❝ THROUGH DROUGHT AND FAMINE
NATURAL DISASTERS — ❞ plots
A spill of dreadful grays bloomed over the earth, rivulets of pale gunmetal alive as they dripped from the flooded seams of a peaty bed. There was a moment of silence, of quiet snoring and the softness of sleep that filled the gaps in the twigs of the nursery. Then a jarring stir - tiny shoulders had risen sharply from sleep, as if some amateur puppeteer was plucking strings to give the itty-bitty silhouette animation.
She was sitting now, restless - a freckled face had fallen upon the gentle curve of her neck, slouching as if the weight of sleeplessness had grown too heavy to carry. She had tried falling asleep about a bajillion times, but no matter how she tried to sleep, she just couldn’t! She figured that maybe nature wanted her to stay awake for now. Icy eyes squinted - still a touch too big for her plush face - adjusting to the drowsy haze of her surroundings and scanning the den for signs of movement, and then again, just to be sure.
She knew the queens must have been so sleepy from taking care of them all day, and her siblings were sleepy from playing so much, and that was okay! But now, she was lonely and nothing was particularly interesting. She found herself pushing out a sigh of boredom through salmon nostrils, exasperated by the lack of awake presences. And so, there she sat, by herself as she awkwardly shifted on her bed and poked and prodded the spongy moss beneath her in an attempt to make a game for herself. HEATHERPAW. "☁"
