Backstory: Ray grew up in a muggle household with no knowledge of the wizarding world until he was eight. After waving his hands around excitedly at a toad, the toad began to fly around him, to his delight. His parents and brother were mortified. Ray kept the toad, and a few days later a wizard showed up to let his family in on all of the knowledge of the wizarding world, as well as about Hogwarts. Ray was excited to go, but his parents were unsure. They made him late the first day and he almost missed his first year. However, the same wizard from before found him and took him there personally using floo powder. Ray fell in love with the place. He found a home amongst the Ravenclaws as a fellow thinker and learner, and was soon one of the top students in his year. His parents grew to accept their son's oddity, but his brother never truly did, feeling jealous. Ray joined the Quidditch team for two years as a beater, but left to continue his studies. He had an internship at the Ministry of Magic his final year, and when he graduated, was offered a job. However, Ray decided to take up the astronomy position at Hogwarts instead when McGonagall offered it to him. He's been there ever since. Ray was excited to find his brother had found a wife a few years later, and learned she was a witch. Halnith told Ray not to tell Galen, but Ray accidentally let it slip and his brother was furious. After learning that their son, Derek, might actually have magic as well, Galen left the family and disappeared. Ray felt horrible despite Halnith saying it was alright, and has kept the mother and son under his wing in the meantime. He's watched Derek grow up in Slytherin and couldn't be prouder. At one point he was also knighted by the queen. He still does work for some muggle industries sometimes, and his knowledge on astronomy was groundbreaking. And so for that, Ray Rookwood was knighted.

He's loyal to a fault and cares for his friends; however, in true Slytherin fashion, he would save his own neck first before risking it for someone else. Hope had gotten used to it but Rylee was only a toddler. Hope and Rylee were three years apart so Hope was six when Rylee was three. Her father would hit her mother often and one day, he turned the fist to little Hope. He began to beat her as well while she protected Rylee. She tried to stop him from hitting her mother as well and just let all the abuse fall on her but there was no use. Hope was only eight but she was already so mature because she had to grow up and take care of her family and protect them from the big scary monster. Then came along their baby brother. She loved her baby brother so much and she always took care of him and Rylee,always doting on them and making sure that she got to school on time. Most of the time, Hope would skip school to take care of Arthur since her mother was constantly working and her father was in whatever bar he could find. That's when her father broke down her door. Hope stood protectively in front of her siblings, screaming and begging for her father to stop this. He shoved her out of the way, knocking her head into the wall and giving her a concussion. Her head began to bleed and her head spun. She looked over to her siblings and screamed, just seeing two flashes of green light and their screams of agony as they died. Sobbing, Hope crawled toward them and held their lifeless bodies. She looked up her father, staring at him with pure hate in her blue eyes as he raised his wand to her, his hand shaking with anger and hate. But before he could kill her, the police tackled him. They knocked the wand from his hand and took him away. Hope didn't move for hours, just crying and holding her siblings. The police tried to take them from her and she just screamed and kicked and hissed and bit. Eventually, she fell asleep and that was when they took her siblings and her mother away from her. She was sent to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. She told them all about how the green light and a wooden stick killed her mother and her siblings but she was just an innocent child that didn't understand how that must've sounded. They say that she didn't know what she saw cause she hit her head and sent her to a group home. Hope, angry at the world, tried to run away so many times. She caught the attention of a young couple and they adopted her. They knew it would be a hard, taking in a problem child with PTSD but they knew they had to try. They fell in love with Hope and didn't want to give up on her. They sent her to a therapist, who actually helped with her past and mental disorders rather than blowing them off as pre-teen angst. She worked through most of her issues but she was still so heavily protective of her heart. She loved her new family dearly and tried her best to be a good child for them. She joined the football team at her school and became one of the best goalies ever at that school. Her adoptive mother and father adopted another girl when Hope was ten. Her adoptive sister was two years younger than her and was an orphan, just like her. The two bonded easily and became best friends before long. That's when she got an acceptance letter from Hogwarts and was sent to learn about the everything that killed her family. She was reluctant at first but her adoptive mother encouraged her to go. She got all of her books and got Countess and went to Hogwarts. She was sorted into Ravenclaw and she had a fairly normal first three years. That's when she met Ryder. He became her best friend and they bonded over everything. She was a teenage girl and she thought it was risque of her to be best friends with a Slytherin. They bonded so quickly and Hope felt as if she could be herself around him. They began dating at the beginning of her fifth year and she fell for him so hard. She thought they were going to last forever and live happily ever after. She couldn't have been more wrong. She gave her innocence to him one night when they were snuggled by a fireplace and the next day, he broke up with her. She rarely ate or slept. One day, she wished that he would die in a sob she let escape her lips.
