UNTIL KINGDOM COME —
introduction
long ago, in the world known as kvada, a great war was waged in the lands that would eventually become the kingdom of qhoyre. two houses, called la'skava and garmoor, fought a bloody conflict against each other. it was only through the combined efforts of a famed warrior, an incredible sorcerer, a benign god, a powerful dragon rider, a deathly efficient assassin, a cunning and swift thief, and the man who would become the king of the new kingdom that the war ended. the new king hailed from a third house, ysmir, who had until then remained neutral. the la'skava and garmoor houses were defeated, and the king, a man named zan'dul, dissolved the houses and created a kingdom that soon became known as qhoyre.
for hundreds of years since then, the world of kvada has been plagued by endless war, brought upon by widespread conflicts, crime, and even civil wars within the world's numerous kingdoms. it is now the year 739, and while the conflicts that had once been thought to be unending are settling themselves worldwide, the kingdom of qhoyre was not spared. only a few decades ago, qhoyre had been a worldwide model for peace. it experienced a time of great prosperity, brought upon by the great king a'skaviir, who with his wise and kind rulings created an era of great peace for his nation. his rule did not come without consequence, though. in the remote corners of his kingdom, the people were exceedingly poor and lived in mostly rural, agricultural hamlets without exports of any kind. these people were greatly unhappy with the king, and so was one of his closest advisors, nereid the sorceress, a descendant of the assassin of legend. she hailed from one of these villages, and as her people grew tired of the king's rule, so did she. in a planned coup, she assassinated the king and crowned herself queen. the monarchy turned harsh, and the new queen's grip grew increasingly tighter on qhoyre and its peoples. nereid became known as nereid the traitor queen, and in some circles, nereid the mad.
a prophecy emerged among the land's people, foretold by an aging prophet whom many viewed as senile. the prophecy told of seven children, descendants of the original seven heroes, who would one day come to overthrow the mad queen. in response, the queen formed a secret police that she dubbed the black hand. they operated under her command and carried out her every command. they kill those that even dare to oppose her reign, and anyone that dares to speak of the prophecy is immediately arrested, or even killed. unfortunately for the queen, the prophecy is destined to come to fruition.
summary
this thread is based around and idea that i've had for a while now. the whole point of this thread is to roleplay the descendants of the original seven heroes and the story of their overthrow of the queen. this is not intended to be a short thread in the slightest, and there will be plenty of sidetracks in their quest. i've really been wanting to do a thread like this for a while, so i hope we can keep it going for a good amount of time.
setting
this roleplay, as i've noted before, takes place in the kingdom of qhoyre. it is made up of four distinct provinces, each one marked by a direction on a compass. to the north is the province of vinkus. this place is widely known for its stunning beauty and its vast amounts of valuable resources. its beauty and proximity to so many resources makes the province a notable area for tourism, and is host to most of qhoyre's wealthy people. the cities in vinkus are noticably much nicer than the cities in every other area. to the east is a mountainous province named cragule. it is relatively isolated from the rest of the kingdom due to the mountains that line its border. beyond the mountains are vast grasslands and rolling hills. the people here are mostly divided into tribes, none of which fight with each other and are actually quite civilized. its cities are mostly small farming villages. the mountains are a major source of the kingdom's ores and minerals. the southern portion is connected to the ocean, and is one of the major sources of qhoyre's fish and is host to qhoyre's massive ports. this is a particularly wealthy region, but the vinkus is still significantly more wealthy than everywhere else. its cities are very notably influenced by the coast, and a lot of fruits and vegetables are grown in this region. the western province is simply known as the badlands. the region is mostly made of marshes with boggy, useless land and large forests. rich mineral resources can be found here. the people are relatively poor, and a lot of the region's cities are built around canals. the central province is home to qhoyre's massive capital, fletch. the capital is home to a wide variety of people and services, and is the home to many businesses as well as the castle where the monarch lives.
