  • Ooc: Exactly! My bad for thinking that Daisystem was a she-cat at first! I didn't read his description! I just saw tortoiseshell and automatically thought of a she-cat! ;-;

    Crimsonpaw:

Crimsonpaw understood why Ravenclaw still didn't know how to tell her kits. The queen really believed her mate was dead. Crimsonpaw let out a small sigh, then glanced back to look at Larkkit and Nettlekit. How would Ravenclaw tell them?

"Ravenclaw... I know I'm just an apprentice but maybe there is someway I can help you," Crimsonpaw began. "I'm a medicine cat after all, its my job to help the members of the clan."

    Cloudwhisker:

Cloudwhisker nodded solemnly. What was so horrifying about Sparrowstar's death that it had to be kept a secret?

"You have my word Featherpool, I won't tell a soul," Cloudwhisker meowed and dipped his head respectively to the medicine cat, "Thank you for trusting me with this knowledge."

Cloudwhisker nodded in agreement with Ghostfeather. "Yes, what are we supposed to do about her body? Are we just going to bury it there and not hold a vigil?"

    Mossfur:

Mossfur shrugged, her brother had every right to be angry at Sparrowstar and the death of their leader probably just spurred up these feelings all over again. THe she-cat felt a knot in her stomach. She had a feeling that she wouldn't be eating much today.

"You have every right to be angry," Mossfur stated blatantly. "What Sparrowstar did that day was... unforgivable."

The tortoiseshell's fur bristled and her eyes narrowed. She was made at Sparrowstar. Mad that their former leader led many good warriors including their brother. But what could be done about it now? They were dead. They were all dead.

    Acornleap:

Acornleap shrugged, but was slightly amused at the way Gingerpaw was thinking. Definitely like a little warrior. No doubt this train of though was coming from the things Cloudwhisker had taught her.

"I don't think they will," Acornleap stated. "Moonclan, although restless, still have dignity and respect. They wouldn't attack us at a time like this."

  • ooc That's fair, most tortishells, if not all, are female XD

Featherpool froze, ghostfeather and Cloudwhisker made a good point. He paused in thought, then got up and grabbed some herbs from cracks in the wall, wrapping them in a leaf for convenient carrying. "We can bring her body back as planned, after a few... editations." featherpool shivered in revulsion at the notion. "Right, let's go." He mewed, picking up the herbs with his nose wrinkled at the smell and padding delicately out of the medicine den, not waiting to see if ghostfeather and cloudwhisker would follow.

Ravenwing nodded numbly, forcing a weak swish of her tail to show she'd heard petal storm. "Thank you." She mewed. Ravenwing looked back to Crimsonpaw, "How so?" She asked cautiously. She didn't want to drag the young cat into anything too dark.

Stonetuft looked taken aback, clearly she hadn't expected such a response. She wondered if she'd misjudged him. "You make a fair point." She admitted, then flicked her stump tail impatiently, "Where are they?" she murmured, "What are they talking about? It's all rather mysterious."

Swirlpaw nodded, "It will, I asked Featherpool to send me out specifically, I can't stand sitting about whilst..." Swirlpaw stopped talking. She shook her head, "Let's go, I need to think on something else." She began limping towards the bramble tunnel. Emberpelt let outa sigh.

"Poor thing." He turned to Shatterstone as they moved towards the bramble tunnel, "Has she managed to catch anything yet? The... limp, and all?" He asked delicately.

Daisystem clawed the ground, his eyes far away, as if he weren't seeing the clearing anymore. He shook his head, bringing himself back. "It wasn't just her." he reminded his sister. He sneered, showing his sharp teeth. "Kinkedfur, that fool, encouraged her." His eyes shot over to Stonetuft, "And she wasn't against it either." He lashed his tail, "We have to help them! The Rouges will go for us next!" he mocked Stonetuft's voice. "What a joke."

Gingerpaw cast Acornleap a sideways glance. "We are talking about the same Moonclan, right? Dignity? Respect? I'm not sure they know what those words mean." She sneered.

  • Crimsonpaw:

The young apprentice thought for a moment. How could she help?

"Well I could help you tell the kits if you'd like.. They might take the news better if it is coming from a medicine cat apprentice and their mother, and I can give them some poppy seeds so they will sleep if it gets too much for them and if they go into shock..." Crimsonpaw shrugged, "It's just a thought."

She glanced back at the kits again, could Crimsonpaw really tell them that their father is dead?

    Cloudwhisker:

Cloudwhisker padded after Featherpool. What did the medicine cat mean by editations? Was the medicine cat plan on altering the body? Was Sparrowstar's death really that horrible and horrific? Cloudwhisker followed closely behind the medicine cat. He glanced around the camp and spotted his apprentice, Gingerpaw, talking with Acornleap. Good, he thought, Gingerpaw needs to stay behind. She can't come on this patrol.

    Mossfur:

The she-cat nodded thoughtfully, almost forgetting about the other's who played a part on sending their warriors to die and their brother.

"We can never forgive them..." She hissed coldly.

She certainly couldn't forgive them. She glanced over at Acornleap who was busy talking with Gingerpaw. He could forgive them. He probably already had. Acornleap was soft like that. She didn't understand how Acornleap could just let something like that go. Mossfur would always hate her brother because of that.

    Acornleap:

The ginger tom purred, "You really are sounding like Cloudwhisker."

Acornleap new Cloudwhisker to be a noble cat and one who thought very highly of their own clan and not so highly of others. Acornleap shrugged, however, he still didn't think that Moonclan would attack them. It would be a horrendous crime on their part. Perhaps even Starclan would look down on Moonclan if they attacked. Perhaps that is what was keeping them at bay for now.

  • Ghostfeather nodded to Cloudwhisker before he stood and left the den as well. He wasn't certain about this plan that Featherpool had. What if whatever he was trying to mask stuck out and someone noticed? Then they would have to deal with a panicked clan...

He would just have to prep himself for that, he supposed. He had picked up his pace to catch up with Cloudwhisker and took a moment before he spoke- quietly. "What do you think it is? You don't think its..." He made sure that they were far enough from other cats before speaking again. "... Twolegs, do you?"

Petalstorm nodded. "I think she should rest a little bit for right now. If you need some time alone, I can watch over your kits for you..." She suggested to the other she-cat.

Cougarkit had moved around the other two resting kits, before she nudged Larkkit. "Hey! You guys are missing out!" She exclaimed. "A lot just happened and you're in here sleeping?"

Grasskit sat herself down, seeming a bit distraught. She remembered the conversation between the two queens... The kits were like them now fatherless. "Cougarkit, you should leave them alone..."

Jasperkit even pulled his sister back by her tail. "Yeah, let them be."

"What, why? We might as well TELL them what's going on. Like what happened to their father."

"Cougarkit!" Grasskit gasped. "We should leave that with Ravenwing...!"

Blazestorm waited. "I don't know. It must be serious." He grumbled. Before he caught sight of the three. "There they are." He flicked his tail in their direction. "I wonder what happened to Sparrowstar that they have to spend so much time talking about it?"

Shatterstone nodded. "She's doing well, actually. With that limp, she learns rather quick, and I think she's learning to adapt to it." He spoke. "She's caught a couple squirrels, but not as much as other apprentices have... Even still, she's capable."

He followed after his apprentice, motioning with his tail for the other to follow. "I'm just worried about whatever is out there that killed Sparrowstar could come to us while we're out hunting. I'm afraid of whether or not she would be able to fight or even escape..."

  • Ravenwing nodded at crimson paw. She knew she should turn down the kind offer, she knew Crimsonpaw was far to young to do her own dirty work, but a weakness within her let it happen. She couldn't face this alone. "That would mean the world to me." She croaked at last. She gave a nod to Petalstorm, "If you wouldn't mind. I'm going to go for a walk and think. Don't tell them just yet, I want them to have today to enjoy." She excused herself then, padding towards the exit of camp.

Gingerpaw seemed flattered by Acornleap's words, which was no mean feet, she didn't take praise kindly. "I am, aren't I?" She asked, "Like Cloudwhisker, than is?" She puffed her chest proudly, and, possible, with a hint of arrogance.

Daisystem followed her gaze. "Don't mention it to him." he growled, "You already know what he'll say." He hissed. Then, getting up suddenly, her let out a wide yawn. "I need to stretch my legs. Plus, I reckon the moonclan border needs refreshing. See you later on?" he asked, poised to move towards the bramble barrier.

Featherpool nodded to Stonetuft and Blazestorm, "We're off." He mewed decisively around the herbs, ducking into the bramble tunnel and disappearing out into the forest. He sure set a fast pace. He'd never wanted to be a medicine cat, the role had been forced upon him when an apprentice had been needed and no one else could fill it. It was either him or Stonetuft, and Stonetuft had lost her tail and was in recovery at the time, unable to learn anything.

Stonetuft raised her brow at blazestorm, dragging in a breath, "Off we go, I guess." She muttered, following her brother through the tunnel. "Whatever happened to her, I suppose we'll find out soon." Featherpool glanced back at this,

"Actually," He murmured, "You two will need to stand guard." Stonetuft narrowed her eyes.

    "I see..." She mewed.

Nettlekit sat up, opening his blind green eyes and turning them on the trio. "You think I didn't hear every word?" he asked in an even, emotionless voice. Larkkit yawned and stretched.

"What's going on? What happened to Dad?"

Emberpelt seemed impressed. "Really? Gingerpaw mentioned she was a bit, well, useless, but perhaps she got the wrong impression. Either way, you're right, she wouldn't stand a chance with her damaged legs. We'd have to distract it, whatever is out there." Emberpelt shrugged, "Do you feel bad having an apprentice who's behind everyone else? How do you deal with that?" Emberpelt pressed, not minding his own business.

  • Crimsonpaw:

Crimsonpaw jumped at hearing the small mews of Ravenwing's kits. Nettlekit seemed to be very intelligent for a kit his age, but his apathetic nature made the fur along the apprentice's spine bristle. Ravenwing was already gone and Crimsonpaw knew that the queen wanted to tell the kits herself with the young russet apprentice present.

"I- uh..." Crimsonpaw was at a loss for words and turned to Petalstorm, hopping the other queen could help her out.

    Cloudwhisker:

Cloudwhisker trotted behind Featherpool. He could tell that Stonetuft was agitated or even upset that she and Blazestorm were being put on look-out duty. Cloudwhisker could only wonder what the grumpy tom cat was thinking. The grey and white tom picked up his pace so he could walk along side the medicine cat.

"What are you going to tell Crimsonpaw? She's a medicine cat apprentice. She deserves to know what is going on," Cloudwhisker murmured quietly to Featherpool. Perhaps it was just Cloudwhisker's nature to want to involve Crimsonpaw, after all, Cloudwhisker thought of Crimsonpaw as his own. He was sure that Crimsonpaw deserved to know what was going on.

    Mossfur:

"I won't mention anything to him," Mossfur assured her brother then watched as the tortoiseshell tom padded towards the bramble tunnel.

She would have gone with him, but there were already more warriors then needed to be out of camp, along with their medicine cat. No more cats could leave camp at this point. It would leave the camp too exposed, too open.

Instead, Mossfur settled herself outside of the warrior's den and watched Acornleap through narrowed eyes.

    Acornleap:

The ginger tabby nodded, "You are! You will be a fine warrior one day, just like he is." he purred.

Acornleap was amused at the young apprentice's confidence. Her arrogant nature might get her into trouble one day, Acornleap mused.

Acornleap turned and noticed his brother leaving camp and that Daisystem seemed agitated. He turned his head and saw Mossfur laying outside of the warriors den, watching him. No doubt they were talking about their lost sibling. He glared back at Mossfur, then turned his attention back to Gingerpaw.

  • Ghostfeather followed a bit behind the other two, still listening to them speak. Though, Blazestorm had come up beside him, making him slow a little bit to let the other tom speak with him.

"So, what's all this about? We're only here to guard? What's wrong with us seeing Sparrowstar? She was our leader too." The longhair tom growled.

"It's nothing you need to worry about. It was at Featherpool's request." The other tom responded simply. "Anyways, with whatever's out there now, we will need you two to keep an eye out for us. You both have keen senses." He explained.

Blazestorm was silent for a moment before he sighed. "You three are being real secretive and I don't like it, I hope you know that." He grumbled. "There better be a good reason for this." And with that, the tom had shut up about the issue-- though he was still thinking about it- why Featherpool, Ghostfeather, and Cloudwhisker were seeming so... suspicious.

Petalstorm nodded to the apprentice. "I'll keep an eye on things from here, don't worry. Could you perhaps make sure that Ravenwing is safe? With what had happened, I don't want her putting herself in unnecessary danger.." She bowed her head to the apprentice afterwards before she turned and entered the Nursery.

"Well-" Cougarkit started, before her mother had come in and picked her up by her scruff. "That's enough." The mother spoke to her kits between clenched teeth. "Your mother will be back soon to speak with you two, for now I'll be watching you." She spoke, setting the cream-colored she-cat down and then laying herself down. She held Cougarkit in place to start licking at her soft fur- much to her distress.

Jasperkit had sat down next to the two other kits. "Well... while we wait, do you want to play?" He asked, tilting his head. Grasskit nodded to her brother's suggestion. "I still have that moss ball..!"

Shatterstone turned to the other, almost offended-. "Why should I feel bad? Perhaps she's a little behind but she's not useless." He hissed at the other. "She's just as good as any other cat here. In fact, I'd consider her stronger than others. Even with her limp she tries her hardest to do everything for her clan and she will make a great warrior one day. If anything, I'm proud of her. Perhaps I'll have a talk with Gingerpaw later on..." His fur had flattened down a little bit after he small outburst. "Let's go. I don't want Swirlpaw getting too far ahead without us."

  • FeatherPool:

Featherpool flicked one of his ears in annoyance. "Absolutely not. Telling Crimsonpaw is out of the question. Medicine cats have to know and deal with nasty things, yes, but not medicine cat apprentices." He reasoned, "Having too must thrust on you at one time is an awful experience, one I wouldn't wish on anyone." he murmured, clearly thinking of his rough start as the medicine cat, left to be the sole healer after the sudden and early passing of his mentor.

    EmberPelt:

Emberpelt responded quickly, "I didn't mean it like that, it's just, with a limp and all, it's a simple fact she'll always be at a disadvantage. She's always going to be less useful to the clan," Emberpelt heard his own words, and stammered, "Not useless though, no, I didn't mean that..." He gave a nod, "Let's just catch up to her. For a crippled cat she sure can speed off." He set a quick pace, gaining quickly on the lumbering Swirlpaw walking between the trees, sniffing here and there for prey.

    StoneTuft:

Stonetuft waited patiently for Blazestorm to finish his conversation, then padded alongside him. "It's odd." She murmured, "My brother has never not trusted me with something. This must be really serious." Her fur rose with worry, "I've got a real bad feeling about all this."

    GingerPaw:

"What's he up to...?" Gingerpaw murmured, narrowing her eyes at Daisystem as the tom left the camp. "Let's follow him." She mewed suddenly, rising to her paws and padding after him, her luxurious ginger tail twitching behind her.

    NettleKit:

NettleKit smiled. "Actually, I have an idea for a different game." He explained the rules, "You all have to close your eyes and I'll walk around you. You say "Moonclan" every few seconds, at the most, and in response I have to say "Sunclan". You have to catch me using only sound." He sounded excited at the prospect. LarkKit mewed in protest,

"Off course you'll win, brother." She pointed out, "You're as blind as a bat." Nettlekit flinched at that.

  • The clearing was coming into view ahead of them.

"We'll finish this conversation later." Featherpool mewed abruptly, "There are more important things to attend to."

Featherpool raised his tail for them to stop. Featherpool took a deep breath, preparing himself, and then, with a rustling of foliage, her entered the clearing, Ghostfeather and Cloudwhisker having enough space to follow in after him.

    <warning, a bit gruesome>

The first thing to hit Featherpool’s nose, as it had done last time, was the smell of dried blood and fox. Leaves, red fox fur and kicked up dirt were strewn across the floor with thick patches of red, icky liquid mixed in. Featherpool allowed room for Ghostfeather and Cloudwhisker to follow him in but motioned for Blazestorm and Stonetuft to stand guard.

“Whatever you do,” he mewed to them seriously, “You must not look into this clearing, understood?”

In the centre of the clearing, out of Stonetuft and Blazestorm’s view, but right at the paws of Ghostfeather and Cloudwhisker (presuming you two have gone in), was Sparrowstar’s body. There was less fur than open flesh on her now, and the whole carcass was drizzeled in a thick red substance. Sparrowstar’s tail was mangeled and broken in multiple places, one eye was entirely missing and the other was staring ahead, empty and glazed. Her claws were out, white and shiny against her red patched fur. Something was lodged between the claws of her front right paw, the rest were oddly empty, as if she’d put up no fight, but that couldn’t have been so as her face was pulled into a snarl and her legs were stretched out as if she had been desperately moving about.

Claw marks raked up and down the body, open gashes, a cut throat, and odd fresh scars criss crossed her skin. It was hard to call is Sparrowstar’s body when it was hardly recognisable as her. It didn't look like the leader they'd known, it look like a mangled cat-shaped mound of muscle, flesh and blood.

Featherpool put the herbs down and tried not to be sick.

  • (Sorry for stealing your format thing, Coffee! I think it looks a lot nicer and more organized~! Hope you don't mind!)
    Ghostfeather
Ghostfeather entered right behind the medicine cat, and beside Cloudwhisker. The strong smell of iron in the air as they neared. He was already a bit worried about the amount of blood that mixed with the dirt, and the fox fur made him assume it was a fox attack...

But once they made it to Sparrowstar's body, the tom's hair stood on end, his tail fluffing out as his eyes widened. "What in the name of Starclan happened here...?" He breathed out, examining her wounds. "A fox did this...?" He asked.

    Blazestorm

Whatever happened had to be serious. Even when he didn't get to see their leaders body, just by the tone of voice Featherpool had with him and Stonetuft... plus the awful smell of blood and fox wafting into his nose... It was awful.

What had happened here and how did it happen..?

He looked over to Stonetuft with a worried look on his face- something that he didn't show often. "What kind of fox attack could this have been that we're stuck standing guard out here...?" He asked her curiously, looking around much more warily-. Foxes were an issue for their clan, sure, but he really didn't want to have any fight with them, especially with this kind of scene.

    Petalstorm
Petalstorm stared at the kits that were planning their game, and let Cougarkit go. She relaxed some, curling her tail around herself. She couldn't help but worry for her friend-- what she must be feeling, where she could be going.... There were a lot of things that could have happened to Sparrowstar and Cloudfur, but she just wondered what... She hoped it wasn't one of the other clans, or Starclan forbid-- rogues or even foxes.

    Grasskit, Cougarkit, Jasperkit

"I think that sounds like a fun game to play!" Grasskit exclaimed. "Is whoever catches you first it then?" She asked.

Jasperkit seemed just as interested in this game, already closing his eyes and ready to go. "I bet so! Moonclan!" He called.

Grasskit quickly closed her eyes and began to walk about blindly, waiting for the other kit to respond. Though already she had accidentally run into Larkkit.

Cougarkit seemed confident enough with this game. She could easily play this! She closed her eyes tight and waited to pounce at Nettlekit.

  • (Sorry coffee! But Karna is right, it's so much more organised and good looking)

    FeatherPool:

"What 'fox' indeed." Featherpool mewed darkly. "Look between her claws." Featherpool pushed, nearly barfing mid sentence. "Excuse me." He murmured, turning away. "I'll examine it more closely once you two have had your look..." He flicked his tail

(If you look between her paws you will find fur that does not belong to a fox, but seems to belong to a cat, under the claws of her front right paw. Oddly, her other claws are all empty. You can't make any sense of the smell of the fur given all the other pungent things around.)

    StoneTuft:

"My best guess?" Stonetuft asked, glancing over at Blazestorm, "It wasn't a fox." She mewed ominously. "Even if it was gruesome that wouldn't be cause to exclude two grown Warriors from seeing it. No." She shook her head, "Something else is afoot here. Featherpool must have found something about her death he didn't like. Something so damming he can't allow people to know about it until he has his ducks in a row." Stonetuft shrugged, "I can't be certain, but as his sister I know him pretty well, and that's my best guess right now." She paused, narrowing her eyes. "hold on..." She murmured, looking out into the forest, her fur beginning to rise.

    LarkKit:

LarkKit fell over with an oof, her long legs tangling with Grasskit. LarkKit was all limbs and tail. "Careful!" She squealed. "This is why I don't play blind games with him." She grumbled, trying to get to her paws.

    NettleKit:

Nettlekit laughed at Grasskit and LarkKit, "Indeed, whomever catches me first gets to be 'it'." He looked over at JasperKit and waved his tail excitedly "Sunclan!"He called, darting over to the other side of the nursery with ease, jumping this way and that. He bumped into PetalStorm at one point, "Excuse me," he murmured politely, then continued his escape.

  • Ooc: I don't mind at all! I'm glad you two like the idea!

    Crimsonpaw:

Crimsonpaw nodded to Petalstorm, grateful for being excused. With the kits busy playing and under the watchful eye of Petalstorm, Crimsonpaw could go and accompany Ravenwing and not feel the uneasiness she felt around Nettlekit. She trotted off in the direction of the queen, and soon found her walking along a path.

"Ravenwing!" Crimsonpaw called out to her and slowed to walk beside the dark queen. "I thought you could use some company."

    Cloudwhisker:
The tom was about to say something to Featherpool about not telling Crimsonpaw, but the words were lost to him as he saw the horrific mangled mess that had been their former leader. It was disgusting sight, and Cloudwhisker physically recoiled at the mess. Featherpool mentioned something about her claws and Cloudwhisker swallowed his disgust and padded up to the corpse. Between only one set of her claws was fur that definitely did not belong to a fox. He couldn't figure out what creature, the smells around him kept him from picking out the smell of the fur.

"A fox didn't do this..." He murmured, then swung his head around to look at Ghostfeather, "This wasn't a fox," he meowed a little louder this time.

    Mossfur:

Mossfur continued to watch Gingerpaw and Acornleap, a little surprised when she saw Gingerpaw get up and start to follow Daisystem. However, Mossfur remained. Cats needed to stay in the camp.

    Acornleap:

Acornleap got up after Gingerpaw, Daisystem wouldn't be happy to know an apprentice was following him.

"Gingerpaw, wait. You really shouldn't go after Daisystem, leave him be. He will be fine on his own," Acornleap warned the apprentice, "Besides, Cloudwhisker wouldn't like you to be out of the camp without him."

Acornleap quickened his pace and cut off the apprentice at the bramble tunnel.

"We need to stay here." He meowed firmly.

  • Ghostfeather
Ghostfeather eyed the fur in her claws as well, and he felt his heart stop for a moment, his breath hitching in his throat. "Who could have done this? Other clan cats? Perhaps those Rogues that were a problem to Sunclan a few moons ago...?" He felt hesitant to do so, but he circled around her body more to get any more clues. "But... they left her so mangled and broken..."

He narrowed his eyes as he thought more on it. "And she only has fur stuck in one paw. The others don't look like she's touched anything... This is quite puzzling..." He murmured. "Well if it's other cats, perhaps we should have more frequent patrols... but we shouldn't start pinning blame on anyone yet either..."

    Blazestorm
Blazestorm eyed Stonetuft questionably before turning his gaze to try and see what she saw. "What is it...? Is there something out there?" He asked, his fur staring to stand up more as he clawed at the earth under him anxiously.

He wondered what she saw- he couldn't quite see it himself- not yet anyways- but what could it be? If it was a fox, or even other cats from other clans, or rogues-- should he go against what Featherpool had ordered them to warn them...?

    Petalstorm

Petalstorm let out a small laugh as the kit had run into her, nodding and nudging the kit back towards the others. She watched carefully as they all bumbled around blindly. "Be careful now." She spoke. "Don't hurt yourselves." She added in.

    Cougarkit

Cougarkit heard the other, and ran towards her voice, leaping and trying to catch the other kit-- only to catch nothing but air. She growled to herself and stood straight again, embarrassed by her failure to catch Nettlekit. "Moonclan!" She called, turning her body to prepare to attack again. She heard her near her mother, so she rushed that way- only to run straight into her mother after Nettlekit had been nudged back towards the others.

    Grasskit
Grasskit had giggled and stood up herself. "I think this is pretty fun!" She exclaimed, turning her body to try and navigate towards the other kit's voice to find her and catch her.

    Jasperkit
Jasperkit was still trying to figure out direction-- having had already bumped into the walls of the Nursery a couple times before he finally got the right way, following after his sister, stumbling and stomping as if every step he took could be a step into a hole.

  • FeatherPool:

Having calmed his stomach her turned around and padded forward to join the two. "I feel it is now I must share some important information with you two." he murmured, "Sparrowstar, before setting out on her journey to the mooncave with Cloudfur, had not lost a single life." Silence settled around them. Featherpool looked first at Ghostfeather, and then Cloudwhisker, "Whatever happened, something or, as I suspect, someone, took all Sparrowstar's nine lives, one after another." Featherpool looked miserably down at his ex-leader's corpse. "It would have been agonising and long. Coming back to life and dying over and over... it's no wonder her body looks the way it does. And you're right, there's only fur under one paw. I reckon someone tried to remove evidence of them being here. They probably planted the fox fur as a cover. But they missed that one paw, that one piece of fur." Featherpool gingerly pulled the fur from between Sparrowstar's claws and held it out to both of them. It was ginger in colour, a small clump of hair. "Whose ever this is killed out leader." He drew himself up to his full height. "I've already reached my conclusion, but I want to be sure. Are we to believe another cat did this?"

    Stonetuft

"No, not that." She padded forward towards a low hanging tree branch. She gave it a sniff. "It's a piece of Cloudfur's fur." She mewed, "And it's covered in blood." She flicked her stumpy tail, "Come check, I must be going mad or something."

    GingerPaw:

Gingerpaw's agreeable-ness vanished in an instant, she looked him up and down, then gave a quiet nod. "Sure." She said, turning around to pad back into the centre of camp. She paused for a second, then darted by Acornleap and dashed out into the forest. "I'm just gonna hunt! Swear!" she called, a laugh in her voice, over her shoulder at him as she disappeared between the trees, fast thing she was.

    RavenWing:

RavenWing looked down at Crimsonpaw in surprise. She gave a nod, "I don't think I'll be much fun, but off course. You can probably collect some herbs whilst we go, too." She added, walking aimlessly. "I'm not sure where to go... towards sunclan? Or moonclan?" She let out a sigh, "Does it matter?" turning her green eyes on crimson paw, she tilted her head, "What do you think?"

    LarkKit:

LarkKit let out a harrumph and sat moodily in the corner, watching the others play.

    NettleKit:

Nettlekit gave a laugh, having the time of his life as he darted about. He whispered 'boo' in jasper kit's ear before giggling and jumping backwards. "Sunclan!" he called merrily, before darting to the corner and hiding, making a fair amount of scuffling noise along the way. He swore under his breath at the sounds he had made but it was too late now, he pressed himself low to the ground, feeling the other's movements through the floor, and prayed they wouldn't reach him.

  • Ghostfeather
Ghostfeather stared at the fur for a long moment before he nodded. "... Yes, I think another cat had to have does this. But who would be so cruel to do this...?" He sat himself down, seeming to be horrified, but also stricken with grief by just seeing their leader lay so lifeless...

He was puzzled, who would be so sick, so twisted, so bloodthirsty to take away all nine lives of their leader, one by one? It sickened him- it chilled him to the bone. The thought of it made his fur stand on his back. "What is your conclusion?" He asked. "What should our next step be to find out who did this to her?"

    Blazestorm
Blazestorm was hesitant, before he slowly followed after her, looking back at his post, then approached the branch, sniffing at it. Despite all the blood and smell of fox-- that was definitely his scent. "..... You're not going mad, that's definitely his scent... whatever happened, he must have gone this way-- or was TAKEN this way..."

He sniffed at the ground a bit, and tried to find any more traces of the tom. A blood trail would be useless- at least, this close to the awfully bloodied area they were in already... "I'm wondering why something or someone would kill Sparrowstar and leave her body, but the take Cloudfur possibly alive...?" He mumbled. "It doesn't make sense..."

    Cougarkit | Grasskit
Cougarkit had followed after the noise, her ears perked up as she rushed towards where Nettlekit had run, leaping and tumbling over the other kit. "Hah! I got you! Now I'm it!" She exclaimed, opening her eyes and staring at the other kit, hopping back and quickly thinking, before she ran around to the other side.

Grasskit now knew her sister was it, and stopped for a second. "Moonclan...!"

"Sunclan!" The kit answered back, quickly rushing to the other end. She was fast, and hard to catch, but she was LOUD. So she had to keep herself on the move.

    Jasperkit
Jasperkit was still stumbling around until he was next to bump into Larkkit, but not as hard as Grasskit had before--. He opened his eyes, and stared at her, before he huffed. "This game is hard..." He mumbled. He then decided to sit beside the other kit. "Whatcha doing sitting in the corner, Larkkit? Aren't you playing with us too?" He asked.

  • FeatherPool:

Featherpool furrowed his brow, his tail twitching back and forth across the ground. He let out a sharp breath. "I have no clue." He admitted. "i couldn't distinguish any scent from the fur, there are countless cats who are ginger in colour and Starclan haven't said a word." He looked from Ghostfeather to Cloudwhisker. "I'm sorry I can't be of more help. I suppose all we can do now is... be cautious."

    StoneTuft:

"You're right." Stonetuft nodded. She glanced around herself, her eyes fixing on a distant bush. "Look, there's another one over there..." Stonetuft gestured to it, a small tuft of white fur had caught there. "Maybe he left a trail for us to follow, on purpose or by accident. It's leading towards..." Stonetuft's mouth went dry. "Dear Starclan, Sunclan is in that direction." She looked back at Blazestorm. "Did Sunclan do this?"

    SwirlPaw:

Swirlpaw spotted a bird and got into a hunting crouch. Only two steps forward and her legs where shaking from the effort, pain aching in their bones. She stumbled and the bird stood alert, fluttering away before she'd even had a chance to pounce. She lay down, her legs, recovering, looking resignedly at the spot the bird had just been in.

    LarkKit:

LarkKit looked JasperKit up and down. "It's my brother." She admitted. "We used to play games like these all the time but..." She trailed off, watching her brother get caught by Cougarkit. "Eventually he'd get sad and go off in a huff." She turned to Jasperkit, "Hey, how old are you?"

    NettleKit:

Nettlekit scrabbled to his paws, his eyes to most alive they'd looked in a while. He charged to the other end of the bush, his feet speeding over the ground. One of them caught on a nest in his excitement and he tumbled over himself, rollin three times across the floor before coming to a stop with a thud at the foliage surrounding them. He flattened his ears in embarrassment.

  • Ghostfeather

Ghostfeather took a moment before nodding. "Right... Well, we're relying on you to speak with Starclan if you can... We need to appoint a new leader and deputy soon, or else the clan will be without order." He murmured. "Let's... do our best to cover up these wounds on Sparrowstar and take her back to the camp." He thought a moment. "We'll send out a patrol soon as well to make sure that whoever killed Sparrowstar is gone now and hopefully find Cloudfur..."

Even when he said that, he seemed doubtful that the Deputy was still alive. He wondered how Ravenwing was handling the situation..? Or her kits for that matter... He wondered when they should hold vigil for Cloudfur if he wasn't to be found...

    Blazestorm
Blazestorm seemed perplexed, his tail swaying from left to right. "They had to have. We should let Featherpool, Ghostfeather, and Cloudwhisker know about this. I think we have our culprit."

He shook his head. "I knew not to trust them. They're all mouse-brained." He grumbled.

    Shatterstone
Shatterstone had approached, sitting beside his resting apprentice for a moment. "That was a good shot." He commented. "I understand its much more difficult for you, but I know you can do it. Come on, stand up." He urged her upwards with his tail. "We can try this again."

Despite having a small temper on him- and being sometimes a bit pushy, he quite enjoyed mentoring Swirlpaw. She tried her hardest, and she wasn't overly confident in herself like some apprentices were... Though her condition also it made it much harder to train her properly-- she wasn't as capable as others, as much as he hated to say it--.

    Jasperkit | Grasskit | Cougarkit
"Oh..." He huffed. "Cougarkit is like that sometimes. She's really confident but she doesn't like being embarrassed much." mewled. He then perked up. "I'm two moons old! How old are you?" He asked.

Grasskit had stumbled over him and tripped as well, falling over him. She rolled off, and opened her eyes. "Oh-- sorry Nettlekit!" She rolled back onto her paws, nuzzling the other kit. "Are you okay?" She asked, cocking her head to one side.

"Hey! Close your eyes!" Cougarkit exclaimed, sitting herself down, a bit huffy that she had to wait for her sister to close her eyes again.

  • FeatherPool:

Featherpool nodded. "Good thinking." He murmured. He set to work on SparrowStar's body, moving fur around, adding herb dressings to cover the particularly gruesome wounds, fastening her tail in a correct position using twine. It all looked rather odd, but far more pleasant than what was underneath. Featherpool finished with some fragrant herbs to make her smell nice when a shift occurred. The clearing seemed... misty, like some kind of dream. Featherpool stalled, glancing around, then stood to his full height. (Which wasn't particularly tall, unlike his sister, he was a smaller thing.) The oddest thing was, both Ghostfeather and Cloudwhisker were still visible to him. They've been pulled into the vision too... He realised with a start. But there was a fourth cat sitting among them, right where Sparrowstar was. A small, white she cat with bright green eyes silently watched the three of them, her pelt glistening with the light of stars.

    EmberPelt||Swirlpaw

"Maybe go for prey that stays on the ground next time." he joked, plodding over to them. He looked up at the birdie the tree. "Fox dung, ain't no reaching that." He swished his tail. "No worries, I'm sure we'll find some slow mice you can get."

Swirlpaw looked at Shatterstone in shame first, but then brightened at his words. It was clear she had to force herself to be optimistic, but she did so anyway. She listened to Emberpelt and laughed uncomfortably. "Uh, yeah, of course." She mewed softly, glancing up at the bird. No way of you reaching your dead make. She thought spitefully, a flash of anger flaring in her stomach. She forced it down. Calm. She scolded herself. No benefit in being mean. Yeah, but he can't hear this, can he? She argued with herself. True. He has a dead mate, and he's kinda fat. With a chubby face. She felt satisfied at her mental insults, and got to her feet, setting off for another prey opportunity. She hung her mouth open to scent for prey. "Mouse." She said to Shatterstone, "By the river." She added. It wasn't too far away.

    StoneTuft:

Stonetuft narrowed her eyes. "I'm just so surprised. Why? We helped them against the rouges, they were so grateful, even! It seemed a happy alliance was forming between us..." She shook her head in confusion, "I've never felt so... cheated. And after I spoke in their favour, too..." Guilt played on her face, her paws shifting in anxiety.

    LarkKit:

"Uuh..." LarkKit tapped her paw on the floor a few times. "Three... I think? I'm not that sure. Mum and Dad have been so busy so no one's been keeping count." She laughed.

    NettleKit:

"Fine!" He grumbled, recoiling at the contact, "Fine..." He shook himself out, a few pieces of bedding had stuck to his fur. "Let's keep playing!" he added.

  • Ghostfeather

Ghostfeather blinked, confused by the visions he was seeing. Was this... a Starclan cat? He wasn't quite expecting such a sudden encounter. Frozen in place, he gave Featherpool a look, then back at the Starclan cat. She seemed... familiar. He couldn't quite remember how though...

He had thought on speaking, before he quickly decided not to. He would let Featherpool speak... Maybe this was what they were hoping for- maybe the Starclan cat was here to give them guidance... He had so many questions to ask- about what happened with Sparrowstar, who did it to her, what they should do about it-- who would be the next leader and deputy...?

    Blazestorm
Blazestorm growled. "We'll show them. They're lucky none of our cats are willing enough to go slaughter THEIR leader." He hissed. "And kidnap their deputy." He had calmed himself down shortly after, but still, his fur was fluffed out in his agitated state, making him look a tad bigger than he actually was.

"Let's go back, and wait for the others. We'll tell them about it when they come back out."

    Shatterstone
Shatterstone nodded, urging her along. "Go on, I'll be right by you." He told her. He gave Emberpelt a glare. "And you keep your mouth shut." He hissed. "Discouraging her won't do her any good." He added. He then continued on with Swirlpaw.

"Remember, try to keep your balance." He whispered to her. "Don't rush yourself. If you need to, rest your belly on the ground, but don't move." He told her. "And make sure you're close enough to pounce. I know you can do it." He assured her. He felt sometimes he was a little too soft on her but... he felt it was the best way to keep her motivated.

    Jasperkit
"Three?" His eyes gleamed with amazement. "We're nearly the same age! Aw, but that also means you'll become apprentices before we do." He huffed. "It'll be lonely in here when you do become apprentices..! Who do you think is going to mentor you when you become an apprentice? I want Acornleap to mentor me!" He exclaimed.

    Grasskit | Cougarkit
Grasskit nodded and closed her eyes again, hopping backwards and getting a feel for her surroundings. "Moonclan!"

"Sunclan!" Cougarkit responded, circling around Petalstorm, and waiting before she would dart back to the other side.

The moment she tried, though, Grasskit accidentally ran right into her, and she smiled. "I got you!" She exclaimed. "I'm it now!"

Cougarkit huffed, and stood. "Fine... that was totally luck, though!" She exclaimed, closing her eyes again and waiting.

"Okaaay~." She moved around the other kits and waited patiently.

  • FeatherPool:

Featherpool watched in utter amazement. He realised who the cat was. "Whitepaw..." He murmured, one of the apprentices who had been killed in the efforts to save Sunclan from the rouges, and Cloudfur and Ravenwing's first child. Whitepaw took in a deep breath, her voice echoing around them.

"Beware the wolf in..." she paused, trying to keep a straight face. "Beware the wolf in sheep's clothing, beware the Snake amongst the Pigeons." Featherpool sat stock still. Do I know anyone with the 'Wolf', 'Snake' or 'Pigeon' suffix? He wondered, and realised with a start that he did. From both Sunclan and Moonclan. The Sunclan deputy was called SnakeBelly, and there was a Sunclan apprentice called Pigeonpaw. Finally, there was a Moonclan warrior named Wolf... Wolf... Wolf something, he couldn't remember. (If one of you two want to name the Moonclan warrior go for itXD) His wide blue eyes were still fixed on Whitepaw, who seemed to be tensing up. Then, abruptly, Whitepaw burst out laughing. "This prophecy stuff is hilarious!" She cackled, "Oh my Starclan - wait, that's me!" She laughed even more, "Oh this is brilliant." She breathed out, a giggle gracing her voice still, as her form began to fade. Featherpool could just make out unapproving murmurs around Whitepaw, as if someone was telling her off. Whitepaw's face shifted to annoyed. She rolled her eyes, "Oh, do leave be." She retorted, then said something else, but Featherpool could no longer make her words out. Whitepaw looked a bit stunned, trying to speak to them again, but she seemed to realise she was losing touch.

"Whitepaw!" He called after her desperately, looking from Ghostfeather to Cloudwhisker in panic.

    StoneTuft:

"Too right." Stonetuft mutter in anger, nodding her agreement, when there was a sudden crashing noise in the distance, by Suncan territory. Stonetuft's ears perked. "Another rock fall. That's the third one this moon." She narrowed her eyes, "Serves them right." She turned back to Blazestorm when her ears twitched again. "Do you hear that?" She asked curiously. She strained her ears again. A faint, pitiful mew could be heard in the distance. Her eyes widened. "You don't think..." She looked over to the sunclan border, where the crash and sounded, and there was no a call for help.

    SwirlPaw:

Swirlpaw took his advice seriously. It took a very long time for her to approach the mouse. She crawl, more silently than any apprentice her age had before, clearly she practised a great deal. But she couldn't do it for a long. A few paces. Rest. A few paces. Rest. Her legs shook like leaves in the wind and her teeth were gritted the whole way there, but she wasn't about to stop. Emberpelt it watching. She reminded herself, fury spurring her paws onwards. By the time she made it to the mouse she was exhausted, but ready to pounce. Then the mouse moved slightly down the river bed, and Swirlpaw wasn't sure if she had the reserves to make the distance. "Screw it." She muttered, and charged out of her hiding spot. She made the ground in a quick time, her shaking paws gaining strength with every step. It was messy, and she was lucky, but at least she'd caught the thing. She turned around, feeling a small sense of pride rise within herself.

Emberpelt opened his mouth to say something, but thought better of it.

    LarkKit:

"I hadn't even thought about who would mentor me..." LarkKit admitted. "Hmmm... The next leader - or deputy!" She added hastily. "Either would do."

    NettleKit:

NettleKit watched. He ran around a few times, but his spirit had clearly faded. He was tiring of the game and ended up sitting down and just listening.
