  • Sayomi miles softly at her, somewhat glad she ended up staying after all. But he was so scared too.

“Every time I close my eyes I see the faces of my friends... my mother... dying at the hands of angels. If it’s to get to me, they’re willing to kill anyone who gets in the way. For awhile I negotiated peace for awhile. But in the end that too backfired.” He was starting to drift off. He just wanted to talk until he did.

“I didn’t want you to join them. Because you’re become so... important... to me... please don’t... leave me too...” He whispered the last part as he slipped into sleep, exhaustion taking over him.

  • Day frowned as she heard these words from Sayomi, gently holding his hand as he slipped into sleep, staying with him and doing her best to stay awake, still drained from her burns and doing her best not to nod off.

  • Sayomi slept relatively peacefully, only occasionally making a face of distress. But days presence seemed to quickly calm him. For the first time in awhile he was actually able to get a decent sleep.

Abby entered the room quietly, coming to stand next to day.

“He start screaming yet?” She almost said it like a joke but Sayomi had screamed in his sleep before.

  • Day had almost ended up falling asleep as well before Abby's voice made her gasp and give a soft jolt, squeezing Sayomi's hand just a bit before calming. "Oh, hi, Abby... No, he's actually been calm for the most part." She whispered back, glad to be able to calm the man like this.

  • She walked around Day, bending over to look at his face. “Maybe that’s why he’s always sleeping around.” She mumbled. “Humans have this sort of... power over him. He can’t get enough of them. It’s strange.” She leaned back again, looking at day. “Are you... gonna leave? Sayomi told me about his plan to make you leave... that you wouldn’t be safe here.”

  • Day couldn't help the blush that came to her face as Abby mentioned Sayomi's habit of bringing people home, though she was glad the topic was changed. "...No. I'm staying. I did my best to tell him no, and Ellias ended up coming in and backing me up... I wouldn't want to leave you all. It was my choice to put myself in danger. I could have driven off with Yui, he wanted me too, but I knew I had to help him." She then gave a soft chuckle, looking back to Abby now. "I doubt either of those angels like me very much now... I did kind of throw the boy into the other. Even if I did leave, I'm sure they wouldn't let what I did slip past them."

  • “The boy.” Abby looked troubled, almost sad.

“It’s probably not easy growing up like that. Angels don’t exactly seem the most loving.” She muttered. “I can’t help but pity him...” She reaches out to Sayomi brushing his hair out of his face while she mumbled.

“If that kid is as strong as Sayomi says then Yui is in a lot of danger. For some reason they’re hell bent on killing their look alikes. Their doppelgängers. I think it’s some kind of proof of strength or right of passage? I dunno...”

  • Day thought for a few moments before giving a soft sigh and closing her eyes. "I don't understand why they're so intent on killing your kind... Neither of you seem that different other than mentality." She gave a soft yawn and now opened her eyes to look up at Abby. "... I'm glad I saw Sayomi rather than his brother that night... I don't think that he'd be as kind to me seeing his wings."

  • “Etsuko, right? Sayomi speaks of him fondly despite them being doppelgängers. Unlike other winged people Sayomi and Etsuko were raised together. Still Etsuko ordered the kid not to kill you right? Maybe he’s also fond of humans?” She wondered. Sayomi groaned a bit and opened an eye.

    “Sorry did we wake you?”

“What are you two talking about?”

    “Well... you...”

  • Sayomi, still half asleep, wrapped an arm around her neck and pulled her a little closer with a tired mumble.

    “Just stay here... right here...”

Abby almost seemed to glare at them.

“Alright you big baby, let her go. She’ll stay right here okay?” Abby untangled his arms from her neck.

“Don’t forget she’s injured too.” But he was already fast asleep again.

  • Day gave a soft gasp and winced as he pulled her closer, feeling a pain in her back and doing her best to suppress it. "Ah- Careful..." She mumbled, looking to him as he fell asleep once more. She gave a soft sigh before looking back to Abby. "...Is he usually like this when he's trying to sleep? A bit... Clingy?" Day gave a soft chuckle at this, seeming to only be teasing and making conversation.

  • “Not with us...” she muttered. “But with the people he brings over to sleep with...” she shrugged knowing Day was a bit uncomfortable with that subject.

“Honestly I rarely see him sleep so peacefully. It’s like you have some magic power to keep his night terrors at bay. I pity him but after nearly 30-40 years of dealing with them it’s pretty hard to care. There’s not much we can do but comfort him afterwards.”

  • Day looked to Sayomi again, concern on her features. "Oh... I-I haven't really done anything other than hold his hand and stay by him. But if it makes him feel better, I suppose..." She then hesitated and looked to Abby once more, what she had just said now sinking in. "Wait, that long? You certainly don't look near that old." She replied, still unaware of their ages.

  • She smirked.

“Sayomi is about 106 years old. Don’t tell him I told you that he’ll get self conscious. We don’t know how old Trinity is... I think Elias said he’s around 340. I’m pretty young compared to everyone else. Well except Yui.” She looked a bit sad and went over to the window, watching the youngster who had gone outside to practice again.

“They’re our hope for the future. The last child of our kind, as far as we know. Honestly it would only be responsible for Sayomi to have a child at this point. He’s the only male... you know able to at this time. He says he’s not ready to be a dad but it isn’t about being ready you know? We’re being hunted. We could be wiped out in an instant with so few of us.”

  • Day listened to all of this with worry beginning to well in her chest once more. "This is... Really all of you then? From what you know, anyway?" She asked, watching the woman's back for a few moments more before looking down to Sayomi's sleeping figure. She did have to admit, as the appointed 'leader' of the small group, he did seem somewhat... unfit, in ways. He was capable, though, she was able to see that before in the church. "... It probably would be for the best, but... That would also take someone else out of commission, wouldn't it?" She asked, now looking back to her. She wasn't quite sure who exactly Abby was thinking of to carry a child, but taking someone out of the fight for that seemed dangerous as well.

  • Abby paused again. She made a good point.

“It’s true... not to mention Darkwing gestation period can be a little... unpredictable. But we stayed hidden for 11 years since tradgedy struck before. There was time. Now it’s too late. If he only listened to me...” she turned to him sadly.

“If we can rebuild our ranks, rebuild our army, then we can fight back again. It won’t be like last time we can... we can take our freedom. But if there are no more darkwings to recruit to our cause that only leaves one option...”

  • Day frowned, feeling an almost hopeless air fall in the room. "I... I wish I could do something more... Help you all in a better way. At this point, knowing what your facing, I doubt my help as really done much toward the big issue at all..." She thought for a while trying to think before looking back up to Abby. "Maybe... Maybe you all could teach me how to fight as well, make me a bit more useful with all of this?... I-I could sit in with Yui's lessons. I know I don't have any magic, and I'm not as strong, but... I feel like I should be able to do something more."

  • She hummed at that, leaning against the windowsill as she spoke.

“Well... you’ll have to ask Elias and Sayomi about that. Elias is in charge of history lessons and stuff and Sayomi is in charge of the more... combat oriented lessons. I’m sure Sayomi will be fine now that he’s out. Why don’t you go find Elias and ask him?” She suggested. “I’ll stay with him.”

  • Day hesitated, looking down to Sayomi for a moment and hoping she was right before letting go of Sayomi's hand and standing up. "Alright, I'll go and find him... Let me know if you need me at all" She then turned and left the room, heading off in searcharge of Elias.
