Tribe History & Territory
The Tribe of Thundering Night, was named because when the new tribe was formed the
cats had been searching for a new home for some time, the night they found
their new camp there had been a massive thunder storm and had they not found
their camp they probably would not have survived. They have been here for so
long and the story is not often told.
The cats that were in the group were from a clan but had left because they didn't agree with everything the clan had done, so the changed things to fit their opinions and created their own tribe.
They live in an expanse of rolling hills, a river starts in their territory that flows down into a forest. Their camp is at the mouth of the river, where it is nothing more than a stream and a pond that is underground. The leader and healer go there to share tongues with their ancestors, the pool is also a symbol of new beginnings for them. (Need name for this spot) Learners have to go here before they take a position as a hunter or warrior.
They have adapted to their territory by growing larger and thicker fur. (Mainecoon for reference)
The tribe has been in this area for many, many generations now and they try to be
welcoming to outsiders but not many are welcome to stay. And if they do come
and want to join the tribe they must do a trial period as well as multiple
tests to determine their strengths and if they belong as a hunter or Warrior.
~ Current Tribe Situation ~
Their leader was just murdered, no one knows by who or what.
WhiteClaw is on his way to The Shallows to be granted his leadership and become WhiteStar, his apprentice is to be named deputy so they heading into the cavern to speak with their ancestors. The learners have been chosen from and one in particular has succeeded in the trials and will become the next Deputies Apprentice which will be announced after the New Leader and Deputy return.
They believe in their ancestors, which they call Those who walk among the Stars, or for short Star Walkers. Their place of religion is called The Shallows, which is where, the leaders, healers, and deputies go to speak to the Star Walkers and hold vigil for new healers, healers apprentices, deputies, deputies apprentice, and new leaders. They are required to hold a 3 night vigil, no food, they may not speak to anyone and may only drink from The Shallows, The Star Walkers will grant their approval at that time and sometimes send omens, prophecies or other important things.

~ Tribe Code ~
- Defend your Tribe, even with your life. Friendships with outsiders are frowned upon but not strictly forbidden as long as you understand your tribe comes first.
- Do not hunt or trespass on another's territory.
- Elders, Queens and Kits must always be fed first. If any cat is sick or injured, they may eat while the elders, queens, and kits are eating.
- Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to Ancestors for its life.
- A kit must be at least six moons old to become a Learner.
- Newly appointed Warriors or Hunters will sit a vigil following their ceremony.
- The deputy will become leader when the leader dies, retires or is exiled.
- Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.
- No warrior can neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if the kit is a outsider
- The word of the leader is the code.
- An honorable cat does not need to kill other cats to win their battles, unless it is necessary for self-defense.
~ Position Descriptions ~
(Must Read Over!)
Leader- their word is law. Leaders are granted 9 lives from their ancestors. They speak to the ancestors more than any other cat, their only true duty is to rule the tribe, settle disputes and such. They make the final call on decisions.
Deputy- is second in command and will become leader. They oversee the general everyday functions of the tribe, the deputy is usually chosen at a young age by the leader and Ancestors and will train under the current Deputy for both fighting and hunting as well as learning how to lead the clan so that when they are to become deputy they are prepared. These are chosen when the current Deputy is to become leader. Their Apprentice then becomes Deputy and the next in line is chosen.
Deputies Apprentice - Their apprentice will be chosen from current Learners. Seniors will be asked to choose two learners from each task and they will then undergo trials where they must demonstrate skills in both fighting and hunting. As they do the trials, the leader will be observing everything and speaking with the Ancestors regarding the choice. Once the apprentice has excelled in all training and reached the proper age the will no longer be referred to as apprentice but instead Assistant. Once they have reached the Assistant title they may train a Learner in one of the tasks, or both if they feel that when they are to become deputy they would like that learner to go through trials.
Healer- is their medicine cat and will usually have a apprentice and sometimes an assistant. Healers may not take a mate nor have kits of their own, if it is something that becomes unavoidable they must step down from their role as healer and live life in the Tribe but as an outcast until the kits are born, after the kits are born into the Tribe they are given to a nursing Queen or Queen Mother and the Outcast and Mate are exiled from the territory. Because of this most healers are toms, it is a serious crime against their ancestors for a healer to have kits.
Healers, and Deputy serve as council to the leader if there are any big decisions needed that will affect the whole tribe.
Senior Warrior- is usually the most experience warrior in the tribe and is responsible for overseeing training and reporting border patrol findings or issues to the Leader and Deputy. Will also serve on council for big decisions.
Senior Hunter- is usually the most experienced hunter in the tribe and is responsible for overseeing training and reporting hunting patrol findings or issues to the leader and Deputy. Will also serve on council for big decisions.
Queen Mother- is an experienced queen and has dedicated her life to serving other queens and their kits.
Warriors- Are responsible for border patrols, fighting and ensuring the general safety of the tribe. There must always be a patrol of two or more warriors out and there are guards posted around the camp to alert for danger or a outsider. There must also be one warrior out with hunting patrols.
Hunters- Are responsible for providing food for the tribe.
Learners- Are assigned to a hunter and a warrior to determine their strengths, and then the senior hunter and warrior will asses their skill level and determine if their training will continue as a warrior or hunter after two moons of training. Are responsible for care of the elders den and queens den.
Queens- Are either pregnant or nursing she-cats and are responsible for the care of all kits. and Teaching the kits the way of the tribe.
Kits- Have no responsibilities but must learn the ways of the Tribe.
Elders- have no resposibility, but are honored because of their service to the tribe.
