  • OOC: Not at all! Also don't worry about matching the length of this post, just write as much as you usually would and I'll try to match yours c:

OC: Sol sat up from the mattress he'd lain down on a few hours before. Although it was laid on the ground beside hundreds of others, it was comfortable enough. He stood up and stretched, already feeling the tense aura that the air had.

The annual Hunt was coming up; the tally marks in stark white on the walls showed that clearly. Only a few days left, and the humans were almost in a panic. They were docile for the most part, but there was much to be said for instinct.

Sol felt the anxiety inside himself, and he knew that he just had to get out of there. He was a little better than most at sneaking, due to his quiet nature, but he knew instinctively that it would be hard to get past the guards. But he wouldn't let himself be a sitting duck.

With determination in his heart, he started to move casually through the crowds of humans towards a lesser-known entrance into the castle above.

  • Felipe sat back book raised up to his face, but his eyes were looking over the top of the book to the vampires excitedly bustling about the sitting room all talking to one another. A few vampire families had come in for the annual hunt. The anticipation was contagious. He shrugged slipping a bookmark in between the pages of his book and stood up. He wasn't going to get any peace here. The vampire maneuvered his way towards the exit, being slowed down every few feet by others buzzing up to have a word with him. He smiled his toothy smile and said a word or two before shuffling along. He sighed finally slipping through the doors and off into a more secluded hallway. Yes, he did enjoy socializing occasionally, but the families would be here for days before the Hunt actually started. There were at least seven families of important standing all staying in their home craved out of marble.

Slipping further and further away from the commotion he found a quiet nook that was dark enough to hide him from being seen right away and opened his book back up again. His mind drifted the Hunt. Maybe it would be fun this year, in the past it wasn't anything more then running around the woods for a couple days. Sighing he glanced down at the words on the page trying to tune those thoughts out.

  • OC: Sol was almost jittering with anxiety, but he still made his way through the crowd of people as casually as he could. He'd stop once in awhile to talk to friends or acquaintances, flashing them light-hearted smiles and engaging in a moment or two of idle chatter. He really wasn't a talkative person in general anyway, so it wasn't suspicious when he ended the conversations politely and quickly then went on his way.

He gradually entered a sort of tunnel where almost no one went. It was a little more damp and cool down this specific passageway, and Sol shivered a little in the rather thin clothing that he wore. He was now being very careful to make as little noise as he possibly could, his solemn eyes fixed straight ahead and his stockinged feet slipping over the rough and rocky ground as if he were a specter.

Arriving at the somewhat secret exit with little trouble, Sol glanced around. He'd thought the guards knew about this little hole, but now he supposed they didn't. It was as he was pulling himself up through it that he heard footsteps approaching him from below, faster than a human could move. Sol swore under his breath, his hands scrabbling at slick marble as he struggled to remove himself from the hole.

  • The vampire looked up hearing a noise first, it was a quiet noise that could just be the voice of guards' echoing down the halls. But, no this sounded different and of course being the predator he was he noiselessly stood himself back up pupils dilating as he moved towards the slightly louder more desperate noises. He made himself step as light as he could not wanting to give whoever was making the noise much notice of where he was. Felipe halted in the middle of the hall hearing the slipping of something on the marble floor. He didn't have to wait a moment longer, having a good idea of where the noise was coming from.

He went a small alcove that was covered up by an almost ancient tapestry. He pulled the tapestry aside and his eyes instantly narrowed seeing the human on the other side. He grabbed on to the thin shirt of the scrambling dirty boy to keep him from scurrying back into the tunnel he had tried to come out of. "Planning a little escape are we?" The vampire taunted him, eyes still narrowed. Even though his eyes seemed to be more feral and animal like at the moment amusement was tugging at the corners of his mouth. He couldn't think of the last time he had seen one of the humans try and wriggle their way out by trying to tunnel out. Most gave up or put up a pretty feeble resistance at best.

  • OC: Sol could tell that he was so close to getting himself out of the hole. The rough edges were scraping his sides, but as he got a grip on the stone walls he was quickly pulling himself further out into freedom. He felt a little thrill in his heart at the prospect of being able to take off through the corridors. The surge of adrenaline that went through him at the thought of just running away from the place that he'd been trapped in all his life seemed like it would be enough to give his arms the strength they needed to pull himself out of the hole. Sol was so close to being free when the front of his shirt was grabbed.

Shock drove the breath from his chest when he was lifted almost effortlessly. Sol spread his palms out on the wall behind him, wide green eyes watching the vampire in front of him fearfully. It only took him a moment or two to realize that it was the prince himself. He'd really messed up this time.

Sol swallowed, wondering if he'd be able to get out of this one. He was trying to hide the trembling of his hands by pressing them into the stone wall behind him. The blond boy glanced to either side of him, weighing his options and trying to decide if he could make a break for it. He knew logically that he'd be much too slow, but he was still tempted to try. He glanced back at the vampire prince in front of him, only able to hold the fierce gaze for a split second. When Sol glanced downwards, however, he thought he might have spotted an edge of amusement in the prince's face. Maybe there was hope for him after all.

  • He had no trouble hoisting the boy up, since he was far from the heaviest thing that the vampire had lifted up. His hand still tightly gripping on to the fabric of his shirt drawing in a sharp breath. There were a lot of benefits to being an undead bloodsucker, expect the fact that he was still a blood sucker and he could practically hear the human's beating heart in his ears. His dark eyes looked only at the human not bothering to look anywhere else. Even if he did try and make a break for it, it wouldn't take much to catch him again or alert guards before he got anywhere. Felipe gave a flat laugh as the human looked both ways and then worked just enough courage to give him a spiteful look. The vampire's hand gripped tighter on to the shirt. "Cute you think you can still find a way out of this." It was indeed amusing to see him trying even though the odds were heavily stacked against him. If the prince was being honest with himself he should most likely should have called the guards by now. Or have simply drained the human dry.

Instead he smiled revealing his pointed fangs, dark eyes still trained on the boy. "Why try and run now? They are so many vampires crawling about you wouldn't have made it very far anyhow." The vampire shrugged indifferently. If he hadn't found him, someone else would have. Still, he was at least a little interested in his answer since he would give the human some credit for actually managing to make it out of damp caves where all the humans were.

  • OC: Sol raised his hands from the wall to try to pull his shirt away from his throat, allowing himself just a little more air for him to breathe. The absolute effortlessness with which he was lifted only scared him more than he already was. He'd heard stories, of course, about how much more physically adept the vampires were; but he'd never experienced it firsthand.

Sol flinched at the sound of the laugh, aiming his gaze towards the ground. He choked slightly as the grip on his shirt was tightened even further, however he tried not to let it show alongside his trembling hands and unsteady gaze. He could feel the vampire's eyes on him, and he looked up again briefly as the prince spoke. Sol gasped in a soft breath, speaking in a slightly hoarse voice. "I had a chance, at least." He spoke softly, however it seemed there was a sort of edge to his voice, in a way. He'd been so determined. For a few seconds, even minutes, he'd really thought he could make it. Now the adrenaline that had been rushing through him was just being replaced with fear. Sol knew that the prince's expression had gone unforgiving again. He could see now that he'd have no way out of this. He was going to die, one way or another.

  • Felipe could practically smell the fear coming from the human, he still seemed to be trying to hide it at least a little bit. The prince's eyes raked over every inch of the boy's face while he did is best to gasp out an answer. Even though his face didn't change, the vampire's grip loosened just a bit. He tipped his head ever so slightly to the side. The conversations he had with humans were fairly limited at best, but all the humans he had spoken with had utterly given up. It was refreshing to see a human at least willing to die on his feet. He was starting to very briefly consider the option of seeing what this human would do if he did have a chance even if it was the slimmest of ones. "It wasn't a very good chance." He said rather plainly before he pulled the boy away from wall yanking him closer as if he were no more then a ragdoll. There was a momentary pause as he still had the instinctive urge to not waste anymore time and simply do what was supposed to be done with humans. Most vampire considered it a waste of time to "play with food".

"Shame...you are amusing at least." His fangs were easily visible, making it seem like it was pretty certain that he had made up his mind to kill him, but Felipe hadn't completely made up his mind. He used his other hand to take hold of one of the human's wrists drawing closer before stopping himself seeming to be starting to have a second thought about it.

  • OC: Sol tried not to make it obvious that he was gasping in more air as the prince's grip on his shirt was loosened. He dropped his hands to his sides again, feeling increasingly anxious under the vampire's harsh gaze. His shoulders slumped slightly as the prince spoke, but he did his best to straighten up again. "I guess not," he murmured, staring vaguely into the distance just behind the prince.

Sol drew in a quiet breath of surprise as he was again yanked closer to the vampire. There was a slight pain in his chest and in his throat from being jerked around, and he could tell it was being dulled slightly by the fear and anxiety he was experiencing. It'd probably be worse later. As the prince spoke once again, Sol looked up, his heartbeat somehow speeding up even more at the sight of the vampire's bared fangs. Sol had no doubt now that he was going to die. He could feel his own pulse as his wrist was grabbed, but then the prince hesitated. Sol held his breath, slightly out of fear and slightly out of hope. Hope was what had driven this whole thing, and not matter how dark the situation got, Sol's hope that he could maybe get out alive and well wouldn't seem to die.

Sol looked up from the ground, a faint spark in his green eyes that he was completely unaware of.

  • The prince drew in a shaky breath having to clench his eyes closed. He could hear the boy's heartbeat and feel his quickened pulse in his grip. There was a still moment before he slowly let his eyes slide open again. His grip on the human's wrist loosened as his eyes caught the tiny bit of hope that the human was still clinging on to. The vampire narrowed his eyes, his mouth forming a thin line while he tried to make up his own mind. It was tempting...very tempting actually, to drain the human's blood since his instincts were a strong thing. But, he decided there were be a lot more entertainment to be had if he did something different. Still, he enjoyed seeing the panic and hope switching in his eyes. "Drinking your blood could get messy." The vampire played off his momentary hesitation before, he finally dropped the boy's wrist still keeping the grip on the boy's shirt. Glancing over his shoulder he gave a very casual shrug. "I could just call the guards and have them deal with you." The prince smiled his fanged smile before flickering his eyes back to the human looking over the boy's face.

The prince released his grip laughing after a moment. "I'm going to give you another chance." Felipe revealed what exactly he had decided. Taking a step back to let the human go past him. "Go ahead and run, maybe I could give you some help." He suggested, planning on watching from a distance if nothing else. Although it would be fun to get involved more directly.

  • OC: Sol began to watch the vampire more carefully as he closed his eyes, almost seeming to be straining with something. The human boy held his breath as the grip on his wrist loosened, feeling the hope starting up inside his heart again. He knew he shouldn't really be feeling it at all, but it was starting to seem like he might have a chance again. Sol's heart stuttered as the prince spoke, a new surge of fear at the specific words going through him- but shortly after, his wrist was dropped and he could barely believe it. His eyes widened impossibly was he rubbed at the sore skin. He could tell it was going to bruise later. The vampire still held the front of Sol's shirt, but the boy thought that he was leaning towards letting him go.

And so he was, apparently. Sol glanced down the corridor that was now unblocked, still uncertain about whether or not he was really being let go. He still assumed that, more likely than not, be was just being played with. But he'd take the chance anyway.

Sol only looked back at the vampire once, before beginning to sprint down the hall. Maybe not the wisest decision, since he was making more noise than he would if he'd just walked, but he couldn't help himself.

  • Felipe heaved a sigh as the human choose to scamper his way down the hall, if he hadn't attracted the attention of every vampire in the castle he was doing so now. This boy was going to be caught in matter of minutes if he didn't help this sorry excuse of an escape attempt. Since two footsteps running would draw a lot of attention he did the next most logical thing he could thing of, a bit of morphing. He frowned as his bones began to crack and shift until he wasn't standing anymore, but was hunkered down on the floor as a tiny bat. Opening the skin stretched wings he fluttered himself into the air and took off after the running human. If he were just an everyday bat then he would not be able to keep up, but he could keep himself just behind the human as he ran through the winding halls. He was listening closely for any sounds that might indicate others coming. Sure enough he could hear the sound of footsteps coming right towards them. Maybe he should just let the others find him.

Giving a high-pitched squeak of annoyance he flapped his wings to get a bit ahead of the human. Landing on a nearby windowsill he let himself turn back into his full glory. Sitting perched on the windowsill he shook his head before turning to look down the hall. "Two coming this way, most likely guards." He hummed leaning back against the cool glass. He was putting himself in a precarious situation considering someone could easily shove him out the window right about now. He looked down the opposite end of the hallway. "Whoops looks like there are hmm...three more coming from the other direction." There of course wasn't many places to go from here.

  • OC: Sol thought he could hear the sounds of other footsteps, maybe coming in his direction, but over his own steps and the pounding of his heart in his ears he wasn't really sure. He'd never run this much in his life, and he was sure the castle was just huge- he wasn't sure why he'd thought he'd really be able to do this. He kept himself going out of frustration, but his adrenaline was wearing off. Sol just didn't have the energy to keep going for long.

He flinched as a bat flew past his head, stumbling a little but regaining his balance quickly. He didn't have time to stop and question it, and in all honesty he wasn't that surprised by it. The thing that surprised him was seeing the bat shift into the prince, perched on a windowsill. As the prince confirmed the presence of others coming, Sol half-skidded and half-stumbled to a stop in front of the window. He was starting to feel despair. He should've known he wouldn't really be able to escape- he shouldn't have run! He swore under his breath, anxiously looking in both directions that the footsteps were coming from. Sol shifted anxiously on his feet. He had no idea what to do now.

  • The prince sighed seeing the human already looking full of despair. He really was just running on this little idea of hope. It was amusing, but also rather annoying all at the same time since it meant that he had no plan at all. The prince slipped himself down from where he was perched looking both directions before glancing over at the human. He supposed he would have to give him a little bit of a hand. "Play along and you might make it out of this alive." The prince said in a quieter tone. He stood next to the human running a hand through his hair so he didn't look quite a disheveled. The first guards appeared clinking a little in their light armor. The lead guard blinked stopping clearly just as confused by the scene as the other guards that followed up behind them flanking the pair on both sides. A human who looked terrified and exhausted and Felipe himself who seemed slightly agitated despite the smile he painted on his face for the time being. "Your Highness, we heard the human running." The one of the guards tried to explain when the prince dropped his smile becoming much more serious. "Yes of course you did, doing a bit of practicing before the Hunt." Felipe shook his head narrowing his eyes with annoyance. It wasn't completely unheard of for younger vampires to practice with humans...just not normally inside the castle though. "I think I can handle one human on my own." The vampire stepped closer to the boy at a very quick speed. Standing behind him the prince draped his arms around the human's shoulder to keep him in place. "Now if you'll give me some peace." The Prince hissed showing his fangs and leaning closer to the boy's neck.

The guards awkwardly mumbled out apologies or began to shuffle out, casting somewhat confused glances at one another before filing back down the hall the way they had come. The prince finally released the boy when he couldn't hear the footsteps which took a minute or two. Releasing the human he sighed stretching a little before finally giving him some space. Dropping most of the annoyed attitude he smiled getting a kick out of this so far. He supposed he would have to see where this ended.

  • OC: Sol was still shifting anxiously as the prince slipped down from his perch. He still didn't really trust the vampire, but he supposed his only choice was to go along with whatever he had in mind. The human boy glanced over at the prince as he stood beside him, running a hand through his hair. He nodded a little skeptically, but took a sharp breath to brace himself. Sol couldn't seem to calm down, even though he wasn't as externally anxious anymore.

Watching the guards run up towards them, Sol felt a newfound twinge of fear. There was something strangely awkward about the situation- where did look? How did he stand? And in the end he decided to mimick a trapped-rabbit stance. Staring straight ahead, eyes wide, breathing hard. He hoped it looked authentic enough for the plan to work. As Sol felt the arms drape over his shoulders, he could barely keep from flinching. His heart unintentionally sped up again as he sensed the fangs near his neck, and he now had no trouble with his acting. He really did then feel like a rabbit in a trap, even though he tried to convince himself that it was all just part of a plan.

Sol counted the seconds as the guards left. He could feel himself trembling rather than shaking now, partially from exhaustion. He breathed out a soft sigh of relief as the prince stepped away from him. Sol turned his head slightly to look at the prince, gratitude faintly visible on his face.

"Um . .. thanks," he mumbled, slightly unsure of how to continue. There was only one thing he knew for certain. There was no way he was going to start running again.

Cautiously, he started making his way down the hall in the opposite direction the guards had come from.

  • He merely nodded watching the boy start to head in the only direction the guards hadn't come storming from. At least he had some basic survival instincts and wasn't trying to scamper off again. Felipe followed him like before not bothering to cover up his own footsteps, in fact he was making them a little louder then he needed to be to make it harder to tell how sets of footsteps there were. The vampire could see well even in the less lit areas and tipped his head looking at the back of the human's head. It was still somewhat puzzling to him that he couldn't quite understand why he was even bothering to help this human. He sighed after a moment, questioning if he should just turn back into a bat and watch from the rafters. "Do you have a name?" The prince finally asked seeing it a way to at least know this guy as something besides just a human. His voice was a quiet for now to keep from drawing any attention, although he knew the layout of the castle well enough to know that there wouldn't be many in this area at the time. Everyone was more focused on the Hunt then anything else.

The vampire stopped briefly at the forks in the hallways. "Going down the East Hall is the best way to go." Felipe suggested motioning down the dark hall. There was no light at all although it would at least help cover up his trail a little bit. He glanced down the more well lit halls standing back to let the human make the decision whether it was the right one or not.
