  • We've got to hold on, to what we've got — JasperStar — WindClan —

JasperStar leaped onto the Tall rock, as the time had come for a kit to become an apprentice. While he knew that the kit had been hoping to become a medicine cat, Cloudcatcher had picked who he'd thought was best for the job. Unfortunately, that hadn't been Haykit. But who knew, maybe someday he would become medicine cat. As morbid to think about as it was, WindClan didn't have the greatest track record for keeping medicine cats. "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the Tall Rock for a clan meeting." JasperStar called, looking out at his clan mates as they gathered. Well, if Haykit was still upset about having to become a warrior apprentice, maybe the mentor JasperStar had in mind would be able to cheer him up. "The time has come for a kit to be made an apprentice. Haykit, please step forwards."

    // Shmevin

  • Haykit was indeed upset about not being a medicine cat, but he stepped forwards none the less. As he was padding towards tall rock, he tried to cheer himself up. “I guess this won’t be so bad. Being a medicine cat is all about helping people, so is being a warrior.” Haykit looked up at the leader of windclan

Ironclaw watched from the sidelines, happy that he was at least agnologing jasperstar’s order.

JasperStar nodded, happy that Haykit was trying to see the bright side of the situation. "Haykit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Haypaw. Your mentor will be Ironclaw. I hope he will pass down all he knows on to you." The two of them spent so much time together already, that JasperStar figured they were a perfect fit. "Ironclaw, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have received excellent training from your own mentor, and you have shown yourself to be patient and diligent. You will be the mentor of Haypaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to him."

That was one apprentice down, but there were more to come. "Thinkit, Skunkkit, and Featherkit, please come forwards." The leader meowed, awaiting the trio. They were all much older than six moons, but either their previous mentors had disappeared, or something else had happened so that they still needed mentors.

  • Haypaw nodded. In any other circumstance, his usual boundless energy would have shown through. He would have probably run around the clearing in excitement. but the new apprentice was subdued by disappointment. He felt...gray. However, the announcement of who his mentor was to be did put a tad bit of a smile on his face. Bowing his head, he said “I’ll try my best” before padding over to join ironclaw.

Ironclaw on the other hand, felt honored. Bowing his head, he spoke to the leader. “I will mold him to become a great protector of windclan, this I promise you.” He avoided using the term warrior intentionally, lest it strike a nerve within his new apprentice.

When haypaw reached his side, ironclaw wrapped his tail around him in an attempt to comfort him. They both sat down and haypaw subtly moved closer to his mentor, resting his head on the bigger cat’s shoulder. Although he was far to proud to admit it. He was overjoyed at the fact that someone who knew him so well would train him. Out of the view of any other cat, he mouthed the words “thank you” to jasperstar.

  • Hawkclaw

IT'S A BETTER PLACE SINCE YOU CAME ALONG

Both Hawkclaw and Lightningtooth were present at the meeting. "Congratulations." She purred to Haypaw and Ironclaw, as well as her own three children. I never thought this day would come... They had only been three moons old when they disappeared in the fire. Now they were back, they were alive, they were safe... And Hawkclaw would do her best to protect them. She would never, ever let anything happen to them again.

    "Speech."

  • Skunkkit

His ears perked upon hearing his name along with his sister's he glanced towards his siblings in silence, his thin tail ticking anxiously, so this was the moment? His blue gaze shifted to Hawkclaw before looking towards Jasperstar, the black and white tom stood up then would approach along side his siblings. They all had missed out on kit-hood here but maybe they'd actually have time as apprentices before something terrible happened.

//Whoever's up for mentoring him I suppose

  • Thinpaw felt a twinge of pride at her ability to suppress the jolt that threatened to course through her body at the call of her name from the Tall Rock. It was sudden and rather daunting, she'd admit, but she'd known it woudl only be a matter of time before she and her siblings' ranks were finally updated. If they hadn't been separated so long ago, they'd have almost been warriors by now, but the she-cat cast that thought away deftly. There was no use dwelling on the past, after all.

She ventured over to Jasperstar, standing in close proximity to the larger Skunkkit's side for unspoken moral support. The young she-cat forced herself to raise her chin a slight, scrounging up whatever confidence was left in her scrawny frame to express some semblance of pride, in their return and their promotion just a few words away. She awaited further instructions quietly, eyes flickering from her paws to the gaze of their leader every so often, unable to sustain eye contact for very long lest she lose that facade of confidence.

(ditto; whoever you see fit to mentor her, i'll be fine with :>)

  • I'LL BE THE ONE PULLING THE STRINGS —

Cloudcatcher hung around at the back, not wanting to be around Haykit--well, Haypaw now. He knew how badly the kid wanted to be his apprentice, but... Cloudcatcher shook his head. He had his reasons and they were reasons that no one would know, because it wasn't their business.

Sighing, the medic returned from his thoughts into the present, absentmindedly chanting the new apprentice's names as they came up.

  • //Bear can take one of them as well, if needed.

Bearstorm padded forward, taking a seat with interest as he listened closely. It seemed many kittens were getting ready for apprenticehood, which was certainly a good thing. He nodded in approval as Jasperstar completed the first ceremony, offering Haypaw a small smile. He would do great. He was sure of it.

  • You gotta stand up tall, give them something to say

/morn can take another apprentice if there isn't enough mentors to go around!

this was his first meeting since coming to windclan, and he was unsure on how he felt about it. hesitantly, the male would stumble forth, evergreen oculars idly swiping the crowd. he stood alone, but he was attentive towards the announcements being made. he was glad that those lost kittens, who returned as apprentices, were finally getting as such. he couldn't imagine having been stuck as a kit for so long, even if it was just in title. there were meaning experiences one went through as an apprentice, and although his memories during his own time period weren't happy, he was sure his would hopefully differ from theirs.

  • she excitedly watched from the nursery as the ceremonies were done, eyes bright and ears perched forward so she wouldn't miss any detail. the pregnant she cat stuck close to the nursery in fear of kitting any day now, her stomach was growing larger and larger and sharp pains threatened her every day.

but despite these pains she still was excited to see kits become apprentices.

  • It was a bit strange to have found out more time than she’d thought had gone by. Her and her siblings were old enough to be about warriors but they hadn’t even started training yet! Featherkit did feel slightly self-conscious in this regard, although that was unlike herself. They’d probably be the oldest apprentices ever, right? Still, since she was older, she was going to give it her all and hopefully speed up the process. She couldn’t wait to be a warrior!

The femme glanced at her littermates as their names were called. Even though she’d just witnessed Haykit - er, Haypaw - become apprenticed, she seemed frozen for a moment. Only after Skunkkit and Thinkit had stepped forward did she also. She stood proudly beside the others, pushing to the back of her mind the fact that the whole Clan was watching. So what if they weren’t six moons? This was still special.

  • A sleek form would slide in to the back of the crowd, settling easily. Her one ear had been torn off long ago, and she still felt absolute betrayal and rage towards the disappeared Asterstar. It shouldn’t be Jasperstar up there, he was a rogue, a no clanner.

  • Hawkclaw

IT'S A BETTER PLACE SINCE YOU CAME ALONG

Hawkclaw offered a friendly smile at Pantherstrike. She thought that the bengal had disappeared moons ago. She looked angry; it was possible that she still missed Asterstar. I understand how it feels to lose someone you love, she thought, glancing over at her kits. Maybe she would introduce them to their father's mate, it might cheer her up.

    "Speech."

  • We've got to hold on, to what we've got — JasperStar — WindClan —

//okay, Thin and Heather to Morning, and Skunk to Bear, if that's good with everyone?

JasperStar saw the words mouthed to him by Haypaw, and gave a small smile. Once the three others had stepped forwards, he continued the ceremony. "Thinkit, Skunkkit, and Heatherkit, you have all reached an age of well over six moons, but have not yet received your mentors. Thinkit, from this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Thinpaw. Your mentor will be Morningfrost. I hope he will pass down all he knows to you." JasperStar turned to Heatherkit now. "Heatherkit, from this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Heatherpaw. Your mentor will also be Morningfrost. I hope he will pass down all he knows to you." JasperStar hoped Morningfrost would be able to handle two apprentices, but he had faith in the warrior that he could. "Morningfrost, you are ready to take on these two apprentices. You have received excellent training from your own mentor, and you have shown yourself to be skillful and dedicated. You will be the mentor of Thinpaw and Heatherpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to them."

That left Skunkkit, and JasperStar had a warrior in mind for him as well. "Skunkkit, from this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Skunkpaw. Your mentor will be Bearstorm. I hope he will pass down all he knows on to you. Bearstorm, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have received excellent training from your own mentor, and have shown yourself to be strong and skilled in battle. You will be the mentor of Skunkpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to him." JasperStar thought that was the end of all the ceremonies, but lingered on the rock just in case.

Hesitance in all movements, calculating where to sit to draw the least attention. Today is likely the day she will also become an apprentice, under a different leader than she had grown up to believe. Cautiously calling the new names out, wondering if saying them slowly will slow down the inevitable.

// talonkit to be turned to talonpaw and mentored by lightningtooth ;0

  • We've got to hold on, to what we've got — JasperStar — WindClan —

Ah, that's right, Talonkit needed to be apprenticed, and Condorpaw was ready to become a warrior. "Talonkit, please step forwards." He meowed, briefly wondering who should mentor the she kit. Perhaps... Perhaps Lightningtooth. JasperStar had seen how his deputy was acting differently lately, but maybe having an apprentice to take care of would bring him back to reality. "You have reached the age of six moons, and are ready to receive a mentor. Talonkit, from this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Talonpaw. Your mentor will be Lightningtooth. I hope he will pass down all he knows to you." JasperStar looked to his deputy now, hoping to see a happy expression, rather than a neutral or angry one. "Lightningtooth, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have received excellent training from your own mentor, and you have shown yourself to be quick and determined." He couldn't bring himself to say loyal. Not yet. "You will be the mentor of Talonpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to her." With that, JasperStar searched the crowd of cats for a young she cat, whom he knew was definitely ready to become a warrior. "Condorpaw, please come forwards."

One last steady breath before moving forwards, tail curled close to her legs, not looking up as eagerly as the rest of the kits. Time to become an apprentice, to be mentored by a clan she's not sure she belongs in. Her eyes flicker to Lightningtooth, the dark tabby whos name has been murmured around camp like a curse word. The way Jasperstar says the ceremony is different, a word being keenly left out. Her heart sinks.

A Darkclan kitten to be mentored by an unloyal Windclan deputy. What a ride. "Hello, mentor." She murmurs, reaching her head forwards to gently tap noses with Lightningtooth, not meeting his eyes.

  • Thinpaw—she was an apprentice, finally!—tentatively stepped toward her newfound mentor, though a glimmer of excitement brightened her stormy blue eyes significantly. It wasn't to say, however, that the persistent anxiety did not amplify as she inclined her head toward Morningfrost, eyes nearly squinted like she was wired to flinch away from the anticipated contact. She'd observed this tradition from her place in the Nursery so long ago, but she'd never expected how dauntingly monumental it would feel.
