  • He’d grabbed her hand as gently as he could and pulled her up to him. Je wasn’t very strong but was just enough to be able to haul her up until she could stable herself on the branch. As he let go he heard the stranger from before chime in, dropping his bag of fireflakes on the ground as soon as he comprehended his words. “I-It’s nothing like that!” He said trying to explain himself his normally pale face flushing with color. After a few seconds he noticed his fireflakes sitting tipped over on the ground. He stared down at them dissapointed but snickered as a thought crossed his mind distracting him from his previous embarrassment. “Well, Atleast I didn’t drop you.” He glanced back towards Ming smiling sheepishly at her.

Misao’s confidence faded a bit as he drew closer, she didn’t back up though considering her back was to a wall. Wouldn’t be a much more favorable position. “The high life huh? Hope that’s been treating you well, you don’t get lonely do you?” She paused for a moment as he asked about her, taken aback for a moment before her signature smirk returned. “Oh, How forward.” She stated before brushing a piece of her air out of her face. “Ahaha well can’t you tell your basically staring at a goddess, that’s about all you need to know. But if we want to be more formal you can call me ‘Misao’.” She chuckles before finally deciding for him to return to favor. “Hmm and I’m guessing you have a name, just can’t recall it right now. Or do you just want me to call you ‘mysterious stranger’?”

(OCC - GN! Gonna head off myself. Should be awake around 9 AM)

  • The moment Ming made onto the branch it took everything in her willpower to not look down. If she looked down she would have definitely lost her balance and fall. She was not very good at heights (due to lack of experience). She held on to Dorje's hand until she was able to stable herself a bit better. Once she had gained her balance she smiled in thanks at the airbender. The voice of another male caught her off guard though, causing her to lose her balance a bit. She leaned on the tree trunk, using it for support. The words the boy said didn't bother her. It was his tone and obviously fake smile. Ming knew that smile too well. It was the type of smile her sister would make when she wanted to get away from someone who was talking to her. Not very good at first impressions huh?Ming frowned as she observed the strange boy. She didn't notice Dorje blushing profusely next to her. Before the boy made his way completely down the tree she called to him. "Hey! Why don't you join us? The more the merrier!" She smiled at him, hoping that he got the hint that she was not annoyed by his presence even though he was a little rude at first.

  • "Phoenix huh?" Iyashi nodded, "Yeah that suits you. That's a pretty cool skill, I haven't heard of bird shaped flames before. You're teacher must have been quite the fire bender!" Iyashi enthused. Azura was strange, Iyashi could tell there were certain aspects of herself that she was holding back, but she wasn't sure what, nor why. "I don't know about that. I think you would the avatar a run for their money. The avatar certainly can't make phoenixes out of their flames." she assured Azura. This was her favorite thing about the cloak, interacting with people without them fearing her reaction to their words made it much easier to actually get to know them.

Jian snapped his fingers, the name instantly creating a link in his brain, "Ah of course! I remember you now. You were quite the warrior if my memory serves me well." Not that he would admit it, but Jian had always admired Misao, she was a hard worker and it had paid off for her. "I don't know, mysterious stranger has a good ring to it, doesn't it?" He chuckled, "but if you must know my name is Jian."

  • Azura felt herself become embarrassed at her praises. "Truely, I'm not that good. I just know a few circus tricks that make the kids happy." She shifted her weight from foot to foot, looking down. At that moment, her stomach decided to growl. She hadn't eaten since she got here. "Would you like to walk with me to buy some noodles? Or a fire cake?" She wasn't big on the firecake, but it would've been rude not to ask.

Kyung looked up when he heard the girl talk, freezing him in his tracks. "U-um okay. Sure." He looked down again and noticed the Airbender had dropped his snack. "One moment." He jumped the rest of the way and picked up the bag, leaving the fire flakes that had fallen out. Kyung put the bag in his pocket before climbing back up onto the branch he had been on. "Here." He handed over the bag of food.

  • Normally Hasumi would have come up with an excuse just to scurry away from people that tried to talk to her but something about the little girl made her relax a bit. The girl's exited attitude reminded her a lot of Ming when they were younger. Ming was not any different now but it was a lot cuter when they were 5 or 6, and this girl seemed to be at around that age. It also helped that the girl kept complimenting her every three seconds. Hasumi had to admit that she was a bit flattered. Unfortunately, the girl was not alone because a boy around Hasumi's age appeared behind her trying to get her to calm down. Definitely from the Earth Kingdom. She thought, acknowledging their green clothing. The boy suddenly introduced himself and his sister, interrupting her thoughts. Her dark purple eyes briefly met his green eyes before flicking back to the little girl. She quickly swallowed her insecurities before smiling back at the two of them. A light blush still remained on her cheeks. She bent down a bit to become eye-level with Lin. "It is very nice to meet you, Lin. My name is Hasumi and I too think you are very pretty."

Lin's eyes went wide as she received the compliment, her mouth widening into a smile that was missing one or two teeth, just because she was at that age where she was loosing her baby teeth. "Did you hear that?! She thinks I'm pretty too!" Lin shouted looking up at Jin who chuckled with a slight bit of delight. It was nice to see his sister in such a happy go lucky mood. It was a refreshing time.

Jin didn't say a word, letting his sister do most of the talking, afterall it seemed like the two of them were hitting it off pretty well without him. "You're from the water tribe, right?" Lin said, looking stary eyed into the purple eyes of the other girl. "Does that mean you get to be around penguins alot? What about polar bear dogs - or - or turtle seals?" lin loved animals, and she was trying to think of all the ones that she could that would live around the north or south pole. "I bet you've seen lots of them! And- And you can probably ride them, right?" She giggled and then wondered something else. Her severn year old mind not able to stay on one topic for too long.
"Are you a bender? Cause that would be like, really cool! and I bet you're super good at it. My brother's a bender too, but he's an earth bender. So's Ming, and Fei, and Mei. They're my sisters. I'm not a bender but that would be so cool if I could-" She took and earthbending stance that she had obviously copied from one of her bending sisters or her brother and pretended to bend, going through the basic motions. "I bet you're really good though."

  • "I am from the Water Tribe and we do have a lot of seal penguins..." Hasumi tried to respond to each of the young girl's questions but she was asking them so quickly that it was hard to keep up. She glanced at Jin, giving him a look that said "I can relate". Lin's question about waterbending brought Hasumi's attention back to her. The girl suddenly began mimicking various earthbending stances, and Hasumi couldn't help but chuckle as she watched her little performance. "I do happen to be a waterbender." She said as she straightened herself up and crossed her arms. She was about to mention that she was a master but decided against it. Hasumi! Are you stupid? You don't know these people. Why are you allowing yourself to open up? She immediately began to regret telling them that she was a waterbender. She and Ming were supposed to be keeping a low-profile and here she is telling this random little girl about herself. Lin's comment about her being really good brought her back to reality. "I haven't really practiced in a while so I am kind of rusty..." She said with a sheepish smile.

OOC: I shall introduce the situation that will bring all of our characters together in my next Ming post.

  • Dorje beamed at the male as he handed back his fireflakes almost completely disregarding the fact that they hadn’t gotten off to a good start. He grinned before saying a earnest “thank you so much!” He was tempted to shake the others hand but decided not to. “Guess it was rude to climb up here without asking you first huh.”

Misao looked as she made a grand revelation “I knew it started with a J. Jian It’s been forever!” She said ecstatically a bit to loud as she got a few stares from people passing. And a signature death glare from her guarding partner who was doing her best to ignore them. She really didn’t understand why he never did return but it would be way to awkward to interrogate him about it. She didn’t know him that personally anyway. “And quite the warrior, I’m offended” she moved her hand around airly “I’m the absolute best.”

  • Iya didn't believe the woman, those weren't simple party tricks. Blue flame was not something you mastered to entertain small children with, but she was willing to drop the topic for now. "Sure, I can always go for some food. Doesn't make sense to not take advantage of all the food stands during the festival!" She exclaimed. Iya reached up and tugged at her hood again, a persistent habit she had developed. "I actually know a really good noodle vendor if you want to try it? He might give us a discount." She continued.

Jian shook his head and laughed. "I'm surprised you actually remember me. I don't think we interacted that much, you just always looked like you knew what you were doing, so I tried to follow your example," Jian teased. "If you're the best of the best, then I suppose a big plan is in motion to attack the festival, and you've been planted here to stop the whole thing?" He joked.

  • Azura pulled her mask forward, wiping the sweat from her face without revealing it. At the mention of noodles at a discount, she smiled. "I'd love to try some of those noodles." She held her elbow out in a dramatic gesture. "Shall we?"

Kyung shrugged. "Honestly I didn't even realize you two were below me. I was busy watching the fire bender." He chuckled. "By the way, your face is the color of a cherry."

  • Dorje couldn’t help but hide his face at that, honestly it felt as if his face was just set on fire. He’d actual appreciate if someone set him on fire to save him from this embarrassment. He waited for a moment before looking back up, his cheeks still rosy “it was a real show, wished she continued.” He said to the strangers previous statement “Just wish I thought about climbing up to get a closer look earlier. I really messed up.” He said casually. His legs swinging anxiously below the branch.

Misao shrugs “Well it’s kinda hard to forget about the only guy in the training rooms. Your quite memorable.” She laughs “Hmm but honestly I regret never talking to you that much. Youuuu really missed out.” She said slyly. She had been much more busy back in those days. Very into her job, she didn’t have time to spare especially with the riots happening. She glances around now that the thought of that came to mind. Nope, just people hustling and bustling and enjoying the festivities. Like the calm before the storm. “Yep absolutely. Maybe someone’s going to hustle that entire firecake stand back there. And me, I’ll be the hero and stop them. Petty thieves must be stoppped!” She said crossing her arms and snickering slightly. “But I’m perfectly fine with just standing here, it’s sort of comfy here.”

  • Ming smiled at the two boys before her. "Don't worry Dorje! There will be other performances. Plus the view from up here is amazing!" It truly was a spectacular view. The height of the branch permitted them to see the entirety of the heart of the festival. A middle-aged man making his way onto the stage at the center suddenly caught her attention. He grabbed the mic to make the following announcements. "Welcome everyone to the Fire Lily Festival! In just a few moments the Fire Lord and his family will make their grand appearance. The Fire Lord has a major announcement to make and right afterwards our spectacular fireworks show will begin." The man placed the mic back on the stand before walking off stage. Ming's eyes widened in excitement. "Did you hear that? The Fire Lord is going to be here! I wonder what this big announcement is going to be about." Her mind came up with a multitude of ideas that ranged from the Fire Lord naming an heir to the discovery of the Avatar. Maybe they found the Avatar and are finally going to introduce him or her to the world! It is about time! Ming glanced at the other boy (Kyung). I didn't get a chance to properly introduce myself to him. She thought with a small frown. "I'm Ming by the way." She finally said just loud enough for the other boy to hear. "What is yours?"

A large group of what appeared to be circus performers began making their way to the center of the festival. The performers wore a peculiar type of mask that still made them look somewhat festive. It was a plain white mask that his every feature except the eyes. Five colorful dots decorated the forehead part of the mask (red, yellow, purple, blue, and green). The purple dot, which was located in the middle, was the largest one. These performers did not stick out from the rest of the crowd. In fact, nobody who wasn't associated with the Purple Lotus would have realized that these individuals were more than mere street performers. They were spies for the Purple Lotus, and they only had two jobs. 1. Take any child that expresses any signs of bending. 2. Eliminate those who get in their way. These people were incredibly dangerous opponents. And their mission for tonight was to kidnap the Fire Lord's young son, who had recently showed firebending abilities. It was a bold mission but they were capable of getting away with it. The question was...how did they know about the boy's abilities? It was because of Feng. The President of the United Republic of Nations was also the head of the Purple Lotus. However, not everyone knew about the society's wicked ways. Only a select few did and they were constantly being hunted everyday. Since Feng was the president, he had close relationships with all of the nations' leaders. It was not surprising that the Fire Lord shared such news to him.

  • Iya laughed, hooking her arm with the taller woman's. It was easier to navigate the crowds and not get lost when connected like this. She could smell the noddle cart before she saw it and she picked up her pace. "Peng, my man, two bowls please!" She called, holding up her free hand, two fingers raised. The man served up the noodles and handed them over, "These are on the house, for you and your friend Iyashi as long as you promise not to get in any trouble today," the man's voice was gruff, but there was a touch of amusement in his voice. "Me? Never," Iya scoffed taking her bowl, "They have some secret ingredient or sauce, I'm not sure he won't tell me, but these are the best noodles in the Nation," Iya said to Azura, through a mouth full of noodles.

A man on the stage caught Iya's attention. "I wonder what's going on." Her instructors had mentioned the event earlier that morning, but if she was honest she hadn't been listening in the slightest. "Perhaps we should get closer? Get a better seat for the fireworks?" Iya couldn't explain it, but dread was filling her core, and if just one lesson had stuck with her through all these years, it was to never ignore her instincts.

"Me? I think it's more you missed out," Jian pressed a hand to his chest, a look of mock indignation plastered on his face. "It's not always the guy who has to should start conversations," He had certainly noticed Misao, but to be very frank he hadn't approached her because he was worried he'd get smacked by a fan, best case scenario. "Well then Ms. Savior, don't hesitate to let me know if guys need any extra help. Thanks to you girl's intensive training I don't think I'll ever forget how to fight." Jian pulled out a fan out his pocket, fanning himself with it.

  • Azura helped to part the crowd for the shorter girl. She chuckled at the way the girl addressed the clerk, but happily took her bowl of noodles. As she took a bite, she felt a knot of dread form in her stomach. She vaguely heard her speak about getting closer as she began looking around. "Yeah... Let's get closer." She hooked arms with Iya. "Call me weird, but I have a bad feeling." She whispered to the girl beside her.

Kyung became interested at the mention of the royal family. He'd never seen them before. This festival was turning out to be pretty cool. As the girl introduced himself, he looked at her. "My name's Kyung. It's a pleasure to meet you both."

  • The announcement had suprised him, now that was some good news. Sure he missed the blue fire bender but being able to have a clear view of the firelord was something extraordinary. Having someone so guarded actually come out of the palace to make an announcement to a crowd of common people was rare and exciting. Whatever they had to announce must be worthwhile since it was coming now straight from their mouth. Even if it was something as minor as thanking the people for showing up but he doubted it’d be that minimal. Maybe it was the Avatar or one of their children, something new. He anticipated it excitedly. “I can’t wait to see, must be super important if they decided to come all the way out here.” He says Over his shoulder to Ming. He then turned to Kyung as he introduced himself. “I’m Dorje. Pleasure to meet you as well.” He returned.

“Bah, But it’s so much easier that way.” She sneers “Saves me so much time.” She shrugs, when catches eye of a group walking behind him. Adjourned in some rather interesting masks, it didn’t phase her but they didn’t look like traditional fire nation masks or anything from the other nations come to think of it. Maybe some new group from republic city who hadn’t really figured out their style yet. Whoever they were, they caught her eye and gave her a horrible feeling in her gut. That sort of plummeting feeling that one gets occasionally for almost no reason it all. She narrowed her eyes at them as they passed but shook her head. It’s nothing. She returned her focus to Jian though her charisma seemed to be dwindling. She raised her brow at him fanning himself. “You should be careful with that, they leave some nasty bruises. But maybe that’s your intention so who am I to judge.” She says in a playful tone “But i’ll take you up on that offer. If anything actually does happen that is.” Misao snickers

  • "Nah, I bet you're amazing, you should show me sometime, and meet my family. You'd like them a lot I bet." Lei insisted as her brother put a hand on her shoulder as if to say slow down a little bit. It was then that they heard the announcement of the royal family and Lei perked up immediately at the mention of them.

"Big brother! Do you think that we'll see the royal family ourselves? Do you think they're nice. I've never met a royal before. Miss Hasumi, do you think that I look good enough for them?" She asked as she attempted to fix up her hair, which was tied up neatly in a bun as so as to not be in the way.
"You look stunning, I'm sure." Jei said as he took her hand, as the crowd was beginning to get a little thicker and he didn't want to lose her in it. "Remember if we get separated-"

"Go to mom and dad's stand, I know big brother!" She insisted looking up at Hasumi.

  • A rather lonely boy stood against the wall, one of his legs bent slightly. Somehow he felt his trip her was a total waste, and well, that began to make Shida just the slightest bit agitated. He spent a lot of his hard earned money and time to get her to find someone who would help train him. He was always told how strong the people of the Fire Nation were, so of course his logical answer was to come here. Well, Shi didn’t know that there was a festival going on and so now it was all just a waste of time.

There were many people of all nations he could see, but he stood out slightly being from Republic City. He dressed different than most and was considered to have relatively good looks and charm, so Shida thought that maybe as a attention seeker as well. Twitching his hand toward the other he began to fidget with the gold ring on his finger, trying to find comfort within all of this noise.

  • "I'm glad it's not just me. I really hope we're wrong though," Iya murmured, keeping her voice low as to keep the people around them blissfully unaware. Out of the corner of her eye, Iya saw someone that didn't quite fit in. "I'm going to check that guy out, come with?" Iya made her way closer to the male resting against the wall. She doubted that he was the reason and increasingly bigger ball of nerves was growing inside her, but it never hurt to be sure. "Hey," She greeted, lifting a hand. Checking her hood quickly to make sure it still hid most her face, Iya strood over, "Nice festival isn't it? Sorry to bother you, but you looked so lonely and festivals are suppose to be a place where everyone is having fun." She emphasized the last part, eyes locked onto the stranger's face for any sign of disagreement. "Where do you come from? I don't think I recognize that style of clothing."

Jian shivered, he felt like an icy hand had just grabbed his neck, and he spun around but saw nothing there besides the last of a group melting into the crowd. The male hesitantly turned back around, a little unfocused now. "How can you say that? Bruises on this masterful artwork? Never." Jian gestured to himself, but held back from putting his fan away just yet. A little voice in the back of his head told him that it would be better to keep it out and ready.

  • Azura followed close behind her as she approached the boy, but said nothing. She was too busy scanning the crowd. Her mask was becoming uncomfortable. "I'll be back." She quickly announced her departure as she jogged away, looking for a clothing vender. When she found one, she quickly bought a cloak. Taking off her mask, she slipped the hood over her head and hid her face. Hurrying back to Iya and the boy, she held up her mask for recognition. "I'm back."

Kyung nodded politely at the introduction. "So you're an Air Bender, right? And I'm guessing you're just from one of the Water Tribes." He didn't mean to sound rude when he addressed the girl, but he didn't see her waterbend. So he only assumed.

  • The group of "performers" made there way to the stage, wowing the audience with their tricks and stunts. Children ran after them to get a good view of their little show, and no one appeared to be concerned about their presence. A gold dragon moose-drawn carriage suddenly caught everyone's attention. The crowd began to cheer since it was the Fire Lord and his family. The carriage stopped right in front of the stage and out came the Fire Lord, greeting his people. A young boy of about 5 years stepped out of the carriages followed by his mother. The family's lavish clothing could not have made them stand out anymore, but they greeted their subjects with grace and humility.

"Nice to meet you, Kyung. And of course I am!" Ming said, gesturing to her blue outfit. She was about to ask Kyung where he was from, but the crowd's cheers caused her to change her focus to the stage. A large smile was on her face as she watched the royal family step out of the carriage and make their way up the stage. "That's really them! They are here!" She said excitedly. The movement of a group of people suddenly caught her attention. They were inching themselves closer and closer to the stage. At first glance they just looked like a normal group of performers, but Ming spotted something that said otherwise. The purple dot that decorated the middle of the forehead part of their masks. The exact same purple dot that she had tattooed behind her right ear. Ming widened her eyes in horror. "I first want to thank each and every one of you for coming to this beautiful festival that has been apart of our culture for generations." The Fire Lord began, raising his arms to silence the crowd. "As you all know, my son, Prince Kuzon, had turned 5 years old the other day. Most firebenders are burn during the summer, so it was no surprise to us when we discovered that our young prince is a firebender." The crowd erupted into applause and cheers. A wave of realization hit Ming, making her feel a little light-headed. So that was the plan... A smoke bomb suddenly went off, engulfing a majority of the area. The cheering immediately turned into screams of terror as people tried to get away.

"I think you look perfect for them." Hasumi said with a grin. A group of children running past them shifted her attention a bit. They are probably running to see the royal family. She thought. As she continued observing them she quickly realized that they were following a group of masked benders who were doing tricks for them. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until one of the masked individuals looked in her direction. The design of the mask caused her to stiffen as it began to dawn on her who these people were. I need to get to Ming. But before she could do anything a loud explosion was heard nearby. At first people began to cheer, thinking that it was one of the fireworks, but the mood turned into one of panic the minute large amounts of smoke began making its way towards them. "You two need to get out of here!" She screamed loud enough for Jin to hear. "This is an attack! Please find your family and leave!" With that Hasumi turned around and was about to run into the smoke to look for her sister, hoping that the two siblings won't try to stop her.

  • Azura watched as the Royal Family stepped out and greeted the people. However, her interest was drawn to the performers, who were inching ever closer to the family. Noting the purple dot on her forehead, she didn't have any time to remember where she'd seen it before a smoke bomb blocked her view. Without hesitation, her hands engulfed in blue flames. "We have to help them!" She shouted to Iya over the screaming crowd.

Kyung actually found himself chucking at Ming's reaction to the royal family, but stopped when he saw her Expression change. As he turned back to the royal family, he found he couldn't see them through a cloud of smoke. He also saw that the royal guards couldn't get to the family. Pulling out the daggers he kept in his boots, he looked to the other two. "Stay here and keep her safe." Kyung jumped down from the branch, landing and rolling skillfully before jumping back to his feet and breaking into a run towards the stage.
