  • Gold City

Following an event she has no knowledge of, Bodil has been learning under the wing of Professor Sycamore. Who...Who has been acting strangely. It's not long until the young woman stumbles upon the truth. And from there, she swears herself to secrecy.

I figure Bodil's position is one of those assistants. Although she also takes time to learn from the man.

    My Character:

  • Professor Augustine Sycamore sits at his desk, a pair of reading glasses perched on his nose as he reads over files given to him earlier in the day. His white lab coat hangs forgotten on the back of his black swivel chair. After a few minutes of reading, Sycamore drops the files and gingerly removes his glasses, running the heels of his palms over his face. He couldn't concentrate, suffering from a horrid headache, and the reading wasn't helping. He wasn't stupid, he knew what was going on, Sycamore just chose to ignore until now. Too long had he stayed in a more human form, having been too busy with research and conferences and taking care of trainers. Usually the Professor knew better than to do this, taking the time at least twice a month to take a day and revert back to his more normal and natural form.

Bleary grey eyes shift over to the clock- 3:45. They shift once more to the calendar on the wall before shutting, a sigh escaping the man. He had until 4 o'clock, his new assistant, Bodil, would be arriving with information on the pokemon of route 12. Ever since the pokemon started migrating this time of year, he had to send people out to update information, make sure the pokedex was up to date. Sometimes new species arrive and others leave and some become more territorial than usual. It was all the cycle of nature.

Sycamore pushes back in his chair and stands, stretching as he does. He wastes no time escaping from his office to go out to the Pokemon enclosure, slipping through a door that lead to a private forest fenced in out back.

  • (That's fine, he's going out to transform. He scribbles pictures of Xerneas all over on sticky notes and he has a an open notebook that he writes his pains about in (Like, how the longer he stays human the more his back aches and his bad headaches) but he doesn't straight up come out and say "Yo, because I'm a pokemon, I have this this and this pain") (Idk, wasn't sure what you planned on writing but I figured I'd say what he does have if shes searching for anything) (Ask all the questions you want tho))

  • (Alright! I'll have her arrive *sort of* early. Where he's still in Pokemon form and outside while she comes in.)

A knock at the empty office's door. Although the girl on the other side had no idea Professor Sycamore had left. Bodil stood back and waited a couple more seconds before knocking again. "Professor?" she called out. From behind, Cynric padded up and peered over her shoulder. Giving the door a suspicious, impatient look.

More silence before Bodil opened the door half-way. Glancing inside before opening it further and entering. Arcanine padding slowly behind. She had to be early. Or arrived at an inconvenient time. He had left his notes on the table!

    (How's this?)

  • Sycamore welcomes the fresh air with open arms, his body seeming to relax the further into his personal forest he goes. His body seems to move without him telling it too, taking him deeper and deeper. His body glows and his shape begins to shift.

Soon, standing tall and mighty, is the legendary Kalosian beast; Xerneas. Sycamore stretches out, feeling all the pain that had been building for two months just slip and melt away. The giant deer pokemon finds itself traveling around the small (not so small) forest.

    (Perfect!)

  • Curiousity always got the better of people. And Bodil was no exception to this rule. She peered over at an opened notebook on the table. Eyes widening slightly as she read over certain entries. Describing the Professor's frequent head-aches and back pains. Professor Sycamore hadn't been feeling well? Within her concerned thoughts about the matter, Cynric diverted his attention to the window. One facing the woods outside.

And without warning, the Pokemon let out a low growl. Not really furious...Just...Suspicious. Something out there confused him. Scared him.

  • Sycamore finds a resting place during his walking, settling near a rather small body of water that occupied the forest. Thankfully, the sun peaked through the open curtain of tree's, basking the pokemon (man?) in warming sunlight.

A few pokemon found their way over to the Life Pokemon. Some Starly and Fletchling perch on his giant horns while smaller pokemon like Eevee curl up next to his flank.

  • I could bore you with the rest of the details. But to cut a long-story short: Bodil's attempts to shush Cynric fell onto deaf ears. The big beast ended up bolting out of the opened door. Crashing through the closed front entrance after a few good, hard knocks. Oh, no. Still clutching her own notes, Bodil chased after her partner. Shouting as she went.

This merry chase ended up leading both into the forest. Where, unbeknownst to the girl, but sensed by her Arcanine, a Legendary hung around. Also unaware of them.

  • Sycamore had dozed off and when he awakened, it was to the barking of a certain Arcanine that tore down foliage as he bolted through the forest. The drowsy Life Pokemon wobbles when he stands and shakes, the fur on his flank shifting and disrupting the pokemon that perched on him.

Although he stood at a good height, Sycamore was still smaller than the tree's that inhabited the thick forest. He uses this to his advantage and wades into the water where he is covered by large water dwelling trees.

  • By the time Bodil caught up to Cynric, the Pokemon stood growling on a lakeshore. Facing a glade of trees upon the water. She squinted in confusion, before figuring that maybe he chased a bird Pokemon who flew over there. And now he was angry for not catching it. Yet that couldn't justify the rather violent reaction.

  • Sycamore peered through the trees, eyeing the Arcanine that growled in his direction. His coal coloured eyes shift from the dog pokemon to the trainer who stood next to it. The Professor couldn't hold back the jolt that went through him when he spotted Bodil, remembering that she was supposed to be meeting with him in 5 minutes.

The small jump that Sycamore had done caused him to slip, his hoof catching on a rather slick rock. He catches himself before he falls, but that doesn't stop the water from splashing and rippling, giving the Life Pokemon away.

  • Hmm?! Bodil heard the splashing, as did Cynric, who began barking as a result. Louder than he had been, previously. "Wh-Who's there?!" Very stupid statement. That splashing could just be a Water type. A...Dangerous Water type. Who probably wouldn't like being yelled at. Or barked at. Or just disturbed at all.

(BTW, on our Sun thread, should I have Bodil bring only Cynric and have her get a new team as the journey goes on?)

  • Sycamore sighs when Bodil yells out, knowing that he can't keep himself hidden any longer. Carefully, to not slip again, the giant deer pokemon walks, lowering himself deeper into the water to wade around the trees and make himself known. By now the sun had shifted and when it hits his antlers, they glow and shimmer, reflecting rainbow like lights into the lakes water. His eyes fix on his assistant and he knows it's going to be hard to keep his secret from her, especially since he'd have to make it to his office before her.

(That works! I'm having Korrin (Olivia's starter) be from her previous team, he just never evolved, and she'll be gathering a team of her own in Alola)

  • Wow...The sight left both Bodil and Cynric in stunned, awed silence. Rainbow lights upon water; Which almost concealed the true shape from her eyes. Squinting again, she made out the creature's outline. She swore she saw that before...In a picture book. In lots of her old picture books.

    Xerneas.

She...She had to tell the Professor about this!

  • Sycamore raised his head high and locked eyes with Bodil, attempting to read her next actions. He continues to walk closer, the only direct path to the lab door being where she stood. Sycamore knew he'd have to walk right next to her and Cynric, who would automatically smell and realize who and what he was.

  • Oh...Arceus...That was a Legendary! X-Xerneas! Bodil let out a squeak, expressing a sense of wonder not seen often since her childhood. She was definitely telling the Professor about this! Cynric...Was dumbstruck. Massive head tilted as he watched the blue Pokemon approach. A low growl still rumbled in his throat.

  • Sycamore breaches the water and walks onto the land, shaking his body to dispel any water as if he were a giant dog. The legend looks once more to Bodil, still as he looks deeply into her. Sycamore reads her aura, sees the flaring of a golden yellow and the innocent and pure white that echo's at her core. At that his eyes flash with something more... human. Internally he prays that the woman in front of him doesn't notice, doesn't realize - before he leaps. His long legs carry him in stride, taking him away from his assistant and her pokemon partner.

Before he knows it, he's already at the edge of the forest near his previous exit. The Life pokemon is quick to shift into his normal state, but curses to himself when he realizes that his hair is soaked with pond water.
