  • Riley wrapped their arms around James to assure him. "We'll figure out what we'll become in that time Jay...it's late though so perhaps we can rest for a little....I think we've had enough action for the day" they admitted. They glanced at the bed and pulled off a blanket not trusting the bed to be able to carry the weight of the both of them

  • James hugged Riley back, feeling slightly more relaxed while he's in their arms. He nodded sullenly at their remark, lying down on the ground beside them. He didn't trust the bed either, it looked like it was going to already fall down without any weight on it. He covered himself with the blanket and cuddled up to them, wrapping their arms around them and drifting off to a very fitful night of sleep.

  • Riley couldn't really sleep, but they at least tried. The sun rose and light entered their small room shining some beams of light down where the couple were sleeping. They groaned a little waking up. They glanced over at James who seemed to be sleeping still. "Morning Jay, should we start planning?" they whispered

  • James muttered something incoherent under his breath before nodding at his remark. He stretched his arms, yawning as he sat up. His back was sore from sleeping on the ground and he was tired from the unusually fitful night of sleep; he barely got more than 10 minutes of sleeping before stirring or waking up. "Yeah, we should...I think we should somehow also light the car on fire so that it assures them of our death.." He said, rubbing his tired eyes.

  • Riley groaned groaned. This had to be one of the worst nights of sleep for them, but it wasn't the worst. "Light the car on fire?...I was just thinking of sinking it in the lake...we could do both so no one questions where our bodies went" they suggested.

  • "Well, that's a much better idea and there isn't the risk of one of us getting first degree burns by mistake." He said nonchalantly as if having first degree burns is something normal. "We still need to get a second car to help us go away." He continued. There was suddenly a knock on the door and James froze, looking between Riley and the door as if saying I'm not opening that.

  • Riley froze at the knocking of the door. They didn't want to answer either, but James wasn't seeming to want to go either. "Get to the window and be ready to climb out of the window if needed. I want at least to get out of here if they happen to be the police on the other side of that door" they admitted. They pulled James into a kiss before standing and slowly walking to the door worried about who was on the other side

  • James saw that his lover was reluctant to open the door, too, and he was going to tell him he doesn't have to and that they could just let the knock pass or run away. His thoughts were cut off as the other spoke and he nodded, forgetting in mere moments what he wanted to say. He kissed them back quickly and gently squeezed their arm reassuringly as if saying everything's going to be alright soon. He ran silently to the window afterwards and opened it with as less noise as possible.

"Police! Please open the door!" A man's voice said before Riley had opened the door. James gestured for Riley to be quick as he waited by the window, his panic increasing.

  • Riley glanced over at James nervous about opening the door. They felt sweat dripping down from their forehead and hitting the floor boards making a 'drip-drop' sound. They slowly reached over to the door handle and opened it to see two police officers standing there. "Hello officers, is there anything I can do for you?" they asked trying to sound like they were ignorant about the events

  • James freaked out even more when they opened the door. "What are you doing?!" He mouthed even though he was sure Riley couldn't see him. James backed away from the window a few steps to watch what will happen, but he was still close enough to the window to run throught it after a few short steps. "Riley, you have been accused of stealing government documents with the help of your lover, James; that means we're going to have to arrest you and him - if he's here. It'll be easier for all of us if you just-" James took a step loser to the window before tripping and falling onto the weak wood. His fall caused a lot of ruckus inside and the police officers immediately barged in at the noise, one going for Riley and the other for James.

  • It all went so fast that Riley could barely process it. Once the police came into the room after them, Riley tried to get over to James. They glanced out the window just seeing more police coming towards their room. There didn't seem to be a way for them to escape. Riley could only think of one thing to do, but they knew James wouldn't like it. 'I'm sorry' they mouthed to James before looking back at the policemen. "James isn't guilty. He had nothing to do with the theft of the documents, just me. You can take me in, but leave him alone" they said

  • (The policemen are NPC if you want to do anything with them)

James was confused for mere seconds of what Riley meant when he apologized before realizing what he meant, but it was too late by then as the policemen had already reached for him and were handcuffing him. They were listing his rights as they did so and were leading him outside rather quickly before. "No!" James shouted loudly and ran to catch up with his lover and the police, but he was pushed backwards into the room again by another policeman that entered the motel room. "Sir, please calm down. We're going to have to interrogate you, so if you'd calmly come with us." He said and James wasn't paying much attention to what he was saying, freling like his world was crumbling once again. "Where's he going?" James snapped, interrupting him mid sentence. "Sir, that is confiden-" "Where. Is. He. Going?" James repeated the question, emphasizing every word.

  • Riley barely paid attention to the policemen as they listed off their rights. They just kept their gaze to James as they were dragged away feeling tears starting to form. They tried moving towards him, but instead was led outside and pushed into the back of a police car. That's when the tears finally began flowing as they glanced back at the motel room not knowing what was going on with their lover and feeling like their heart was breaking again.

Meanwhile inside the room, the other police officer noticing the tone of James. "He's going back into the town you were all in and face trial for the stolen documents. If he's found guilty there, he spends the rest of his life in prison"

  • "But he didn't-" James croaked. He was about to say that his lover didn't steal anything, but he knew that it was useless and a sob escaped him. He felt tears stream down his face. He moved to the doorway that the policeman was blocking, looking behind him as Riley entered the police car James watched as the police cars backed away from their parking spots and onto the high way, back to their home-state again. The policeman put a hand on James' shoulder and he shrugged him off. "Sir, you're coming with us too." He said and James just nodded, following the policeman down to his car.

  • A week had passed since their arrest and Riley was facing their trial. There were so many odds against them that they knew they were going to be in jail as soon as the trial came to an end. They were dragged into the courthouse and he glanced around to see who was there to witness it. Among the crowd they saw many familiar faces including their siblings, but two faces really stuck out.

One of the leader of the Grizzles who seemed to be smirking at Riley's misery while Riley fought against everything in him to go and try to strangle the man. The other was James who upon seeing him made Riley frown. They knew this had to be hard for him. They sat down where he was told as the trial began.

  • James' eyes were red and puffy. He had been crying since he was told that the chance of Riley getting out of this was slim. He hated the Grizzlies leader's guts and wanted to punch him once he saw him, but he knew that'll only bring them problems. The leader had the same smirk on his face and James just glared at him, and by Riley's expression when he saw the leader, he had the same smirk. James just smiled weakly at Riley when they made eye contact, trying to be as reassuring as possible. Riley's frown showed James that his efforts were wasted, though, as it proved the Riley knew that the chances were small.

They had said a lot of stff at the beginning that James had zoned out, but he paid full attention when they started calling witnesses. The first one was the Grizzlies leader. His smirk stayed for mere moments as he made eye contact with both Riley and James befote going to the standing pod. The lawyer that James had got stepped up to question him. "With the conflict between both gangs, the grizzlies would've had a motive to set Riley up, wouldn't they?" They asked.

  • Riley glanced over at the lawyer that sat next to them. They had expected to just get the district attorney who wouldn't even try on their case. Either because they would see it as a lost cause or because the Grizzlies might be lining their pockets with a bit more money than their own salary was. However they were surprised when they found out that James had hired them. They turned back to see him giving him a simple thumbs up before the questioning started.

They turned back to see the first witness and glared seeing the Grizzly leader still smirking. However, once the questioning began, it made the smirk disappear. "The conflict?...I suppose that it could be a reason"

  • "You've spread many rumors about Riley before, yes or no?" The lawyer asked, looking back at Riley before turning to the leader. James was cracking his knuckles nervously. He kept looking between his lover and the leader being questioned. "The only way they knew that Riley stole the documents was because an anonymous person gave them the tip. Was the person who gave the police the tip from the grizzlies?" He continued asking, an unreadable expression on her face.
