirt, bored and unsure of what to do next.

  • Mousetail finally had enough and decided to go wake up Mintfern. She didn’t care if the shecat wouldn’t appreciate it.

    “Mintferrrrnnn,” She wined.

Her small paws prodded the other shecat’s belly.

    “Please wake up? I’m bored!”
