Vineclan

As you stumble through the forest, vines tugging at your body, attempting to slow you down. You break your way through, the vines falling limp behind you. Continuing your way through the territory, you come across a group of cats patrolling their territory. Startled, you dive behind a bush, but they have already seen you. They drag you out before saying that they will take you to their leader. Will you prove yourself?

Origin

Vineclan was formed 323 moons ago (roughly 26 years and 11 moons). Fireshine had just left her clan after they killed her mate and kits. She had no where to go until the Whispering Trees spoke to her. They told her to rename herself Fireoak and that she would form Vineclan. She began recruiting cats from everywhere, accepting each and every one of them. She made sure to respect everyones stories and beliefs.

Fireoak left behind a son and a daughter. The eldest of the two, Dancingwood, took over the clan. He became Dancingoak and continued to rule wisely. The reigning family is still in control today, all the way down to Sparklingoak.

Traditions & Marking Ceremonies

Kit birth: When a kit, or Smiling Tree, is born they are given a rune, or marking. This is unique and hasn’t been used for at least 10 years. While this can get confusing, the mark often represents the cat’s personality. This mark stay with them as it is burned into their skin. This is a solemn time for the clan as they prepare to care for another life.

Apprenticed: when a kit becomes a learner they are given the learning tune. Everyone has this rune, unless they were from another clan. It is also burned into the skin. Unlike a kitting, new learners are rejoiced as a new asset to the clan.

Warrior: when a learner graduates they go on a trip through the woods, where, a tree of any kind will whisper their ancestor to them. Their ancestors kit rune is then burned into their skin. They then take the suffix of their ancestor.

Leadership: when a new speaking oak is incarnated, they are given a crown marking, which marks that they are (or were) the leader.

Death: When a cat dies their kit rune is crossed out and then they are buried. This is a time for celebration as the cat has joined the whispering trees or the killing trees. The whispering trees are like Starclan, the killing trees being the Darkforest.

Ranks & Markings

Ranks

HIGH ADULT POSITIONS

Speaking Oak- leader of the clan. This is the line of reigning leiniage. They rule over the clan with guidance from their council, the Singing Maples. Oaks are able to take a mate and have kits, though they are required to have a child. This child, or the eldest is the Learning Oak. Suffix is -oak.

Singing Maples- the guiding council to the Speaking Oak. They help make decisions and have the power to overrule the Oak if needed. Suffix is -maple.

Healing willows- the healers if the clan. They need to have proper knowledge of herbs and wounds/illnesses. They can take a mate and have kits, but only if the other willow can take over their duties. suffix is -willow

LEARNING HIGH POSITIONS

Learning Oak- the eldest child of the Speaking Oak, they learn how to properly rule. Suffix is -tree

Learning Maples- the next Singing Maples. Thy learn how to serve on the council. Suffix is -tree

Learning Willows- those training to become the next healing willow. Suffix is -tree

NORMAL ADULT POSITIONS

Tall Alps- warriors of the clan. Any suffix

Small Pines- hunters of the clan, any suffix

Watching Spruce- watch over kits and care for queens.

2. Please post at least a 5 sentence paragraph. I understand that life gets busy, but I would like to try and keep this thread active.

Often times they're quick to jump to conclusions, and volunteer for things they can't handle. "You three pets?" She asked with a blink. They didn't really exude the typical pet charm.

I think it'd be cool for Thistle to be actually in contact with the Tree Killers without realizing it's not the Whispering Trees. They pretend to guide them toward being a better Healer and a more impressive cat, but eventually have them do more and more messed up stuff until Thistle's apart of them without knowing. Tis' a slippery slope.

Whitewillow was always seeking approval from the ones around her. From kithood, she had a very deep rooted fear of disappointing her elders. Becoming a healer has only intensified that as White now has an entire clan counting on her. White is a gentle she-cat who can get overwhelmed and lost in her head easily. She requires a lot of grounding - most of which she can find in her work. She's plenty capable at what she does, but she lacks confidence. (This is an example I stole off one of my charries)

Pushing a stubborn strand of hair behind her pointed ears, Barren sighed and pulled out her beloved gun, feeding it six bullets from her bag and pocketing two more. Glancing at the setting sun she cursed and pushed her gun back into its holster and closed her bag. She didn't want to be outside in this wasteland when the night creatures came out, so she started running towards the junkyard she called home. Thanking whatever powerful being there is up there for granting her long legs, she reached the campsite in a few minutes where she skidded to a stop, falling to her side and striking a match to light up the lanterns. Her foot clanged against the pan next to her bed and she kicked it away to find a pair of glowing red eyes staring at her. She screamed, dragged out her gun and fired, all whilst kicking her way back towards the enterance of the camp. One of the bullets hit the thing and it screeched, then the shadow leapt towards her and she fired again. It hit its eye and it grunted and veered of to the side. Another darker shadow slammed into it and they crashed against one of the poles supporting the place. The bigger shadow growled, and Barren focused her gaze on the golden ring that held her Necromancy powers in it and threw a sharp arrow into the smaller being. The sharp shadow slammed into its chest. It shrieked in pain and ran out of the camp, knocaking over supplies as it fled and causing the bigger shadow to skip out of the way to avoid having a pile of of books fall on it. Barren surveyed her camp. It wasn't that bad. She could fix the things easily. She looked at the bigger shadow. "M, you're supposed to watch the camp and make sure nothing happens when I'm gone!" She scolded. Her wolf sauntered into the light, muzzle bright. "I was sleeping. Plus, you've booby-trapped the junkyard anyways."He said, looking at her.

"You what!?" She screamed at him, furious. He dipped his head and skittered away.

"Sorry Alpha." He said, peeking at her as she stalked away, muttering about stupid shifters.

"I want this place fixed when I return." She snapped, stomping her way out of the camp and kicking a piece of scrap metal away. She heard the familiar shink as he shifted and scowled.

The brute was standing up on his hind legs, which were trembling from excitement, to the young dog's embarrassment. With his large white paws pressed up against the chain link fence, he watched his musher approach one end of the kennels with a bucket carrying something positively delightful-smelling. Wiggling his haunches back and forth, the eager husky's whines of anticipation lengthened into a long howl as he tipped his head back.

As the newest member of the team, saying the young male was excited for the race tomorrow was an understatement. It would be Maverick's first time racing as a sled dog and he was exhilarated. And terrified. And nervous. And maybe a little hungry? Silvertree has yet to show her true colors to many of her clanmates. Born to a cruel father and destined to lead the clan one day, she has learned the art of survival within the clan under Sparklingoak's leadership. She appears cold and emotionless, especially around her father. During day-to-day activities, she acts towards nearly everything with boredom to hide her true feelings. In reality, she despises her father and everything he does to harm others in the clan. She believes in a fair, justified clan and awaits the day when she can lead them with honor and dignity. She is a friendly cat, and can even be caught joking around and playing when her father isn't around. Unfortunately, due to her duty, she has been forced into a mindset of survival and acts accordingly, doing what she must to maintain her father's trust until the day comes when he will be overthrown and she can rule as a strong yet fair leader.
