  • [hmmmMmmM — after the speech sounds pretty cute]

Teasing Chris was her absolute favorite thing and she wasn’t going to pass up the chance to torture him a little bit and get him back for the trouble she’d been through. She kept hold of his hand as she wandered through the people and let him lead the way to their seats. He suggested Gabby would probably be at their seats. Along the way Mia had to try and hide her being starstruck as many artist she admired walked right past and said either hello to Chris or the both of them. Eventually they made it to the seats and Mia caught Gabby trying to get their attention. She grinned and let go of Chris to head over and give her a hug hello. “Hi!” she said, and peeked around to see if any of the chairs showed who would be around them. “This is unreal,” she whispered quietly to Gabby.

  • Gabby returned Mia’s hug and she quickly eyed Chris and gave him a brief smile. She had known that the two had been going through a rough patch so she was just a bit shocked to see them showing up here together.

“It’s my first time at one of these things too. I still can’t beleieve all the people I’ve seen...though I still don’t feel comfortable going up to them yet. I’m not very well known...unlike Chris over here. Congrats on your tour and everything by the way. I heard it went really well.”

Chris nodded his head. “Yeah, it went okay.” He said and gently wrapped a hand around Mia’s waist as they stood there talking to her. “Everyone here is just a person Gabby. I was nervous my first time too, but you’d be surprised...especially in this setting, nobody minds being bothered.”

  • “Me neither!” Mia said when Gabby talked about being too shy to meet them. “I mean at other events and parties with Chris I’ve met some super famous people but this is like, hundreds!” She was pretty sure she saw the Jonas Brothers on her way down the red carpet, too.

She tensed up a little bit when Gabby congratulated him on the tour. Yeah it had gone swimmingly well for Chris, not so much for her. She didn’t like to think about it. “Okay But you have to admit if Beyonce walked up to us right now you’d probably find yourself speechless,” she said to Chris after he’d piped up about them just being normal. “You are people but some are, like, god tier people,” she then laughed to herself, leaning into him just a bit. Others, as well as Gabby, would probably start to understand Mia and Chris were essentially back together. “I think this thing’s going to start soon,” she said, moving to sit down.

  • "No, I'm serious." Chris started to say again with a laugh. "I don't know what it is about these events, I think maybe it's the excitement or the fact that everyone is happy to be all dressed up and surrounded by their favorite celebrities but even the top tier people don't mind being bothered. In fact I think they hope for the extra attention. The more attention you get at these things the better...if other famous people notice you, well you can take it as a compliment."

Gabby thought about it but she would still be way too nervous to say anything to any of her favorite celebs. "If that were true, then why hasn't anyone come up to you yet hm? Shouldn't you be swarmed after you've been in Europe for so long?"

Chris kind of wished she would stop mentioning his tour. Mia hadn't said anything about it but he could tell that the mention of it made her a bit uncomfortable and he was sure that things between them were probably a bit fragile right now. "If you must know, I think the reason is because everyone knows I'm performing tonight. I think everyone wants to wait until after the show and try to get time in the spotlight with me. It's pathetic really."

The three of them finally started to take their seats because Mia was right, the show would definitely be starting soon and he wanted to try and relax with Mia before he would have to leave her side to go back stage and get ready. Thankfully though, that would be about halfway so he would at least get to enjoy the first half with her uninterrupted. He reached over and grabbed her hand with his and gave it a gentle squeeze while looking at her. "I'm really happy you're here."

  • “Fantastic. So later I’m going to be talking to all my favorite famous people, cool?” Mia said to him with a mischievous smirk. Gabby continued to tease him about the tour and how everyone hadn’t come up to him yet gushing with questions. Chris insisted it was because they were waiting for his performance. “Or, you’re just yesterday’s news,” Mia teased, trying to lighten the mood and not continuously have to think about his tour. “Though I am too curious about this song, since I’m not even sure I have heard any of the music from this upcoming album,” she raised her eyebrow at Chris, before moving to take her seats with them.

Mia glanced down at his hand and sighed. “I’m pretty happy I came too,” she said softly and then relaxed back into the chair as the lights starting playing around and the host came out to start the whole thing

  • Chris was glad that Mia seemed to make a few jokes about the situation. He supposed it was a good sign that she was trying to lighten the mood and move away from that subject. “Actually...” he trailed off just as the lights had dimmed and the crowd started applauding and cheering in excitement while they waited for the host to make their appearance. “You’ve heard a bit of the particular song I’m going to sing tonight.”

And with that he sat back in his seat and watched as the show finally began.

The host made introductions, jokes, and announced winners of various awards and what not. He had the entire crowd captivated althroughout his time on stage.

Time flew by and it was just about halfway over. Chris knew he would be performing soon and he leaned over toward Mia to tel her he had to go backstage to get ready but that’s when the host really surprised him.

“And now that the evening is about halfway through, I think it seems fair that I give out the most anticipated award tonight. Which, ironically, is for the most anticipated album of the year.” He paused for a moment. “Chris Foley! Get on up here!”

The crowd erupted into applause and cheers and Chris was a little surprised. Honestly he hasn’t even really cared if he got an award or not, but the timing really threw him off. He leaned over and kissed Mia’s cheek briefly before standing and making his way to the stage.

He waved and was his usual charming self, gave the host a hug and took the small little trophies they have been handing out to the winners that evening as well as a microphone, since just about everybody had been making speeches that evening.

“Wow...I don’t really know where to start.” He said with a laugh. “I guess I should start by thanking my friends and family who have always pushed me to be successful and follow what I love. My fans who have been with me through this and helped me and encouraged me to do my best. But honestly music isn’t about the fame or money, or awards. To me it’s about passion. It’s about letting the music define who you are as a person and allowing it to be an extension of yourself and emotions. Recently this year I lost sight of that. And there’s someone out there in the crowd tonight that reminded me what I’m really here for and what’s really important. She also helped me write this song and gave me all of the inspiration I needed to finish it.”

  • Mia raised an eyebrow as he said she had heard a bit of the song. She’d heard snippets hear and there of some of them so she was definitely curious as to what he could be talking about. But, it was time to pay attention. Throughout the show Mia made little comments or jokes quietly to Chris or Gabby to make them laugh. There were times where they could get up and dance / sing along to some of the other performances throughout the night. It was actually a really fun time, and Mia kept glancing at Chris every once in a while. She really had missed him; and she was glad she’d took the leap to come and talk to him and make it work. She didn’t want to lose a love like this over something that could be fixed, and she trusted that Chris would make an effort.

Just about before Chris had to go and perform, he ended up winning an award for most anticipated album. Mia’s eyes widened and she whispered a congratulations to him as he kissed her cheek and went to the stage. She filled with Pride watching him walk up there and accept the award, but his speech was the most surprising part.

Chris gave a shout out to her and she blushed, no doubt the cameras had swooped over to her for the viewers back home. Mia felt a bit on the spot but curiosity also overtook her gaze. She helped write one of his songs? Mia shot him the confused look as if to ask “what are you talking about?”

  • (MAKE SURE YOU LISTEN TO THE SONG EITHER BEFORE OR WHILE YOU READ THIS. It will hit you so hard in the feels I promise)

Chris had briefly met Mia's gaze before the lights had dimmed and things and people had began to shuffle on and off the stage, setting the scene for the performance Chris had planned. In those brief moments where everything was quiet except for the shuffling of feet and a couple excited cheers from the audience Chris could admit to being the most nervous he had ever been for a performance in his entire career. Not only was this song completely different from anything he had ever done before, but it was his own. Something he wrote from the heart and that meant something deeply personal to him. In addition to that...it was all of the feelings he had ever and still has for Mia. Sure he's told her numerous times that he loves her but honestly he was a little scared this might overwhelm her a bit or scare her off. This wasn't some trick to wrestle his way back into her heart. It wasn't him begging and screaming for her to completely forgive him. But he still needed her to know how much she meant to him.

He had originally been hoping that it would air on TV and she would see it, maybe call him and then they could finally talk about things. But now she was here in person and she would be seeing it for herself live. What was most ironic to him however, was that it was the song she had helped him write that first time she was ever in his studio, before he had asked her to be his date to the wedding where their relationship really started. The melody was completely inspired by her.

The lights in the room dimmed even more until it was almost pitch black. Chris set the microphone in a stand in front of him and decided to start his performance that way. When the lights did come back on they were on the stage a bright white accompanied by a dark blue, almost making Chris simply look like a silhouette as the band that had set up in the background started to play the soft opening to his song.

He took a few deep breaths and then started to sing right on cue, his voice melting perfectly with the lyrics and not missing a single note. The lights became a bit brighter as he sang and by the time he reached the chorus for the first time he was clearly visible, with the blue lights now dancing on the walls and the floor of the stage.

He did his best to look out over the crowd and even occasionally glanced into the large camera circling the stage, knowing this was also being televised. But for the most part, he tried to keep his eyes on Mia, or close to her at least. Toward the end of the song though he would grip the microphone tighter and closed his eyes, as if the motion would help him hit those higher, more strenuous notes. It must have worked though because he succeeded and the crowd had gone absolutely insane.

The song began to die down and he finished with the last notes, only now realizing that he was covered in a very thin layer of sweat from his performance and the cheering and applause was so loud that it drowned nearly everything out. Except Chris couldn't focus on anything but locking eyes with Mia waiting for.....well he wasn't really sure what he was waiting for. But he wasn't sure what else he could really say or do in that moment other than let the applause die down and wait for Mia to have some kind of reaction.

  • [I DID THEN AND AGAIN NOW WEE]

Mia and everyone else had stood up in anticipation of the song, because they were expecting to dance along with it but it ended up being more of a slow song. She listened intently, to every word, hands clasped together under her chin while her eyes were glued to him on stage. A part of her grew a little sad, reminding herself of being on tour and watching him on stage and she really didn’t enjoy herself much those last few shows. But a part of her also could see how much raw emotion was pouring out of him with this performance and it shot her straight in her heart.

She also recognized the melody - god how long ago had he played this and she offered her own ideas on it? This was that song. Chris had been working on this for a long long time, it seemed, which made Mia smile a stupid grin. This wasn’t some song he’d written recently to try and win her back, this was months of work and song writing and music writing and it showed how much he really loved her. Mia never felt more loved, and more important to him than she ever had been and by the end of the song she was covering her mouth and there were tears streaking out of her eyes. Of course the audience screamed and applauded and so did she, before dropping her hands and giving him the biggest smile as she wiped away tears. And then once his gaze fell on hers she smiled bigger and nodded towards backstage, signaling for her to meet her there as she moved out of the row of seats to go back there.

  • Chris could barely hear the cheers and applause coming from the crown before him. All five of his senses were much too busy focusing all of their attention on Mia until they were the only two people there and everything else just sort of fizzled out of the picture. Even from where he stood he could see the few tears streaking down her cheeks and he watched as she was quick to brush them away using her hands, allowing herself to pull them away from her mouth and show him the wide smile that was hidden beneath. He wasn't sure how she was going to react to the song after their fight and what not, but he was very pleased to see that it was a positive one.

He watched as she motioned toward backstage with her head and he gave the slightest of nods so that to everyone else it would go unnoticed. He said a last few words into the microphone, dismissing himself from their presence and then made his way toward the backstage wings where he knew he would be seeing Mia in just a few short seconds. Everyone here basically knew who she was and he didn't think they would stop her at all as she came to meet him, so he stood there, his eyes on the door which he knew she would be entering from and he waited, hardly able to contain all of the emotions he had bubbling up inside of him. Mia hadn't let him kiss her before when they first arrived, but now he wasn't sure he would be able to hold himself back.

  • Mia just knew without a doubt now how much he truly cared for her. Sure he may not still be fully forgiven for hurting her, but this song was a start. He still was going to have to work to earn some of her trust back. But right now? Her heart was so full. Of her affection and love for this man who’d completely and utterly surprised her again. She’d been reminded of their deep connection once again and she wasn’t not at all ready to let that go.

There was a bit of trouble for her trying to find the way to the backstage, and she had to talk to security for a minute or two to convince her to be let back stage. They had to live under a rock to not know that she was Chris’s girlfriend. Eventually she was let through and she picked up the skirt of her dress to walk a bit faster, and she went through another set of doors, glancing around until her eyes landed on him, already looking her way. Mia’s eyes were still a bit shiny from crying but a smile erupted on her face as she made her way overboard confidently, until she was before him and basically throwing herself onto him, arms wrapped around his neck as she brought him down for a kiss. How could she not after that performance?

  • Chris really wasn't sure what he had been expecting when Mia came through that door, but he certainly couldn't tear his eyes away from her and the way her dress hugged her curves so perfectly. God she really was so beautiful...and more importantly she was all his. He would make sure of that. Chris knew he would never let her slip through his fingers again, not when she meant the world to him. As she grew closer and closer to his almost still form he began to panic. Should he kiss her? Hug her? Neither? Both? He was starting to run out of time to make up his mind but before he knew it Mia had made the decision for him, surprising him and knocking him back a step or two when she threw herself at him and pressed her lips against his. He didn't waste any time and quickly regained his footing as his arms snaked around her waist to hold her close. His lips responded just as quickly and he was so eternally grateful for this moment. He had missed her so much and he was finally holding her and kissing her again. It had been far too long he decided.

He didn't want to pull away. The energy between them especially after the heated performance he had just given was overwhelming and Chris couldn't bring himself to release her, even after he had pulled his lips away from hers so that the two of them could breathe for a moment, though he left his forehead to rest against hers. "See, I told you that you would recognize the melody."

  • Mia let out a giggle as she ended up making him stumble from the impact, but those quickly died down as his arms care around and he kissed her back. She practically melted right into him, her knees going weak but she held onto him tightly to not fall over. Especially in front of all these people backstage. The two of them definitely got lost in each other and this passionate embrace, before Chris was the one to pull away after a while so they could both breathe. Mia’s hands had found there way to his hair, though she was careful not to mess it up since they still had half of the night to go.

“I did. I better be credited as a composer on that album,” Mia teased with a laugh. She pulled her forehead away from him so she could look at him. “Take me home with you tonight. Please,” she said quietly. She’d been planning to head back to her and her sisters house, but after that song, and this kiss, absolutely not. “You’ve been writing that song for ages huh?”

  • Chris closed his eyes briefly at the feeling of her fingers in his hair. Why did it feel as though she hadn't done this in forever? He was so undeniably lost with her and all their onlookers backstage were practically non-existent. Chris also laughed along at her comment, though he gave it some serious consideration. Maybe he would do it as a surprise or something. He had been leaning forward to recapture her lips with his own when he noticed she was about to speak yet again so he paused and waited for her to finish, and when she did he gave a smile and nodded his head quickly. She requested to go home with him after the show was over and Chris was in no place to object. He had been assuming after their conversation earlier that she would probably just go back to her place with her sister, but now after he had spilled his emotions out to her on stage she must have changed her mind.

"It started slow." He explained when she asked about the song. "At first it was just the melody. I had been wanting to write something a bit slower for a long time. It wasn't until after my cousins wedding that I started to put any of the lyrics together, and once I started writing them...I just couldn't stop. They came pretty quickly."

  • In all honesty Mia had completely forgotten she was backstage at an award show. She’d drowned out the sound of the people talking on stage and giving out awards, making announcements, and right now it seemed there was another performance going on. But Chris was all that was on her mind. Mia let one hand move from his hair to the front of his Face to brush the locks back and softly run her hand over his face affectionately. “After your cousin’s wedding? Gosh that was...forever ago,” she murmured, smiling at the memory. “We fell in love so fast didn’t we?” she didn’t regret it at all though, and she leaned up to kiss him again for a few moments. “Should we go back to our seats? I need to use the bathroom first and make sure I’m not a total mess,” she laughed

  • “Well I fell in love with you forever ago.” He commented back with a cheesy grin. He made sure to kiss her one last time and then gave her a nod. “Yeah of course. Let’s see the end of the awards and then we’ll head back to mine.” He told her and took her by the hand, leading them back to their seats.

Gabby smiled when she saw them return and gave Chris a quick hug. “Chris that was amazing!” She said proudly. “Wish I had someone to write a song like that about me.” She gushed.

Chris smiled a bit in return and took his seat with Mia once more. “Thanks Gaby.”

  • Mia just rolled her eyes at him. She made sure he stopped at a bathroom for her to check her make up, touch it up so she wasn’t a total ugly slob for everyone when they went back to their seats, because eyes would be on them for sure. She rejoined Chris and they headed back to their seats where Gabby complimented Chris.

“Oh you’ll find your man, Gabby. There are plenty of cute songwriters around here” Mia pointed out quietly as she sat back into her seat. She leaned into Chris a bit more and held his hand throughout the rest of the show. A few hours later after laughing and dancing and having a good time with Chris and Gabby, it was all over. “Is there an after party or ?” she whispered to Chris

  • Chris definitely enjoyed the second half of the award show and all of the performances that happened. He and Mia had a great time along with Gabby and before he knew it, it was finally over.

“Well there is,” Chris answered when Mia asked if there was an after party. “Many of them actually. A lot of celebrities like to throw their own. I wasn’t planning on going to any of them, but if you wanted to go I’d be more than happy to take you.” He offered, ignoring all the chatter and flashes of cameras going off around them as people began to file out of the building, obviously excited for whatever plans they had made for the rest of the evening.

  • Mia glanced around at all of the celebrities either moving out of the venue or sticking around and talking. A part of her did want to go to an after party and talk and mingle and network...but there would be plenty of these and other times to party with celebs right? Plus after everything between her and Chris she just wanted a night alone to be with him and catch up on the past month or so without him.

“No,” Mia shook her head, looking up at him. “Another time. I kind of just want a relaxing night in with you,” she said and wrapped her arms around his torso to bring him in close.

  • Chris gave Mia a simple nod of his head, acknowledging her request of having a relaxing night in. Just the two of them. And quite honestly he was pretty pleased with her choice because it was exactly what he wanted as well. It had been so long since the two of them were together and he desperately wanted her to himself for his own selfish reasons mostly and to get caught up on their previous month of activities. He especially wondered how it had been for her when she saw her family.

“Alright sure, let’s go.” He told her and took her hand in his. He said his goodbye to Gabby politely and to anyone else who had approached him on their way out of the venue.

He had taken a limo to the event so that also happened to be their ride back to his house. On their way he held her close to him and placed a few gentle kisses on the top of her head. God he had missed her so much. Once they arrived he stepped out and offered a hand to Mia to help her out as well.
