— Warrior's Leap. Two massive boulders where cats could amuse themselves by trying to jump the distance. Among the apprentices, it was something of an achievement to leap the gap: they generally weren't as big as warriors, offering an added challenge to an already difficult jump. Too many 'paws had limped away with fractured bones. Robinpaw had never been one of them, for the simple reason that he'd never attempted the jump.
The marbled red tabby still remembered his first day by the stones. He'd come with his sister, recently after the two of them had becomes apprentices. Emberpaw had challenged him to jump, but he'd been too scared. Robinpaw might have had their parents' large, muscular physique, but he didn't think he was quite large enough to get over the gap. Instead, the boy had watched Emberpaw try, and then had supported her as she made her way to the medicine cat, paw neatly snapped.
This time, as he climbed the familiar boulder, Emberpaw wasn't at his side. She hadn't been for nearly a moon, since she'd abandoned DarkClan for the city. The betrayal still stung, but what could he do about it? Their father had been determined to bring her back, but when Vipertooth had emerged from the city, he was bleeding heavily from a poorly ended fight with a pair of dogs, and no news of his daughter. If Vipertooth couldn't do it, Robinpaw wasn't even going to try.
Making his way to the top of the stone, the massive apprentice cautiously peered over the edge. The drop still turned his stomach, and he quickly pulled his head back, nausea rising in his throat. Ugh. To think that cats actually did this.
