    Besides that have fun! ~Starypelt

  • “What’s going on?” Emberpelt’s voice rose above the general murmur of the gathered clan members. Daisystem seemed just as adgitated.

“Where’s SparrowStar?” He asked, referring to their leader. Featherpool, the young Eclipseclan Medicine cat, sat atop the leader's rock, a place no medicine cat made a habit of sitting. Stonetuft watched her brother on the rock, silent as she patiently waited, heart anxiously thudding, for the explanation of their leader's absence.

“We found SparrowStar.” Featherpool’s voice rang clearly throughout the sandy hollow. The murmurs died. Featherpool swallowed, shifting his paws, “She’s dead.”

ooc jump straight in and post your sign up form afterwards in 'ooc'

  • Here's my forms for ya! Sorry it's a good few!

  • ooc coffee and Kalna, either of you two want to be mentor to either Gingerpaw or Swirlpaw? Ginger paw is a bit more of a handful whereas Swirlpaw is soft spoken and sickly, with injured legs, but has a good heart.

  • Ooc oh, also, Kalna, in terms of deputy and ghost feather we are gonna play through this first bit and then feather pool will make a decision with a little guidance from Starclan. So if you want Ghost feather to be deputy he'll need to behave in such a way that feather pool and Starclan will be like 'yeah, he'll make a good leader/deputy'

  • Alright yeah! I can do that with Ghostfeather. Also one of my cats can mentor one of the apprentices- maybe Shatterstone can? I don't mind which one! ))

Ghostfeather and Shatterstone had joined the others not too soon before the news were brought to them. Hearing that their leader had died, had made them both, well, upset.

"Who did it?" Another voice spoke up- Blazestorm was weaving his way around others to make it more towards the front. "Who killed her? Was it a fox?"

Ghostfeather eyed the other tom carefully. "I don't think it matters as much of who killed her rather than how we're going to move forward. What's the next step now that Sparrowstar is dead..?" He kept his eye on Blazestorm, then returned his gaze to Featherpool, awaiting an answer.

From the nursery, Petalstorm sat down with her three kits, hushing them as the other warriors spoke with the medicine cat. She was worried herself about the death of their leader- what exactly happened and what they were going to do next.

  • Ooc Sure! He can mentor swirlpaw :)

Ic Featherpool's eyes fixed on Blazestorm, uncertain. He opened his mouth to respond, a hesitant look in his eyes as he stalled his words.

He was cut of by Ghostfeather and closed his mouth, his eyes darting to and forth.

"It gets worse." He admitted at last, avoiding the topic of the nature of SparrowStar's passing. Emberpelt narrowed his eyes.

"How?" Emberpelt called, "And where's Cloudfur, shouldn't he be telling us this?" Cloudfur was the deputy of Eclipseclan. Featherpool swallowed again. He was young and had been made the medicine cat before full training due to the unexpected early passing of his mentor, Kinkedfur.

"Cloudfur... is missing. Likely from the same thing that took Sparrowstar from us." Feather pool flicked his tail from left to right, the size of the crowd, their murmurs and the complexity of the situation rising around him like water. He had no clue what to do, but as the only remaining 'cat of authority' it fell to him to make decisions in this time.

Stonetuft's fur bristled at Featherpool's news and she urgently trotted over to Ghostfeather.

"We should do something." She murmured to him subtly, "Sparrowstar's body hasn't even been collected yet and I can sense Featherpool is losing control."

Ooc can Ghostfeather be Stonetuft's previous mentor?? I like that idea :) She's a young warrior too as she's Featherpool's sister

Ic RavenClaw yawned herself awake and padded over to Petalstorm, her two kits asleep in their nest.

"What's all this noise?" She asked.

  • Alright cool! And yeah, that sounds like a good idea~! ))

Ghostfeather nodded. He knew Featherpool was having a difficult time- he wasn't meant for these kinds of situations... and with the leader and the deputy both gone, it made him wonder what exactly happened. He stood up and moved forward, daring to hop up onto the rock with the medicine cat, looking to him and nodding. "Quiet down." He spoke out. "We need to keep calm in this situation. We're out of a deputy and a leader- which means we need to choose them." He spoke. "I think the best thing for us to do is to retrieve Sparrowstar's body, and perhaps Featherpool should go to speak with Starclan."

"And why should we listen to you?" Blazestorm asked, now sitting down with his tail curled over his paws.

"Because who are you going to listen to? We don't have a deputy or a leader. We need someone to take control, and Featherpool can't do it on his own."

Shatterstone stood. "So should we send a patrol out to find Sparrowstar's body?"

".... Yes. I think that would be a good idea. Me, Stonetuft, Emberpelt, and Blazestorm will go. From now on, we will be wary when going hunting or on patrols."

Petalstorm sighed. "Sparrowstar is dead and Cloudfur is missing... I'm not sure of what happened, but I hope this gets resolved soon." She muttered. "I hope whatever killed Sparrowstar and took Cloudfur doesn't find our camp..."

  • Featherpool seemed somewhat relieved, but held his bushy grey tail up for silence.

"Blazestorm, until a new deputy and leader are appointed you listen to me and, as of now, Ghostfeather. He is an experienced Warrior and will aid me in my guiding of the clan until further notice." Ghostfeather at his side, Featherpool seemed to have regained his confidence. He swept his tail around his paws. "As for a patrol, it is true we must retrieve Sparrowstar's body. But we can't spare four warriors for this duty. I shall accompany you in place of Emberpelt." Featherpool gave his head a nod, "For now, that is all. Emberpelt, Shatterstone and Swirlpaw should go on a hunting patrol. Stonetuft, Blazestorm, wait by the bramble tunnel. We'll be along shortly." He gave a decisive flick of his ear and jumped down from the rock, motioning for Ghostfeather to follow him with his tail. Featherpool disappeared into the medicine den. He nodded to Crimsonpaw, "I'll need the den for a moment. I need to talk to Ghostfeather." He told her curtly, his hackles raised in anxiety, "Wait outside."

Stonetuft let out a low breath, padding over to Blazestorm.

"Come on, let's go wait." She mewed flatly. She wasn't keen on the tom, he was too loud-mouthed for her.

Emberpelt seemed affronted that he'd been removed from the retrieval patrol, but spoke nothing of it. He plodded over to Shatterstone, giving him a pleasant nod.

"Shall we?" He asked, his amber eyes glancing back towards the leader's rock.

RavenWing's eyes widened. "Cloudfur...?" She hissed in disbelief. Cloudfur was her mate, and father to her two kits, Nettlekit and Larkkit. She looked out across the camp. "No... It can't be..." She looked back at her kits, her eyes misty.

  • Ooc: Cloudwhisker can mentor Gingerpaw if you'd like!

    Ic:

    Crimsonpaw:

Crimsonpaw had heard what was going on from the comfort of the medicine cat's den. At first she didn't want to leave it, but now with her mentor looming over her with his hackles raised and his voice stiff with what sounded like fear the young apprentice had no choice.

"Yes, Feathpool," she replied softly and trotted past the two cats. She nodded to Ghostfeather as she went and a thought crossed her curious young mind, would Ghostfeather be the new leader or deputy?

The russet colored she-cat padded into the clearing, she was searching out for Cloudwhisker, he would know what to tell her, but she couldn't find him amongst the panicked crowd so instead she veered from the crowd and darted to the nursery were she saw Petalstorm and Ravenclaw

"Do you two need anything?" She asked. Crimsonpaw figured that she could still keep herself busy by going about her daily duties, and one of those duties was tending to the queens.

    Cloudwhisker:

Cloudwhisker was shocked by the news. How could both their leader and their deputy be missing? Part of the white and grey tom was relived that he did not have to go on the patrol to retrieve the body of his leader and his friend, another part of him wanted to go. Then a small pang in the back of his mind was almost jealous that Ghostfeather was chosen by Feathpool and that he wasn't. Though, Cloudwhisker thought, if Starclan chooses him then it must be his right.

He remembered Crimsonpaw and worried about her for a moment until he saw the young apprentice over by the nursery with the queens. At least she was keeping busy.

    Mossfur:

The pretty tortishell sat outside of the warriors den, listening to the news with a rigid form. The news was awful. What was the clan going to do now? Since Mossfur hadn't been chosen for the patrol, the she-cat really did not know what to do with herself besides sit in the shadow of the warriors den and give her fur a few anxious licks.

    Acornleap:

Acornleap, upon hearing the news, slumped down on his side at the base of the leader's rock and laid his head on his paws. He was overtaken by grief. It was awful. Both the deputy and the leader missing. He didn't know what to do, so he figured he would lay there until someone told him to do something.

  • Ghostfeather watched after Featherpool before he hopped down the rock after him to his den. He hoped he had made the right decision-. Being in charge was something he wasn't used to, but not entirely foreign to it. He looked back to make sure that the others were doing as Featherpool had said, before he disappeared into the den. The smell of herbs filled his nose, the strong smell somewhat comforting to him--

Blazestorm grumbled some and stood up, his tail swaying from side to side as he walked past Stonetuft towards the bramble tunnel. "I don't think just some warrior should be taking control." He mumbled to her, looking over. "Ghostfeather may be capable, but I won't accept him as a leader- or even a deputy- until I get some confirmation from Starclan." He mumbled. Once they had made it, he sat himself down and waited.

Shatterstone nodded to the other tom, looking back to the medicine cat den, and then searched for his apprentice. "These are sad news... I hope Starclan gives us a sign soon about what to do next.." He mumbled. "Swirlpaw!" He called once he spotted the she-cat. He flicked his tail to motion her to join him and Emberpelt.

Petalstorm looked to the other queen with a empathetic look. She leaned herself into the other queen in assurance--. She had become good friends with the other queen after their time together in the Nusery- even outside of the Nursery... She didn't have her mate anymore- she could remember when she lost him. She could understand the pain that the other must been feeling right now...

"I'm fine for right now." She told the apprentice softly. "Right now Ravenwing needs some comfort..." She muttered.

  • Ravenwing's green eyes were wide with misery, "Is it true?" The queen asked, her voice a low whisper. She leant towards Crimsonpaw, "Is Cloudfur missing? If he is I... I don't know how I'll tell my kits." She shook her head sadly, "First I lose Whitepaw, now Cloudfur. If anything happens to Nettlekit or Larkkit..." ravenwing focussed on the feeling of Petalstorm, trying to keep on her feet.

a thought struck Featherpool and he popped his head out of the medicine cats den, whiskers twitching. His blue eyes searched the faces around the camp, landing on a white and grey tom. "Cloudwhisker!" he called the tom over, then ducked mysteriously back inside.

ooc as they're both tortishell's can Daisystem and Mossfur be brother and sister? That would also mean Mossfur would be sister to Dustheart, who is dead.

Daisystem sat down next to Mossfur, his lithe tail lashing. "What is this nonsense. I can't believe Sparrowstar's dead! I know we had our differences, but..." Daisystem mewed, referring to the Sunclan patrol a few moons back. Sunclan had been under attack by rouges and Sparrowstar had insisted on sending some of their warriors to aid them. Sunclanner's were built for climbing and jumping, not fighting. Dustheart, Daisystem's brother, had died in the patrol.

Gingerpaw was sitting next to Acronleap, just as surprised. "I..." She couldn't form words.

Stonetuft let out a huff of amusement, "And I suppose you'd be much better for the position?" She retorted. "Right now, we could use an experienced warrior to help guide us." She let out a breath, "Though, you aren't entirely wrong, some word from Starclan would be useful."

Swirlpaw jumped, as if under attack, then settled her fur down and limped as quickly as she could over to them. Her bushy fur had some leaves tangled in it and her eyes were wide and fearful. She remained quiet, not uttering a word. Emberpelt eyed the usually talkative apprentice.

"What's up with you?" He asked. Swirlpaw averted her eyes.

"I was the one who found her." She mewed quietly.

  • Ooc: Sure that is fine with me! Acornleap is also Mossfur's brother so Daisystem would also be Acornleap's brother.

    Ic:

    Crimsonpaw:

Crimsonpaw sat next to Ravenclaw, she wasn't much help when it came to comforting others but she would do her best. She gently touched her nose to the queen's shoulder for a moment before pulling away again.

"All we know for sure is that Sparrowstar is dead... They are sending out a patrol. It is possible that Cloudfur is still alive," Crimsonpaw mewed softly. The young apprentice didn't know if it was right to keep Ravenclaw's hopes up like that. However, the young apprentice new that if it were her in that situation, she would still want to have hope.

    Cloudwhisker:

Cloudwhisker's head spun around at the call of Featherpool. What could he want me for? The tom thought before padding in the direction of the medicine cat's den. He slipped in, greeted by the scent of many different herbs, the mixture of scents made his nose twitch.

"You wanted to see me, Featherpool?" The tom asked, nodding to Ghostfeather.

    Mossfur:

Mossfur let out a heavy sigh and thought back to that day for just a brief moment. Perhaps this is why she is so cold. She glanced over at Daisystem.

"I know," She meowed softly, "Even though we had our difference's with Sparrowstar we will still mourn her. Despite what she did... She was still a good leader."

    Acornleap:

Acornleap sat up and placed his tail gently on the apprentice. The poor thing was shaken up just as he was.

"I know, its pretty hard to believe," Acornleap gently meowed to the young apprentice.

Acornleap always thought he could relate with the apprentices more than he could relate with the actual warriors. It was odd, but he was glad that he could be useful and give comfort to the younger members of the clan.

  • Ravenwing nodded, but her hopes seemed to be as dead as Sparrowstar. She'd resigned herself to the loss of her mate already, a symptom of having lost so much already. "How will I tell them..." She looked over her shoulder at her kits. Then, realising she was only talking to an apprentice, correct herself, "I'm sorry, I don't mean to trouble you with this." It was rather heavy stuff, and Crimsonpaw seemed too nice a cat to deal with it.

Featherpool settled himself down, looking from Ghostfeather to Cloudwhisker. "I need to talk to you both. You're experienced warriors and, at this time, I feel the most capable of keeping this to yourselves." Featherpool lowered his voice, "You have to understand, this was no ordinary death. Swirlpaw led me to where Sparrowstar lay, and..." Featherpool cut himself off. "Perhaps it is best you look yourselves, before I cloud your judgement with bias. We shall go, and you two must look over the scene as thoroughly as you can, then tell me what conclusions you draw... if they are the same as mine, then, we'll have a problem on our hands." Featherpool glanced around the medicine den, "Stonetuft and Blazestorm mustn't enter the clearing where Sparrowstar lies. They are coming along as guards, nothing more, we must keep this contained until we have our facts in order. No rumours of murmurs can spread through the clan." He turned his harsh blue eyes on each of them in turn, "Do I have your word on this?"

Daisystem seemed oddly reluctant. "Think of what it did, though. I protested, loudly, I begged them not to send aid and she did so anyway. She belittled my concerns, laughed, even. Look at what happened." He lashed his tail, "Our brother dies, and so did Cloudfur and Ravenwing's child, Whitepaw. Not to mention Emberpelt's mate, littlespot. It was too high a price to pay only to save sunclan." Dustheart narrowed his eyes, took a breath, and settled himself. "No. You're right, I'm getting carried away. Someone had to make the decision, and it was an unlucky outcome... She will be missed."

Gingerpaw seemed comforted for a moment, then realised herself and shifted away, "I'm fine." She mewed tensely. "We should keep the borders well patrolled, no doubt Moonclan will see this as a ripe opportunity to take land. Maybe even Sunclan will pluck up the guts to nick prey with Sparrowstar gone." She muttered in a foul mood.

ooc Cool! So they were a litter of four, and now a litter of three

  • Ghostfeather nodded back to Cloudwhisker, and sat himself down carefully, staring at Featherpool- the light filtering in from the entrance was the only thing illuminating the two other cats for Ghostfeather to see. "You have my word..." He spoke. What did he mean... what had HAPPENED? He was quite honestly a little afraid about what he would be seeing very soon. "We should go then... The sooner we can get there, the more time we have to talk over it and decide on what we will do..." He thought a moment. "Though... If we don't want any other eyes seeing it yet what will we do with Sparrowstar's body? We can't just leave it there..."

Petalstorm nodded. "Right, he could be still out there.." She muttered, seeing how that hadn't changed how she felt at all about the situation. "But if... if he isn't..." The other queen licked her shoulder assuringly. "I'll be here for you, Ravenwing." The three kits at Petalstorm's feet seem to had snuck back into the Nusery after hearing about the situation as well. They didn't quite understand all of it, but they could understand it was sad--.

Blazestorm shook his head. "Not at all. I'll be one of the first to admit that I would not be good as a leader." He mewed. "I just want the best for the clan. I don't want just anyone leading our clan, since now we don't have that comfort right now that the next leader and deputy will be chosen out wisely..." He stared out. "... I hope Cloudfur is alright, though..."

Shatterstone's eyes widened, before he nodded his head. "I see..." He took a deep breath. He nudged his apprentice after she came close enough. "Well, it's a good thing you found her. With her missing, we would have been wondering about her whereabouts for much longer.." He didn't quite know what else to say--. "... Let's go. I'm sure hunting will take your mind off things a little bit." He mumbled.
