(( i think it would be interesting to have a/b/c/d/f at first, and then as it gets closer to the final it could change to the top 9/a/b/c ? ))

the first night, hana had found it hard to sleep. the excitement from that day and the nervousness of what was to come kept her up; but luckily at some point she eventually drifted off to sleep. the next day wasn’t as bad as she thought, they had their individual performances and were placed in a class, and from there they were to practice for their first official performance.

after what had felt like forever, hana was called into a room sectioned away from the other trainees and put on her individual performance; landing herself in class b. it wasn’t terrible, not the best either. and they weren’t really told the reasoning behind their placements, but hana could only blame her dancing skills for not landing her in class a with the other aim entertainment girls.

she waited patiently in the practice room, hoping that her three new friends received good news as well; that they were all placed under a good grade. especially jihye, if the other girl was in class a or b they would be on the stage for practically the same amount of time; it would help them practice together easier.

as she heard the beat interactive girls entering the practice room, she quickly turned around and waited for them to come in, hoping to see a smiling jihye. a smile could only mean that she placed well, tears... hana didn’t even want to think about jihye placing low; it was impossible.

kaito had spent most of the first night talking with the other male trainees that shared a room with him and xiao, occasionally bothering the chinese male on the top above him, trying to get him to admit that he totally had heart eyes over hana. but he was quick to shut up when essentially all the boys within an earshot were quick to tell him that it was him that had heart eyes for jihye.

luckily though, he was able to get a good amount of rest and wasn’t too nervous about his solo performance. he figured that he wouldn’t have been let on the show by his company if he didn’t have at least some talent to offer, and if his assumption was true and they let the best trainees perform last the previous day, then he knew he was going to be placed in a high grade, not expecting anything lower than c.

his predictions were right too, he ended up being placed in a, the only one from his company; though they didn’t place too low, the lowest being a c grade. while the other boys from his company went to join the others in the practice room, he decided to wait behind in the hall that separated everything. he planned on waiting for jihye, hoping to see her and congratulate her for doing so well; because he just knew she was going to placed in a high grade. in kaito’s opinion, if they were given numbered scores, she would definitely place the highest.

there was also yixiao too, even if they had barely known each other for two days, he had grown quite fond of the other male; seeing him as a brother. he could only hope that he received a high grade too, he thought he was beyond talented and wanted him to make it to the finals at the very least.

(ooh that'd be interesting, i really like that!)

jihye, although being extremely nervous for the following day, didn't have any difficulty falling asleep that night. she stayed up for a little bit to talk, but all the girls in the room agreed to at least try to go to sleep at a reasonable time. any time she's in a dark place and extremely comfortable, jihye always falls asleep sooner than most. that also probably explains why she was up so early in the morning. before anyone else woke up, jihye was up and about, silently preparing herself for the day. others would call her crazy for not staying in bed longer, but there's no falling back asleep when jihye wakes up.

while she was in the practice room, jihye was constantly practicing, making sure everything was perfect. she was with her own group but couldn't help but look over towards hana to see how she was doing, since she expressed how nervous she was earlier. as much as she wanted her own groupmates to succeed, jihye hoped that hana would be placed in a good group. those boring lower class colors didn't suit hana, and the talent level was certainly too low for her. hopefully the judges saw it the same way.

soon enough, it was her turn. jihye walked down the seemingly endless hallway until she reached the correct room. she was extremely intimidated and almost missed a step, but quickly caught herself before anything was noticeable. overall, the process was short and sweet, landing jihye in the a class. the other beat interactive girls all had good performances, but only one other made it to the a class while two were in b, and the last one ended up in the d class. even though the entire group did well, all of them were devastated for the girl who was in the d class, who happened to be the youngest of the group, which almost made everything more painful.

as the girls were making their way back from evaluations, jihye squinted, confused. was that kaito hanging out in the hallway? shouldn't he be back at the practice rooms? was everything okay? they just met, but she couldn't just let him stay there if something was wrong. curious, she took this time to separate herself from her company-mates and slowly approach the taller man. "hey there," she greeted him, not sure how to approach him. should she straight up ask what's going on? what if he's fine and she's just being intrusive?

    tumblr_p8tbrurCWx1vbcnwzo1_400.gif

xiao's night was filled with laughs and a whole lot of teasing, especially when it came to hana or kaito and jihye. everyone in that room probably knew about their little crushes by now, but they're really not the only ones. with as many beautiful and stunning trainees are here, is it really common to not have people falling head-over-heels for each other? the setting doesn't matter, it's bound to happen at any point and if the staff were so against this type of interaction, they should've been more strict about it from the beginning.

he wasn't exactly the most worried person in the building, but he was quite up there. he had all the choreography down, but he was more worried about his vocal performance. the piece he was being evaluated on is more of a vocal song than a rapper's song. and xiao isn't exactly the best vocalist. he's been training, but he's very weak in vocals. this scared him. what if he got put in f class? or d class? what if they jut decided to not put him in a class and just send him home? it was unlikely, but he knew whatever he was going to put out there was going to get an accurate grading, and he shouldn't argue.

the time for his evaluation came and he was bouncing off the walls in the hallway. he couldn't contain this newfound energy he didn't have ten minutes ago. luckily, as soon as he stepped into the room, his nerves calmed, allowing him to seem somewhat presentable, but still nervous as ever. his other two company-mates did amazing, landing one in a and one in b. all that was left was yixiao. the beginning of his evaluation was good, his vocals were somehow stronger than ever, but he just had to mess up towards the end, getting the notes wrong. his friends said it wasn't noticeable, but xiao knew he messed up. being placed in b class, xiao knew he should've gotten worse. he told himself earlier that he wouldn't argue with the grading, but he messed up, that isn't b class behavior in his eyes.

walking back into the practice room, he grabbed his things and headed out to the main lobby area to get a fresher breath of air. the practice rooms now are reeking of sweat and hardwork, and that never really smells good. as he was walking, he passed the girl's practice room. he stopped suddenly, wondering if he should ask hana to come talk with him, since it'd be pretty awkward to stand out there alone. but, it's probably more awkward to walk into the room and personally ask her to join him. he wanted to make sure everything was okay, and he was pretty sure she had gone by now, since he heard her company name get called earlier. he wanted to somehow tell her to come talk with him, but he didn't know how. maybe if he finds jihye or another girl somewhere, they can pass on the message? or there's also that sliver of hope that she saw him and would want to come outside herself.

    tumblr_p7z7soCGCv1shjnqco1_400.gif

as hana noticed the other girls from jihye’s company walk back into the practice room without her, hana began to grow nervous. she had noticed that some of the girls were visibly upset; what if jihye got placed in a low class? hana doubted that it was possible, but what if jihye had made a mistake and landed herself into f class? surely that would make her fellow trainees upset, after all people from the same company usually only wanted success for one another.

she decided that she shouldn’t bother the upset looking girls just to ask where jihye was; she thought it would come off as a bit rude since she wouldn’t be asking any of them how they did or anything. normally she would’ve, but she was more worried about her new friend than anything.

as she pushed through the training room doors, she was surprised to see xiao standing there. even though she was worried and looking for jihye, it would be a lie if she said she wasn’t happy to see xiao, but she only grew more worried as she saw that he didn’t seem the happiest either. what if things had only gone well for her and all her new friends suffered from the harsh judging? hana would rather be placed in f class than be higher than her friends who clearly deserved to already be in the final lineup.

“xiao, is everything okay?” she asked softly as she walked over to the male. she quickly wrapped her fingers around his wrist, gently dragging him down the hall. if any of the other girls were to enter or exit the room, surely the cameras would have a good view of the hallway; and the last thing either of them needed were rumors. it was only the second day after all, nobody needed anything like that, especially suspicions about them dating. hana knew that it was a wild assumption to make, two people dating just because they were seen talking, but it had happened before. and she really didn’t want it happening to her or xiao.

“please tell me you didn’t place in a low grade.” she was ready for him to either admit that he was placed in a high grade and have both of them celebrate together, or have him come out and say he did badly and start wiping away his tears. it wasn’t uncommon for people to cry when they did badly, she had already witnessed a whole crowd of sobbing girls in d and f class, and she didn’t expect any different reaction out of him. “i mean, even if you did it’s okay. we’ll just have to make sure for the next performance you blow everyone away, okay? it’ll be just fine, this will all be over and you’ll be debuting before you know it.”

    nakajima kaito

    tumblr_inline_ov76anLh3a1u8y7g0_540.gif

as kaito saw jihye walking towards him, he felt his smile stretch wide across his face to the point where his cheeks started to hurt. maybe xiao was right, he did have major heart eyes for her. or a heart smile? he didn’t really have time to think about it.

“hi.” he replied to her, looking her up and down once to make sure that she didn’t look upset or anything. the last thing he wanted was for him to be looking all happy and excited when she was feeling the opposite. once he was sure that she was feeling alright, he started to speak again. “so what’s it like knowing you got a class? i mean, you are in a right? because if you’re not i think they should seriously reconsider who they picked as judges.”

he paused for a moment, deciding that he should ask about her friend, hana too. “did you get to see hana yet? i hope she did well, she was looking really nervous before she went in. i haven’t seen her yet, i hope she’s just with the other girls from her company celebrating.”

well either that or that xiao had somehow found her; kaito decided it was better not to say that to jihye though. he knew it wasn’t really a bad thing, but still, he didn’t really want to chance jihye telling hana that xiao might have a tiny little thing for her. what if that scared hana off or something? that was the last thing he wanted to happen to xiao, especially after learning from him that she knew chinese too. not many of the trainees spoke chinese, so it must have been really nice for xiao to have met someone he could communicate with comfortably.

he decided that he couldn’t wait any long for jihye to ask how he did, so he just decided to tell her. “i got into a class. honestly i surprised myself, i didn’t even know that i knew all the words to the song. i was so sure i was going to mess it all up for myself, but thankfully even i can be surprised by my own talents.”

  • byun jihye

    tumblr_okm2gvByPI1sn29lho2_r3_400.gif

jihye widened her eyes, curious as to how kaito already knew her results. but as he kept talking, she understood. he was just guessing. "uh, yeah, i got into a class. i almost messed up though, but i guess they didn't see it." she laughed at herself, feeling foolish for almost tripping up on the easiest part of the evaluation.

hearing about hana, jihye was reminded that she still hasn't talked to her since they started practicing. surely she should go talk to her, right? she has no doubt she did well, but she also felt the same about her company's maknae, kira. no, jihye can't be thinking about hana being in a low class, those judges aren't bad judges, they can definitely see her talent. "no, i haven't talked to her since she left for her evaluation. i hope she did good," her mood instantly changed from happy to concern for her friend. which brought up her next question. "what about xiao? did you hear how he did?"

her emotions quickly changed back to happy as she heard how kaito did. a class, as expected. "you should've known you'd make a class, you have the talent even if you don't know it. but i'm so happy for you!" jihye almost went in for a hug to congratulate him, but stopped herself, realizing the boundaries and the cameras in the hallways. if that camera caught them hugging, that'd be harmful for both of them, especially so early in the competition. she knows that fans get very possessive sometimes and any form of relationship would instantly be seen as negative. at the end of the day, this is a competition and jihye knew she needed to do whatever to keep herself here.

by now, almost everyone was finished being evaluated and everyone was getting restless. laughter and playful screams could be heard echoing throughout the halls, but it was mainly coming from the boys. fainter laughter could be heard from the girls, but they were being drowned out by the overly obnoxious boys. jihye couldn't help but smile at their silliness, laughing quietly. "i have a feeling we're going to be doing something fun after we get everything for our classes. i mean, i hope so, i've been stressed all morning." she sighed, running a hand through her hair. after evaluations are through, everyone is officially being sorted into their respective classes, receiving new name tags and clothing to represent their class. it was very anticipating, but couldn't come any sooner.

    tumblr_p8tbrurCWx1vbcnwzo1_400.gif

honestly, xiao was a bit spooked when he saw hana exit the room, even though he hoped she would. but now that she found him outside of the girls' practice room, did she think he was a creep? "hey hana, i was just on my way to the lobby to get a little bit of fresh air, there's only so long i can be in that room with all of those boys." he explained, flinching at the mention of that boys practice room. it isn't bad, but it wasn't the best smell after there's been so many trainees practicing since the early hours of the morning.

he was also a bit surprised when he felt hana's hand around his wrist, leading him down the way he was originally going. her hand was soft against his wrist, or very delicate. he followed closely behind, otherwise his arm would end up getting pulled either by himself or by hana, plus his strides were a lot longer than hers, perks of having long legs.

as soon as hana mentioned the classes, xiao mentally hit himself. yes, he was upset about messing up. he wasn't sad or anything, but he was just disappointed in himself for messing up on something so easy. "well, i mess up towards the end, i switched some notes and it just put me off. i got into b class, but i'm pretty sure i should've gotten lower." he admitted. "how did you do?" xiao asked immediately after.

xiao was always the type of person to be hard on himself. he would always train his hardest for whatever he was doing, and what he was just evaluated on just wasn't who he was. and now that is going to get broadcasted and everyone all around the world will know him by that. first impressions are important, and his wasn't good. but on the other side, he knew hana did well. something about the way she was holding herself and the way she was acting told him she wasn't too disappointed in what she showed, and that was something to make xiao happier, right? seeing his friends succeed, especially hana. he literally just met her and he's already cheering her on, hoping she makes the debut team.

(( i know my explanation skills are terrible so please bare with me if this makes no sense. so how the grades all wear different colors i was thinking pink/yellow/orange/green/grey and then once top nine comes into play, their color could be blue? and i hope the theme song is the right way to call it, what i meant by that is like how on produce 101 they did pick me, i couldn’t remember if they called or something different and that was the best thing that came in mind to name it. also what i meant for smaller group performances is like how like on p101 some trainees performed one song and some performed another. i really don’t know if my way of explaining makes sense so i’m sorry if it doesn’t ! ))

hana scrunched her nose up at the mention of the boys practice room; she could only imagine what it was like in there. if the faint scent that left the room every time the door opened and the screaming that could still be heard from the lobby was any proof to how bad it was, hana really didn’t want to imagine actually being in the room.

as they reached the lobby, hana glanced down at her hand and instantly let go of xiao’s wrist, a soft blush growing across her cheeks. just the day before she was barely able to talk to him and now here she was, just inches away from holding his hand. it wasn’t anything to blush over normally, but seeing how she was extremely shy especially when it came to boys, it was a pretty big deal to her. she was honestly surprised that her blush wasn’t more obvious.

but the mention of b class quickly snapped her away from her thoughts, her face lighting up a bit. “i got b class too!” her joy was short lived though, because she was finally able to process the fact that xiao thought he should have gotten a lower grade. “don’t be so hard on yourself xiao, everyone messes up sometimes. in fact, i messed up too! if only you saw the performance, you’d be surprised how many times one girl can trip over herself in one dance.” she laughed softly, hoping the fact that she could laugh at her own mistakes would cheer xiao up a little. small mistakes were nothing to dwell too much on, and it was still early in the competition. classes would be changing quickly, xiao had plenty of room to improve and be bumped up to a class.

    nakajima kaito

    tumblr_inline_ov76anLh3a1u8y7g0_540.gif

kaito was almost as happy hearing that jihye was a class as when he heard he was a class; he didn’t expect anything less for her but still, anything could happen in a competition. at the mention of xiao, he quickly shook his head.

“i haven’t seen him yet. i mean i think he did well, but i still can’t help but worry a bit, you know?” maybe the same way he worried about xiao was the same way jihye worried about hana; they had hardly known one another for long but their frienships were already pretty strong. he didn’t want to see xiao upset and only wanted to see him debut, even if they weren’t from the same company or anything. “he might be in the training room though, i was going to head in there but i wanted to see how thing went for you first.”

kaito nodded in agreement, something fun must be happening soon. not that the individual scoring wasn’t fun, because they were performing, but it was still stressful because it felt as if everything was dependent on the result of it. “i know we should be getting the lyrics and choreography for the theme song soon, then after that i guess we’ll be sorted randomly for smaller performances?”

kaito was beyond excited to hear the song all of the trainees would be singing, he could only imagine what a song with that many people singing on it sounded like, and he only imagined it as good. the idea that they would be randomly sorted from there though to perform made him nervous. while he was a class, there were other a class trainees that seemed as if they would do anything to debut. while everyone had seemed friendly the first night, he could already tell that after some of the trainees got put into a class the competitive side of them came out. even though they were little group performances, everyone was still scored individually, people would be watching and voting for them individually. kaito only hoped that he could keep up with everyone else and keep doing as well as he had been so far.

“honestly i really want to see you and hana perform together, honestly i think you’d two be an unstoppable duo. if you two ever do perform together, i can see so many companies begging you to sign with them as a duo.” maybe the whole begging part was an exaggeration, but he could see the two performing together and everyone realizing that they were a force to be reckoned with; where one had weakness the other had strength and that was what made a good team.

  • byun jihye

    tumblr_okm2gvByPI1sn29lho2_r3_400.gif

(those colors are really good! also, i think i get what you're saying? do you mean like how they got separated for their first live performance with the covers?)

jihye nodded, hearing about xiao. everyone lately has been off in their own worlds, especially before evaluations. now, everyone's starting to get back to normal and interact again. jihye honestly wouldn't be surprised if xiao and hana somehow found each other, they seem to be the type to always find each other, even when it's unintentional. she had no evidence to back this up, but feelings are stronger than any other sense in that field, so that has some validation, right?

suddenly, jihye let out a quiet "oh, yeah that's happening." she knew the theme song and first mission was coming up, but somehow it didn't register that it'd be today. you'd think that'd be an easy thing to remember, but jihye is sort of a different type.she's very forgetful of some things, but luckily performances didn't apply. but important information like the upcoming schedule? there's no promises there. oh jihye, you've got some major focusing to do.

as kaito mentioned hana and jihye being a power duo, all the girl could do is giggle, obviously flattered considering her cheeks were as hot as boiling water and they were red like roses. "thank you, i really like hana, she's super nice and one of the most talented ones here. i thought we'd hate each other at first since this is a competition, but i'm happy to not have her on my bad side." what she was saying was true. before jihye arrived on the filming set, she was actually on the verge of tears with the belief that everyone will hate each other because the competition does get fierce. as much as she needed to be on this show, she wouldn't be able to stand living and working with people who only saw each other as road blocks on the route to debut. and for as passive as jihye can be, she'd easily get trampled over by such aggressive people. but now that she's here and she's met the other trainees, she's happy her thoughts are wrong. who knows, maybe some of the people jihye thought would hate her forever would turn into her best friends forever.

she was going to add something else, but was cut off by the yelling of a very official voice booming through the halls. "evaluations are over, please take this time to receive your class materials and freshen up before we begin the next schedule!" wide eyes, jihye looked to kaito. "and so it begins." she said with a very neutral sigh. "we better hurry up before there's too many there." she knew this all too well. the longer you wait now, the less time you'll have later to actually rest without any worries. that is, until the next part of the day begins.

xiao could see hana's blush after she let go of his wrist, which triggered a small smile on his own face, thinking her actions were adorable. yes, he knew he was practically falling hard for her, almost too fast since they literally just met yesterday, but it's hard to not like someone when they're like hana. xiao knew his boundaries and he made sure not to overstep them, but all he could think of was her. if kaito or any other boys found out, he'd be toast or the center of all teasing for months.

as he heard hana was in the same boat as him, his mood instantly lightened, but he was confused. hana? class b? no way. he decided to wait for her to continue before talking. lucky he did, because the more she kept talking, the better he felt. it's like she knew exactly what to say to him. probably because she experienced the same thing. he chuckled along with hana, his smile growing. "no, i think you did a lot better than what you think. but it's good we're in the same class. even though you deserve to be in a so you'll probably get switched as soon as possible." he complimented with a sincere tone. she really did deserve to be in a class, not b, but there's always being able to move up. and luckily classes don't completely determine popularity votes, so she can still be ranked pretty high even being in class b.

he took a deep breath of long-awaited fresh air, even if it isn't the freshest, anything was better than what he just experienced for the morning. he greeted passing trainees, also on their way for fresh air or water. xiao then decided to take a mental note: buy and bring air fresheners whenever he could. soon, he heard the announcement of a small break to get the clothes and things for the new classes. he looked over towards hana. "should we go, or wait to see if we can find kaito and jihye?" he was probably sure hana wanted to see jihye, and he honestly wanted to talk to kaito to see how he did, but xiao also didn't want to wait too long and end up waiting forever to receive everything they needed. "but who knows where they are, they'll probably be mixed in with everyone else." he added softly, looking around the area.

(( yeah!! sorry i can’t think of what anything is called today, i thought about it for so long and i was like ?? what is it called ))

hana let out a soft sigh of relief as a voice announced that the time to freshen up and gather materials before the next activity started. she didn’t want for it to take too long before their next activity because it gave her more time to think, more time to worry. she was happy that her wish came true.

as xiao asked whether or not they should wait and try to find kaito and jihye, she quickly shook her head. it was probably best for them to go straight away so they had more time to relax, plus she was excited to see how the class b uniforms looked on her and xiao. there was also the fact that so many trainees would be moving around in such a small place that it was probably next to impossible to find anyone in particular, let alone two people. she also wanted to spend more time alone with xiao, but she wouldn’t ever admit that to him. not so soon in their friendship anyways.

“let’s try and find them after we get our uniforms and everything.” she then turned and started heading towards the room where everyone else was, occasionally checking over her soldier to make sure that her and xiao weren’t seperated by the crowd.

it didn’t take too long to reach a long table of people handing out the uniforms that matched their class, and hana couldn’t help but smile at the yellow uniform. sure it wasn’t the pink one that everyone desired, but b class was better than f class; and she would have to keep that mentality in order not to worry too much.

for the first time since they met up, hana split away from xiao so she could change into her new uniform, surprised at how easily she found him again when she came back into the main room. “hey xiao.” she smiled as she walked over to them, pointing a little way away from them; “i thought i saw kaito and jihye over there, should we head over?”

as kaito went to reply to jihye, he was cut off by an announcement. as jihye began to speak again, he let out a nervous laugh. “yeah. c’mon let’s go, maybe we could find the other two on our way.”

as they followed the line of trainees, kaito was once again surprised by just how many there were. it only reminded him how big the competition was and how no matter that place he ended up scoring in, then he did a good job. surely with this many trainees it was hard to land yourself in first place; kudos to whoever managed to do it.

despite the number of trainees, it was surprisingly organized and it didn’t take too long for him and jihye to receive their uniforms. kaito decided that he would never be happier to wear pink in his life. it didn’t take too long for him to change into the uniform and find jihye once again, smiling once he saw how she had changed into her uniform as well.

“well it’s official, you were born to be in a class.” he smiled at her before looking up and taking a quick glance around the room. “it would really help if we knew what class xiao and hana ended up in, then we could just look for whatever color their uniform would be.”

(that happens to me all the time! then i feel absolutely idiotic afterwards because everything i forget is something pretty easy to remember but there's not much i can do lol)

jihye walked with kaito to the table, picking up her new outfit. the wait wasn't as long as she expected, probably because they spent so little time rushing here. everyone that got there before them probably ran or sprinted their way here. who knows, maybe they even flew?

she then went on her own to change, admiring the baby pink she was given. luckily the uniform wasn't too heavy or bulky, it was very light and comfortable. at this rate, she'd never want to take it off. once jihye got her outfit settled, she placed her name tag back in it's previous place, smiling wide before leaving to find kaito again.

once she found him, she was all smiles. "well would you look at that, pink's a good color for you." she said happily, lowkey sending that as compliment that may be translated as flirtatious. pink was a good color for kaito, and even if he wasn't wearing that uniform, he should wear that color more often. jihye loved this shade of pink, she's always been a fan of the more pastel tones, so this makes her extremely happy.

"you have more luck at finding them than i do, you're tall." jihye answered as a reply to kaito's comment about wanting to find hana and xiao. "but it could be easy. they're around the same height, dark hair. okay nevemind that doesn't help." by now, everyone's starting to get mixed together and it's a lot harder to differentiate people, certainly when the most popular hair styles are darker colors. and with jihye's short height, she won't be able to see over majority of the trainees' heads. kaito's lucky he's tall.

xiao nodded and followed hana to the next room, curious as to how many people were already there. it was pretty crowded with all the trainees as is, so xiao lightly put a hand on hana's shoulder, to keep track of where she went so she couldn't get separated from him. it was a subtle motion, but xiao was proud of himself for even making an effort to interact with her, other than verbally.

once they got to their table, xiao put his hands down, receiving the new outfit, which was very yellow. very, very yellow. he changed pretty quickly and instantly united with hana once she got back. "i look like a sun." he said, looking at himself fully once again. yellow wasn't exactly his color, but he'd wear it. but only small portions of his outfits have yellow, he wasn't exactly a yellow guy. this just serves as more motivation to work up to class a. pink wasn't much better, but it was better than yellow.

at hana's point, xiao followed where she was motioning towards, nodding. "if they'd be anywhere, they'd probably be where everyone else is. let's see if we can find them." he began his search, looking over the tops of all the shorter trainees' heads. xiao might as well look for trainees in pink since he knows they're in class a, just based on their own talents. if xiao messed up and got a b, they definitely had to get into the a class. soon enough, he spotted what looks like their two friends. "i think i see them too, hopefully that's them." he commented, gently leading hana over to where his eye were taking him. from behind, it does look a lot like the two so hopefully his guess isn't far off.

hana could only laugh at xiao’s comment. a sun? she was tempted to say that she didn’t realize the sun could be so cute, but decided against it. both because it was probably overstepping the boundaries of their friendship and because she certainly didn’t want to hear any of the other trainees hear, rumours would spread quickly among the trainees.

hana was glad that yellow suited her rather well. pink would surely suit her better, the truth was the pink uniforms could suit anyone, which is probably why the color was chosen for the highest class. but she wouldn’t complain about it, wearing the yellow uniform made her much happier than she would’ve felt in the green or grey.

she followed behind xiao, making sure that she didn’t lose him in the crowd. it was bad enough that they couldn’t find kaito or jihye yet, and she didn’t want to lose xiao on top of it all; she would hate to be totally alone in the crowd.

“that is them!” she exclaimed happily as she saw kaito as he turned around, just knowing that it was jihye beside him. and she had a pink uniform on too! she took a hold of xiao’s hand, not even realizing what she had done because of her excitement. she quickly pulled him along, her smile growing as she finally reached the two.

“jihye!” she went in for a hug, quickly realizing how her fingers were entwined with xiao’s. she quickly blushed and dropped his hand, looking over at him. “sorry!” she quickly apologized before hugging jihye just as she planned. “i just knew you made it to a class, i’m so proud of you!”

as jihye complimented him, he looked down at his uniform and felt a subtle blush grow across his cheeks. “oh thank you.” he smiled, quickly shaking his head in hopes that it would chase the red color away from his face.

as she pointed out that he was, in fact, taller than her he couldn’t help but laugh. “being short must suck, huh?” he teased lightly, looking around for the two. jihye was right though, they really did blend in easily, but thankfully hana was one of the taller female trainees so it wouldn’t be too hard to spot her at least. and chances were that xiao was with her. if he found one, then he found the other.

as he turned around, he saw the two of them quickly running at them, a rather loud laugh escaping his lips. “looks like they found us, and hana looks excited to see you.” as the two got closer, he noticed the fact they were holding hands and his eyes widened. how could that have happened so quickly?

as hana went to hug jihye, kaito took that as his chance to talk to xiao. “class b? the judges must have filled all the a positions before you then, you for sure deserved to be in a class.” he shook his head slowly, a smile on his face. “i’m proud of you though.”

he decided to copy the girls, giving xiao a quick hug. he took it as his chance to whisper to the shorter boy, “and you had the nerve to tease me, look who’s holding hands already. i’ll have fun hearing you try to explain this one.” he laughed softly and pulled away, looking down at jihye and then looking back at xiao. “pink suits us, right? it won’t be too long until you and hana match us.”

jihye continued to look around, trying to spot those familiar faces. being shorter than everyone else was horrible, but did have it's advantages. jihye has always been known as "universal standing arm rest" or "mobile leaning/resting post" when it comes to the taller people. she also can't reach high shelves without help, or at least getting creative. but on the other side, hitting the tops of doorways or ceilings were never an issue for her. plus everyone always called her cute for being so little, so that's a plus.

turning around at kaito's word, she was instantly greeted by hana, embracing her in a hug like they haven't seen each other in years. "hana, i'm so proud of you! how adorable, you look like a ball of sunshine!" she said happily, admiring the yellow clothing she wore. yellow was a pretty color and those b class trainees will really make themselves prominent within the entire group just with how brightly they're dressed.

"so, how did everything go? were you as nervous as yesterday?" she questioned hana, allowing the boys to talk to each other, but still be able to join in with their conversation. they were off talking on their own, so she decided to initiate a conversation with hana. jihye thought class b was one of the best classes in the competition. while class a was the best, the only place you can possibly go is down. whereas in the other classes, you can always be moving up. it's much more motivating in jihye's opinion. to be fair, there is a lot of motivation involved to stay in class a.

to say the least, xiao was surprized when hana grabbed his hand. not that he didn't like it, he did, but it took him by surprise. but, it's still too soon to tell if she likes him the same way he likes her. all xiao could do is follow close behind, quickly approaching kaito and jihye. luckily they found each other, that'd make things a lot easier than three people trying to find one.

as hana dropped his hand and apologized, xiao smiled towards her and gave her a nod of reassurance. "don't worry, it's okay." really, it's definitely okay. the way her hand fit so gently in his, he'd do anything to have that feeling back again.

approaching kaito, he was confused as to why the other male would be hugging him, but he quickly found out why. listening to what kaito had to say, xiao wrinkled his nose, smiling embarrassingly. so he saw them holding hands, but it shouldn't matter much since he already knows about his crush on hana. although now he should watch their actions a lot more closely, if kaito wants to play this teasing game with xiao. "don't worry, it's not as interesting as you think." he quietly replied. while that does help improve their relationship in small ways, there's nothing too interesting about her grabbing his hand to go meet their friends.

listening to his friends talk, xiao couldn't help but admire the pink outfits jihye and kaito had on. he could've been there if he didn't mess up, and hana should be wearing pink as well, but the judges were more strict than he thought. maybe that's a good think. "watch out, we'll be coming for those spots soon, competition is fierce." he said jokingly, his smile wide to let the others know he was kidding, if his tone didn't give it away.

hana laughed at jihye’s comment, realizing how similar it was to what xiao had said just a few minutes ago. “xiao said that too, well he said that he looked like the sun, but close enough.” she glanced up and down jihye’s pink uniform, trying to come up with an equally adorable comment as ‘ball of sunshine’.

“i wanna say something cute too but you honestly look like a gumball.” she laughed softly, taking jihye’s hand in her own, both out of affection and so they two didn’t get separated in the ever-moving crowd. “it’s a really pretty color though, it suits you so well.”

as jihye asked about her nervousness, she shook her head softly. “well, at first i was. but honestly, after i started performing i felt like i had nothing to worry about. i messed up on the dance a little, but that’s okay. now i know what i need to focus on more now.”

she glanced over at kaito before looking back at jihye. “so i’m assuming things are going good with him?” hana didn’t mean as in a crush or dating or anything like that; she was sure that type of stuff wasn’t allowed on the show and was pretty set on following the rules. she had meant more as a friendship type of way; was he genuinely nice or just acting for the camera and to have an advantage later on in the competition? was he being nice to jihye? hana was sure if she ever caught him being anything less than nice to jihye, she would have to start swinging.

kaito pouted slightly, not as interesting as he thought? he would just have to look more often in hopes of catching something worthy of teasing xiao about. he would just have to ask how they ended up holding hands in the first place later on.

“oh no way you’re taking our spots.” he shook his head and teased back playfully. “but maybe you’ll come to our fansign when we finally debut, i’ll be sure to remember you as my biggest fan xiao.” he laughed softly before turning back to the two girls.

“how about we head back to the lobby? surely it’s less crowded there and we’ll actually be able to hear one another.” he didn’t expect a room full of mostly young adults to be silent or anything, but the noise in the room was quite honestly close to deafening.

“it’ll be nice to spend time together before we’re separated again.” when night came xiao and kaito would have to leave the girls and vise versa, and he was sure from there on out they’d be separated more often because of their different classes. kaito just hoped that the other two moved up to a class quickly.

  • byun jihye

    tumblr_okm2gvByPI1sn29lho2_r3_400.gif

jihye laughed, liking hana's comparison. she liked the idea of being compared to something as sweet as a gumball. first off, they're sweet, as mentioned, and majority of people like gumballs, right? it was a compliment either way anybody looks at it, so of course jihye would be happy. "thank you, but you deserve to look like a gumball too!" she replied, giving some varied encouragement to her friend.

listening to her friend, jihye nodded. she seemed very positive about the whole situation, which was a good thing. it's reasonable being upset about being in b class, since you worked so hard but just missed class a, but they should be happy that they weren't in c, d or even f. "ah, that's okay. either way, b is one of the best classes here. i have no doubts about you, you'll surely make it up to a class soon. if you messed up and only made it to b, surely if you nail the next performance, you'll move up to a!" jihye continued to encourage hana, hopefully making her feel better if she even was secretly upset about her placement. hana's next comment surprised jihye, leaving her eyes wide. did hana expect something to happen between her and kaito? suddenly understanding the question, jihye smiled. "oohh, yeah, we're getting along really well. he's super nice, he even waited for me after evaluations to see how i did." she told hana, complimenting the boy.

as soon as she noticed the boys were trying to talk to her and hana, jihye turned her attention over to them. "that'd be nice, i feel like i'm going to be swept away into another group soon." she said to the boys, adding a bit of humor to their current situation. after the group came to a general agreement, they all headed towards the lobby, with jihye following behind. with all of the similar clothes, it instantly became a lot harder trying to find the right people, which scared jihye. her height worked against her as she followed the group. she couldn't see over the towering trainees, and all of her friends were around that height so she feared she would start following the wrong group. before she moved any further, she quickened her pace to catch up with kaito, before loosely linking one of her arms around one of his. "i don't want to lose you," she explained to him.

    liu yixiao

    tumblr_p8tbrurCWx1vbcnwzo1_400.gif

xiao laughed, pretending to be offended by what kaito was saying. "now i'll be more motivated to take your spot! good luck, kaito." he playfully teased. "that is, if i can even go to your fansigns. do you think they'll allow another successful idol to go to one of those?" xiao laughed, feeling happy knowing he can joke with kaito carelessly.

as soon as moving was mentioned, xiao was on board. it's not that he didn't like this many other people, but with around one hundred trainees for both males and females, it does tend to feel a bit crowded. there's also the restless, rambunctious trainees from earlier who haven't quite settled down, who are still being louder than needed. not that it's a bad thing, but it does make conversations harder to have in this area. moving to the lobby would be a good place for them. after they get their first assignments, everyone's schedules will be mixed, and who knows when they'll be able to actually talk to each other? that's the bad part about this show. you meet so many fun people but as soon as the competition starts, it's like you'll never see them again. sure, you pass them by in the hallways, but everyone's so focused, it's like they turn into strangers.

like before, xiao let hana go before him, so he wouldn't have to worry about losing her. it wouldn't be hard to lose her, in his eyes, but it was also polite. he didn't just want to walk off and leave the group to follow, that'd just be rude. hana also seems to know her way around pretty easily, since she did find jihye and kaito almost instantly.

as they were walking, xiao got an idea. instead of following, he widened his steps to walk beside hana. "they seem to be getting along well." he said to hana quietly, referring to the pair of friends following behind. at this point, xiao was almost certain that jihye has to have a crush on kaito as well. it isn't the most obvious, but the way she keeps trying to hide it has been giving it away. xiao's really good at reading emotions and when people are trying to be secretive, it was surprising that kaito really hasn't seemed to catch on yet. xiao could mention it to kaito later tonight, but that reall isn't his place to interfere. mainly when kaito would instantly do the same to him.

    tumblr_p7z7soCGCv1shjnqco1_400.gif

hana was a bit surprised when xiao joined her by her side and started talking about kaito and jihye. what he was saying was right though, the other two did seem to be getting along really well. in her mind she saw them as two people that were just great friends, especially after what she just talked about with jihye. but now that xiao seemed to be referencing getting along in a different way, she could see it. she would just have to ask jihye about it later to confirm anything; in her mind it would be cute if jihye had a little crush on kaito, she might even go against the rules and try and help them get together.

she glanced at the pair behind them, instantly smiling at the sight and turning back to look at xiao. “it’s cute, don’t you think?” she asked quietly, not wanting to risk either of the two people they were talking about to hear. “who would’ve known that a survival show was the perfect place for them to find love?” she giggled and nudged him gently, continuing to lead everyone to the lobby.

if jihye really did like kaito, then that meant kaito had to like her back too. kaito was just more obvious and bold with his actions though, where jihye was the one who could cover it up more. if it wasn’t for xiao pouting out that jihye might like him in the same way, she wouldn’t have ever guessed. it was cute though, they clearly got along and looked rather adorable together. hana would do her best to make sure their little crushes would stay secret, who knows what another trainee or even worse a viewer would do with that information.

as they finally got to the lobby, she spotted four empty seats and decided it was probably best for them to sit down and rest. their schedules from there on out sounded pretty busy, so who knows when the next chance to rest would come along? she sat down, patting the seat next to her, inviting xiao to sit beside her. “he was waiting for her you know, isn’t that sweet?” she spoke quietly, watching as the other two started coming towards the seats they were sat in so they could join them.

    tumblr_inline_ov76anLh3a1u8y7g0_540.gif

before kaito could respond to anything that xiao had said, they were all headed off to the lobby. it was true that they didn’t know the next free moment they would spend together, so kaito wanted to make the most of the moment. standing around in a room full of noisy trainees was no way to spend those last few moments though. so somewhere quieter where they could like, like the lobby, was the perfect spot.

before he knew what has happening, he felt jihye’s arm brush against his. at first he thought that they just accidentally bumped into one another and was just about ready to apologize when he realized their arms were still touching; jihye had linked their arms together. because she didn’t want to lose him. he knew that she meant it as in the crowd was crazy and didn’t want to get lost in it, but the words still made his heart rate kick up. “don’t worry, i’d never let that happen.” he meant it as in he wouldn’t let her get lost in the crowd of tall and noisy trainees and that he wouldn’t let the relationship between them end. even if nothing more than a friendship bloomed between them, he was still happy just to be her friend.

as they continued walking, he nodded towards the two trainees in front of them. xiao and hana surely were a surprising duo, xiao looked more... tough. maybe it was the hair, but he didn’t share the same cute aura as hana. “they were holding hands earlier. what you’d think about that?” he didn’t ask the question with ill intentions, he was just curious of what she thought about the two of them. and perhaps he could find out what she thought about trainees dating, trainees from different companies competing against one another on top of it all. okay so maybe he asked the question not only because he wanted to know what she thought of their friends holding hands but because he wanted to know if he had any chance at all with her.

before he knew it they were in the lobby, thankful that the pair ahead of them had found somewhere for all four of them to sit. he sat down next to hana and xiao, smiling to himself as he realized the only free seat left for jihye was the one next to him. “you’re not too nervous or anything, right?” he asked her as she sat down, carefully studying her face for any signs of worry. “i know the whole competition thing can be scary, but i really think you secured yourself a debut really soon.”

  • byun jihye

    tumblr_okm2gvByPI1sn29lho2_r3_400.gif

as they walked towards the lobby, jihye couldn't help but notice her cheeks getting hot. she gave herself no time to think about what she just did, but she liked how it turned out. it's like her brain just went into auto-pilot and let whatever happen happen. granted, she was being a little daring, but daring was good, right? it was actually just as good as kaito's response made her feel. she smiled and looked around, unsure of what to do next.

but when spoke again, jihye looked interested. "they held hands?" she asked back, making sure she heard that right. "that's so cute! well, they do compliment each other a lot. verbally and physically. they say opposites attract." as soon as she said that, she thought about her and kaito. he's extremely sweet and kind, but people have said that about jihye too. they aren't complete opposites, so did she just steer him away with her comment? although, the opposites could apply to their height. tall and short are pretty popular opposites.

jihye stopped as soon as they got out to the lobby, allowing herself to fall back from the group to let them pick where to sit. coincidentally, the last seat left was next to kaito, so that's where she sat. she was smiling, until her nerves were mentioned, then she got lost in her thought. "well," she started, thinking about what to say next. "i wouldn't say any spot is secured, since things are pretty unpredictable, but i guess that's making me pretty nervous." she admitted, crossing her arms and leaning forward, her elbows resting on her knees. the unpredictability of this whole concept was terrifying to jihye, and terror only raises her nerves. what if she messes up, or is always shoved towards the back? what if she thinks she's doing well, only to be eliminated the next day? constantly worrying about these little things were a quick realization for jihye, and there's nothing she can do about it.

hana spoke quietly to him, so he had to tactfully lean in to be able to hear. he wasn't sure what she was talking about, until he looked behind his secretly to "see if they were still following." seeing kaito and jihye, xiao couldn't help but smile. kaito's going to have a fun time explaining that later. "they're just being obvious now. if neither of them can tell they like each other soon, they'll win an award for being so oblivious." he joked quietly. they did look good together, and maybe if kaito and xiao talk later, xiao can mention how jihye is quite literally about to swoon over him. and if he doesn't think so, he's got to open his eyes a little bit more.

sitting down, xiao couldn't believe what hana told him. he waited for her? so that's where he was? he's really making it obvious now. xiao's got some serious talking to do with kaito tonight. nodding his head, he replied to hana. "he would do something like that, anyone could guess he likes her." he basically admitted to hana that kaito did in fact like jihye, but again, anyone could put that puzzle together. it wasn't even a puzzle at this point, it was more of a billboard on the side of a giant building. was that what he's like to hana? was he being that obvious about his own feelings?

xiao shut up as soon as kaito and jihye sat down, making sure they heard nothing. now, he was happy to spend some time with his new friends. while he wasn't too talkative, he was very responsive with his reactions as each person spoke. it was weird how some were actually nervous, especially when they had nothing to be nervous about. it's probably just some jitters that come and go, everyone gets those. it's also hard to be nervous when the atmosphere isn't as competitive at all, at least in xiao's eyes. everyone was too nice to be intimidating to him, even if he does look intimidating himself. the whole concept probably hasn't settled in with all of the trainees yet, and they'll understand what to do later. hopefully they stay nice. they probably will for broadcasting reasons, but things can be completely different off-camera.

at xiao’s confession that kaito did like jihye, hana could only smile. she would have to tell jihye later. if xiao was right, and they did like each other and were just being oblivious, then it would be great news for jihye; how often is it that you like someone and they actually like you back?

as the four of them sat down, kaito and jihye continued talking and xiao went quiet, so hana decided to continue talking to him so he didn’t feel left out or anything. she knew how much that hurt, to be the odd one out. “you look really worried.” she commented softly, hoping that he didn’t take it the wrong way. she shifted a bit in her seat so she could get a better look at him, trying to see if she had just misread him or if he really was worried.

“you’ll be alright, i promise. all of us will be alright. we can improve and make it to class a, the other two can keep improving to make sure they can stay in class a, it’ll all be okay, i promise.” she knew there wasn’t any sure way of knowing the four of them would last long in the competition, who knows when a trainee would surprise people and break our skills they didn’t show before, who knows when a rumor could pop up and cause voters to totally hate a certain trainee; competition was fierce and unpredictable. but she just wanted xiao to feel a bit better.

“and even if you don’t debut in the final group here, who’s to say that you won’t debut soon? you made it into your company for a reason, you’re extremely talented. you’re going to have plenty of fans who are waiting for your debut, and if it’s not with the final group, then you’ll debut with a group under your company. pretty quickly too, companies are smart, they won’t want to keep your fans waiting too long.” she reached out and gently patted his knee, smiling gently at him. “and since you said you messed up the singing portion a bit, i can help you work on that. and you can help me with dancing. we can help each other out, that’s what friends do, right?”

    tumblr_inline_ov76anLh3a1u8y7g0_540.gif

when jihye brought up the whole opposites attract thing, he nodded. clearly whoever started that saying was right, just looking at hana and xiao he could tell that it was right. they were opposites, and were clearly attracted to one another. “sometimes, yeah. sometimes people tend to stick to people who are just like them.” that was true too, people sometimes tended to stick to what they knew, what they were comfortable with. that’s why people often married people who had the same career as them, or had pretty much all the same hobbies or interests; some people just weren’t sure how to be in a stable relationship with someone so different from them.

as they sat there in the lobby, kaito nodded along with her words. as much as he wanted her to be wrong, as much as he wanted to say that he was right about her having a secured spot, that just wasn’t the truth. what she was saying was right. anything could happen at anytime. that’s what made competitions so interesting, people who started from the bottom could come out on top and people who were once on top could fall before anyone knew it.

“yeah, you’re right.” he nodded, sitting back in his chair. “but there are some things that aren’t unpredictable, there’s a few things that are set in stone in this competition. for example, you already have a bunch of trainees working hard to be as good as you. your first performance had people who see talented people everyday talking, so just imagine how much viewers will love you. you also made it to class a on the first attempt, it’s not as easy thing to do. look at xiao and hana, they made small mistakes and got class b. you might make mistakes in the future, but it won’t take away from the fact you achieved great things already. and you already made friends here too, we won’t let someone else do anything that will cause you to fall from the spot you worked so hard to get to.” he paused for a moment before laughing, “i went on one of my motivational speech rants again, didnt i?”

    tumblr_okm2gvByPI1sn29lho2_r3_400.gif

listening intently, jihye almost felt like crying. he was absolutely right. there were so many good things about being here already, and jihye did work really hard to get to where she is. she shouldn't let the negativity make her more nervous than she needs to be. think of all the possibilities jihye can take advantage of here. she can try new concepts, challenge her leadership skills, and maybe even learn how to rap. things aren't as bad as she thinks they are. and when you have amazing friends, that makes everything much better.

"don't worry, it's fine," jihye smiled and chuckled. "but you're right anyways, everything's going to be fine." she added, sitting upright. facing kaito, she paused, thinking of something to say next. she couldn't help but see how laid back be looked, like nothing was bothering him, or like he wasn't even fazed by anything. seeing him like that helped ease jihye's mind. if he is fine, she can be too. being nervous would only make things worse.

"i really don't know why i've been so nervous lately. i shouldn't be, but i think everything will be okay when things actually start. maybe i'll be too busy to even worry about anything." she laughed at herself, shaking her head. "if my members heard anything i just said, they'd surely make me pay for it." they weren't exactly harmful or strict, but all five of the girls were very fixed on making sure nobody has any negative energy going into practicing or performing. it was a good mentality to have, but it is good to be able to communicate about true feelings, especially if they're getting in the way of the more important things.

xiao smiled, nodding in agreement. "definitely, i'll always be here to help you and i'll definitely come to you for help." he promised. although, he wasn't exactly sure when they'd have the time to actually sit or meet up to help each other. both of them would have commitments with their respective teams, and with the time frame they have, every moment counts.

he paused for a moment before talking again. "has your company ever had talks with you about debuting? either after this competition is over or after promotions for the temporary groups is over, is there any plan for you and the other trainees?" he was surely curious, hoping her company did have a debut for her planned in the near future. some companies send trainees to these shows even though they're already set to debut after, they just like to use the hype the shows create. it was a smart move, since it was additional training for the idols, as well as good promotion so they could do a lot less when leading up to promotions for the actual debut.

"i mean, if not, it better be soon. i've heard good things about your company, so hopefully they know what they're doing and know not to waste good talent like you." xiao said, trying not to smile too much or look overly enthusiastic for what he's saying. just like how hana tells him he already should be preparing for a debut, she could be doing the same. heck, she was already at the level of majority of the idols xiao has seen, and he couldn't see that talent go to waste because of bad management. if anything, he'd gladly make some phone calls or schedule meetings to ensure she had a debut. bad companies let go of good artists all the time, but when it involves a good friend, especially one he has a crush on, xiao instantly has a burning passion for justice.

hana blushed a bit when he said she was talented; she had heard it many times before, but coming from him meant a lot more for some reason. “yeah, we were actually supposed to debut a few weeks ago. but then our company heard about this show and figured it could do more harm then good. they told us it could help us gain more popularity, draw more attention to our official debut whether or not we win the show. and there’s always stuff we could work on, it’s giving the other girls more time to try and learn rapping, giving me time to work on dancing. it’s sad that we have to wait longer for something we already waited forever for, but it really is only helping us up our chances to succeed.” the more she thought about it, the happier she was that the group didn’t debut on their original debut date. she was bitter about it at first, the other six girls and her were all so excited to finally get out there and show everyone their skills, but if they hadn’t come on the show then less people would know about them, they wouldn’t have as much time to work on the things they lacked, and she wouldn’t have met people like jihye, kaito, and xiao.

“when we do debut though, i’ll be sure to give you a signed copy of our album. you are my first fan after all.” she smiled softly at the boy, wondering if his company had any talks about debut with him. “what about you? have they said anything about your debut? are all the other trainees that came with you going to be in the same group as you? ooh, is there any trainees that you’re supposed to debut with that didn’t come on the show?” she had already heard a few trainees talking about situations like that, it was rather interesting. hana was glad all seven of them came on the show though, she couldn’t imagine being in such a stressful situation without them. although there was the chance of them being sent home one by one, at least they all started out together; in hana’s opinion the first and last performances were always the most stressful.

“i’m sure your members would understand, in fact they’re probably nervous too. you’re all just not wanting to admit it to one another.” he knew that if he was nervous, then the other boys from his company were too. they all usually felt the same way about situations, and who wouldn’t be nervous in this one? debuting in the final group was a big opportunity that anyone would hate to lose out on.

“i’m nervous too, probably because we don’t really know what we’re up against yet. maybe some of the trainees who are in lower classes just had a bad day, they could quickly join us in a class. i think once we get a feel for what’s going on, we won’t be as nervous. and like you said, we’ll be too nervous to focus on anything besides practicing and performing.” he knew even though he was nervous, he wasn’t as nervous as everyone else around him. maybe it was because he had trained for so long, had so many times of false hope for debut, that now he could handle practically anything that was thrown at him now. if he didn’t debut with the final group, that just meant he could get back home and debut with the group he would end up with anyways. if he did debut in the final group, cool, he could get more popularity and experience for his group then. either way, it was a win win situation for him.

“and i know we’ll be pretty busy from here on out, but just remember that i’m always here to talk. even if you gotta like write me a note or something and slip it to one of the other kids from my company to give to me, or even tell hana to give it to xiao so he can give it to me. we’ll find some way to talk, i’ll find some way to always make you feel better.” he sat up a little more, so he was closer to jihye. “and you know what? if i get voted off and you’re still here, just know i’m going to get everyone i know to always vote for you. not that you’ll need any help though, i’m sure when the first episode airs your name will be trending on so many sites, you’re going to have so many people ready to love and support you.”

tenor.gif?itemid=8086108(just a question, but what should the show be called? i kind of feel like i'm constantly repeating myself when i constantly say "the show" or competition... also i'm just sneakily changing jihye's hair color to a lighter shade just because i can hehe)

jihye smiled, gratitude almost flooding out of her. kaito's compassionate actions really gave the girl butterflies,, and if he talked any more, she probably would've cried. nobody has ever complimented her so much, and they just met yesterday. that really says a lot about kaito's character, and jihye will do anything to make sure they don't lose contact.

"i don't know what you're talking about because you're surely not getting eliminated, but thank you for saying that. nobody's ever been this nice to me, but you just met me and are already so compassionate. you'd surely be popular here, among the trainees and the viewers. it surprises me that you'd rather sit here and talk to me than be with the other trainees. but i'm glad you haven't gotten bored of me, because i really like talking to you and i hope we can keep in touch, even after this whole thing ends." she confessed, cringing at herself because of her words.

"twenty minutes left until you'll all be called for the next schedule!" jihye's head shot up at the announcement, confused. how much time had passed? it feels like they just got done with evaluations, they should definitely have more time, right? not just twenty minutes? but then again, twenty minutes is still a long time, depending how you look at it. jihye quietly began to wish over and over again that time would go slowly, just so she'd be able to spend more time with her friends.

eyes wide, xiao tilted his head. she was already going to debut? that explains how she already looks so ready to debut. "you already would've debuted? weren't you upset when they cancelled it, or moved it?" he asked, genuinely curious. if it was xiao, he would've been so upset if he found out his debut was going to be cancelled. if he worked hard and was told he would debut soon, wouldn't that be one of the best moments of his life, something to look forward to? and to have that be taken away, that would be devastating. then again, if she had debuted, there'd be no way he would have met her. he wouldn't be sitting here talking to her now. he wouldn't have held her hand.

"hm, let's see." xiao started, looking up in thought. "i was told i'd debut in a group of four, with one of the other trainees here and two other trainees who aren't participating. but that just kept getting delayed and more trainees kept coming in and they had trouble deciding who was fit to debut and who wasn't. as of right now, i'm still not sure, but hopefully the company can figure out something soon. if anything, i do have the hope to debut from this competition, but that's not certain." he explained. xiao's been through a wild ride with his company. the debut group of four quickly turned to six, then seven, and it was currently at a hopeful eleven at the moment. sure, they could all debut, but with the amount of training some need, that could take a while and xiao honestly didn't know if he'd have that kind of time waiting. idols are always debuting at young ages, and if they debut at an older age, they haven't been known to do well with the public. sure there's some special cases, but that's called a special case for a reason.

(( this isn’t really a creative name at all but maybe lucky ten? maybe the final group could have ten members so maybe that’s the reason behind the name?

and i was also thinking that we could timeskip soon, maybe after their first cover performances ?

i changed kaito’s hair to a lighter color too; jihye and kaito are the light haired couple and xiao and hana are the dark haired couple ))

“i was at first, but now knowing what it’s like here, i would’ve hated to not have this opportunity. besides if i already debuted what are the chances we would’ve met? let alone become as close as we are now.” she listened to xiao talk about his situation once she was done talking about hers, completely understanding all of his worries and frustration. companies did really well when they did well, but when they were messing up, they messed up big time. and a common problem was getting group lineups perfect and knowing when the right time to debut a group was. some groups debuted too early and didn’t make it because they weren’t ready, some groups debuted too late and missed out on perfect opportunities to be well known.

she then heard the announcement that they only had twenty minutes left, softly sighing in reply. it felt like only seconds had passed since they made it to the lobby, she really didn’t want to leave xiao’s side. she really enjoyed talking to him. but the competition had to start eventually, and truthfully she couldn’t wait to get things rolling.

“i can promise you that if you don’t debut with this group, you’ll debut within a year and a half at maximum with your company. it would be stupid to let you stay a trainee for much longer, you have so much talent and with this show you’ll be gaining popularity. even if you have to have a solo debut, a debut is gonna happen for you.”

nobody had ever been this nice to jihye? kaito found it really hard to believe. he knew he was a naturally kind person, but the idea that no one else was ever so nice to someone like her was mind blowing. she was so sweet, talented, and much much more. it was hard to believe that there wasn’t a group of people complimenting her everyday.

“i can promise you that we’ll be friends until we’re old. i really like talking to you too, and i don’t want to stop just because the show does. no matter what the outcome of this all is, i promise i’ll stay in contact with you every day that i can.” he was sure that even if neither of them debuted in the final group, their individual groups from their companies would have to promote at the same time; that would give them an excuse to meet up and talk in person. and even when they couldn’t do that, they always had phones so they could stay in constant contact.

kaito was surprised when he heard the announcement. had it already been that long that it was finally time to get back to things? he guessed that time did go by quickly when you had fun, and he was having a majorly fun time just talking to jihye. “if we head back early we can avoid the crowds.” he pointed out, hoping she would agree. while he was right about the crowd thing, he mostly just wanted a moment alone with her. there wasn’t anything he had to say that they had to be alone for, not so soon in their friendship anyways, but the idea of it just being the two of them made his heart race.

(lucky ten is a good name, and i like the idea of having a top ten, it sounds a lot better than nine or eight or anything like that.

we can definitely timeskip! also, sorry this post is a little shorter than usual, i feel completely drained and i need to sleep but i wanted to get this posted first so i wouldn't forget!)

jihye could only smile, happy that kaito had agreed with her. people like kaito only come around every so often, and letting them slip away would be a mistake. there's not many people in the world now who are so kind, everyone's more invested in themselves and their own personal gain, it's hard to tell who's genuine or not, but jihye could instantly tell kaito was genuine.

thinking, jihye nodded her head. "uh yeah, that'd be good. let's go." she said softly, slowly standing up from her spot. turning to hana and xiao, she stretched her arms, a little tired. "we're going to go so we can get there a little early," jihye informed them, so they wouldn't think the two were just leaving randomly. this would also be a good time for hana and xiao as well, since jihye had an idea of what was going on between them. they didn't need any extra help, but a little alone time wouldn't hurt.

after that, jihye followed kaito out, quickly bouncing to walk beside him. "it's starting so soon, let's get this going." she said excitedly, feeling like she could bounce off the walls at any moment. she doesn't know how, but it's like she got a second wind and now she was as energized as ever. maybe it's the feeling of the first 'mission' starting or what, but she felt like she was back to her original, energized self.

"hey, maybe in the future we can see each other at music shows if we both promote at the same time." xiao suggested, chuckling. the thought of them two promoting at the same time was a fun thought. imagine all the fun and mischief they'd cause when they had free time. plus, xiao being able to watch hana perform on television in front of all of her fans? granted, he'd be able to do that here, but post-debut was a whole different feeling.

xiao gave kaito a questioning, but understanding look as the two left. even if kai wasn't going to do anything, xiao still kind of understood what he was going for. like, they just sat down and now they're already leaving? twenty minutes early? kai really has his mind set on spending as much time as he can with jihye, and xiao understood that perfectly since he was in the same boat.

as the two left, xiao sighed. "i feel like i'm watching a television series play out right in front of me." he said, referring to jihye and kaito. their oblivion to each other was slightly comedic to him, but just a little bit more than he found it to be cute. it was the perfect cliche, and that only allowed xiao to think about his situation. was he the same way? was he being oblivious to hana's actions? does she like him as well? he'd like to assume she does, but his assumptions could always be wrong.
