  • (Since we need more open threads besides intros, here's a game of hide 'n seek. Mainly for kits but ofc apprentices and warriors are more than welcome to join or ruin the fun)

The closer Bluekit got to six moons of age, the more antsy she became to get out of the nursery and do something more productive. Perhaps she just wanted a distraction, or maybe she was bored with the constant mossball games. Ashkit had made those fun, but Ashkit was now Ashpaw and now those games were a little lackluster. However, Bluekit knew that she had to do something with her day or else she'd die of boredom. Really, she actually was so bored she felt sick. So, the gray kitten stood up from the nest she shared with Doestar's kittens and looked around. "Does anyone want to play hide 'n seek?" she asked. That would be a game that could last a long time. The camp was quite large and there were plenty of places to hide.

  • you can't be me, not in your wildest fantasy

it's childish, should i have to resort to violence? tags

she wasn't asleep, despite having not moved for awhile. she had merely started counting the seconds until something happened, startled badly out of her reverie by her sister's voice. she'd blink at the other for a moment, weariness dragging her down, deafness made embarrassing apparent as she blanched, wincing to herself. "wha-?" she expressed with a wrinkle of her nose.

  • ACTIONS HERE "SPEECH HERE"

When he was a kit, he was only eager to become an apprentice so that he could get away with more things. As a child, it was much more concerning whenever he tried to leave the den or camp to be alone. It was much harder to lie, his parents ignoring what was really happening with him and just calling it his "active imagination" to get him off their backs. However, this only encouraged him. Overhearing Bluekit's offer, Morningpaw remained where he was. While he was sure that Ashpaw would partake in the activity, still having the energy of a kit, he was only going to spare whatever vitality he had at the moment into watching over the game. He wasn't in the mood to be yelled out for letting one of them hurt themselves while they were in his sight.

    Ew. Gross. Apprentice duties.

For the most part, Ashpaw had deduced that being an apprentice was awesome. She could do so many more interesting things like hunt and swim and stuff, and she wasn't bored all the time! But it had its downsides, too-- the first and most prominent being, well, Sharkpool; but the second-- and the one eating at her right now-- being the dragging dullness of chores.

Replacing the bedding in the nursery. Picking ticks out of the elders' pelts. Basic apprentice-level duties and errands that were really very extremely not fun.

Right now, she was supposed to be patching up a hole in the side of the nursery wall, and afterwards she'd hopefully be able to go out fishing or something before Sharkpool snatched her up to train. (Battle training was actually a little bit terrifying under Sharkpool's regime. Still fun, though. Mostly.) She'd just managed to weave the last of the reeds together, effectively closing up the hole, when she heard Bluekit's call.

    Hide and seek?!

Instantly, her ears were pricked, tail stood straight upright. Ashpaw bounded around the corner to the front of the den and poked her head inside.

Maybe she was an apprentice now, but the nursery's walls still felt familiar, and she was around the same size as Bluekit and Snowkit, anyway-- it shouldn't have felt too much different. Still, it did, just a little. Nothing major, just... she was aware of the change that had taken place. Ashpaw found herself suddenly aching for the day that Snowkit and Bluekit became apprentices, too.

"You guys are playing hide and seek? Ooh, can I play, too? Are we gonna use the whole camp or what? That sounds like so much fun!"

Much better than picking off ticks, at the very least.

    . . .

    //ooc: there she is

this... may not end well xD

  • Bluekit turned to Snowkit with a small smile. "Hide 'n seek," she repeated at the other kitten's questioning tone. It appeared as though, by the white she-cat's facial expression, that she was not fond of the idea. Bluekit usually wasn't one for games either, unless started by another denmate, but she was just so bored that she had to do something.

And then there was Ashpaw. Bluekit's shoulders sagged as the ever excited and newly-appointed apprentice sidled her way into the nursery, eager for a game. "Yes, you can play, too. And we will use the whole camp. Let's just try not to make any of the warriors mad by hiding in their nests or disrupting their afternoon naps," she stated. The last thing she wanted was for her game to get her - or the others - in any sort of trouble.

  • //whooooops sorry bout that. I'm here!!

Ashpaw let out a pleased purr. "Okay! I'll count first," she offered. She turned to DIYA- and added, "Are you gonna play?"

After waiting for an answer, she quickly whirled on her paws to face Bluekit again. "Okay! Hurry, you go and hide, I'll count to.... um..... thirty!"

With that, Ash dove for an empty nest, burrowing herself in the soft bedding as she began to count loudly.

    "One...! Two...! Three..."

    . . .

  • Marshkit

Hide-and-seek?! "Ah! Ah! Wait for me!" He called out, wanting in on the game. He heard Ashpaw start counting and his heart pounded, he needed to find somewhere to hide.. And fast! Marshkit looked around quickly, where though? He spotted Snowkit and quickly ran behind her, ducking down as if no one could see him. "Perfect!" He snickered.

  • Well, that was good. Bluekit really didn't want to be the seeker right off the bat so she was glad when Ashpaw offered to take the job instead. Now where to hide... she turned to see Marshkit trying to hide behind Snowkit and shook her head. "She's going to see you there," she whispered to the younger tom. "Why don't you hide... hmm... hide in the apprentice's den - under one of the nests."

With that, she stalked off in the direction of the rushes that acted as the camp's walls. She ensconced herself within the tall blades of grass and crouched down to make herself as small as possible. I doubt Ashpaw will think to look here, she thought and wondered if Marshkit would take her advice or not.

  • YOUR REDEMPTION WON'T GROW STALE —

Cinderkit had been romping around near the rushes, weaving in and out of them as a battle played out in her head. Sometimes, she'd even throw a paw out at the air, pretending to be smacking the enemy in the face! Giggling a little bit to herself, she envisioned how she finally was able to knock over that enemy, and she was about to pounce and finish him off! Sitting down in the grass, she wiggled her behind before trying to launch herself forward. What Cinderkit didn't realize, though, was how close she was to Bluekit. As she leaped, her front legs cleared over her, but one of her back paws ended up catching on her, hitting Bluekit on the back. Tumbling into the rushes next to her, Cinderkit quickly stood up, turning to stare at Bluekit with wide, apologetic eyes, that had tears quickly forming in them. Cinderkit didn't realize that her fellow 'kit was in the middle of playing a game that required stealth in her position.

  • Bluekit leaped and hissed as she felt a sudden force against her back. She stood up, making the rushes sway a bit as she whirled around to focus a glittering icy glare on Cinderkit. "Watch where you're going!" she hissed, curling her lip at the other kitten. "We're playing a game - hide 'n seek. And you just ruined my hiding spot."

Great! Now she had to find a new place to hide. Ashpaw could probably hear all of the commotion from where she was. Bluekit stalked out of the rushes, her ears pressed against her skull and began to scuttle towards Larkthroat's den - the medicine den. She wouldn't hide inside of it for fear of upsetting the tom who lived there, but the smell of herbs would mask her scent if she hid behind it.

    ( poor Blue being a meanie D: )

  • Marshkit

Oh? He hadn't thought of that, he ran away from Snowkit to go inside the apprentice den. "Whoa.." He breathed looking around the den. Marshkit would be here on day, he couldn't wait for that day! The dark furred kit scampered into a nest, wiggling around under the moss of it covered him.

Ashpaw's tail flicked back and forth in excitement as she counted into her paws.

    "Twenty-eight... twenty-niiiiine... thirty!"

She leaped up with all the energy of a kit and darted out of the nursery as fast as her legs could carry her. "Ready or not, HERE I COME!" she yelled. Eyes alert, her gaze flicked over the camp... Not the warriors' den, that one was off-limits. Maybe the medicine den? Bluekit did seem to visit Larkthroat... a lot more than most cats did...

    Huh. Weird.

Brushing it off, Ashpaw sprang over to the medicine den and poked her head in. "Hello? Hellooooo... Anyone in here?"

She padded forward quietly, wondering if she'd find Bluekit before Larkthroat showed up to yell at her. Or maybe Bluekit wasn't in here?

    . . .

    //ooc:

  • Bluekit heard Ashpaw's voice from the other side of the den. She grimaced, hoping that the apprentice didn't bother the angry tom who lived there. Hopefully, Larkthroat wasn't around to yell at Ashpaw, who seemed to have a knack for making the Clan's most aggressive warriors infuriated at her. She pressed close to behind the den and slowly backed up behind a bush to keep herself hidden. Don't find me... don't find me! Don't get in trouble either - but don't find me!

    Maybe she should yell.

YES! Excellent idea. Ashpaw was going to do exactly that. She'd scare Blue right out of hiding, just watch! She breathed in deep, getting ready to shout, and--

Choked and coughed violently on the disgusting mix of powerful herb scents that subsequently assaulted her nostrils.

"Oh," she gasped, involuntarily tearing up, "Oh dear oh gross oh StarClan, yuck--" Still coughing, she stumbled out of the medicine den. Not there, then. Nope, Ash was very much done searching that den.

She was just about to scamper off to check-- hmm, maybe the elders' den-- when another thought occurred to her. A sly grin crossed her face as she whirled on her paws and tiptoed back toward the medicine den.

Blue, the sneaky kit, she wouldn't hide in the medicine den-- but behind it?

Ashpaw's pelt fluffed up in excitement as she pounced on the familiar deep blue-gray pelt. "Found you!"

    . . .

//ooc: I love blue so much I s2g have I ever told you this before because akajaksjasjaj I love her

  • YOUR REDEMPTION WON'T GROW STALE —

    (poor cinderkit!!)

Cinderkit quietly stared down at the ground as Bluekit scolded her. She could feel a few tears drip into the fur below her eyes as Bluekit exclaimed how she had ruined her hiding spot. Sadly, she watched as the russian blue storm off to find another hiding spot. Huffing to herself, Cinderkit hopped out of the rushes, noticing Ashpaw hunting around for clan mates.

Trotting over, she sniffled away her remaining tears, and just tagged along side Ashpaw. No hello or greeting or anything. Cinderkit just made her own desicison to hunt with the apprentice.

  • "THE MUTE" - Rosekit - 04 months - Selectively Mute - Female

Roe had been to late to play, so instead she just watched from her little patch of sunshine as she nibbled on the minnow she'd been given earlier from the prey pile. She longed to play with the others, but she'd be terrible at seeking since it required one to count aloud, and she hadn't had enough time to even hide let alone join in the game and then do so. Sighing, she'd watch sadly, her ears folded back as she snuggled deeper into herself and ate silently.

  • Bluekit yelped in surprise as Ashpaw tackled her. She flew back, not hard, into the dirt as the older she-cat pummeled into her. "Mousedung!" she sniffed, frowning at the fact that she'd been found. The rushes would've been a much better hiding place. "Get off of me, you goon!" she said playfully as she shoved Ashpaw off of her. The kitten stood up and shook the dirt from her slate gray pelt. "I think Marshkit hid somewhere, too," she said, but didn't give away the tom's hiding place. She'd seen him head for the apprentice's den.

Bluekit caught Cinderkit sulking nearby, obviously helping Ashpaw in her hunt. She felt bad. She hadn't meant to snap but that had been such a good hiding place! The she-kit sighed. I'll apologize later. Her blue eyes then flitted to Rosekit who sat, watching the game from afar. "Do you want to play, Rosekit?" she called as she padded over to the selectively mute kitten. "It's probably too late to join in on this round but someone will count after Ashpaw finds everyone. You can hide from the next seeker then. For now, you could help us look for Marshkit."

Ashpaw grinned, lifting her chin smugly as she stepped back, not feeling even a bit guilty about the dirt she'd gotten all over Bluekit's beautiful fur... Um. Well. Okay. Maybe she felt a little guilty. Bluekit's fur was really pretty, after all. Really really pretty--

    Uhhhhh. Anyway!

"Alright! Let's go, let's find Marshkit!" she said, figuring she'd sniff around each of the dens, see if she caught his scent. "And, yeah, you can totally play next round, you guys," she added, playfully bumping Cinderkit and smiling at Rosy.

    PALEPAW

    _______________________________________

The sunlight that filtered in beautifully through the cracks of bramble in the den were calming and peaceful, yet still very tempting to pounce on. The older kitten was off duty today, with his mother Heathermask still healing a little more from her injuries from kitting, he insisted he be the one who assists his clanmates despite his mother in almost perfect shape again despite scars that were definitely going to stay. Those would heal over time he had assured himself. His slightly big paws were fixing up his nest again, since he had used most of the moss from his own to clean the wounds from his mother and since he was almost an apprentice, he was required to clean both his mothers and his own nests. Twitching his tail a little, he patted the moss together, having finally found someone who had a little bit of leftover moss stored and he was in luck this time.

With his broad shoulders he finally finished making up the nest nice and neat, he didn't really have anything else to do for the day other than talk to his clanmates! But before he could plant himself back on all fours, he heard some soft muffled voices from the entrance of the den that was quickly followed by a more. Nearly toppling over from surprise, Palepaw scooted back a little and stood flat with his tail lifted up into the air as he wiped himself off from the quick shaking of his body. Then quickly he trotted outside to see what was the commotion. "Hello!" He purred, a big grin on his face, his eyes bright with excitement as he greeted the small group. "May I ask what you guys are doing?" The tom took a moment to notice the blush on the molly's cheeks, and he knew he'd have to talk to her about it later! He didn't want his clanmates to feel scared of him, he wanted them to feel safe and welcomed of course so he gave a warm smile.
