  • Yui pauses hearing her whimpers of pain. Slowly they started coming back to the house, looking sheepish.

“Please don’t tell them I was practising without Sayomi...” he whimpered. “He’ll be mad... I don’t wanna make him mad when he’s hurt.” They sniffled wiping at their eyes again. “Are you okay?”

  • Day walked up to Yui and gently hugged them, shaking her head. "I'm okay, Yui, really... But I don't want you to blame yourself for this, okay?... I got hurt because I don't know how to fight, not because of you. And don't worry, I won't tell... I just want you to be careful and not set anything on fire, okay?" She teased, gently kissing the top of their head.

  • Yui whimpered and pushed her away tearing up again. “No! You got hurt because of me! You don’t understand... me and him, we we’re created at the same time. We should be the same strength. This is all because I slacked off.” They buried their head in their hands, sobbing. “I wasn’t strong enough to stand up to him!”

  • Day frowned as Yui said this, a determined look coming to her face. "Then you can get strong enough. You can only learn from this, Yui, but if you're blaming yourself for my injuries then you're only going to slow your progress down more... Whether you were as strong as him or not, I still would have jumped in to help either you or Sayomi. I made the choice to protect you, and I'm not going to take that back or blame someone else for that choice." She then tried to pull Yui's hands from their face, trying to wipe away their tears. "I don't want you thinking that you hurt me. That's not true... I'm hurt, but not by your hand. You're such a good kid, Yui, I don't want you to hurt over this."

  • Yui was taken aback by this, what she was saying made sense and they let her take their hands away from their face. They hugged her again, tightly.

“I’m sorry! I’m sorry you got hurt!” They sobbed, but were also relieved that Day was here with them and she was okay.

  • Day smiled and hugged them back like a doting parent. "It's okay, Yui... I'm going to be fine. I'm just happy that you're here, and you're safe..." She replied, gently ruffling their hair with a soft giggle.

  • Yui smiled again and stopped their tears, feeling comfort in days arms.

“Everything alright out here?” Abby asked as she stepped outside looking exhausted.

“Sayomi wanted to see you... is everything okay.?” She looked at Yuis swollen eyes and tear stained face with concern.

“Oh kiddo... come here.” She almost cooed and came over to also give them a hug.

  • Day let Yui go and stood at her full height again with a groan of pain at her back, turning to Abby now. "I came out here to check on them, and they were worried that we got hurt on their account." She replied, though the smile she gave faltered a bit. She couldn't deny that she felt it was her fault instead, having brought them all to be trapped in the church in the first place.

  • Abby shook her head and turned to Yui.

“It isn’t your responsibility to fight them. It’s your responsibility to be safe and happy.” She looked at them a bit sadly. Yui screwed up their brows in concern. But Abby sighed and smiled taking hold of their hand.

“Let’s make Sayomi some food to help him get better. Day... you should go see him.”

  • Day hesitatedbefore giving a nod and excusing herself, slowly making her way through the house to Sayomi's room. Once there she gave a soft knock. "Sayomi?... It's me, Day... Can I come in?"

  • “Yes.” Came Sayomis reply. He was laying in bed, hand resting on his bandaged wound. He looked grim and was gripping a paper in his other hand.

“Day... I need to talk to you about something.” He said quietly.

“I... want you to leave. I brought you into my world in order to protect you... or maybe I just wanted to play hero I don’t know. But you’re not safe here. This isn’t your fight. I’ve written you the address of a human friend.” He held out the slip of paper.

“If we take your memories the purewings will have no use for you anymore. You’ll be safe.”

  • Day's eyes widened and the color drained from her face. "Wh... What?" She mumbled, looking down to the slip of paper with confusion and horror. "B-But, I... I made my own choice then to protect Yui, I got hurt because I made the choice to help!" She protested, looking up to him before now looking down again to the paper, unsure of why she would need it.

  • Sayomi let out a shaky breath, like he was trying not to cry.

“Day... as long as you’re here you’re in danger. I cannot protect you. My priority has to be Yui. Day you will die. If you stay here you will die. They will kill you. My brother may not want to kill humans but the other angels are a different story. If your not someone they can control or anyone will notice went missing then they’ll have no qualms killing you. Just like my mother.” He pressed the paper into her hand, firmly. “Please...”

  • Day bit her lip and held Sayomi's hand as he handed her the paper, not letting him pull away. "But... B-But I don't want to forget about you, or any of the others, a-and I don't want to go back to how things were before, what if I need you?... Wh-What if I'm lost, or I... I-I..." her voice drifted off and she stood there quietly for a few moments, just staring down at his hand until she finally met his eyes again, her own brimmed with tears. "... I want all of you to be safe as well... I-I... I don't want to forget, I don't want to be alone again..."

  • He looked at her sadly, squeezing her hand tight. “I can’t bear to lose anyone else... I’m not able to protect you, Yui, and Elias.”

“Oh don’t you worry about me.” A voice spoke up as the door opened and the elder shuffled in, kicking feathers aside.

“Elias?! I didn’t even think you could find my room.”

“I just followed the sound of utter despair.”

Sayomi sighed. “This is a private conversation-“

Elias waved his hand as if to brush off what he was saying.

“Phooey. You plan to get rid of one of our own without consulting the others.”

Sayomi paused. “I... am your king.”

“So you think every decision you make is right? And what if they come for her anyway?”

  • Day whipped around and gave a soft gasp as she realized that Elias was there, feeling a smile start to creep onto her face as Elias called her one of their own, glad that the elder had thought of her in such a way. She then looked back to Sayomi, taking the paper from him and setting it on his nightstand, still holding his hand as she looked back at him. "He's right, Sayomi... I think at this point, I'd be safer knowing the danger I might be in. At least then I can prepare for it... If I forget, they could still come after me and hurt me, just to try and get at you."

  • Sayomi looked between them, a tired look in his eyes.

“Really? Your both serious right now?”

Elias chuckled. “If you weren’t planning on keeping her you shouldn’t have brought her here.”

Sayomi heaved a heavy sigh and threw his arms up in the air.

“Fine. Fine. I’ll let her stay...”

Elias smiled at her direction and gave a wink.

“Don’t hold it against him. He really was considering what’s best for you.”

Sayomi layed back, looking at her with exhaustion. He had dark circles under his eyes.

“If things get really bad just... do what you did before. Take Yui and run. Yui is the last child of our kind. They are the future of our people... if we have one.”

Elias clicked his tongue. “And I thought I was depressing. You’ve exhausted your magic. You have to sleep it off. Here, Day can stay by your side until you wake. That’ll keep the nightmares at bay.”

  • Day gave Elias a smile and nodded. "Thank you, Elias... I'm glad you think I belong here..." She then looked down to Sayomi and gave a soft chuckle. "And don't worry... I'm here to help take care of everyone here, remember?... And I can stay with you like Elias suggested, too, if you'd like...?" She asked, then taking a seat on the edge of the bed and putting a supportive hand to his arm.

  • Elias turned, shuffling back out of the room.

“God. He’s such a... dad.” He grumbled and settled back.

“My... nightmares are really bad. Are you sure you wanna stay for that?” He asked, afraid. “I’ve woken up screaming before. That’s the reason why Yui is banned from this room. I don’t want to scare you...” he mumbled, closing his eyes. Needing to rest. He hadn’t slept since they came back from church.

  • Day gave a soft chuckle and nodded. "Trust me, I've been through my fair share of nightmares as well... Don't worry about it okay? What you need to do is sleep. I'm going to stay in the room in case you need me, okay? Just get some rest." She then stood from the bed, walking over to a chair in the room and brushing the feathers off of it before bringing it to his bedside and sitting down in it, wincing somewhat as the back of the chair touched her wounds.
